wie man schnell erkennen kann im selben Style aber mit einem kreativeren Headphoto von sich selbst als Identifikation und kuenstlerisches Abbild. Dies gibt dem aequivalentem Blogstyle eine individuelle Note. Wir sollten Wenzel genauso unterstuetzen mit Kommentaren so wie ihr es hier bei mir tut. Denn der Blog soll genauso aufleben und als Ergaenzung zu meinem fungieren bzw. als Informationsblog und Kuenstlerblog in einem.

Peter Schiff talked earlier today about the irony of the Federal Reserve buying TIPS. Buying inflation protection by creating money really is …. hilariously stupid. The interesting thing is that there may ultimately be a serious showdown between the US Federal Government and the Federal Reserve. If we look upon it from another point of view – what the Federal Reserve is doing by buying TIPS is actually nothing more than moving more of the future money supply onto it’s balance sheet. I think I actually understand why they are doing this – it’s another elaborate scheme to make the tax-payers take the hit from the bank bailouts. It won’t work.

TIPS Spread keeps widening

Look at it like this : The Federal Reserve has been buying massive amounts of Treasuries, something which will potentially be a problem because they cannot soak up the same amount when they sell them. This is due to the fact that the US Treasury issues TOO MANY Treasuries, piling on too much government debt. So, amidst worries that the US monetizing of it’s debt is going to cause horrible inflation – the Federal Reserve starts buying TIPS instead of only regular Treasuries. What will this mean long term? It means (assuming that the CPI figures were actually real) that the Federal Reserve will have a net inflow of cash from the Treasury, adjusted for inflation, which it will probably need to avoid insolvency (because it’s buying a lot of other rotten assets from the balance sheets of commercial banks).  There is only one problem with moving money from the Treasury to the Federal Reserve – the US government is broke, so any money the Federal Reserve gets from the Treasury, it will have to first print, exchange for new Treasuries from the US Treasury, and then be payed in!!!

It’s all a very elaborate accounting trick, which will in the end do the following :

• Add more US government debt that no one wants to purchase onto the balance sheet of the Federal Reserve
• Start runaway inflation

Well, at least the FED won’t go insolvent (phew!), something they never had to worry about in the first place, since they have a printing press…

From the other side of the fence, Robert Wenzel over at EPJ is noting that there is something weird about all the democrats getting on Ron Pauls “Audit the FED bill”. While it is positive as such, he thinks that if an audit is performed, the left is going to move for immediate nationalization of the Federal Reserve. Now, I am very much against what the Federal Reserve is up to. A private banking monopoly is REALLY BAD. Here in Sweden, we have Riksbanken, which is not private, but it is simultaneously not to be touched by politicians. Basically its a government agency that is supposed to be “floating free”, unaffected by political and private interests. I’d say it’s working decently (better than in the US for sure), because the people who work at Riksbanken seem to be a bunch of misdirected economists who aren’t interested in politics that much. 

The problem in the US is that government control of the Federal Reserve will mean one thing and one thing only. And even while the dollar may collapse without a nationalization of the Federal Reserve, having the government in direct control of the money supply will likely make any recovery from such a collapse even harder, since the government is likely to hammer down on any private group trying to create new currencies, while if the Federal Reserve was still privately owned, the government could simply take their mandate for the US money supply and hand it out to other groups (creating a free banking system). Now, I know that such an event is highly unlikely, but it gets even more unlikely if the FED is nationalized under democrat control. 

There is of course the option of re-imposing the gold standard. I had a brief discussion with my brother the other day, and we made a rough calculation that implied that the gold price would go up approx. 130 times vs the dollar if that happened. Assuming there is any gold left in Fort Knox. Buy gold, is my recommendation.

José Alberto Wenzel, chefe da casa civil do Rio Grande do Sul, defende com unhas e dentes a reeleição da governadora Yeda Crusius (PSDB-RS). “Posso te garantir uma coisa: a governadora vai para reeleição”, afirma a Terra Magazine e acrescenta que “eu, enquanto chefe da casa civil, vou lutar por isto”.

Yeda Crusius foi acusada de caixa dois durante campanha e objeto de uma CPI que investigou denúncias de fraudes no Detran. Segundo Wenzel, “ela nem pensa em renúncia”. E reforça: “Essa palavra nem existe no vocabulário dela”.

Deputados estaduais do PT-RS voltaram a defender a criação de uma CPI para investigar novas denúncias contra a governadora. Membros do partido petista chegam, inclusive, a falar em impeachment. Segundo o chefe da Casa Civil, “desde o início, temos enfrentado essas questões de falso denuncismo e colocações que não têm fundamento”.

