Emergency lights with Time Delay are designed for use in facilities with gas vapor lighting systems.

The Time Delay option that is available on our steel, wet location, and industrial emergency lights is designed to ensure egress illumination after a power outage is over, but before general lighting is at full power.

Gas vapor lamps such as fluorescent, metal halide, mercury vapor, and high pressure sodium have what is known as a “warm up time”. The warm up time refers to the time needed for gas vapor lamps to reach full power, or luminosity.

Most emergency lights turn off when power is restored, but in facilities with gas vapor lamps, light from emergency fixtures is still needed after power has been restored. So, the Time Delay option keeps emergency lights on for 15 minutes after power is restored, while gas vapor lamps warm up to full luminosity
