This is a very nice watch for the price. Firstly, it’s very easy to read the time. The hands are big and the white color against the black background provides excellent contrast. It’s virtually water proof if you’re not a diver and the hands glow in the dark. The band links were also very easy to remove if you have the tools. The watch is solid and looks beautiful. The only drawback is its weight. Perhaps a different band would reduce the weight to an acceptable range.

This weekend our opponents are local rivals Arsenal and the fixture is probably the most important game we have played against Arsenal since a 1-1 draw in 2007 that ended our slim title hopes.

Arsenal like in 2008 have had an amazing start to the season, with the young players groomed by Arsene Wenger playing attractive attacking football and surging up the table.

In 2008 Arsenal buckled under the pressure and we narrowly missed out to Manchester United in the title race, it has now been 6 years without a title and patience at the Emirates can only buy so much time and the question is how this crop of players will react when the pressure mounts?

Despite defeat to Sunderland last week the match on Sunday brings the league’s two form teams together and gives us a chance to record 3 straight wins against last season’s top four sides.

Hopefully Carlo Ancelotti will have an almost full strength squad to pick from for this game with Lampard, Drogba, Ashley Cole all expected to be fit in time for kick off after recent injury problems.

The game itself should be quite open with plenty of chances with the leagues top scoring teams pitted against each other, the key however will be the midfield battle and Chelsea must ensure that Arsenal’s flair players are not given the time on the ball they crave.

On balance I think that Chelsea are stronger across all over the pitch and have a much more settled and balanced line up than Arsenal with or without the injuries, defensively we have the best defence in the league so far this season and the capabilities of our forward and midfield units are the stuff of dreams.

Ideally for me the Chelsea team to face Arsenal would be.

Cech A. Cole, Terry, Carvalho, Ivanovic, Lampard, Essien, J. Cole, Mikel, Anelka and Drogba

This is a fairly standard team for the players available however due to Arsenal’s attacking prowess I would give Mikel the nod ahead of Michael Ballack to provide the back four a more defensively minded midfield option.

Prediction: well I will let you do this bit, what do you predict?

After the four trophyless seasons and what were thought to be poor dealings in the transfer market,

After the four trophyless seasons and what were thought to be poor dealings in the transfer market, nobody expected Arsenal to keep their place in the top 4 let alone mount a serious title challenge. However, Arsene Wenger have once again built an excellent team with small resources at his disposal and as a result, the Gunners had a remarkable start of the season that saw them emerge as serious title contenders by Premier League betting odds. The defeat to Sunderland was the first setback after quite a while and it came in the worst possible time, before the big derby with Chelsea. The Gunners are now eight points adrift of Chelsea, with a game in hand, and they simply have to beat the Blues in order to stay in the title race. Can they do it?

This game comes at a bad time for the Gunners since the boss has several important players out with injuries and he faces a couple of big dilemmas. With both Van Persie and Bendtner sidelined, Wenger has just two options for the centre forward place. He can either use Eduardo, who struggled to make an impact against Sunderland or go with Walcott, who hasn’t played in this position for four years. It will be a gamble either way but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Walcott get the nod. Arshavin will start on left flank, with Nasri or Rosicky vying for the third place in attack. Armand Traore is the logical choice for the left-back position since both Clichy and Gibbs are sidelined.

The question is how to beat Chelsea? Wenger’s 4-3-3, which is close to 4-5-1, will give Arsenal an extra man in midfield, although that could be neutralized with Anelka dropping behind Drogba in order to help his midfielders. Ancelotti’s diamond formation is the weakest when being attacked from the wings and this is why Gael Clichy will be sorely missed. Armand Traore has played just a couple of games this season and he cannot be expected to step up the plate in such an important game but if he helps Arshavin up front as much as Clichy would do if he was fit, then Chelsea will have real problems on the right side of defence. Sagna can also cause the Blues real problems on the opposite side and doubling players on the wing looks like the only way to penetrate Chelsea’s defence. Arsenal have very strong midfield but definitely not as strong as Chelsea.

Since we cannot expect Arsenal to keep a clean sheet in this match, attacking Chelsea looks like the right way to go since the Blues are not really used to defending for their lives. The Gunners need to play to their strengths on Sunday and these are obviously talent, pace and flair. I am pretty sure Arsenal can win this game. Stranger things are happening in football today.

