Basically, we are in a state of heavy research at this stage of the project. We have been looking into using TouchLib from Nuigroup for a multitouch screen that is back projected and it will be controlled with physical contact of a hand on a screen. This seems to be both very expensive and, seeing as we don’t need multitouch, overkill.

We also considered a setup like the one below but again, we aren’t 100% certain on that either. Then, there was the consideration of not using TouchLib and using other libraries such OpenCV and OpenFrameworks.

We also saw a video by Johnny Lee on how to use a Wiimote as a way of making a touchscreen which looks like it could be easy to set up and really, really effective.

So we have plenty of ideas and we need to do more research and see what the best technology for us is.

A Eneloop, braço da Sanyo para assuntos de pilhas e baterias, lançou hoje o seu novo carregador de Wiimote, o primeiro aprovado oficialmente pela Nintendo. Ele tem espaço para dois controles e suporta também o Wiimote com o Motion Plus plugado, o que torna as coisas muito mais simples.

Ele vem para substituir o modelo anterior, que tinha espaço para apenas um Wiimote e nada de Motion Plus. Uma das suas vantagens, além do visual bem Wii-like, é que ele funciona conectado a uma das portas USB do Wii; ou seja, nada de usar pilhas como muitos hoje em dia fazem – o que, ao meu ver, é uma enorme contradição.

Por enquanto ele será lançado apenas no Japão, ao preço de ¥7400, algo em torno de R$150, sem impostos. Mas logo ele deverá chegar por aqui, seja por meios oficiais ou não.

When you shoot a zombie like character in the head, or kick him in the head, it explodes in what sounds like a ripe melon exploding. Nintendo por fin anunció la venta de un Wiimote y el nunchuck negro,  lo cual confirma que el Wii negro es más realidad que un mito.

Al principio se ve raro el color pero una vez que te acostumbras en verdad comienzas a imaginar al Wii como una consola ya no para solo dar brincos o regalársela a tu sobrino de 5 años, sino como una consola seria y eso es solo por el color, sin quitar de lugar los juegos que están llegando para los hardcore gamers, tales como Mad World, Muramasa, Resident Evil o The Conduit por mencionar algunos.

El Wiimote y el nunchuck se ven con más actitud y su costo es de $20.00 dólares, se espera que lleguen a México a finales de este año.

Controle de Nintendo… Esse foi um dos nomes sugeridos para o blog, e também um dos elementos que levou a sua criação.

“Agente 86 – Bruce e Lloyd – fora de controle” é um filme bastante divertido. Assisti ele dublado em português, e uma parte que eu achei muito boa foi quando o Lloyd vai falar com uns caras que ele pensava serem ladrões, e um deles respondeu algo parecido com “Tá bem, eu devolvo seu controle de Nintendo!”, e passou um Wiimote para o Lloyd.

Espera… “controle de Nintendo”? Isso me soou estranho ao ver o Wiimote após ele dizer isso. Assisti o filme até o fim, coloquei o áudio original em inglês, pois teria certeza de que ele não iria chamar aquilo de controle de Nintendo, e vi na mesma parte algo como “OK, here’s your Wiimote!” (ou algo parecido, só lembro com certeza de ter ouvido ele dizer Wiimote). Não teria problema nenhum ser controle de Nintendo mesmo, mas isso mostrou a necessidade de se trocar aquele nomezinho, simplesmente porque quase ninguém aqui no Brasil sabe o que é um Wiimote.

Você sabe o que é um Wiimote?

É o controle do console de videogame Wii, da Nintendo. A Nintendo apostou tudo nele para que seu novo console fizesse sucesso, e até agora tem dado bons resultados.

No a dublagem brasileira do filme, eles precisaram chamar de “controle de Nintendo”, pois aqui pelo Brasil, as pessoas não estão minimamente interessadas  nos consoles de videogame, e além disso, têm uma certa repulsa pelos mesmos. O máximo que se vê são reportagens na TV falando bem sobre os games, mas se você prestar atenção, tem uma certa falsidade por parte da pessoas que as escrevem, visando agradar o público (que finge gostar).

Porque essa forma de mídia não faz parte da culura brasileira? Eu não sei… O ser humano teme o desconhecido. Na versão dos EUA do filme, por exemplo, aquele objeto foi chamado de Wiimote, e todos devem ter entendido do que se trata. Um outro exemplo é o Japão, onde essa mídia é tão livre de preconceitos que existem games de temas para agradar qualquer público, histórias com os mais variados temas, party games(jogos focados não na história, sim em diversão multijogador).

E você, acha que algum dia o Brasil terá uma visão dessa mídia igual a visão que tem do cinema, da música, e livros?

Did you know that the Home Shopping Network posts their broadcasts on YouTube to sell their crap. Yeah, I had no idea either. Apparently, 24 hour broadcasts were not enough. Aber erstmal nur in Japan. Hm. Bedauerlich gerade für Bewohner von kleinen grauen Ländern mit schlechtem Wetter (wie etwa mitten im alten Europa), die nun mal ohne blaue und rosa Wiimotes weiterleben müssen.

Aber unabhängig davon ist dies ein erster Schritt in eine farbenfrohe Zukunft. Weil man erstens davon ausgehen kann, dass die erfolgreichste Videospielkonsole unserer Tage demnächst in weiteren schlimmen (a.k.a. tollen) Farben auf den Markt kommt, und ausserdem in weiteren Ländern.
