I’ve been busy working on other sites and projects. You can track some of it through My Other Site. Don’t worry though in my absence I have not forgotten my responsibilty to letting you know what is going on in the celebrity world.

I though I would go ahead and start this off by completing a draft I started a couple months back for a review of Land of the Lost. Will Ferrel plays Dr. Rick Marshall, a scientist that discovers a way to open portals to other worlds. Unlike the previous versions of this story Rick is not on an adventure with his family but instead traveling with another younger scientist that clearly has feelings for him. Rick is also traveling with a waky side kick that he met at a tourist stop before starting their journey into the unknown. All and all it’s a pretty funny movie, there was even one scene I had to cover my eyes and pause the movie just to stop laughing.

So if you’re in the mood for some laughs Pick up the latest version of Land of the Lost, pop some pop corn, and have tissues on standby for when you laugh so hard you cry. Oh and in the end the side kick gets the best ending of all.

Wishing there were more seconds in a minute, more minutes in an hour and more hours in a day….Can’t seem to fit all my duties, tasks, responsibilities, wants and aspirations to fit into my free time called the WEEKEND.

With my current career, one would think I have mastered the art of prioritization – yes, I have it down to a T when I’m on my grind, but somehow it escapes me when I am faced with my free time.

Do you recall the movie Old School (one of the greatest movies of all time!)? The scene when Will Ferrel states that he has

“Go to Bed, Bath and Beyond, maybe Home Depot, I don’t know, I don’t know if I have enough time?”

This is the epitome of my life since I’ve been married. I’m loving every minute….

However, my | GOALS | for the new year | 2010 | include:

Screenplay written by… I could not imagine that the Will Ferrell and Adam McKay screenwriting session for Step Brothers amounted to anything more than this:

Int. Living Room. Day

On the floor amid beer bottles, bongs, Metallica posters, and nudie magazines sits two disheveled eternal teenagers.

Will

Dude, we should make a movie.

Adam

Yeah, but we need money.

Will

I got your back. I made $31million last year. Besides, Dick Cheney loved my George Bush show and gave me a lot of cash and this big bag of weed.

Adam

(laughing)

I saw your Penis in that show.

Will

John C. Reilly called me to compliment me on it and showed me his. I don’t know, it’s like we are brothers.

Adam

That’s it man! You two should be step brothers that never had jobs and you two share a room and make bunk beds and at first hate each other and he could play drums and tell you not to touch them but you do and he kills you and buries you…

Will

And like I ain’t dead so I get out of the grave and bury him instead.

Adam

And you two could crash his father’s boat and start a band and your real brother is a dork so John bangs his wife while the whole family watches at dinner. This is so rad.

Will

Yeah, cool. We could start on Monday. Let’s budget it for over 60 Million.

Adam

I’ll direct. Pass the joint.

Is it a bad movie? Not really. Is it a good movie? Not really. This is what the doctor ordered for a mind numbing experience sitting on the couch or laying in bed. With such vulgarity and inane humor, it musters up such abhor in the stingiest and crustiest of snobs while causing the casual viewer munching on potato chips to choke from a fit of laughter during certain scenes.

Saturday Night Alumni are quite a breed. Steve Martin heads the honor roll while others like Horatio Sanz try to successfully go on alone and Tina Fey bolted straight to the TV studio next door. Will Ferrell has tackled Broadway and has starred in numerous comedies that includes my favorite, Elf. This actor has range. A serious Ferrell is seen in Stranger Than Fiction. Let’s just wrinkle our noses and make Bewitched disappear. If this funnyman does not curb his enthusiasm for stupid comedy and raise the quality of his steps, he will never attain Steve Martin status and may be part of the falling star belt.

The plot to Step Brothers is useless to explain. The film is comprised of a series of crude antics and vulgarity. Does it try to be a serious film? No. And that is what makes it worthwhile. It did not attempt to weigh in some dramatic overtones to cover up if the comedy did not fly. That’s usually the hangman’s noose in comedic cinema.

There’s something about Mary.

