Time, Is this really a property of the universe? or something that humans have invented. There are different clocks to measure the time like atomic clock ,oscillation of light beam, etc., Everyone thinks that time is not static at all but it is not always true .It really varies at various point in the universe. The space and time can be wrapped using a very high gravity. Actually the Sun and its planets are doing this with their gravitational property. Einstein’s theory states that the speed of light is always constant at any give frame of reference. The frame of reference is stating about whether the observer is moving/static. whatever the case it is ,the speed of light is always constant. If the speed of light is constant then what else is changing, it is the Time that is changing. If you started moving nearly to the speed of light then your clock will start ticking slowly. If time is considered as a straight line, then with help of a high gravity we can bend the time and make into circle so that you can end up in the place where you haven’t started the journey yet so time will become static for you and you wont get aged at all.

This strange behavior actually happens inside the black hole, where nothing can escape from the gravity, even light has fallen as a victim in the hands of gravity. So how this gravity really works at the particle level. Actually no one knows how the gravity really works at the particle level. we do have a theory about Graviton which is yet to be discovered in the lab. In our day to day life we think that gravity is a very weak force. But when it comes in the universe, it is considered as a strong force that holds all the stars and other objects together in the Galaxy. Each Galaxy holds a black hole at its center . Black hole gives a one way gate pass, once some one goes inside its horizon gate then there is no return at all.

But i am not sure whether we can produce gravity in the lab. It is the only force present everywhere in the universe. The more I read about gravity, the more interesting it is. I am not sure whether mass is lost or not while producing the gravity. From my point of view I consider gravity as a force , in order to exert a force energy is required ,energy can be obtained only by losing mass . My point is a bit strange but it is a valid one. People are working in detecting the Gravitational Wave ,which may give some answer

I am not able to co-relate gravity in religion. we can say Brahman as Singularity or Black Hole where everything came out into existence.

Everyone that knows me knows that i have been influenced by my Grandma. She was my safe home. She is my love. I couldn’t thank God enough for placing her in my life. One year and one week ago my Grandma accepted Jesus as Savior. She lived a good life…but the last year…she lived a great life. We are telling her story today in my home town of Blythe. At 3pm, the celebration of her life will begin. I was asked by her to do her remebrance…but I can’t…my heart will not allow me…so I will say a little something along with a cousin LJ to bring honor to her. Here is what I will say…

Reflection:

The word “proud” is a powerful word. People are often proud of things…and people. Sometimes that proud is a mask that is hiding what is real. Sometimes it’s not. If I could speak for ALL the grandkids, then I could say we are proud to have been influenced by grandma. Influence shapes a soul, and our souls have been shaped for the better.

My prayer today is that we would look at the clouds…they are breaking…the storm will always be there…but there IS a light shining through. Its there to give you Hope. We have a Hope. Grandma had a Hope. That Hope is the Christ…who is Jesus. May we place our hope in Him today.

I know today is a funeral…a day of remembrance…a day of honoring. It would not be complete if I didn’t tell you that God is near… In the past year when Grandma didn’t feel ok she would say, “ya know Shane I know God is going to take care of me…He hasn’t let be down yet…and I’ve been through a lot…shoot- we all have been through a lot.” And then, “Honey quit that! You are worrying me.” (Grandaddy messing with something in front of her)

The Bible says, “He is near the broken hearted.” God mourns with you…meaning you’re not in this alone. Know that God is still good. And If He doesn’t do anything else for us in our lives, that doesn’t change God’s goodness. He was good enough to let this great woman be apart of our lives…that is good.

There are reflections of my Grandma in many of you in this room. That reflection will continue through the generations just as they reflected through the past. Today her eyes no longer reflect pain, they reflect a Savior.

Over a year ago, She prayed to God and asked Him many things. One of those things was to make her well in the hospital so she could go home. I can say…He did.

The biggest question I am having in life is who I am. This is a common question for so many people . But most of the people who asks the question never used to work to find an answer for that. I tried finding the answer and I am still searing for the same. May be one day I will find it

Science is the best place to search for an answer because you will get an answer with reason/Proof. We are nothing but a part of universe, So it is inevitable to understand the universe before understanding who are you. What really the universe consist of and how it made and how it came into picture.

The answer for the universe is the big bang. The big bang happened around 14 billion years from a singularity. The singularity is a single point from which the bang happened. The property of the physics is broken down inside the singularity. The physics cannot able to explain why the bang happened and what was there before the bang. There is no unified theory to explain everything. Lets hope the String theory can become the unified theory of everything . String Theory has to give the lab proof to some of the particle it explains. If it does then we will have a theory of everything with parallel universes.

Since science is yet to give an answer for everything, I thought lets see what the religion is saying. I checked with Christianity first. It says the earth was made around 4500 years back. Bad figure about the earth’s age. So I checked with Hinduism , a very old religion and no one knows when it was started. Hinduism tells universe is always there. It is a cycle that universe undergo a destruction and it will emerge again. The point here is that it will be always be there. So we cannot ask the question like when it all began. So what is the frequency of the cycle, It is the life time of Brahma around 311 trillion years. After that he dies and born again to rule the universe.

I remember we were discussing transhumanism in Ethics class when I mentioned I would not mind becomi

I remember we were discussing transhumanism in Ethics class when I mentioned I would not mind becoming immortal, because that meant that I will have enough time to read all the classics in English literature.

“What classics?” Yao Zong had asked.

I showed him my collection of Shakespeare in my iphone. At that time I only had that, and a couple of Fitzegarld, Hesse, Nietzsche, and Darwin. All of which are neither English nor literature, so it was a little hard to prove my point.