There seems to be two types of match report to do these days. We played well but we lacked concentra

There seems to be two types of match report to do these days. We played well but we lacked concentration and we let in a late equalizer or we simply just played well.
Last nights game was an example of just what a fine line it is between the two.
We started really brightly full of training ground flicks culminating in an unbelievable passage of play on fifteen minutes when the Standard goal was comparable to an Iraqi stronghold with a Cobra gunship peppering it with shots on the first day of the Gulf war. Thanks AA (your forgiven)..

But as the half wore on Liege managed a shot that cannoned of Almunia’s bar.. Then we went into sadism mode.. Gallas nutting Arshavin meant we went down to nine men at one stage.
Then when Gallas came back on he looked as if he had a session with Paul McKenna and looked well out of it, “When I click my fingers give a penalty away” luckily the ref wasn’t a Lilly Livered Pansy and you had to get a death certificate to get a penalty.

Somehow in all the melee Nasri broke through and put us one up. It won’t be this easy against the Chavs.

Just before half time Denilson must have remembered what country it states on his birth certificate (I know two certificates) and tried a Jairzinho type shot that swerved back and forth and totally lost the keeper.. 2-0 to the Arsenal..

The second half was similar except we created a few chances and they just crept the wrong side of the woodwork.
The highlight was when after getting his shirt half removed and falling to a tackle from behind Captain Cesc went to have a quiet word with Carcela-Gonzalez. Cesc didn’t turn into Ole Gunnar Solskjar and stayed on his feet. The opposing player got sent off. But Cesc got booked, why??

Anyway 2-0 was the result.. but the funniest thing of the night was, the cash strapped Bindippers crash out of the Champions League.. The press’s darlings.. But we didn’t have Torres.. we didn’t have Alonso… haha good.. Their wasn’t much to watch on a Thursday night, now we can watch you lot get beaten.

Almunia.. 6.5 Strange night for him, sort of just watched any decent shots fly by and hit the woodwork.

Eboue.. 6.5.. I suppose he did okay, never had much defending to do, the diving and sprawling on the deck is getting boring and embarrassing now.

Gallas.. 7.5 Was leading by example, didn’t look well when he came back on after the head injury. Hope he is okay for Sunday.. I like a man who wants revenge.

Vermaelen .. 7.. Done as good as he needed to, he worries me slightly when we was two on two and he didn’t mark the spare man.

Gibbs.. 7.5 .. Nice one Gibbsy.. you are going to make the left back position yours soon.
But as I am writing I have read that he has fractured his foot and will have a operation today (Wednesday).. 2 months out ffs.

Song.. .. 9.. WOW!

Denilson. 7.. Looked okay for his first game back.. Super goal, dare I say a bit like that ex Man U cheating scum bag.. more of please.

Fabregas.. 7 .. Yeah not bad, bit wayward on some of his passes but that could be the new guys coming in, perhaps they need to read Cesc better.

Nasri..7.5 . He did okay, I would like to see him step up a gear soon, hopefully he has settled into the way of life in England. Good finish for his goal, very cool.

Arshavin.. 7.. A pretty good performance, but a lot of his tricks were not going his way. Had a great chance whistle past the post.

Vela.. 6..very similar to Eduardo, lacks that physical presence that we need to lead the line.. Went missing a bit during periods of the game that Nikki B doesn’t seem to do.

Silvestre.. 7.. There is hope, isn’t there??

Walcott.. 6.. Failed to shine, he should be running the show.

Rosicky.. Came on a bit late to judge him..

I don’t feel that great after a night when we qualify for the knockout stages top of our CL group, Sunday will be the decider for me. if we win then I will be ecstatic or .. well we will win..

Have a good day Roadsters..

In editorialul “Football Made In UK” semnat pentru <Fotbal Vest>, punand cap la ca

Paguba era insa produsa si genunchiul i-a dat ulterior din nou in primire.

There it is – What took us so long?

Ok, not us, but what has taken Arson so bloomin long to get thinking the way we have all been for yonks now?

‘My players cannot think about World Cup’

Arsène Wenger has insisted that for his players this season is about achieving success with Arsenal, not earning a place at the World Cup.

