I’ve been asked about WHM gear again recently and had a couple of pleas to update on my WHM’s gear. So here goes. Sorry for all you WHM peeps who think WHM is /doze!

hMP

WHM hMP Set

I’ve made some progress with my hMP set. I have genie gages again thanks to Reccaa who gave them to me when he quit.  We have pops for ZNMs which drop Oracles Gloves but every time they come up open lot, I fail at lotting so waiting for them to drop on one of my pops.  Haven’t gone for the hMP shield and rod; although I probably will eventually.

So hMP is pluto’s (+10), ariesian grip (+1), mirror tiara (+3) , yigit or af+1 body (+5), yigit pants (+2), cleric’s belt (+3),genie gages (+1) the hMP cape I can never remember (+1), goliard clogs (+3), relaxing earring (+2) and magnetic earring (+1), grandiose chain (+2) which is +34 per tic. I eat wizard cookies for an addition +7 per tic which gets me an additional +41 per tic on top of your normal hMP.

Upgrades to this, would be oracle’s gloves for an additional +1hMP; a +6 rather than 5 hMP body (so Oracles or Mahatma); a gnole torque for an additional 1hMP and star rings for another 1 hMP each.  I should go back to MMM, I had gotten some of the bits and pieces needed to pop the NM, don’t need many more marbles to buy the last.

So if your first tic of resting as a 75 WHM with Clear Mind IV gives you 24 MP back, then with my current gear I’m getting 65 MP back on my first tic. For every additional tic, you get an additional +2 so 65, 67, 69 etc.

Currently the max looks like it’s +46? Correct me if I’m  wrong.

Cure V

Two major changes to my Cure V set since last time.  I finally saw a Cleric’s Belt drop for the first time and it is mine all mine! Was worth all that dynamis after all! My Selenian has -ENM as well as MND and Cure potency. A choice I’m appreciating all the more with the arrival of my new belt.

I was also fortunate to complete a pair of Marduk Crackows!  My Cure V (without Korin Obi) now cures for 906. However, I’m in two minds about not wearing Cure Clogs for Cure V. Obviously ePeen cures demand +10MND but I do miss the casting speed, even with Light Arts and Cure Cast merits. I don’t know why I miss my clogs now especially as I was wearing Blessed +1 before. I’ve just  never felt comfortable without them. In non stressful situations, Marduk win hands down but for some fights I might stick to clogs.

I’ve decided I’d rather go for Blessed +1 hands than AF+1. I have a full set of mats to upgrade the hands and no doubt I will some day but it’s another invent slot for one spell and I’m a haste junky.  Already lost some haste from replacing my feet for this spell. I don’t use Spellcast.

Enfeebling

WHM Enfeebling Set

The inclusion of Marduk Feet and Cleric’s belt here has boosted my MND through the roof. I pulled out my nashira pants for this setup, although with this much MND from elsewhere I could probably afford to reintroduce them. The MAcc from Goliard Clogs is surpassed with +5 enf skill on the shiny new shoes. The set now includes an enfeebling earring (thanks Reccaa!) which I was steeling myself up to invest in at some point but had avoided for a while.

I have the -1 to upgrade the hands, but until the legs drop in Tav, I’m not losing my ability to store my relic!

Haste

WHM Haste Set

I think my Haste gear pretty much remains unchanged.  Until I invest in or craft some HQ Blessed hands/legs it’s not going to improve. Not likely to see a Velocious  or speed belt and tbh, if I saw a speed belt it would be sold for pimping out my mages.  I use this set for Haste, Erase, Regen and ~na’s.

Barspells

I’m pretty proud of my Barspell set. I know to max them out I need full Enhancing merits and I simply can’t afford those but right now my barspell sits at 127.  As we’re headed to Tav I’m hoping for the -1 legs to upgrade and that will pretty much cap me out for now. I’ll hit a max of 129 out of 131. I have the -1 to upgrade the relic feet but they don’t give you additional skill. I’ll so it at some point.

This set is used for Devotion and Martyr. It’s not always possible to carry all this crap with me but the best set I can muster is…

This gives me over 1200HP which is a useful 300 MP back to someone. Usually though I can’t carry it all, so I’d say I usually around 292, 297 ish.