José Alberto Wenzel enfatiza que a governadora é “a primeira a querer as fitas, gravações e outras provas”. Por outro lado, avalia que uma CPI “emperraria o Estado”:

- Não entendo o porquê de uma CPI. Para emperrar o Estado? Ao invés de dispensar esforços em obras e mudanças estruturais como o Plano de Carreira, queremos que se debrucem sobre a CPI? Acho que não.

Terra Magazine – Hoje, uma reportagem do jornal Folha de S.Paulo conta os bastidores do PSDB, que cogita apoiar o peemedebista José Fogaça para o governo do Rio Grande do Sul. Ela pensa em renuncia? E reeleição?

José Alberto Wenzel – Posso te garantir uma coisa: a governadora vai para reeleição. Nós não estamos pensando em nada diferente disto. É claro que tudo tem o seu tempo. Nós não estamos em campanha eleitoral. Mas, eu, enquanto chefe da casa civil, vou lutar pela reeleição da governadora. E, de forma nenhuma, a governadora sequer imagina a renuncia. Essa palavra nem existe no vocabulário dela. Isto é completamente inconcebível. Estamos muito seguros do nosso trabalho no Rio Grande do Sul. Renuncia é uma possibilidade que nem nos passa pela cabeça e estamos muito convictos da nossa proposta de governo.

Acredita que a articulação do PT por uma CPI seja uma maneira de preparar o terreno para a candidatura do atual ministro Tarso Genro ao governo do Estado gaúcho?

Eu diria mais. Desde o início, temos enfrentado essas questões de falso denuncismo e colocações que não têm fundamento. A governadora é a primeira a querer as fitas, gravações e outras provas. Desde o primeiro dia de governo, atravessamos este tipo de problema e sabe por quê? Porque estamos mudando o Rio Grande. Estamos desacomodando situações, tirando do conforto. Isto muda, mexe as estruturas. Tanto que transformou uma dívida histórica de 40 anos em equilíbrio de contas.

Então a governadora é a favor que se inicie a CPI?

O Rio Grande do Sul não pode passar por uma CPI que só irá engessar. Há tantos mecanismos de buscarmos esclarecimentos, seja via Ministério Público ou justiça. E isto já está acontecendo. Não há porque fazer uma CPI política no momento em que as transformações importantes do Rio Grande do Sul estão andando. Debater uma CPI na Assembléia é menos importante do que as mudanças do RS. Não entendo o porquê de uma CPI. Para emperrar o Estado? Ao invés de dispensar esforços em obras e mudanças estruturais como o Plano de Carreira, queremos que se debrucem sobre a CPI? Acho que não. O povo gaúcho já sabe quem é quem e sabe fazer seus julgamentos.

O senhor acha que falta apoio das lideranças nacionais do PSDB à governadora?

A governadora tem mantido constantemente contato com a cúpula nacional do PSDB. A figura Yeda Crusius é reconhecida nacionalmente, foi ministra e deputada federal, enfim, tem uma biografia nacional reconhecida. Portanto, entendo que as coisas vão se harmonizar. Questões de apoio estão acontecendo e devem aumentar nos próximos dias.

Fast, fun bike racing for all types of riders begins this May at Portland International Raceway

Portland, Ore. Portland International Raceway (PIR) is usually filled with race cars roaring around the track. On Monday nights May 4th thru August 31st, hundreds of cyclists will take over PIR as the River City Bicycles Monday Night Race Series kicks off its 13th season.

“Bicycle racing continues to grow in Oregon, and we see new racers each year trying it out. PIR is a great place to learn about racing,” said series organizer Jim Anderson, “We are adding clinics for novice women and men who want to see what the sport is all about, in hopes of seeing a growth in the novice category. Also, with the addition of the track being easily accessible in N Portland, we expect our great bike racing venue to be packed with racers this summer.”

After the overwhelming success of last year’s clinics, we expanded the offering. The series now offers clinics for Men on the 1st Monday’s and Women on the 2nd Monday’s of the month, and will focus on the basics of how to get started in racing. There will be a brief intro talk prior to the race start, and followed by debriefing after the race. Experienced coaches and racers will lead this. Kendra Wenzel of Wenzel Coaching is running the women’s clinic, and Men’s clinic is overseen by Russell Cree of Upper Echelon Fitness. This is a great way to see what racing is all about, ask questions and meet other riders. Clinics will run approximately 30 minutes before the race and 30 minutes after the race.

All levels and abilities are welcomed and encouraged to attend: all that’s required is a helmet, a road bike and a sense of adventure. Experienced riders from local racing teams are on hand to provide guidance and answer questions. There are separate races for novice masters men (aged 30+), novice women, and two categories for more experienced master men, and an open women category for women of any age and ability.