Even now when I’ve downloaded about 60 books into Stanza and finished about ten, I realize that most of them neither English nor literature. A hodge-podge of American, German, Irish, and Russian books, with a heavy slant towards science fiction, meet my eyes instead. Arguably some of them are English classics, such as the entire collection of Sherlock Holmes – goodness I had no idea he had a brother, and a nemisis! – and a choice selection of H.G. Wells grace my digital shelves. However, it seems that I have to revise what I said to Yao Zong.

It is not purely classics in English literature I am interested in. It is, though, rather hard for me to categorize what I like.

When I read a book, it must needs reference a previous book, or even books. Like how Micheal Critchton’s Jurassic Park echos Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World, or how Aldous Huxely’s Brave New World echos Shakespeare’s The Tempest. I take it upon myself to hunt down these echoes – read the myth of Odepius as it was in Grecian lore before Freud reworked it, seek out the invisible man before Alan Moore takes him on a new adventure in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The echos are numberless, and it will take a lifetime of referencing before a proper detailed map is well constructed – yet in my forays I have made progress upon small areas.

In transhumanism, for example. I’d based my final ethics essay on transhuman societys in Warren Ellis’s Transmetropolitan, and since then I’ve been curious to find out what other authors have written upon this subject. It is very interesting to see how concepts of transhumanism are re-framed by the particular era it is written by – I have recently finished Zagat’s Seven Out of Time, written in 1939, and it was fascinating to see how everlasting war was predicted along with transhumanism. Concepts of humans being re-fashioned to increase their productivity and separated into disctinct stratas of society seem to be influenced by Huxley’s Brave New World, previously published in 1932.

In Brave New World though, the only war ongoing is the war on production. Countries compete to produce the most babies from a single ova, and in scientific breakthrough. That, of course, is a indication of the time in which the story is written, with the first world war over, and the economy trying to recover by being competitive. Nevertheless, the writer intends it to be a dystopian world, and the pursuit of science to such a extreme degree is discouraged.

In the modern handling of the subject, though, the writer has given up all notions of dystopia or utopia brought about by bio-engineering. Its as if modern philosophy has gone beyond that – once it has looked into the abyss, its decided to throw its hands up and give up the ghost. Transhumanism is liberal, all humans have free choice to decide their enhancements, and it results in more or less a usual cityscape, albeit with even greater diversity than ever. Science is science, amoral but for the people who use them. Transmet captures the fragmentation of modern society and the ennui of the city people through the theme of transhumanism.

It is of interest to me to trace the evolution of the concept of transhumanism through the ages. I have several other pet subjects – dystopian/totalitarian societies, memories, obsession, time travelling, gothic romanticism, and so on, and chasing them leads me through not only fiction, but non-fiction texts as well. Books on philosophy, science, and psychology, all relevant to better understanding the subjects I’m studying through fiction.

Fiction, after all, is on the possibilities of humankind. My study is really quite useless other than for self-gratification, exercising my imagination, creating better stories, and for entertaining others on a dreary weekend, if there is anyone who would turn from their screen to hear me tell of the stories I have read.

The past few days I’ve been feeling my mind getting mouldy, and so its time to take out the duster and clear the clutter a little, so I may set the mechanism in motion again.

I would like to contest a point made in this blog, that:

“All we need is to believe that good and evil exist. Where it comes from — from reason, from God, from self-interest — does not matter. It is enough to believe that good and evil exist. If we do, then that alone gives us enough — necessary! — reason to live. That is our purpose. That is the meaning of life — that we live because we must fulfill our moral duties and obligations.“

I beg to differ. But before I ramble on, you may want to read his reasoned argument here so that we are on the same page.

For those who would rather get a condensed version, I shall summarize his argument thus:

It is hard to find the meaning of life. Can we approach the problem from another direction by asking instead “is there a necessary reason for you to live?”

If morality exists, there exists a necessity for you to do good instead of bad. As “you need to be alive to obey the demands of morality”, morality demands your existence. “You have therefore a moral duty to live and it comes from the fact that your living is a prerequisite to almost all the things that morality demands of you.”

“There is reason to live. You must live. If you do not, you cannot bring a smile to another’s face. If you do not, you cannot inspire others. If you do not, you cannot help a person in need. Do you believe these are things that you should do, because they are morally required of you? Then you must live. And you must always live knowing that the reason you live is for the moral good.“

I beg to differ, because I do not live for the necessity of doing good, and I am surprised at how he has constructed the argument such that upholding morality justifies existence. Such that without morality, and without God, life ceases to have reason.

Morality, as far as I know, is a burden on living life. Rousseau had it right when he said that “Man is born free, and is everywhere in chains”. The codes of conduct of society, law, and personal morality restrict the liberty of an individual to experience life to its fullest. Life has its own reasons, being moral limits its potential.

I guess I’ll have to explain what I believe is the meaning of life, in order to justify my words. I believe that everyone comes up with their own meaning of life, that there is no common meaning of life for everyone. Mine is simple, I live to delight in the world. I live for the taste of yellow nectarines, for the sight of piercing blue of dawn, for the patter of rain, for the warmth of a fire. And yet it is not purely sensual pleasure – I live for the half-world I conjure from the dry pages of a book, I live to leap from word to word on a well written poem, I live to deconstruct obscure texts into pure, clear meaning. And I live also, to create, to weave stories from emotion and fragments of thought, to touch someone to tears. Writing is cruel, I seek not to bring a smile to people’s lips, but to wrench their hearts so hard they need to wring dry their tears with racking sobs.

So there you have it, I live for sensory pleasure, for intellectual pleasure, for the pleasure that creating things give me. It has nothing to do with moral duty to do good. I do not live to help a person in need – you could almost say I am quite selfish and self-centered in my reasons for living. Who isn’t? Even a social worker lives for the pleasure that helping others gives him, he does not live for the obligation of being moral by helping others. Take for example a person who hates helping others, although he believes that helping others is good. Will he live in order to help others, or will he rather kill himself instead, if that’s all the choice life gives him?