During a press conference at Arsenal’s Training Ground on Monday, one journalist suggested that the current campaign is a crucial one for Theo Walcott because, at its conclusion, England manager Fabio Capello will choose his squad for South Africa.

The reporter did not reach the end of his question.

“I must stop you there,” interrupted Wenger. “The big season is with Arsenal, not at the World Cup.

“We do not pay players to go to the World Cup – we pay the players to do well for Arsenal.

“The first pride of a man is to do well for the guy who pays you in life, not to go to the World Cup.”

Hoo-bloody-rah, at last, get the balloons blown up and hang the bunting out!

Club comes first, club pays players wages, club makes you successful, club teaches you how to grow with the game.

Maybe the injury to van Persie has been the final knock to the nail in our managers wooden head that will from now on STOP players going off on international duties when they are not fully fit, and even more important, stop them playing in meaningless friendlies for their country!

Well done Arson, I am with you all the way!

And yes, I did copy and paste the interview from afc.com, and I ain’t bovvered

And here is another copy and paste….

It begins :-

Dear Barcelona

Fabregas – I am happier than ever here

Cesc Fabregas says he is happier than ever at Arsenal.

Despite consistent rebuttals from the player himself, the Spaniard is still linked with a return to Barcelona and his name has even been dragged into the upcoming Presidential elections at the Nou Camp.

But, speaking ahead of Tuesday’s game with Standard Liege, the midfielder gave all that little credence and once again painted a rosy picture at Emirates Stadium.

“It does not affect me at all because it’s been going for years,” he said. “To be honest I just don’t think about it, I don’t want to and I don’t think I should because I’m at a great club and in a great team.

“I’m very happy where I am and there is very long season in front of us. The last thing I want to do is get disconnected from what I have to do which is to play football for my team and for the Club that pays me. I’m really looking forward to a great season with Arsenal.”

The skipper was then asked if he would like to stay for the rest of his career.

“Why not?” he replied. “I have never thought about it. I’m only 22. You never know what your career will bring but why not? I’m in my seventh season now and I’m really happy, better than ever.”

Fabregas also believes that his desire to win trophies can be satisfied too. Barca’s relative success compared to Arsenal is sometimes cited as a reason for moving.

“We can achieve that here,” said Fabregas in response to the question. “I have played some Finals, fought for Premier League titles.

“It’s true that at the end of the season we have sometimes had some feeling that we haven’t done it but I’m really happy with the way this club focuses on winning things and I’m sure we are more than capable of doing it this season.”

Get the hint Barca – well do you ??

On to tonight, we need just one point to secure a place in the knock out stages and we at our home against a team who threw away a 2-0 lead to let us win 3-2, so in theory; if we approach with the right attitude we will win.

Mind you I thought that before the Sunderland game!!

Anyway, tonight is very different to Saturday, we are at home and we are not up against a manager like Steve Bruce – say what you want about him but his is doing his club proud, making ‘his home’ his teams fortress, just like Arson has done with us so credit to him!

I say we should rest the French boys, rest Arshavin and bring in those who think they are good enough! That’s their words, not my view!!

How many times do we read an interview from one of those on the fringes of the team, how many times do they choose to tell the whole world they should be in our first team?

Well, tonight I think they should have their moment… Get a good mix and match and by 10pm we will be in the next round – then bring on the Carling Cup Kids for the final match

I would go with this team if I was picking it:-

Fabianski/Almunia
Eboue Senderos Vermaelen Gibbs
Ramsey Song Rosicky
Walcott Eduardo Vela

Come on you Gooners, lets score ten !!!!!

Plonjonul in speranta unui penalty ori tacklingul primejdios. Falia e probabil extinsa in aceasta privinta, existand in general intre jocul din Marea Britanie si cel continental ori macar latin.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qryjPi4KEek

Dar de-aceea nu-s fotbalist si scrijelesc in lumea virtuala.

After 2 weeks wait our team failed us, what went wrong? I don’t really know, a slight attitude problem I would guess. We need more desire to win. We need to believe..

If we still need to find a scapegoat we cannot for a change point the finger at our favourite villains Diaby, Eboue or Bendtner.
If we were the darling buds of the media we could blame it on our massive injury list.. But only Liverpool have top players out.. Instead we are just bottlers in their eyes.

