Unsigned Dubstep Competition

The ‘Unsigned Dubstep Competition’ is a small competition running on Facebook which is aimed at music producers. The competition sees for the chance of producers from all around to come and showcase their music through Facebook and Sound Cloud.

Each producer has to post one of their most impressive tracks onto a Facebook page, a top 5 selection is picked and posted onto the competitions Sound Cloud page and left for the public to decide who the winner is.

I came across the competition by accident and decided to post one of my older tracks to see what would happen as I have not made anything ‘Dubstep’ related in quite some time. I was shocked when I was picked for the top 5 as the track I had used was produced around a year ago.

I am awaiting the results of the competition and as soon as I find out I will share with you all.

For our Studio Production project our group which consists of me, Alex Eyre, Joe Vickers and Scott Cullen, have decided to do a re-mixed version of The Specials – Ghost Town:

In the first session we had together we got down the basic idea and set about assigning different tasks to each other so that we could learn the track and have something to start with. This meant learning different sections of the track each and understanding the instrumentation used in the track.

We intend to give the track an updated mix with the inclusion of an MC which will almost reinvent this hugely classic track.