There is, however, a possibility that I might have mis-read the author of the post. It all hinges on the definitions of good and evil, which is not made clear in the argument. How far am I able to stretch the definition of good/evil/moral?

If I am able to define “good” as that which is pleasurable, and “bad” as that which is not, I feel there might be a compromise between our two distinct arguments for the meaning of life.

Honestly though, I do not see a “duty” to do good, even if doing good means to do things that are pleasurable. It is hard for me to conceive of the meaning of life as a duty to do good.

It will be interesting to see a comment on my point of view from the original author of the post, as I still believe that his breadth of knowledge and grasp of logic is better than mine. I have kept my promise though, yet intellectual debate is something that I cannot resist, hence this chunky post.

I’m sure you have all heard Kate Moss is in trouble again! Seriously, she walks away from one problem, and into the next. For someone so successful she doesn’t seem to have a head on her shoulders. But I’ll leave that rant for another day. When asked in an interview with a fashion news website called WWD if she had a motto, Moss was quoted as saying: “There are loads. There’s ‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.’ That’s one of them.”

“Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels”? Hmm personally I’ll have to disagree but of course I would. I’m one of the lucky women who know that being “skinny” is NOT sexy. I don’t know what the perfect weight or perfect figure is and frankly I don’t want to. At the moment I am reading a book called “The Secret”. There is a chapter dedicated to being healthy and watching your weight. We can use what is called The Creative Process to CHOOSE our weight. I’m not here to “preach” or try make you believe what I believe. But I realised I have followed this way of thinking way before I was ever introduced to the book and I will continue to follow this way. Because I believe in this way of thinking I now know that I am my weight because I know I’m not fat and know I never will be. It’s quite hard for anyone who hasn’t read the book to believe in this way if thinking so I’m moving on from the subject. And like I said before I am not here to start convincing anyone to believe me. Everyone has their own way of dealing with weight and no should be told what to do when it comes to controlling their weight but I feel strongly about the fact that no one needs to deprive themselves of food or cause harm to their body when doing so. Everyone has their own way of thinking and if you believe in the likes of diet pills, counting calories and the other tortures to staying slim. That’s your business.

Looking at someone who is too slim makes me uncomfortable, everyday it’s all we read about and it’s sad to think we have to be categorised by our weight and the way we look. Too be honest I’m delighted I’m not a celebrity having to deal with that everyday. I actually feel quite sorry for them. The fact that Kate Moss said something so ridiculous really annoyed me. This woman is a Mum to seven year old Lila! A Mum is every daughter’s role model. How can she say something like that and not expect her daughter to follow her footsteps?! I have a little sister, I have young cousins, and I have friends both old and young. I know they will never feel they need to be skinny or go through any harmful procedures to become skinny. That’s because they are smart. If there is anyone out there who is suffering from illnesses such as anorexia or bulimia, I pray that you recover and that you see sense before you seriously harm your body. Reading about this Kate Moss scandal, I found out there is such a thing called pro-anorexia sites. PRO!! Maybe I’m being completely naive again but I couldn’t believe there was such a thing and that these sites are allowed to actually operate. I decided to have a look at these websites, what a bad idea! My blood boiled when reading! Whoever decided to set this website up makes it all very convincing. She calls it “beauty”? Shame on her! Although I refuse to name these websites in fear of anyone visiting them, let me show you what I read:

“Because of how it started, and because of the nature of human beings, this is site on the surface is about eating disorders. You rarely see people going online and searching for “fatspiration” or “how do I get obese. I guess in sense, this is IS about anorexia and about eating disorders, but it is about so much more. XXXXX is about acceptance; about confidence; about opinions that we all hold within ourselves about how we see ourselves and how the world sees is. This site, in the most general sense, and also at its core, is about the word “beauty.” Just as I said that you won’t find people going around and searching for “how do I get fat” online, you also won’t find them going around and looking for “how do I become ugly.” You won’t find ads on popular sites trying to sell products on getting fat or ugly.

But what is fat? What is ugly? Are these just terms related to beauty in the same way “slow” could be related to running? Different cultures define beauty in different ways. Within cultures, different people define beauty in different ways. And even people, at different phases in their lives, may define beauty in different ways. If one thing is certain, it’s that people have different opinions, and these can change depending on where you are, what you’re life looks like, and even what century you were born into. This site is about beauty. This may be the one place where it is okay to say “this is what I define beauty as.” You determine what you want for yourself, and for once, be in a place where people will respect you for it. It may not be what they want for themselves; it may not be how they view beauty. But that doesn’t mean YOU have to see it their way to be their friend. It doesn’t mean that you have to be one way or another to respect them.”

Basically, this website refers to the promotion of anorexia nervosa (pro-ana) and bulimia (pro-mia) as a lifestyle choice rather than an eating disorder. In my opinion half of what is above doesn’t actually make sense? Not only reading it, the photos I have just seen are unbelievable. It makes me sick to my stomach. These young and beautiful looking girls are sending images of themselves into this website for others to see! There is also a section called ‘pictures of the week’. I’m repulsed, I really am. I really can’t believe it. I’m in complete shock! These websites should be banned! And I hope any parents who allow their children to use a computer, blocks them. I hope to god anyone who reads this blog can honestly smile over how their body looks. Because the images I just saw are NOT beautiful! Everything and anything about being skinny is not beautiful, and I know neither is being obese/over-weight (I won’t be completely naive and patronising here). But please don’t put your body through anything to become ‘skinny’ whatever ‘skinny’ is. Appreciate you taking the time to read this.

Someone once told me that the brain can only handle 7 independent thoughts at once. Thoughts on my mind right now:

1. Boy it’s early for me to be drinking my seltzer water and thinking about eating the leftover mashed potatoes I brought for lunch.