I think the finger of blame should go to, well at least to some extent to Mr Wenger OBE, it wasn’t fair on Eduardo to be leading a line with Nasri and Rosicky as his strike partners. Now I love all three of these players but to expect them to lead the line was asking too much.
All three are still trying to recover their pre injury form.

Also with Dudu he is not a traditional no 9 type striker and to have him up top on his own is never his natural position, as I said when he was starting to comeback from his leg break, don’t expect too much from him, he wasn’t a world beater before the injury, but we made him up to be the greatest player on earth because we all wanted him to make a full recovery, but perhaps he became better than he really was in our eyes. Or could the media reaction to his definate penalty against Celtic affected him? He was shaping up okay until then.. I would have liked to have seen AA start even if he was a bit tired, just to take some of the scoring burden away from Dudu’s shoulders.

The other disappointment for me was Aaron Ramsey, we all saw the highlights of him playing for Wales against Scotland last week, he ran the game, but we never see him do the same for Arsenal, wouldn’t it be easier to fit into Arsenal’s sleek system rather than the longer ball way of Wales? Is it that the Premiership is of a far higher level than the international scene or is he overwhelmed by playing next to such quality players?.. Who knows..

One thing is for sure we cannot keep losing games like this.. This is a squad of players that come around every four or five years and we have to make the most of it before they start an exodus one by one, leaving us to rebuild again like we had to when Hleb and Flamini left a few years ago.

But in fairness we were in such control in the first 30 minutes we should have put a chance or two away, the best one going to Eduardo but the ball was too far underneath him and he could not get a clean strike on the bit. But as usual we allowed the opposition to gain confidence and Sunderland were a half decent side in the second half.
Have we heard that before?

Almunia.. 6.. Never had much to do in reality, perhaps he could have come for the corner that lead to the goal, but I doubt if he would have got to it as it was curling away.

Sagna.. 7.. Was our main attacking threat from the flanks, I just wish he would cut inside now and again and do a give and go, his crossing is too predictable.

Gallas 7.5 Our best defender yesterday and he also has the winning mentality, it’s a pity some of our attackers don’t have the same desire.

Vermaelen 6.. A pretty average performance from him for a change, at fault for the goal. He lost a header to Darren Bent then failed to recover when the ball came back in the box.

Traore. 6.5 .. Without knowing it I think he may of put in a transfer request yesterday (Saturday) he isn’t as good as either Clichy or Gibbs so he is probably third in the pecking order unless either of the other two go. He wasn’t terrible (better than Silvestre) but he made some terrible cross field passes in front of our penalty area.

Song.. 7.5.. Played pretty well, The ref didn’t like his style of defending unless the boot was on the other foot and a Sunderland player did the same thing. Done well not to be booked..

Fabregas.. 7.. Tried to play the captains role but frustratingly started to settle for long-range shots at goal…

Nasri.. 6.5 Tidy, but never really got into the game. He should have been fresh as a daisy after a rest, and with a few matches behind him, looked a little lethargic.

Rosicky.. 6.5.. Same as Nasri.. Never really got into the game as well as he can.

Ramsey. 6.. Forgot he was playing in some parts of the game, it was obvious he was going to be the one coming off first.

Eduardo.. 6. As I said earlier, I don’t think the role suits him leading the line as the sole striker.

Subs..

Arshavin 6.5.. Never really looked too interested after he got dumped on his arse a couple of times, surely it isn’t too cold for him..

Walcott.. 6.5.. Looked lively, but just went through the motions, did a very good ball across the six yard box that no one latched on to.

Vela. 6.. Didn’t really look any different from Eduardo, left footed and a bit lightweight. Sky never managed to show a replay of the penalty shout mmmm.

So all in all a bit of a piss off, I just hope normal service will be resumed next week.

Watching rafa throw a hissy fit about any potential sale of torres exposes a core conflict between the manager and the club’s management. And with Hicks and Gillete flying to the middle east and fishing for petro dollars, its no wonder that the locals are restless as they watch the mancs get whored out like a former beauty pageant contestant.