Senior Assistant Editor, Suzie Moore, recently submitted a piece to the Splice Capades and placed as First runner up! If you are not familiar, Splice Capades is an annual competition in which assistant editors show off their editing chops by “splicing” two different films together to create a :90 trailer! This year’s mash-up featured the films “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” and “Network”.

http://www.youtube.com/user/foundationcontent#p/u/0/m6WVv7ijlZU

Suzie says of the experience, “I just love Steve Carrell so when I watched the movies I knew I wanted to do something funny with him as the main character. It was a lot of fun to put together. As first runner up I won a blu-ray player!” Her trailer is absolutely hilarious, so be sure to check it out at the link above!!

There were 25 entries from assistants in Chicago. We’re proud of Suzie every day – this is just “splicing” on the cake!

Oh my goodness. Whoever made this movie (cough *Director Brad Silberling and Writer Chris Henchy

Oh my goodness. Whoever made this movie (cough *Director Brad Silberling and Writer Chris Henchy & co.* cough) should reevaluate their life choices. I’m not sure how Will Ferrell, the man who in little over a year has gone from top notch (Stepbrothers) to sad and forgotten, ended up in this disaster, but he is and it’s not classy, San Diego. Not one bit.

I did find enjoyable parts to this movie; they’re easy to spot. Just look for Danny McBride, and you’ll find the funny. His inappropriate humor directed at co-star Anna Friel’s character (more on this mistake later) was gut-busting at moments and almost made me forget about the rest of the movie, which made the ‘07 Mets collapse seem bearable in comparison.

Okay, let’s talk Anna Friel. Who? Exactly. In a movie where you are looking at the same three people the entire time, all three need to be household names. Will Ferrell brought the star power. Everyone at least recognizes Danny McBride. Anna Friel wasn’t terrible in this role, but you just spend the whole time asking yourself “Who is this?” and thinking “there had to be someone else available.” She seems fit to be a minor character, but in this movie, there were no minor characters and she just wasn’t what the movie needed in its most desperate hour.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, this movie was not acceptable. I love Will Ferrel movies (I even enjoy Bewitched if I’m not thinking about it too much), but this is a PASS unless you’re a HUGE Matt Lauer fan, because his bit-role is great.

Existem filmes inócuos. Existem filmes desnecessários. Existem filmes ruins. E existe “A Terra Perdida”.

Theseguysblog Challenge – Hit up Connaught place with a 100 rupee note in hand and come home with the following four DVD’s:

Surrogates – B-Weasy acts the shit out of this movie, one of his finest films. The premise revolves around the idea that Bruce buys a bunch of robotic replicas of Bruce … meaning quadruple the Bruces.

Land of the Lost – Most people hate Will Ferrell based on the fact that they think too many people like Will Ferrell. Those people are idiots; his shitty movies are guaranteed for 12 giggles at a minimum.

Life is all about giggles, if I don’t get my fix of at least 50 giggles a day I become a dangerous man.

Year One – This movie is sure to further feed my sick sick addition with Michael Cera.

The Hurt Locker – Arguably the only legitimate movie I was in the market for.

After filtering through hundreds of pirated American DVD’s I could only find two out of the four. My half ass attempts at lowballing these dirtbags, at a fraction of the market price, were failures forcing me to move on. Before I knew it, close to two hours had gone by and my goal was far from achieved.

My patience was running thin but after thinking of how I would feel post-Michael Cera film, I gathered the motivation to dig down deep into my energy reserves. The pickings were slim seeing as we had visited nearly all of stores, but out of nowhere this one fellow caught my attention. We made eye contact and he spewed out broken English offering me games, DVD’s and CD’s.

The merchant motioned for me to follow him to his co-workers store (all these dudes work in cahoots each managing a couple different shops). I followed the merchant to his other store but as soon as the other owner saw my face I could tell something had gone wrong. I was told to leave.

My luck had run out, with my recently shaved head and unchanged white skin, I was easily remembered as the skinheaded, sleaze-bagging low baller. I somehow managed to get blacklisted from the underground pirated movie hub. I mean that’s talent people, to out slime the skeezies shows some serious tenacity and balls, half you jokers out there couldn’t do what I did.