2. I love fratmusic.com.

6. There are 943 unread items in my Google Reader as a result of my busy-ness at work lately. This stresses me out beyond all belief.

7. Over the break I’m going to a concert (one eskimO), the movies (NEW MOON BABY), and bowling. I’m going to eat between 2-5 pounds of turkey.

Are you traveling? Are you going to shop on Black Friday? Do you spend as much money on iTunes as I do? Do you like seltzer water? Mashed potatoes at 9 a.m.? Do you have an iPhone, should I get one? I love my flip phone. It’s so early 2000s.

Sorry for the random. I’m delusional with stress and excitement.

Monday morning (again). This weekend flew by.

As I logged in to WordPress today, and typed the username lifeneedsediting, for the first time I really felt the pertinence of this blog name I’ve chosen. At the time, I was thinking more like when you say something stupid and wish you could edit your language, when you accidentally reply all to an e-mail to 40 people you don’t know that starts “hey sweetie,” when you drink that whole bottle of wine by accident and think people are simply stealing wine from it when it was you all along (true life: I’m highly suspicious).

But more than that are those big fat regrets. Bad decisions. Poor life choices that were perhaps appropriate in college but are less and less acceptable (see: excessive wine drinking, above). Sometimes it’s hard to remember you’re an adult when you’re in your twenties. I still feel like a little kid, like a teenager, like a college student. Buttttt I’m not anymore. Ew.

On Friday two of my closest friends at work here were laid off because of budget cutbacks. I will miss them very, very much and their absence come 12/31 will be a very difficult adjustment. It makes you think maybe you should have spent more time with them while you could and appreciated them more instead of taking advantage that you’d have more time to talk with them, learn from them, and develop friendships.

Friday was a hard day. But today is Monday. And there’s no way to retro-edit anything. So, what’s happened has happened, and all we can do is live today, live tomorrow, live the next day as they come. One day at a time. One crazy hour of coordinating a magazine at a time. One day less of your friends at work at a time.

Last night my Mom told me about a special Christmas surprise for me and my brother on Christmas Day. I said “OOOOO CAN I PLAY 20 QUESTIONS!?!?!?!” She said, “Sure!” And as I started to phrase my first question she cut me off mid-sentence to say, “After Thanksgiving. We’re not rushing through Thanksgiving to get to Christmas. We don’t rush through days to get to more important days. Sunday is just as important as Monday. As Wednesday. As Friday. After Thanksgiving, you can play 20 questions.”

She’s so wise.

So, even though I’m dying to go home today, right this minute, I won’t rush through this long and looming Monday in order to get to Thursday. Because as everyone knows, in your haste, you make waste. And that could lead to more desire to retro-edit.

Sorry for the waxing philosophical this morning—it’s been a crazy few weeks.

But, here’s to Monday. For what it is.

(The last seconds of that video are the funniest, stick it out.)

As we all know that the world now is facing a big disaster in the history of world economic. This happens because the rapid decrease in the dollar and never happen in United Stated nation history. The decrease of dollars somehow effected the economic is some nations in the world including Malaysia. The global financial crisis of 2008 – 2009 began in July 2007 when a loss of confidence by the investors in the value of securities mortgages in the United States resulted in a liquidity crisis that encouraged a considerable injection of capital into financial market by United States Federal Reserve, Bank of England and the European Central Bank. In September 2008, the crisis depends, as stock markets worldwide crashed and entered a period of high volatility, and a considerable number of banks, mortgage lenders and insurance companies failed in the following weeks. The continuity development of the crisis prompted fears of a global economic collapse. The financial crisis is likely to yield the biggest banking shakeout since the savings and loan melt down. The economic breakdown not only makes United Stated banking system collapse but also the world. This also indirectly hits Malaysia which make our Gross Domestic Profit become negative. Malaysia also is doing the same as other country that is inject money to the banking system so that it will still survive although in economic crisis. Injection may help the borrower to pay less interest because the interest rate is cut down by the injection. Some people keep wondering why the currency of Unites States did not make a lot of changes. This is because financial crisis is not affecting the currency because currency involved the government of United States. The government of every company will try their best to keep the currency high. Financial crisis happen because of the collapse of the banking system which they give a lot of mortgage then debtors cannot pay back what they owed. Big company in United States collapse because they give mortgage then did not give any return to them. What can be done to help in lowering the financial crisis is people have to consume so that the Gross Demand profit can be higher. When consumer lost their purchasing power this will lead to worsen the economic crisis for the country. Recession will end if the demand again exceeds supply. That’s when businesses start hiring again and consumers feel secure enough to spend. So right now, what Malaysia can do is try to ask consumer to consume so that the buying power of the consumer will be higher.

In a post called “Younis Quits Again” at Stani Army by TJ we had a very good and healthy discussion in comments which I am reproducing here for your appetite and also would like you to take part in it too. I am putting some excerpts from the post but You may still like to read original post here.

“Younis’ overall aim and intentions may have been correct, to unite the players and bring in much-needed discipline. The problem Younis had is the way he has gone about it and his poor personal performance. The constant quitting would have caused him to lose the respect of his players and his lack of runs meant he had nothing behind him to back up his arguments. In this situation, there was no way he could have continued as leader as he would have been constantly undermined and questioned, be it in the media, behind closed doors, or as it has emerged, on the pitch.”

Younis Khan, Cricinfo

He added:

“The question for the Pakistan team is will they find the right leader? As for Younis, will he get into any of our sides just as a player? I would keep him in our Test side as long as his future Test performances are like those of the past. In this case, Younis must be prepared to come back into the Test side only as a player, roll up his sleeves and get on with it in a quiet an honourable manner.”