But just because it may be justified to burn effigy of Hicks and Gillete, I hope our brethren across the pond can give the rest of us yanks the benefit of the doubt and trust that we don’t all want to run epl clubs into the ground. Now for the arsenal: I absolutely believe that Wenger’s project should be brought to fruition. In order to achieve this end we have to allow the professor to do what he does best, profess. Now, as we watch Kroenke inch towards ownership, the reputation of the Glazers and the more contemporaneous combustion of pool makes us wonder all the more if we, Americans, should get involved.

This is undoubtedly a longer discussion. I’m just getting the ball rolling on a major issue that is all the more charged because off recent developments with pool. As fans we naturally fret over the fact that our club is likely going to undergo a radical change in ownership. However, more than a change of ownership, the fear is that this will produce a change in the club itself.

Now, I’m an American and I’m a fan. As a fan, I believe that the professor has, and will continue to, lead us to football glory and financial solvency. However, as an American, I like the idea of Kroneke’s increased involvement. The issue is his influence. Tune in again soon for more analysis.

The worst thing for a manager when his side are flying high is not the defeat that would end the win

The worst thing for a manager when his side are flying high is not the defeat that would end the winning run but rather injury to one of the key players. This is something Arsene Wenger knows too well now that Robin Van Persie has picked up ankle injury that will sideline him for six weeks and the first thing Le Boss needs to do is find him a proper replacement. The Gunners cannot afford to lose momentum because of the current situation since they have been defying Premiership betting odds so far and they are eager to continue the trend.

I was really surprised when Wenger didn’t buy a striker to replace Greedybayor and even more so when he shifted Van Persie to the centre forward role. The Dutch striker soon proved it was a great decision by playing an important part in Gunner’s great start of the season but now he is injured. The obvious solution would be to move Niclas Bendtner from the wing but, how about that, he is injured as well. The Dane is expected to return in two weeks’ time, which means he’ll miss at least three games. Therefore, we need someone else.

Andrei Arshavin has been used in a central role during the last 10 minutes of the AZ game and even though he did considerably well, I am not sure he is the man for the job. The Russian is best used as a second striker or alternatively on the wing, where he can work his magic and showcase his enormous talent. It would be wrong to utilize him in a position where he would play back to goal during the entire game as he simply wouldn’t be as efficient.

In the situation like this when Wenger doesn’t have a lot of options to choose from, I see Eduardo as the logical choice. The Brazilian, or if you prefer it, the Croatian forward is a highly technical player (aren’t they all at Arsenal) and he has strong enough physique to sustain the challenges of opposition centre-halves. He is extremely dangerous in the box and has the quality to create a difference if nothing else is working. Arsenal’s new style of play doesn’t require a powerful forward, hence I see Eduardo as the perfect replacement for RVP and hope Wenger shares the same opinion.

Hello all. For a friday post, usually, there’d be a match preview of some sort. There are some good international matches over the next few days.

The Irish take on the French in what I see as even a contest as it is in Rugby. Then there are the equally intriguing Bosnia vs Portugal, Algeria vs Egypt, New Zealand vs Bahrain etc etc.

These catch the eye for different reasons. I wish I could talk about them more. Maybe I will but not today, not just yet. Below are a few quotes, Arsenal related, some a little more dated but much can be read between the lines.

I’ll start with a not so recent quote shall I? This came a day after we beat Spurs in the north london derby.

On the perils of signing players, big name ones (metaphorically or literally), Wenger said this,

In ideal conditions no boss would make a mistake. It was always a race against time with opponents who may also want to sign the player. Sometimes you have to go blind and play poker.

I can see it clearly now. Flashback to Summer 2007 I believe.

Interviewer: Arsene, will Babel make the move from Ajax to Arsenal?
Arsene: Weeell, I believe he is a good player. He has great physical and mental strengths. He has a good technique and he would be a good addition to the Premier League.

A few days later, Rafa is doing his press conference shortly after Babel signed for Liverpool.

Interviewer: So Rafa, what will Babel bring to Liverpool?
Rafa: Babel is a kwality player. He is strong, he has technique and he will be a good addition to Liverpool Football Club.

Two years later and Wenger is still laughing. Poker face? Indeed. All conjecture of course but reality is stranger than fiction.

Van Persie has been talking about how he isn’t really a striker like Torres, Drogba are. That’s funny as some people still believe that Henry is a left winger while Ronaldo isn’t really a striker either.