The course is a 1.9 mile, flat, wide and smooth paved loop of Portland International Raceway (I-5 Exit #306B) in N Portland. The raceway circuit is closed to all car traffic.

Entry fee is only $13 for women and master men, $5 for women under 18. Racers who avoid traffic on I-5 by bike commuting, or taking MAX to PIR receive $1 off entry, and race organizers will donate $1 to the Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA), a local non-profit working to make Oregon one of the best places in the world to ride a bike.

Top racers win gift certificates from River City Bicycles each night and for the monthly series, but the emphasis is on learning, improving and getting a great workout in a fun, sociable and exciting environment. Consistent riders in all categories for the season have a chance to win a Showers Pass jacket.

One of the most memorable shows I ever attended was at a warehouse in Butchertown at the end of Wenzel, past the floodwall. There were all these weird rusty fences inside and vats on the floor that had served some sort of meat-packing purpose back in the day.

“The Wenzel warehouse was great. That’s where we shot the cover for Guilt’s ‘Bardstown Ugly Box.’ I also saw a bunch of shows there, but the only ones I can remember at the moment are Crain, Ruby Falls and maybe Pale Blue Star. I vaguely remember one of the residents’ name being Joe. This would have been in 94 or 95, I guess. Is that building still standing? That place was awesome and probably carried at least a dozen insect-related diseases.”

Today was my first day back at school since late June.  I can not believe that school started.  i was kind of excited to go back to school, but at the same time I was not ready for summer to be over.  Now that school has officially started that means that I am going to have to do homework, essays, and not get into to much trouble.  

My teachers:

My teachers are awesome.  I have the best combination of teachers that I could of possibly gotten.  I have a really cool Chemistry teacher who has a wacky grading scale.  An 85% in his class is an A-, and a 75% is a B-, and so on.  I thought that that was the coolest part of his class.  I also Mrs. Boss for health.  Mrs. Boss is against giving her students homework.  She is also an awesome teacher.  Her class is going to be chill.  I am taking English 2 E-core and have Mr. Krucli as my teacher.  He is a cool teacher who i think will be able to teach me a lot about English literature and help me understand it better.  I have Mrs. Wenzel as my Math teacher.  She is a cool teacher because she gives you 180 points free in the grade book if you participate in class and have all of your materials and supplies with you.  I have Mrs. Engel (German 2) right before lunch.  She is a cool teacher who has a 4 month year old baby girl.  That class probably has the most trouble makers out of any class that I have ever been in.  I also have Mr. Opkins who is going to be my strictest teacher out of all them.  Though he can be very strict, he is also going to be a very funny teacher.  

I think that school is going to be really fun this year and I think that I will have a G.P.A. of 3.52 or higher (just a random number).

Drei Tage nach der hessischen Premiere ist heute Debattentag in Niedersachsen – soeben läuft lief im NDR (zum Live-Stream) gerade das “kleine Duell” zwischen Philipp Rösler (FDP) und Stefan Wenzel (Die Grünen), um 21 Uhr treten dann Ministerpräsident Christian Wulff (CDU) und Herausforderer Wolfgang Jüttner (SPD) gegeneinander an.

Anders als in Hessen werden die Debatten live ausgestrahlt, ein weiteres Unterscheidungsmerkmal ist die Dauer: für Rösler und Wenzel steht gerade mal eine halbe Stunde zur Verfügung, die zudem durch Einspielfilme zu den Debattenthemen (auch dies ein Unterschied zur hessischen Variante) verkürzt wird. Dadurch wird die Aufgabe für Moderatorin Susanne Stichler noch schwerer, die Diskutanten im Zaum und die Redezeitkonten ausgeglichen zu halten (ähnlich wie in Hessen zeigt ein Monitor die Sprechzeit der beiden Gäste an).

Die Zeitbegrenzung sorgt für ein enormes Tempo der Debatte, in schneller Folge wechseln die Themen, die Redner passen sich der Geschwindigkeit an und reden – schnell. Ob der NDR dem Format damit einen Gefallen erweist, wird sich zeigen. Immerhin verteilt der Sender die vorhandene Zeit auf vier und nicht nur zwei Parteien – in Hessen gab es schließlich nur das große 90-Minuten-”Duell” zwischen Koch und Ypsilanti (vgl. unten). Allerdings stellen der Sendeplatz im Vorabendprogramm und das geringe Zeitkontingent durchaus starke Einschränkungen für die Vertreter der kleineren Parteien dar.