And then here goes the discussion, it is in a bit odd order but if you will get along you will get the point. I will also do a post on combining all those points made here later but would like more people perspective here.

Rayden Says:
Wow, Younis actually quit again. Of course the reports are that he wanted rest and he hasnt actually quit. But Younis is indeed trying hard to disappoint cricket fans who genuinely admire him.Regarding Yousuf – well he is definitely an awesome batsman but never thought of him as captaincy material. Also I dont know if he is 100% committed to Pakistan cricket. He seems like a player who mainly plays for himself. Mind you I could be wrong on this!!

Wasim Says:
“No matter how the players felt about the captain, they should not be using games that they play for their country to try and undermine him. If they did, then just simply looking back at the performances of the players in recent games will give you an insight into which players this disgruntled group was made up of.”Thats exactly how I think about this problem. For YK’s personal form and poor decision-making we all grilled him enough but when a player enters the ground wearing those green shirts they are playing for the country and not for themselves underperformance should not be rewarded and should not go unpunished. The question for the Pakistan team is will they find the right leader?I think right now the questions one should ask are:Why these players are constantly conniving against each other for captaincy? Are there some extra monetary incentives attached with it about which we don’t know? Why PCB management bends backward in front of player’s power? Do these players hold any secrets due to which they can’t be dropped or axed from the team or punished for playing politics in the team?

Sid Says:
He quit again? Ay ay ay!! Like Rayden, I had read that he was just after a break but not has not actually stepped down. Although, I admit that I have lost track – he can’t seem to make up his mind!!Would PCB pick him just as a player? Would he want to play if he’s not captain? That wouldn’t be easy.

Reverse Swing Says:
MoYo is test captain now instead of YoYo who is resting, Pakistan cricket has become a YoYo, well said at BCC!.Well there is an intense public demand to rectify players who have underperformed and bring them to justice and people will not argue who ever the player is. But this is not likely to happen, as the board is actually only Uncle Sargam (the Butt) and he knows he is good for nothing and not able to run things so he will use all possible aid he can weather it is players, politics or favoritism to enjoy his remaining days and thats what he is doing.Only Younis was the man who could have done that, if he had taken a stand against all those culprits and threaten them to be dropped or punished somehow as captain whichever come under his power, that might lead to losing his captaincy or his place in team anyway but it might have brought the matter in public and then public will force the board to take some action and Younis can be back after all that. But his own form and his past hanky panky behavior is not what favoring him to take this kind of extreme step or he might not have the guts. But now he is silent on all this which may cause lot of damage to Pakistan cricket leaving his career aside.

Stani Army Says:
Purna
If Afridi was one of them, some of the statements he’s been making in the media are just out-of-order. Saying things like “I don’t think he should have taken the decision to skip the [New Zealand] tour” but then trying to get rid of him at the same time is just cunning and deceitful.Rayden
I’d be surprised if he himself comes back after this. I wouldn’t be surprised if the PCB allowed it though as they’re just clowns. I share your views to some extent in regards to Yousuf. From the outisde he does look as so. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.Wasim
These alleged players haven’t given the slightest thought about us the fans have they? Surely this under-performing, if it happened, amounts to match fixing right? The problem is it’s difficult to prove. You ask some interesting questions about the players and the PCB Wasim. Would you link this to match fixing i.e. certain players now things so use this as blackmail in getting what they want? I myself hope it’s not like this. I prefer to be of the opinion that if such secrets did exist then they would have come out by now due to the obvious divisions in our squad and administration.Sid
No, he’s back….just kidding! The initial reports said he wanted to rest but a day after, Younis himself was quoted as saying he had “no command over the team”. Something remarkable would have to happen for this team to gain that respect for him again in order for him to come back as captain and be successful. For Younis to be picked and for Younis to want to play without being captain, there would have to be some damping down of egos. This will be very difficult.

Reverse
You can add to that Dodo….he’s running the board. Yes, had Younis performed well himself then no one could have had any arguments against him. If he doesn’t get back in the side, I don’t think he’d be silent for too long.

Wasim Says:
StaniIt’s a mixture of groupism and corruption. Corruption creates the extra monetary benefits for which these players fight with each other and as a result groups are formed. The managers in the past have played a role of overseeing the interest of PCB boses.Remember when Nasim Ashraf took over he changed Waqar Younis for no reason basically he said Waqar will not travel with the team and Waqar immediately resigned later on Mushtaq was appointed as assistant coach who was allowed to travel with the team and we all know what happened afterwards.Intikhab has been at the center of every match fixing controversy. Those who don’t believe should read justice Qayyum’s report.During Imran’s era seniority would not guarantee you a place in the team only performance was the main criteria. Even Miandad was dropped a few times, Imran himself pulled out of a few series to regain his bowling rythym, Salim Malik, Ejaz Ahmed, Ramiz Raja they all get dropped several times. Why PCB is so afraid to drop players like Afridi and Malik.
Some people say that some players are crowd pullers and play in the team just because of their star power but look how many people came to watch Pak games in Dubai in comparison to the last time, the constant bickering amongst the players and a general sense that some of these players are actively involved in throwing matches will eventually keep fans away from the grounds. But PCB chairman dusts everything under the carpet and doesn’t want to admit of any corruption, the problem will remain alive until an honest attempt is made to resolve it.

Just imagine if PCB is taken over by CA how many players from the current lot would survive.

Surprisingly PCB displays a very high tolerance when it comes to bad behavior and under performance by the players.

As regards Younis Khan I will not all of a sudden turn him into a saint. He also has a shady past. It was not too long ago when similar collapses happened under Malik, YK and Afridi were the main culprits then. What goes around comes around, Younis is just like a cat who decided to go on a pilgrimage after killing 900 mice. At the twilight of his career he all of a sudden wanted to become Imran Khan.