He did say this though in what you can call his mini season review,

In the league I have now contributed seven assists and I am just as proud of these as the seven goals I have scored.

which can be translated as,

I’m only just warming up baby, the best is yet to come.

Premiership be afraid. If Wenger can make a striker of Henry who never believed in scoring tap ins, what will he make of RVP who is scoring less spectacular goals, but more ordinary goals?

Someone who didn’t feature much in the limelight until recently is Keiran Gibbs. I had reservations about his defensive abilities but he is young and he will learn. After all, Roberto Carlos is still learning how to defend.

Gibbs also believes he will get better with development on and off the pitch, both for which he is eternally grateful.

Hale End is where the English talent develops at Arsenal….It is a good place for the young English players to learn their trade.

Hear that Platini? That is the voice of a content Englishman. You were saying about foreigners? Again, rest of the Premiership, take note.

As most Arsenal games end with the opposition scoring once, how about an Arsenal related quote but from someone un-Arsenal. Darren Fletcher sounds as un-Arsenal as you can get?

Following United’s defeat to Chelsea, a disappointed Fletcher didn’t let emotion get the better out of him,

I think we are starting to see Mr Wenger’s comments starting to influence referees, which is a shame, really.

Yeah, very shameful. But enough about our gaffer Fletch, what about your gaffer? Calling a referee unfit when he ran more than half your team that night? No, not shameful at all.

On that note, I hope you enjoy the international week especially the Argentina v Spain friendly.

Hello again. First things first, I apologize if you’ve been checking in and find that there

Hello again. First things first, I apologize if you’ve been checking in and find that there’s no new post or update on the blog (Who am I kidding?, I wonder how many do actually follow my postings?) But if you have, then the only reason I can give is that there is really nothing to update. The international break is really sucking the life out of football bloggers. More so when no Arsenal player made any comment worth taking note.

Ever since the victory at Molineux, the main propaganda that the media has outlined is the possibility that Arsenal will break the 100-goals barrier in a season. This comes after 36 goals scored in the first 11 matches this season. I won’t deny it, this is a very positive point with the goals being shared all over the pitch with RVP the charge with 7 goals already while Fabregas, Arshavin, Vermaelen, Gallas and Diaby following suit. Each with 6, 4, 4, 3 and 3 respectively. Meanwhile Fabregas leads the assist chart with 10 and RVP the closest one with 7. From here it’s easily deduce that Fabregas and RVP are the vital cogs in the current Arsenal squad.

I’m all for attacking and beautiful football but it should not come at a price of conceding. Yes, we may eventually end up with well over 100 goals in the Premiership but it will count for nought if we also ended up conceding needlessly. If we propagate and expand the scores, then we might end up with 124 goals but also conceding 48 goals along the way. Now you don’t need to be a genius to know that no one finishes as champions by shipping out 48 goals in a season. While the final score may look nice with the final margin of 2 or 3 goals, it still worries me that we concede the consolation goal to the opposition.

In only 5 home games, we have conceded 4 goals. That’s almost a goal a game. Clean sheet is beginning to look like a rarity for Arsenal these days. A friend of mine thought, in the aftermath of Craddock’s headed goal, that there seem to be some kind of conspiracy against Arsenal keeping a blank score in the goal conceded column. He may be on to something there but I would prefer to think that it is just the collective approach of the squad in general.

With a commanding lead of 3 or 4 goals, there is no need to chase the game. All we have to do is play keep ball and if we do venture forward in search of the next one, the players themselves must realise the responsibility of defending. Do not overcommit simply because we are not chasing the game. If the strikers in RVP, Arshavin or whoever’s playing the Bendtner’s position wants to have a go, then by all means do. The 3 midfielders’ first and only task is to protect the backline. Too often has this happened for it not to be noticed. Not only Diaby is to be blamed in most cases, but sometimes the captain himself also commit the same mistake.

Wenger said that this group of players are the most creative he ever has. Perhaps he is right. The many different scorers and ammunition suppliers have provided him the impetus to make such a claim. But perhaps the time is also nigh for Wenger to have a closer look at the defensive line and iron out the finer details that once made us the envy of every club in the world.

