Today I am fortunate to have the mother I do and to be the mother I am. Motherhood is like nothing y

Today I am fortunate to have the mother I do and to be the mother I am. Motherhood is like nothing you could ever plan, expect or hope for. It’s pure joy; the best and cheapest high; and once yours, yours forever. Being a mother has opened an entirely new channel of personal growth and development – a brand spanking new piece of me that somehow makes all the sketchy, shoddy, less attractive bits seem better (think Febreze in the room with the kitty litter box). No one can truly explain or prepare you for how overwhelming becoming a mother is – all the good, the bad and the ugly (re: why I now by wine by the case). My own mother came close though, and thinking back on the story of her journey, I’m glad I listened – I can only hope that my efforts and success will equal hers.

My husband has taken a vacation day and I’m so excited I could have kittens. A Friday vacation

My husband has taken a vacation day and I’m so excited I could have kittens. A Friday vacation day is a brilliant sort of thing – it’s like a snow day without having to shovel and a sick day without the projectile vomiting. It’s a bonus long weekend AND you get paid! Anything is possible (excepting unicorn parades which of course never happen on a Friday).

“They want a parade today.”
“Not possible – it’s Friday.”