When Younis took over he was backed by all the seniors and as gratitude he supported a seniority based selection policy and also introduced a quota based rotation policy.
His second mistake was not to take time off when he first realized that he wasn’t fit.
The third mistake was that the Punjabi players gradually became more insecure under him. The frequent changing of batting orders, and the public criticism of Yousaf by YK’s media lobbyists created a new friction in the team.
He didn’t handled players like Misbah and Yousaf properly,at times he was not on speaking terms with these players.

The solution to the whole problem is simple, Butt as chairman of PCB should quit, a couple of players should be permanently axed from the team. Pakistan should announce different captains for all three formats and should announce a pool of players for all three formats, Afridi for T20, Yousaf for ODi’s and Younis for test matches Younis should retire from Odi’s.

Wasim
If this goes on then these players must be stupid. Surely the monetary benefits of being a successful team far outweigh those that these players achieve by their corruption? The Waqar case; I think he was sent home after being told he wasn’t needed as coach for the ODIs. I think it was in South Africa. He resigned in protest of this. I must admit, it was a strange scenario.Reading Justice Qayuum’s report, it’s clear that Intikhab Alam and Rashid Latif were at war with one another. What is also clear is that Saleem Malik was as dodgy as they come. It was interesting that Intikhab did not include Latif when he said “Out of the players whom I consider absolutely clean are Rameez Raja, Aaquib Javed, Aamir Sohail and Saeed Anwar.”If the PCB was to be taken over by CA, that would be ideal! We’d eventual have players with an Australian mentality but with Pakistan talent – frightening!Ijaz Butt is a clinger on. I’d be surprised if he ever resigns. The guy will have to be sacked and I sincerely hope someone does it. We cannot have a dithering fool running our board. Even after scathing criticism by members of parliament not so long ago, the guy ignored it and carried on in his merry ways.It could be interesting if we have different captains for each form. It would mean that mean problems would not cross over into the other teams. Who are these players you’d permanently axe?

That’s just how it normally is.BTW – Can I please use a picture in the above for one of my articles. I’ll link it to you.

Go for it, you’re free to use what you like mate.Younis’ captaincy was very average and mostly reactive rather than pro-active and littered with mistakes. His batting is good in Tests but he doesn’t quite have the same effect in the shorter forms.

Waqar was told he won’t travel with the team on foreign tours, It was before the CT 2007 or the WC I exactly don’t remember but later on allowed Mushy to travel with the team. They used to get upto $300000 for throwing one test match, several players are on record admitting this, I don’t think they get this much money as win bonus. When one examines Intikhab’s role, from his recorded statements he knew for quite some time that certain players were involved in match fixing but he never made it public or reported it to the higher authorities. He kept on taking oaths from the players. What a farce, the guy is a partner in three textile mills. Some people say that the tapes Rashid presented were pre- edited and some portions of the converstaions which related to him and some other players were deleted. Why did he tempered with those tapes only god knows. But over all I think Rashid is clean but he is a Phuday Baaz.I would axe Malik and Misbah pemanently and Younis from the Odi’s. Will issue a stern warning to Yousaf and Afridi.

And the saga continues. Just what IS it with Younis Khan and the fellowship of the captaincy?Stani and the rest of the knowledgeable guys , just a question. Do you think perhaps the PCB ought to go the clean slate way like SA did a long time back? Weed out the troublemakers, instill a promising youngster at the help – a true leader , and rebuild parts of the team? There is some time to go for the WC, and its not like there’s ever a dearth of talent in Pak. If that’s the case, any youngsters you’ve got in mind?

I was thinking generally, to be part of a winning team and all the benefits that come with it (e.g. international success, IPL, sponsorship deals etc), it would be far more beneficial than throwing the odd match… not to mention being able to rest with a clear conscience. But I guess that requires hard work and that’s something our lot don’t like. You make a good point about Intikhab not raising it with the authorities, but instead asking the players to take oaths. I think this showed his lack of cunning rather than the opposite. In that respect, do you think he’d be clever enough to play the ‘Godfather’ role and come out squeaky clean and still be involved with Pakistan cricket as he is?His business interests and the fact that he does not go out of his way to support Rashid Latif (who I feel was genuine), may raise questions as to Intikhab’s character and sincerity though. The thing that makes Latif’s statements reliable is that fact that he knew he would lose a lot for whistle blowing but he still came out and told the truth.Any particular reason to axe Misbah? I think they made a big mistake dropping him as I’m sure he could have made a good captain in one of those sides.

I think that’s one thing our country is struggling with at the moment; true leaders. Not just in its cricket but politics and general life. I would be happy to go with Afridi but someone needs to rein in his cockiness as his feet seem to be leaving the ground as his luscious locks flutter in the clouds. In general terms, because our President is patron of the board, everything kind of stems from him, and because he is an imbecile, it follows. I would get Imran Khan in as President of the country, Wasim Akram, Aamer Sohail and Rashid Latif involved in the coaching and administration along with a sprinkling of foreigners. I can but dream.I’m sure Wasim would have a few ideas too.

StaniThe players get their match fees, sponsorsip money in any case the win bonuses are never that high.It was the responsibility of Intikhab to disclose match fixing problems to PCB boses as a manager and if repeatedly same culprits were coming on the forefront then he should have recommended some of them to get axed from the team. Some of the evidence was so compelling, like Salim Satta asking players to underperform and the same player taking the matter to the manager and Intikhab still did nothing. Why no action was taken against Salim Satta it’s beyond my comprehension I can’t give this guy a clean chit. Why Misbah?Only because he was also under performing like Malik, performing only enough to keep himself in the team, if he was out of form as his performance under YK reflects how in the world he was able to score 284 n.o in a domestic match only couple of days after getting dropped. We can’t have status quo as far as the core group in the team is concerned it is going to produce same results, Same players will get you same results.