Through association Arvil was blacklisted but that also might have been attributed to the fact that he low bagged this one dude so badly that even me, the king of the low ballin’ scumbags was surprised by his offer.

Twelve DVD’s for 300 rupees, Arvil pulled an offensive, spinless yet ballsy move and I have to respect him for it.

Although no DVD’s were purchased Arvil did buy:

Rolex – 100 rps – originally: 250 rps.

Shantanaram (novel) – 200 rps – originally: 700 rps.

A strawberry milkshake with whipcream toppings – 80 rps.

Right before he chuggled the shake, Arvil said in a high pitched voice while limping his wrists:

“I am such a bad boy, I shouldn’t”

Dr. Rick Marshall (Will Farrel) is flopped scientist who wasted 50 Million of tax payer’s money researching on time warp. No one believe that his research except a student, Holly (Anna Friel) who got kicked out from school for believing his researches. Together they tested out the time machine build by Dr. Rick Marshall and they were warp into the Land of Lost.

Dr. Rick Marshall, Holly and Will (Danny McBride) arrived at a dessert and they rescue a primate named Chakra, the prince of primates who got chased by its tribe. Together they embark on a journey documenting the Land of Lost and searching for the time machine to bring them back to the real world. They were chased by dinosaurs, encountering aliens, bitten by bugs, feeding on a giant crabs and many other events.

At the end, they manage to set the time machine and return but will prefer to stay. Dr. Rick Marshall became famous and his book became a top seller.

I do no recommend this movie. It is quite lame and I wonder why Universal Studios produce it in the first place. It is not enjoyable at all or maybe I never liked Will Farrel’s movie made me become slightly sarcasm. A schooling kid can communicate with primates from Land of Lost made the movie more illogical and even Will Farrel commanding a T-Rex (because he removed something stuck in the T-Rex’s bowel) made the ratings for this movie went down the drain, at least for me.

[So the video got shut down...check it out here ]

Funny, right? I mean, sure – it’s exaggerated to hell and back, but it rang just a little true in its ridiculousness, huh? But in the end, it’s irrelevant, just another slab of opinions that make up the very identity of what it means to be American. We all have such opinions, and the right to exercise them is the sole reason that there is a debate over health care and its future in this country. For if we did not have the ability and right to air our own thoughts, there would be universal health care or there would not be – no debate either way, just what the Washington decided – no opinions means no dissenting opinions.

As I said before, the airing of the opinions is not only at the heart of the health care debate, but of America. And in the end, each individual opinion is irrelevant – it is what it is, with no true power to sway the debate one way or the other.

With that in mind, and even with the knowledge that in the end it’s irrelevant – here is my opinion on the health debate. It’s a simple opinion, based on (potentially false) the belief that I have stripped away many of the ideas that splinter through the opinions of others.

My opinion is that universal health care is not only the right thing for this nation, but the responsible one on behalf of our government.

How did I come to that opinion? Easy enough – I asked myself whether or not, in the beautiful country of America, home of the free and the equal and the dreamers, should the luxury of health be afforded to its citizens.

Oh be sure, health care is not a right. It is a luxury, as are roads, education, and security, things that are never outed as being luxuries, but imagine the outcry should any of those cease to be offered. And there is part of a simple argument for universal health care – the notion that “rights” are not necessarily anything but the those held within a person or on a field of morality. Neither of those things are in the design of functioning government unit, though they are so ingrained now that we believe they are. Rather, a government is a body that presides over laws, rules, regulations; none of which are rights.

So disconnect the term “right” with “health care” or “roadways” or “education” – none of those things are inalienable rights when held in terms of government. Morality? Maybe. But government makes no claims are morality, nor should it. And once rights are removed from the government equation, evaluate universal health care.

But we can’t. In America, rights are the government. Or, equivalently, rights are what the government decrees as rights. Why doesn’t this shock the American public? Because we have indoctrinated in us the idea that America is larger than all other things. “Rights in other countries are the same as rights in America…we’re better than that.” And so let’s be better than that with health care! Let’s make health care the right that it isn’t. Let’s make it the luxury that truly demonstrates why America is the greatest country in the world.

