It’s true White as Milk, I’ve been around.

I got tired of your fonts and your narrow view of my posts. Your white background bored me. I wanted something different. There was short dalliance with The Journalist v1.9. I hate to admit it, but I even spent a night with DePo Masthead and Black-LetterHead (not at the same time, mind you).

What was I thinking?

Last night I came to my senses, White as Milk. I love how your posts are left justified, while your menu leans to the right. I realize now how much I long for the cute way you stack my tags. The way you squeeze each and every one of my uploads between impossibly thin margins.

O, I’ve been a fool, White as Milk!

Please, forgive me. I swear I’ll never leave you again.

well umm……… yeah this kinda new to me so i will try my best to satisfy you, and with that i shall start. So as you can see my title is called white as milk, which is the name of my background. it is kinda boring and dull but i picked it cuz the title made me think of these questions;

• what if you add food coloring to the milk? or perhaps it is chocolate milk   
• what if the cow that produced the milk was sick and the milk was clear like water and water doesn’t have a color so there fore it wouldn’t be that white.                                                 
• why is there so many different kinds of milk? such as 2%, fat free, vitamin D, skim, soy, etc…     
• who came up with the milk jug? i would like to thank them for putting the convenient little handle on the side making it  easy to pour  and carry the milk.                                                             
• who the heck would want to be a milk man? i know that we don’t have them now but who wants to drive a truck every freakin’ day. Drop off milk to boring people who don’t give a damn about you but are worried that there milk gets to their house so they can add it to their coffee.

that’s about it for now. i doubt that i will ever blog every day but I’ll try

Wenn ich schon nicht blogge, kann ich hier wenigstens mal aufräumen, hab ich mir gedacht. Und wenn ich bisher auch mit der Begründung “Wenn meine User meinen Content schon gratis kriegen, sollen sie ihn sich wenigstens hart erarbeiten” das überfrachtete Vierspaltenlayout gehegt und gepflegt habe, war es Zeit für eine radikale Schlankheitskur. Das neue Theme heißt “White as Milk” und ist dasjenige, das mich am meisten anspricht. Das heißt, dasjenige von denen, die bei einem kostenlos bei WordPress gehosteten Blog zugänglich sind.

Im Zuge der Umstellung habe ich eine Menge Widgets rausgeworfen. Wer meine Updates bei Twitter lesen will, kann das dort tun, und wer sich für Kaffee interessiert – das sonntagmorgen-Blog hat auch einen RSS-Feed. Also hab ich die Spielereien entfernt. Mal gucken, was Google dazu sagt. Ach ja, wer auf die voranstehenden Links geklickt hat, dem mag es schon aufgefallen sein: Die Theme-Umstellung nehme ich zum Anlass, keine Links mehr in einem neuen Fenster öffnen zu lassen – meine Besucher können darüber selbst entscheiden und werden im Zweifelsfall schon wieder hierher zurückfinden.

Noch unschlüssig bin ich mir, was Snapshots angeht. Für die, die es nicht wissen: Das sind die kleinen Vorschau-Fensterchen, die bisher aufgingen, wenn man mit der Maus über einen Link gefahren ist. Bei Links, die einen RSS-Feed enthalten oder bei Wikipedia-Artikeln fand ich sie bisweilen ganz nützlich, aber oft nerven sie. Erst mal bleiben sie deaktiviert, bis sich jemand beschwert.

So, und nun? Die nächsten Tage mal wieder was mit Substanz bloggen. Über die Aufwertung des Originals durch die Entwertung der Kopie, oder über die Qualität des Online-Videojournalismus. Über ein Barcamp zum Thema Arbeit, Leben und Verdienst… aber vielleicht läuft mir ja noch was Banales über den Weg.

I changed the site theme this morning; White as Milk was no longer working for me. I am interested in how much flexibility that WordPress gives a simple (non-paying) blogger on their CSS. I am suspecting that the joe user, such as myself, cannot change anything beyond the default in their CSS files.

So now I am using Silver is the New Black as my theme and I am liking it, but the font is a bit small for my liking. Perhaps I should fork over the cash and get what I want…