Wasim Says:
MTJAGWe did tried the SA model when Malik was given the leadership, but the lobby of ex players, Ex administrators and the dropped trouble makers managed to derail all the progress only after 18 months.Afridi has been the biggest pain in the ass for all the captains, but dropping him can start a civil war a sepratist movement in Pakistan. Such is his fan support nowadays in Pakistan.
I won’t blame everything on the administrators we the Pakistani fans are also the biggest flip flops first we get a player dropped from the team by constant criticism and after a few months we start missing the same players and that makes the job of the selectors and administrators very difficult.IMO opinion if there is strong groupism and some corrupt elements in the team then all we have to do is to introduce at least two youngsters in the middle order so that the balance is restored to some extent. The political appointment of the PCB chief should also be condoned as Stani mentioned all the problems stem from Mr.Ten % being the patron in chief of PCB.

Yousuf has asked for Misbah to be called back to make up for Younis’ loss. I think it will turn out to be a good call. May be Misbah will take his chance. You’re right about us going the SA way when Malik was picked as captain. I had hoped it would work but the Pakistani mentality was never going to allow it to succeed. Malik was probably fighting a losing battle from the beginning.Until Zardari goes, I really cannot see any real, long term progress.PurnaI’m sure everyone anti-Younis would side with Afridi no matter how he came to be captain. In fact, they’d probably thank him for having a hand in deposing Younis. I myself would be concerned at why he had to get involved and play sinister games with his own team mates. it could be an important biomechanical evidence of Afridi’s teeth and display relationship with his scores and you already have another one as his hair waving relationship with his wickets taken and I believe both are directly proportional but in PCB I don’t think there is someone who even know what biomechanical is?

Wasim Says:
Reverse/StaniI have been thinking why Pakistan is not so inconsistent at T20’s? Why we don’t have those strange collapses, why Afridi all of a sudden becomes so responsible and Akmal so reliable.
1- The players want to keep their worth for IPL/ICL alive if they won’t perform they won’t get big contracts. So they put an extra effort.2- Afridi wants to show how good of a captain he is.3- The format suits Pakistan’s fragile batting line up and aggressive bowling.

Stani Army Says:
Purna
You should stick to cricket then….but it’s strange how things and people are not always how they seem. But back to cricket; I think the way Afridi is going, he’ll soon use his tactics to become coach and chairman too….a real all-rounder.Reverse
You’re right. Also, it is a well known fact that Yousuf began to play better after growing his beard. Any information on that?WasimInteresting…..I didn’t think you’d put no.3 in but I think it’s that more than the other two. I also believe, and you can tell me what you think, that the twenty20 game requires not as much effort for a prolonged period of time so with the almost lazy mentality of our players, they enjoy it. This type of laziness is usually a characteristic of the naturally gifted, which many of our players are.

Wasim Says:
Stani but don’t you find it strange that we never have a batting collapse in T20 something of which we are so accustomed to in tests and Odi’s.

Reverse Swing Says:
Was there any such batting collapse before Younis or even Malik as Captain? I am not sure but I don’t think so there was. Even if there was any it was controversial. 1999 final was tipd as fixed, 2007 Ireland defeat was may be natural etc.It looks like pattern since Inzi left as captain because there were more then one candidate and they are battling since then. Why? Pakistan team captain is a powerful person has words in many things in PCB and it also has long term benefits even after retirement. Plus monetary benefits and after all everyone want to lead his team.

Reverse Swing Says:
About T20 success, Pakistan cricket system is based on this kind of game, during childhood we play 6 to 10 over matches in streets in empty plots near our houses or in grounds too with tape bowl. Majority of schools are not interested in sports they just do it to justify the use of funds they get. Then in clubs we either do net practice or similar kind of short matches from 10 to 50 overs between clubs that too very occasionally, there isn’t enough inter club competitions. Most of our new talent is coming from small cities and towns bcoz in big cities our youth is too busy in getting marks for merit and career in pathetic education system studying day and night or are busy playing video games, chatting or internet surfing as it also suits parents “At least they are in front of them in.”There are very less clubs in small cities where youth is willing to play and had time for it and if there are they had very very less opportunities to compete at a good level. So they keep playing small odd matches here and there and either went for a proper career or some of them get picked by someone some where and injected into first class pool or they shift themselves to big cities to find opportunities if they are too passionate. Our first class level is again not good, not enough coaching not enough benefits to keep them focus on there game. And also when they reach a first class team they already had developed a mentality and technique which is rarely changed afterward. We have some academies around which are far from enough and those too are in big cities and have their own agenda etc. This leads to cricketers which suits T20 cricket format and I believe if they allow a Pakistani team in IPL and Champion League they will perform very well.

We need to develop cricketers from school level without destroying their natural talent by excessive coaching, we just need to polish their mentality and temperament.

Think of Aussies board taking over PCB and you will get hell of cricketers.

Thats what I think the root reason is you may not agree may be ??

Wasim Says:
ReverseThe problems relating to the establishment and the lack of coaching and infrastructure at grass root level should be a factor for all the formats. It’s true we all grew up playing the shorter version of the cricket hence we are more accustomed to it.But I think it’s more difficult to bat in a T20 than in an ODI, you don’t get enough time to get settled and build the innings. How come players like Afridi and Akmal perform so consistently in T20 and fail so often in ODI’s? There is a visible difference in attitude. Now I am not saying that they fail in every ODI, they do score once in a while but there is a marked difference between their performance in T20 and in Odi’s.These guys very often do not even cross double digit score in Odi’s.But their consistency in T20 is much higher.

I do understand that in T20’s one batsman can carry the whole innings which is very hard to do in ODi’s.