Regen

Nothing very exciting to say about Regen.  Use of Cleric’s body and some haste gear basically.

Repose

Quick look at my Repose Set… I realised I took this screenie without my Goliard Cuffs in my invent. Usually I don’t wear Cleric’s Mitts for Repose as it’s based on Divine Skill. I could do some work on this set and invest in a Divine Torque and Earring but my invent won’t take it and so far, I’ve never needed it. Would rather use pieces of gear I have for other jobs and my AF+1

This should probably be more defensive gear if I’m honest. Otherwise this is just a solid all round set with the extra MP from a Dryad’s Staff and Staff Strap.

Other Cures

As for Curagas, Cure III and Cure IV they’re pretty much my standing set with my Aristocrat’s Coat and Cure Clogs replacing the Cleric’s Briault and Marduk Crackows… I use a Dryad’s staff and Staff strap for this set.

My only real gear priorities now are things like Blessed +1, improving that hMP set and dream items like gaiters. I’m still in two minds. A White Tathlum isn’t really worth 3m to me but I guess eventually I’ll do it if gil permits. More likely I’ll throw that gil into BLM.

I’m still undecided about the ASA pants.  I have the final fight to do, Cure potency and Movement speed seem such a hybrid mess.

Again… If noone wants it… why not ask for it…

On a different side I really really wanted LM to get his RDM jacket… but it didnt drop… hopefully next time, LM…

ASA

I’ve been pretty busy in the real world so, as a result I’ve had to regain a lost Campaign medal and fall behind on missions. That’s not the end of the world – I’m sitting on the last fight for ASA, along with a couple of others. Perhaps we can get it done this week.

Of course then I have to get into the whole pants dilemma. The career WHM in me says…MP+25, ENM-4 and Cure potency +5%. But she also wants movement speed. So the compromise for the new ugly pants is movement speed +8%, cure potency +5%. But that’s really kinda bland and I lose the –ENM, even if the haste isn’t huge… Or I could say screw WHM (SCH, RDM…) and go for movement speed and phys damage taken down. It never hurts to be MP efficient and at this point Cure potency is pretty much the only way I can improve my cures. My Cure V is already at 906, and I’m not even an elvaan. If I were and if I hadn’t thrown so many merits into INT, I suppose it might hit 910? But at what point does it become ridiculous to throw more Cure potency in there?

For lesser cures, pretty much never I’d guess but for Cure V, outside of Besieged and the occasional uber-crisis, things rarely get that bad. I don’t think I can walk away from the cure potency but with WHM, RDM, SCH, BRD, SMN, BLM and SMN to hand along with my COR it becomes equally hard to turn down movement speed. Not like I have 12-16m to hand for gaiters and they only cover certain jobs. Ugly pants with Cure potency +5% and movement speed +8% just seem kinda wrong. /shrug.

/SCH again

I got a bit frustrated last night hearing someone I consider a decent WHM moaning about needing to cast more and faster. I mean we all want to be casting several things at once. Altana knows when you’re casting haste or regen III and so drops something nasty on your tanks or dds… but I suggested again, that /SCH helps a lot with that and sparked a small row.

The issue of contention is /SCH. This is not the first time I’ve come up against this kind of old school stubbornness against levelling what is currently without a doubt the best sub for WHM. The worst culprits are always long term WHMs. It doesn’t mean that all other subs are shit or there is no use for them, situationally you can squeeze out a few instances where there’s a reason for using something else. It certainly doesn’t mean the player is shit either it just means that something new has come along which has changed the job – nothing to take personally…

What especially irritates me is that there’s absolutely no consideration of it. I’m not faced with decent arguments (IMO there aren’t any but I’ll listen) or discussion or scheduling conflicts or in fact anything. Just ‘No’.

If you consider WHM to be one of your strongest jobs then you should seriously have SCH as a subjob. If you sub SCH and use the Arts, you will cast 10% faster, lower your recast by 10% and lower the cost of your spells FROM THE MENU by 10%. Let alone Conserve MP, Sublimation, access to other spells, raising of skills and penury/celerity.