With 1/3 of the Premier League already past us, Arsenal are now in 2nd place, 5 points behind Chelsea having played 1 game less than the current leaders. I know that it is too early in the season to be looking at the table but at this point, the current standings give more than just an indication of things to come.

With the exception of Sheikh City, the others have lost a minimum of 2 matches already. The Sheikhs themselves although has only 1 defeat to their name, have drawn in 5 matches. So, despite the big investment, they have not done particularly well and their form seemed to have – ever since the Manchester derby defeat. Following a bad start, Villa has suddenly sprung together a string of wins and are sitting comfortably in 5th spot. They’ve blown hot and cold this season and by the looks of it, will continue in the same fashion. Sp*rs are jut Sp*rs and will soon come to realise that they are never going to challenge for the Champions League spot.

United have lost their edge ever since they let Ronaldo leave for Madrid and it really showed against the likes of Burnley and other smaller clubs where they found it hard to make the breakthrough. In season’s past, Ronaldo made it his favourite past time to ripped apart these kind of clubs. Other than Arsenal, Chelsea are the only ones who did not seem to take any steps backwards this season compared to last. Consistently consistent is the right word but was also given a shock by the lower club in the shape of Wigan.

So that leaves us right behind the top. Up to this point, we have done tremendously well. 2 defeats both came in Manchester and the dropped points at Upton Park now looking slightly costly. We do have a game in hand which could theoretically put us just 2 points behind Chelsea. Which also means how important the 29th Nov clash is. Provided the lads maintain their good form, we could be leading the league at the end of this match. The match is also important as Arsenal have already faltered to teams in direct competition with us and will need to show that they can also win against other big boys.

Our goals for column is pretty amazing. An average of 3 goals a game (4 if you count only the home games). The best thing about that statistic is the fact that the goals are distributed throughout the whole team without being entirely dependant on any single individuals. Obviously Van Persie and Fabregas are leading the scoring chart but the likes of Diaby, Vermaelen and Gallas have also put in their share of contributions.

As good as the goals for column looks, it is that bad for the goals against column. Out of the current top 6 (Sp*rs excluded, as they always are), together with the Sheikhs, Arsenal have conceded the most number of goals. This is a very alarming fact. Yes, majority of those come in games when we’ve already won the tie but this may end up to haunt us at the end of May. Something needs to be done. Concentration levels must be increased. The awareness of the team must be drummed in by Wenger and his coaching staff. In football you can’t switch off until the final whistle.

What is most pleasing is the fact that we have a 6-0-0 record at home. It’s been a very long time since we have a fortress as a home stadium. This may finally be the year in which the memory of Highbury is replaced by Ashburton Grove. If we continue in the same vein, there’s no denying that we will be challenging for honours once again.

WOLVES v ARSENAL

Premier League, Saturday November 7th

Molineux. Kickoff 17.30

Arsenal are really proving all their pre-season doubters wrong. They’re scored freely while playing that exciting passing game that Wenger has drilled into the squad. Arsenal have been, for quite some time now, the best team to watch in the Premier League by a long way. Their football is exciting, fluent, and skilful – the way football should be played.

However, after selling Adebayor and Toure in the summer, not many pundits were giving the Gunners a chance of finishing in the top four, let alone win the championship.

How wrong they all were.

Arsenal are playing their best football for quite some time, and now the results are being strung together and the Gunners are shaping up into proper title contenders.

They have lost two games this season in the league, but Arsenal should have beaten Manchester United, and were just caught on a freak day by Manchester City.

Wenger steadied the ship immediately and their Premier League performances, coupled with their excellent Champions League form has turned Arsenal’s season around 360 degrees.

Arsenal come into this tie with Wolves on the back of a whopping 4-1 victory over AZ Alkmaar. Confidence is as high as ever and with no fresh injury worries for Wenger to contend with, Arsenal have the class and will to brush aside a plucky Wolves.

Wolves appear to be at the other end of the spectrum to Arsenal. Although they are unbeaten in their three previous games (all draws), Wolves have not won since September 20th when they beat Fulham 2-1 at Molineux.