I think the constant musical chair game with the openers and the power struggle between the middle order batsmen is the main problem of our Odi team. The T20 team is relatively more consistent in it’s composition.

Another factor is that our middle order including Younis, Yousaf, Misbah and Malik is no longer as good and reliable as it used to be without which we cannot win ODi’s more consitently. Now I understand Younis is going through a lean patch and Yousaf has become too old fitness wise, but the other two I don’t trust them anymore.

I think more consistency can be achieved if the out of form and under performing players are made to sit out and young players are given a chance.

Reverse Swing Says:
Wasim,
Right, I was looking into root problem but for this current team specially these some players You mentioned above there are some factors contributing to this odd performance as discussed above and before there might be more then one reason behind this or all of those mentioned. But they need to realize ODI is not going to fade away if not shine more brighter even Tests are going to be more meaningful pretty soon (Test Championship etc), so they as well as Pakistan team had to improve a lot in those prime formats of the game to stay in top and alive. I don’t think you will be picked on the basis of only T20 performance you have to do better in others too.

Wasim Says:
Stani
I also think #3 is the most important as no team can dominate a certain format unless it is good enough to do that. But the marked difference between the overall attitude and the performance of few players makes me think that #1 is also one of the major reasons.

Wasim Says:
Reverse
The more you have of a thing the less you want it, Test matches or Odis are not going to fade away as you said.We have to fix our middle order before the 2011 WCup.

Stani Army Says:
WasimIt is a bit strange but maybe, as Reverse suggested, this is what we’re good at, twenty20. To be honest, I remember a couple of shambolic performances in twenty20 but they were under Inzi. Also, in twenty20, the pressure is off and batsmen go in with a more attacking mindset. In the other formats, they go in with a less positive mindset in wanting to guard their wicket. I think this can go some way in explaining the difference.

I agree our twenty20 team is more consistent in terms of the 11 being picked. But why it is not the same for 50 ODIs, I do not know. In all honesty, we should probably only need to make two changes from our twenty20 side to our ODI side.

Reverse
I agree, the captaincy comes with lots of benefits; may be that’s why so many of our players go after it. I have been arguing the point about a Australian board/back-room staff, with our talent, for quite some time now and am glad quite a few share the view.

As for point no.1, I’d be surprised if our players were doing as so. The reason being that we’ve been banned from IPL for most of the time and even when our players did initially participate, it was not many and their contracts were not huge, comparatively speaking. That’s why I think it’s mostly point no.3 and the various aspects related to it such as our mentality and natural talent.

Wasim Says:
StaniThe bans were not indefinite the players knew they will come back. Malik, Afridi, Asif, Akhtar and Yousaf all got good deals better than the Aussie players with the exception of Symonds.Misbah, Umar Gul and Sohail Tanvir were the only players who couldn’t get a decent amount.
But this year you wait and watch Afridi, Umar Gul, Kamran Akmal and Aamir all of them will get huge contracts. And it may will continue but it was healthy and had some interesting points in it. Will summarize it in a post later. Keep commenting.

A couple of days ago I was reading cracked.com, and I came across an article about rediculous ways to get rich, well, not rich, to have a good job, i guess. Why was I reading cracked.com anyways? It’s tacky. Whatever, that’s not the point. The fact is, wait, the fact comes later. Follow this link. You didn’t follow the link, did you? Why don’t you click my links? OK well the point I’m trying to make is that it is possible to be successful at begging. There have been cases of people making legit 300 dollars a day begging for money. 300 fucking dollars a day. Begging. That is more then my paycheck of 2 weeks. If i could make 300 dollars a day, I would be in Europe right now. This isn’t to say I want to be a beggar. Fuck that! Dirtiness and awkwardness? I don’t think so, also shame, scariness etc.

This is all to say that I now know that even if I don’t make it, even if I fuck my life up to the highest possible degree, I can still make it work. This knowledge has made me feel so safe, where as before I was afraid of being a poor filmmaker, now I can totally say I’ll be fine, like really fine. I’m educated, I’m not an addict (except for cigarettes – well I do drink only when appropriate and in moderation) and I like to think I’m like, not retarded. I’ll be fine.

I know this info is going to anger a lot of you, the fact that people who don’t work make more then you, but to me it just gives me so much more confidence. I am terrified of failing in cinema, it’s a scary, humungous profession, but now I can say that no matter if my backup or other backup or other other backup does fail, I will still be alright in the end.

You know what? I will be alright. I’ll be more then alright.

That’s probably a rash statement because I don’t know a lot of my girl friends enough to really know what they think about their body. All I know is that whenever I happen to mention weight or fatness in any context, a girl chirps up with ‘I’m fat’ or they clutch at their stomach. There was one instance when I was talking about someone fat that we saw on the internet and I said ‘they’re fat’ clearly talking about the person on the screen, and she said ‘you think I’m fat?’ and got very offended. To me, this is heartbreaking.

The girls I meet are often so so gorgeous sincerely, truly, beautiful, with bodies and legs to die for, and yet they want to look like this.

Skeleton

I’ll admit that this model is giving some good face, but look at that lovely complexion (airbrush) and her rosy cheeks (mountains of blush). The fact of the matter is, there is nothing real or natural about the looks of this girl. She has transcended food, transcended the skeletal face which comes with no food (with makeup) and has gone to a place just past humanity. She might as well be a martian, looking at the world of happy, eating people with working relationships and babies, saying fuck humanity, I want to be the walking dead. Have you ever wondered what girls like that look like when they’re old? They don’t grow old, they marry rich and boring, and die young and lonely.

When a girl hears the word ‘weight’ they shouldn’t clutch at their tummys for the couple pounds that they have which the above girl doesnt, but instead they should think of that little pouch as more of a homage to a life well spent. Feel sorry for that girl. Daddy issues!