Moving to the next argument against health care – economics (how the hell are we going to pay for it?) To this, I say, forget about the money. We as citizens are 100% fine with our outrageous military spending – spending that is frivolous at best, as money is wasted every single day fighting a meaningless war in Iraq and patrolling the borders. But it’s our safety people say, as if that budget stopped September 11 from occurring. Fact is, unless we cut our spending to that of Chile (which I am in no way advocating), the people of this nation will be as safe as possible. No amount of military spending would repel an initial attack on America if those attackers were truly intent on hitting this nation.

So cut the budget! Not only can we fund the entire health care plan but slicing the military budget in half, but we could lower overall taxes, pave our roads, and have enough left over to still be the largest military spender by far. Don’t believe me? Look at some of the facts:

US military spending accounts for 48 percent, or almost half, of the world’s total military spending

US military spending is more than the next 46 highest spending countries in the world combined

US military spending is 5.8 times more than China, 10.2 times more than Russia, and 98.6 times more than Iran.

US military spending is almost 55 times the spending on the six “rogue” states (Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Sudan and Syria) whose spending amounts to around $13 billion, maximum. (Tabulated data does not include four of the six, as the data only lists nations that have spent over 1 billion in the year, so their budget is assumed to be $1 billion each)

US spending is more than the combined spending of the next 45 countries.

The United States and its strongest allies (the NATO countries, Japan, South Korea and Australia) spend $1.1 trillion on their militaries combined, representing 72 percent of the world’s total.

The six potential “enemies,” Russia, and China together account for about $205 billion or 29% of the US military budget.

[source: http://www.globalissues.org/article/75/world-military-spending]

I am going to rest my version of that case and move onto the next point of contention: the private sector effect.

What will capitalism become if the government offers a public option? How will they compete? First and foremost, I’m not sold on the idea that competition is the only good thing for public. Yes, capitalism usually leads to lower costs and better services, but not always. After all, look at the financial system, run rampart and through and through corrupt. Or the current insurance industry. It’s so outrageous that it actually detrimentally affects doctors and patients.

But excusing capitalism and its possible shortcomings – isn’t the government the perfect competition? Think of it as a slightly bigger Wal-Mart. And while Wal-Mart isn’t the greatest thing around for culture, no one argues about its capitalist nature. But then the problem comes up that at some level, the government could acutally incur no true costs (thanks to taxes), driving all competition out of business and then not be pushed to offer excellent service. Valid point. To combat this, my mind would focus on only one thing – the power of the population. When did everyone forget that in America, we have a voice! We can rebel, we can step back and knock down on politicians if we so choose. So if we are taxed to death in order to provide funding for a fledgelings public option, step up America and do what your forefathers did. Nobody said that just because things are one way at the present, they should stay that way. In fact, Americans are built on the foundation that a statement such as that is inherently false.

And the final argument against universal health care my mind fostered was the belief that care would suffer, that people would be lined up around a block to see a practitioner or that the level of care itself would be poor. These fears are pure media propaganda, propaganda that isn’t even promulgated most effectively. For if this was true, how come the British people or the Canadians or the French speaking out in either their own countries or in this one? If it were true, every news station would have a Brit on talking about the failures of the health care system. But can you name the last time this happened? I cannot. Rather, we see Americans on the news telling their own terror tales of health care issues and denied procedures. Remember, the United State of America – the land of opportunity – is the only industrialized nation not to offer health care: If the care in those other countries is so poor, why do we have shorter life expectancy’s?

All these arguments for and against universal health care are still irrelevant. There is only one relevant factor in the discussion: is America willing to forgo the fundamental values it was built open – that it is a land built on being different, being better than the rest of the world – in order to save some money or save some face in an argument? I hope not.