Noch bevor die Protagonisten von CDU und SPD ein Wort gewechselt haben, steht aber der eigentliche Verlierer der niedersächsischen TV-Debatten bereits fest: es ist die Linkspartei, für die keiner der exponierten Redeplätze zur Verfügung gestellt wurde. In den jüngsten Umfragen kommt die fünfte Kraft (hier vielleicht eher: das fünfte Rad?) immerhin auch auf fünf Prozent und scheint an den Türen des Landtags zu kratzen.

Unter den wenigen sicheren Erkenntnisse zur Wirkung der TV-Debatten stechen die Mobilisierungseffekte heraus: auch wenn die prominenten Formate nur in den seltensten Fällen auf individuelle Wahlentscheidungen einwirken, durch die auch auf Landesebene nicht unerhebliche Reichweite weisen sie jedoch einiges Mobilisierungspotenzial auf. Bei ihrer Wahlkampfpremiere in Niedersachsen hat es die Linke daher nicht leichter – die Duell-Rechnung des NDR endet leider bei zwei mal zwei.

Eine Ergänzung aus dem Nachbarbüro: Christian Marx weist darauf hin, dass Rösler und Wenzel am Ende noch Gelegenheit zu einer direkten Wähleransprache haben (“Liebe Niedersachsen…”), auch dies ein Unterschied zur HR-Debatte. Bei den insgesamt vier Themen (Wirtschaft, Bildung, Umwelt, Jugendkriminalität) gab es nur für die ersten drei Einspielfilme, in denen die Positionen der Parteien wiedergegeben wurden. Eine nicht uninteressante Variante, denn noch am Sonntag wurden diese Informationen in den jeweiligen Eröffnungsstatements von Koch und Ypsilanti mitgeteilt.

Update (24.1.2008):  Die Hauptdebatte zwischen Christian Wulff und Wolfgang Jüttner ist die erwartet konfliktarme Diskussionsrunde geworden (bei der ersten Auflage eines Niedersachsen-Duells im Jahr 2003 zwischen Wulff und dem damaligen Ministerpräsidenten Siegmar Gabriel war es deutlich rauer zugegangen).

In formaler Hinsicht folgte die 2008er-Debatte den oben beschriebenen Regeln, ergänzend sollte vielleicht noch die “Stehordnung” im Studio erwähnt werden.

Durch drei trapezförmige Stehpulte waren die Diskutanten und der Moderator sehr dicht zueinander aufgestellt – die relative Nähe erzeugte eher die Atmosphäre einer herkömmlichen Pressegesprächsrunde und nicht so sehr die eines auf Konfrontation ausgelegten “Duells” (vergleichbare Anordnungen liefern häufig die Vizepräsidentschaftsdebatten in den USA, die häufig im Format der “Presserunde”, nicht selten auch in sitzender Position an einem Schreibtisch, durchgeführt werden).

Auch die postdebate debate fällt weniger laut aus als in Hessen, hier einige Kostproben:

El primer post va dedicat, com no, a un dels meus clarinetistes preferits, Wenzel Fuchs, solista de la Filharmònica de Berlín. Curiosament, és difícil trobar alguna cosa sobre ell per internet,només algunes petites biografies en alemany i alguna entrevista, com la de ClariPeru (recomanada si el voleu conéixer un poc més); a més de un sol video al youtube (al final del post) i algunes pàgines on es venen els seus enregistraments. També en un article d’El País he trobat una petita explicació de la seua vida, que diu:

Cuando Wenzel Fuchs (1963, Innsbruck) tocaba el clarinete por esos pueblos perdidos de los Alpes austriacos no imaginaba que acabaría formando parte de la mejor orquesta del mundo. Pero aquellas músicas de raíces populares que interpretaba con las bandas de viento por las localidades de los alrededores de Innsbruck hicieron calar en él una vocación que le acompañaría toda su vida. A los 19 años debutó como solista de la orquesta de la Volksoper de Viena y en 1993 ingresó en Berlín. Ya es de los veteranos, y ahora está volcado en la educación. Enseña en la academia de la Filarmónica, en la Universidad de Sakuyu (Japón) y en el conservatorio de Shanghai.

Del clarinet solista de la Filharmònica de Berlín també podem destacar la seua curta discografia (tinc problemes amb la connexió, quan puga penjaré la seua discografia).

Finalment, vos penge l’únic vídeo que he trobat al youtube on apareix com a solista. És un enregistrament molt cutre i cassolà, però no hi ha res millor. Si realment voleu veure’l en acció, podeu vore vídeos al youtube o en DVDs de la Filharmònica de Berlín dels últims anys.