However, their last three games are not that bad. They were beating Everton at Goodison Park until Bilyaletdinov scored a late equaliser in the 88th minute. The following weekend they met Aston Villa at Molineux and equalised with a late penalty. Still, that’s a decent result against a good Villa team, and a hard-fought local derby to boot. Last weekend, Wolves showed great guts and determination to come back from 2-0 to draw with Stoke.

Perhaps Wolves are beginning to turn their season around. Mick McCarthy, though probably not suited to international management, is a good motivator and a fine manager. He has already confirmed that Sylvan Ebanks-Blake will start this game against Arsenal while striker Chris Iwelumo has suffered a recurrence of a metatarsal injury.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Arsenal haven’t lost to Wolves in their last 13 meetings. Wolves last beat Arsenal at Highbury in 1979! In the most recent seasons, the two sides have met four times, with Arsenal winning every encounter with an aggregate score of 13-2. Their last game at Molineux was in 2004 and resulted in a 3-1 win for the Gunners. History does not look to be on Wolves’ side.

VERDICT

At first glance, everything points to an Arsenal win. At second glance, and after looking at recent form, everything still points to an Arsenal win. Wolves will be confidant of putting up a good display and there is little doubt that McCarthy will be viewing this as a vital game to get a decent result for the club. However, Arsenal’s form far outweighs anything that Wolves have ever done and the Gunners should take all three points at a canter.

RECOMMENDED

MENS WENGER SWISS MILITARY DIVER 20ATM DATE WATCH 79946 User Review I purchased this watch to be use

MENS WENGER SWISS MILITARY DIVER 20ATM DATE WATCH 79946 User Review

I purchased this watch to be used as a beater that I could wear anywhere and would not have to worry about. First off this watch is certainly not worth any more than the dollars that I paid for it (MSRP is 0). The quality is acceptable and about what I expected it to be. The bracelet that came on the watch is absolute crap, its’ made of pressed links and is very uncomfortable. If you are considering this watch, a replacement strap is a necessity. Since I intended to use the watch for rugged/outdoor wear as a beater and I expected it to see a fair amount of water use I replaced the stock bracelet with a silicone rubber strap. The watch looks much nicer with the rubber strap.

The watch itself is actually pretty nice with the only cons I have noticed so far being that the bezel is a little cheap feeling (the clicking motion feels cheap) and the mineral is a little soft, it already has two small scratches on it, though I am probably using/abusing this watch a little harder than most might be (since I bought it to be a beater).

Overall the fit and finish of the watch is fairly good, the chrome platting looks to be good quality and the face, hands and markers line up well for a low priced quartz watch. The face is clean and easy to read and looks quite nice. This watch actually keeps time very well, better than even some of my more expensive watches, +/- a few seconds per week so far. The watch feels reasonably well built.

The water resistance seams to be good though I have only used it while swimming, though after 1.5 hours of a continuous swimming workout, the watch had not taken on any water.

Note, this watch is a little on the small side especially if you have larger wrists, it is ~ 38mm across the bezel, and has a 20mm lug width, in case you were wondering since this data is not listed anywhere.

Overall, I would recommend this watch as a solid beater in the range, which should hold up pretty well to rugged use (mine has so far), but a replacement strap is an absolute must.

IDEAS: Instructional Design for Elearning Approaches

Content: Reflections and insights on elearning strategies and instructional technology design by Ferdinand Krauss.

Usefulness: he displays the information in a clear, understandable manner, his frequent references to other works (and their links), the fact that included educause as a link in his sidebar shows that he appreciates a national perspective (not interested in quirky or cute things)

his post titled: Elearning Planning and Management contains this quote: “As part of the graduate course I am taking on Planning and Management in Distance Education and Training I am reading Marc Rosenberg’s book on Elearning Strategies for Delivering Knowledge in the Digital Age.” Then he goes on to talk about the book saying:

“So far the book is a good read, but I do take issue with some of the items Rosenberg lists in his ‘Benefits of Elearning’. Keep in mind that he is coming from a corporate training perspective.

‘Despite outward appearances elearning is often the most cost-effective way to deliver instruction (training) or information.’ [this is the blogger Krauss quoting the author Rosenberg]

From a University perspective this is not necessarily the case. [this is Krauss “taking issue” with Rosenberg.

Fits into my future: it will help me sift through the massive amount of information being generated in ID and tech in educ arenas
