At the starting of this post i was thinking of adding my comment on each video i added but now i wont because the videos i selected they dont want any comments….all about the meaning and what happened are in each video. Well it’s happened. The Internet has just become a little weirder. How? Childbirth videos on YouTube.

Click on the link to the read corresponding New York Times article. My favorite quote from the article:

“My goal is not to scare anybody. But if someone is pregnant and they haven’t wrapped their head around the fact that there is pain involved, then they might want to start.”

I was a little creeped out by the idea of childbirth videos on the Internet, but after reading that, I’ve changed my mind. This is a great idea! Instead of conventional sex-ed classes, public schools should just show these videos. Who says scare tactics don’t work?

On a totally seperate subject, here’s a quick update on the summer reading progress—

Finished “Bridget Jones’s Diary” this morning, began reading “Atonement”. Have totally quit “Jane Eyre” at the moment. Liked it, but it felt too much like a chore having to sit down and read it.

I noticed that I’m on a little bit of Brit-lit kick. The narrative voice in my head has acquired a terribly phony British accent.

And then there’s Maude.

Hong Kong Willie. The name of the artist. In 1958 his mother took Hong Kong Willie to an art class. The name started then. An art teacher when doing crafts out of Gerber baby bottles, made a statement, in Hong Kong reuse was common. At that time he thought this was very interesting. His father had low-land, at that time landfills were common also. The county had told Hong Kong Willie’s father, it was safe, but as we now know this was not so. Something can come from bad to be good. Hong Kong Willie the name came from that art teacher impressing on that young mind that objects made for one use could be for many other uses. Hong Kong for the neat concept. Willie for an American name. So for many years Hong Kong Willie had a life of reuse. Hong Kong Willie saw forms in a different light, His life now was meaningful, knowing this was and would be his life. Art made from found objects, making less of a footprint on this world. Art and art teachers, HOW IMPORTANT. For the ones that have, and the ones who have not. Media can be found. Now 50 years later, we know now being green is important. We need to look at this very carefully. Our children and our world need a different understanding. Objects can be used in many different ways. Hong Kong Willie the tons of objects in his life that have been used, without much change, So for that art teacher what she did for my life. Thank You. I still have the Gerber baby bottle till this day. Hong Kong Willie.

what do you know about the closing of this school? anything? or have you heard the rumors about how it was “completely out of control” and the school was “too liberal”?

i have to say it is disgustingly irresponsible to shut down any place of learning at all. unless no one there is learning anything, and i know all my friends who went there learned something.

there’s this bad ass, but very hard to watch in the beginning video that i highly recomend. get through the first 5 minutes, and it will make sense, it all comes together at the end, you’ll see.

Anyone who has been around me for very long has probably heard me yell, “Sausages!” at inappropriate moments. This stemmed from a Kids in the Hall skit I saw many, many years ago. I only saw it once, but it obviously stuck with me through the years. But I was the only person I knew who had ever seen the skit. Thank God for YouTube! I found it and now everyone I know can enjoy it in all of it’s insane weirdness! Enjoy!

This is one of those videos that I watch over and over again and I’m never quite sure if it’s real or not. My favourite is the shot through the closing elevator doors.

It seems that 2008 was the biggest year ever for viral videos, and the amount of video clips that went viral (and the millions of viewers that watched them) is truly staggering. It seems that everyone had a minute or 2 or 3 to check out the newest video craze that was spreading like wildfire on the Internet, with the TV and printed media keeping you closely informed of the ones that went really over the top in terms of full exposure to the masses.

With celebs and corporations deciding that they weren’t going to be left out on the viral video fun, there were lots of videos that were pretty crazy this year, some that went in for the laughs, some liked to shock, lots liked to be sexy, some wanted to sell, there were surely some gross ones to be sure, and there were also plenty that were just plain awesome.

Let’s take a look back at the year that was 2008 and see how it looked before we head off into the world that we will call 2009.

It’s sure been a great year for the viral video. Can’t wait to see what they think of in 2009…

I’m going on Day 20 of a major bender (I should be on a colonel bender by the end of the year, and an admiral bender by the end of January).   My brain has been paying the price, and as a byproduct, so has my writing.  (It’s all trivia’s fault!  But don’t worry – we got into the tournament… as if you cared.)