So fine, tell me you can’t be bothered to level SCH subjob or you’re too busy right now. But don’t tell me no because you seriously think 20MP per min refresh is worth it. And if any WHM seriously thinks the very small amount of MP extra you get from /SMN makes it worth it – no matter which race you are, then they need their head examined. The figures prove them wrong over and over.

Why on earth doesn’t anyone want to make their considerable experience look even better instead of falling behind? Esuna is a prime example of a spell that suits /SCH well. It’s recast is long but it’s so damn useful. Not only can I cast it faster, I can recast it faster. Which means in Einherjar my freaking melee spend less time enfeebled.

I wasn’t sure about /SCH when it first came out but 2-3 sessions competing against another WHM in dynamis and the benefits to my barspells alone compelled me to level it. Then they made it even better… and I was glad I did. I don’t care if you’ve been a WHM since 1803… you would be an even better WHM,  /SCH. And having /SCH would show off that experience even more.

• Setup Remote Access Key: deve ser utilizada apenas por programadores experientes, caso desejem integrar um outro programa em PHP ou Perl com o Web Host Manager. Esta ferramenta gera uma chave remota de acesso.
• Service Status: visualizar o Status dos Serviços em seu servidor.
• Server Information: visualizar as configurações do seu servidor.
• List Accounts: listar todas as contas que estão em seu servidor virtual, exibindo uma série de informações úteis de cada uma.
• Create a New Account: cria uma nova conta em seu servidor virtual. Ao clicá-la, surgirá na moldura maior um formulário com os seguintes campos a serem preenchidos:

A) Domain (domínio): neste campo você digita o nome do domínio principal da conta, como por exemplo “meucliente.com.br”, SEM o “www.” inicial.

B) UserName (nome de usuário/login da conta): neste campo você vai encontrar uma sugestão do próprio sistema, mas você pode substituir por outra coisa, com no máximo 8 (oito) caracteres de extensão.

C) Password (senha): digite uma senha para a nova conta. Recomendamos de 6 a 8 caracteres aleatórios, que podem ser letras minúsculas, maiúsculas e algarismos numéricos. Não se esqueça de anotar a senha, pois será a última vez que vai vê-la (não é possível recuperá-la). Se a senha for perdida, a opção é trocá-la usando outra função do Web Host Manager (mais detalhes abaixo).

D) Package (Pacote): escolha neste campo o plano de hospedagem da conta de seu cliente.

Após preencher os campos acima, basta clicar em “Create” para visualizar uma tela com o processo de criação de contas. Não se esqueça de anotar a senha, pois os demais dados você pode conseguir em “List Accounts”.

• Skeleton Directory: cria um diretório cpanel3-skel no diretório raiz de sua conta principal de acesso ao servidor. Todos os arquivos inseridos nesse diretório (em suas áreas específicas) serão copiados para a conta de seu cliente no momento que você a ativar. Muito útil para que as novas contas ao serem ativadas contenham uma página de apresentação, por exemplo.
• Terminate an Account: apaga uma conta. Selecione “Terminate an Account” para fazer surgir uma tela com os nomes de domínio e os logins de cada conta. Escolha um domínio ou conta e clique em “Terminate”. Atenção: este é um processo sem volta! Não é possível recuperar contas apagadas no sistema.
• Upgrade/Downgrade an Account: altera o plano de hospedagem de uma conta. Clique em “Upgrade/Downgrade an Account”, escolha o domínio/conta e clique em “Modify”. Escolha o novo plano de hospedagem da lista e clique em “Change”.
• View Bandwidth Usage: Use esta opção para visualizar quanto (aproximadamente) suas contas estão transferindo no mês corrente. Ideal para verificar se um cliente está próximo de seu limite mensal e alertá-lo antes que a conta seja bloqueada automaticamente por excesso de transferência. Não se esqueça: Todas as contas que excederem seu limite de transferência mensal serão automaticamente bloqueadas pelo servidor. Portanto, você e seus clientes devem monitorar a utilização de banda, alterando o plano de hospedagem da conta quando necessário.
• Suspend/Unsuspend an Account: permite suspender a conta de um cliente quando necessário, por exemplo, por falta de pagamento. Todos os arquivos do cliente são preservados, mas ele perde todas as formas de acesso ao servidor e sua página não será mais exibida. Esta função lhe permitirá também reativar a conta anteriormente suspendida quando o problema que levou à suspensão for resolvido. Clique em “Suspend/Unsuspend an Account”. Escolha um domínio/conta da lista e clique em “Suspend” para bloquear e “Unsuspend” para liberar o acesso ao domínio.
• List Suspended Accounts: lista todas as contas suspensas.
• Modify Suspended Account Page: permite personalizar uma página HTML que será exibida no lugar do site de seu cliente quando a conta do mesmo for suspensa.
• Password Modification: altera a senha da conta de um cliente quando o mesmo esquecer sua senha de acesso. Clique em “Password Modification”, escreva a nova senha no campo “New Password”, escolha o domínio da lista e clique em “Change Password”.
• List Subdomains: Esta opção lista todos os sub-domínios em seu servidor virtual.
• Change WHM Theme: altera o tema do Web Host Manager. Aconselhamos que você utilize apenas s tema X para o Web Host Manager, pois possui melhor integração com idiomas adicionais (no caso, Português, que será acrescido) e é de fácil utilização.
• Add Packages: O primeiro passo é criar os seus pacotes (ou planos) de hospedagem. Esses são os planos que você comercializará em seu site web. Para criar seus pacotes acesse na moldura da esquerda, “Add Packages”. Uma tela aparecerá no frame direito com vários campos para serem preenchidos: Nome do Plano, Espaço em MB, Número de Contas de FTP, Número de Contas de E-mail, Número de Mailing Lists, Número de Bancos de Dados MySQL, Número de Sub-domínios, Habilitar ou não a execução de Scripts CGI, Habilitar ou não as extensões FrontPage (deixe sempre desabilitada esta função, pois as extensões FrontPage devem ser instaladas apenas para os clientes que solicitarem), Quota de Transferência de dados e Tema do cPanel (escolha X ou X2). Após definir os recursos, basta clicar em “Create” e o pacote será criado. Você não conseguirá ativar contas no servidor se não tiver pelo menos 1 pacote de hospedagem habilitado.
• Delete Packages: permite apagar planos de hospedagem.
• Edit Packages: modifica os seus planos de hospedagem.
• Park or Point a Domain: cria os DNS´s para apontamento de um novo domínio para uma das contas de seus clientes.
• List Parked Domains: lista os apontamentos existentes nas contas de seus clientes, e lhe dá a opção de cancelar o apontamento.
• Edit an MX Entry: permite que você configure um servidor de e-mail externo para as contas de seus clientes.
• Install FrontPage Extensions: instala as extensões FrontPage em alguma conta (se isso for solicitado pelo cliente). Clique em “Install FrontPage Extensions”, escolha o domínio/conta e clique em “Install”. Por favor avise seu cliente para restringir o uso de programas clientes de FTP e usar somente a caracteristica de “Publish” do FrontPage para transferir arquivos para a conta.
• Uninstall FrontPage Extensions: remove as extensões FrontPage. Use “Uninstall FrontPage Extensions”, repentindo o mesmo procedimento acima. Caso a conta esteja com problemas na configuração do FrontPage (geralmente ocorre devido ao uso de programa de FTP para configurar arquivos, ou a edição de arquivos .htacesss), remova e depois adicione as extensões na conta e peça para o seu cliente realizar uma nova tentativa.
• Install FrontPage Mail Extensions: permite instalar as extensões de e-mail do FrontPage em todas as contas de seus clientes que utilizam FrontPage.
• Mail Troubleshooter: permite verificar se uma determinada conta de email está ou não com problemas. Caso encontre algum problema, entre em contato com o nosso suporte, para que seja feita uma verificação na conta de e-mail específica.
• Modify cPanel/WHM News: permite administrar um sistema de notícias no painel de controle de todos os seus clientes. As notícias devem ser escritas em HTML.

I was somewhat irritated by comments on Allakazham today about Echo Drops. Unlike many peeps I don’t ‘lolalla’. Yes, there is an awful lot of rubbish on it (like any forum) but I used it a lot when getting started and it’s a reasonable place to ask basic questions about all sorts of things.

I’ve played WHM for a long time, along with SMN, BRD and BLM. SCH, RDM and COR are more recent. I’m an experienced mage but I’m always learning.

Stop a second and think about why you’re there at an event or in an xp or merit party. You’re a WHM – people want you to cure them.

OK, so you need to cure them -  why? To stop them dying. So the first thing that’s critically important is to be able to cast.

Something  goes wrong. People need raises. So… you need to be in a position to raise.

What am I getting at?

What stops you casting?  Petrification, Terror, Stun, Sleep and Silence… and death(if I’ve missed something, forgive me, these are examples).

• Terror:   usually avoided by positioning or more to the point, not drawing hate
• Petrification: usually avoided by positioning, not drawing hate or may be resisted with barspells (barstonra + barpetra ftw)
• Sleep: can be avoided by positioning but not always. However if you know you are fighting mobs which can sleep(ga) then use sublimation or better still (because Sub fills up) poison potions. Even if you use stoneskin, you can still take poison and drop the stoneskin when sleepga hits so the poison does damage and wakes you up. Sublimation is good but if it happens to fill up just before you get slept or the timer isn’t up, you’re screwed.
• Silence: can be avoided by positioning but again not always. However Square Enix thought about this situation and provided you with easily accessible, easily craftable CHEAP meds which remove silence.

So you’re at an event or in a party in the Mire for example and you’re silenced. Everyone in your party who can cast ninjitsu, songs or spells should carry echo drops but the one person who above all others should be carrying echo drops – is the WHM. Because if you can’t cast, you can’t do your job. Everyone else will look to you, Silena is a WHM (and SCH) spell.

And if you know full well you’re going to be fighting bones/ghosts/beastmen casters, saplings, apkallu, mandies etc then consider poison potions. Because they all sleep. And you can’t cast anything when asleep. If you can’t cast anything, then you’re as much use as a chocolate teapot.

So, what else are you there for? Perhaps as insurance.  Something goes wrong – everyone dies. That’s ok though, Square Enix thought of this too – they provided the WHM (and SCH) spell Reraise.  Even in larger events where people routinely bring reraise pins etc there will always be situations where people die, get up and die again.  So a WHM has to do two things…

Cos it doesn’t matter if the NIN spent out on a reraise pin, he can’t raise you. And trust me when everyone is down, the person everyone relies on to have reraise is the WHM. Same goes if you didn’t bring a WHM, instead a RDM/WHM or SCH or something.

OK this is a bit extreme but for example I’ve seen runs in Limbus end abruptly because the WHM and RDM died and didn’t have reraise up. Leaving the melee with reraise pins (which they PAY for) trying to battle on with no support.

I know things happen. I know sometimes there’s nothing you can do. But if you do everything in your power to keep reraise up and carry echo drops you will always be able to cast.

Peeps keep asking me about my WHM gear – and whilst I have most of it up here, I haven’t put up all my sets. I also would welcome input from others on how to switch things around to get more out of the gear I own.

Numinous Shield +1 (again) or preferably a Muse Tariquah. I should really go out zeni hunting as I have the seal for Verdelet again I think.

I could use ajari for an extra MND but probably won’t as I use Morganas on most of my jobs. Blessed +1 hands and legs.

Thoughts:  I could invest in an Ixion Cape and should I get one for my BLM, I will might use it in this set because it has some –ENM in. At -36 in this set I don’t really want to drop much lower.

The cape is a Merciful. I have 2 Enhancing merits which keeps my Bars at 127 with /SCH. Upgrades to this would be Cleric’s Pantaloons +1 and more merits.  I can’t afford the merits being 8/8 Elemental for BLM and 6/6 Enfeebling. If Enhancing magic is a possible Augment on the new WHM fey weapon, then possibly skill there.

I might be able to back off on some of the skill/MAcc gear now to push up the MND. I’ve been considering it as I could pump the MND fairly high. I have a Terra and Auster staff for Slow and Silence respectively. I think I’ll replace Balrahn’s with an Omega ring once I get the last 5k ampoules I need for it. Obviously if I get the Marduk Feet finished, I’ll put them in here.

I’m going to be honest, I’ve only just set this lot up.  I keep intending to use it more than I actually do for /SCH + Dark Arts and Aspir. I don’t tend to WHM for Dyna anymore as I’m too busy so this doesn’t get used as often as it should. I have an Anrin Obi I can use where relevant.