After all, the arguments are opinions. And we know what those are just like…

[note: this article has not been edited]

I do have some good news that I do have a new job, I got the job with Sky. Like I told one of the trainers, my phone is a pain in the fucking arse and sometimes doesn’t connect when people are trying to call or text me, it just says that my number isn’t active or something? Fecking thing! ERGH! Not cool.

Downloaded a few films recently that I’m looking forward to watching, Away We Go which looks pretty cool, completely Indie looking film but looks really nice. Just watching Step Brothers again which is proper funny and totally underrated.I really think Mary Steenburgen is actually still fit and I’ve always thought she was gorgeous even from back in the day when I saw her in Parenthood

I also forgot to post pics on Holly Willoughby, good god, so fit!

I’m trying to think of any other interesting things to write or say or whatever but nothing is coming haha. Trying to think of any YouTube vids or something but like usual nothing is coming to mind haha.

Another day, another installment of my countdown…

30. Threesome

- This really feels like its ranked for too high considering the quality of some of the albums that came before it on my list, but for some reason, it really feels right being in the Top 30. Weird, just like the movie.
Fave tracks: “Bizarre Love Triangle” – New order, “Dancing Barefoot” – U2 & “That Was The Day” – The The

29. Fast Time At Ridgemont High

- Iconic movie, if somewhat dated… the soundtrack really only works for die-hard fans of the movie in my opinion. Which works just fine for me.
Fave Tracks: “Somebody’s Baby” – Jackson Browne, “Love Rules” – Don Henley & “fast Times at Ridgemont High” – Sammy Hagar.

28. Armageddon

-Sure, the movie is an over the top Popcorn extravaganza like only Jerry Bruckheimer can give us…but it works. And Bruce Willis save the world.
Fave tracks: All the Aerosmith tracks (yes including “I dont wanna miss a thing”, solely because it gave them their only #1), and most of the others too (cop out i know!)

27. Forrest Gump

- Can’t say I’m a Tom Hanks fan, but the man makes AMAZING movies. This 2 disc set has an endless array of out and out classics.
Fave Tracks: pick one – Elvis, Wilson Pickett, Joan Baez, Creedance, Beach Boys, The Doors, Simon & Garfunkel, Jefferson Airplane, The Byrds, Randy Newman, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Fleetwood Mac….(see neither can I)

26. Velvet Goldmine

- throw in some Glam Rock, add a touch of modern Rock and you get one kick @ss selection.
Fave Tracks: “20th Century Boy” – Placebo, “We Are The Boys” – Pulp & “Diamond Meadows” – T.Rex

25. Almost Famous

- Great selection of classics here…and is makes the list on the strength of that alone. I cannot tell a lie here… I havent seen this movie in its entirety. It would probably list higher if I did.
Fave Tracks: “Simple Man” – Lynyrd Skynyrd, “One Way Out” Allman Brothers, “Tiny Dancer” – Elton John

24. Dead man Walking

- Anyone who ever doubts the mad skills of Sean Penn needs to see this movie. It was the soundtrack that made me realize how much of a genius Eddie Vedder is (although I still HATE Pearl Jam…weird)
Fave Tracks: “The Face of Love” – Eddie Vedder & Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, “Dead Man Walkin’ – Bruce Springsteen, “In Your Mind” – Johnny Cash.

23. The Dark Knight

- The only out and out Score on my countdown (Gladiator & Lord Of The Rings just missed the cut). Superb and effective. Got robbed of an Oscar. (Or as a friend of mine would say, “I Still can’t believe Dark Knight didnt win Best Film”)
Fave Tracks: “Why So Serious” – by composers Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard chills!

22. Tank Girl

- this movie came about during a very poignant time in my life, but while the movie has since been forgotten, the soundtrack will always have special memories for me.
Fave Tracks: “Aurora” – Veruca Salt, “Army of Me” – Bjork, “Roads”- Portishead & “Shove” – L7

21. Stranger Than Fiction

- This for me is Will Ferrel’s finest performance as an actor (even though Anchorman was the shiz), and the movie is perfectly compliments by a phenomenal soundtrack.
Fave Tracks: “The Book I Write” – Spoon, “That’s Entertainment” – The Jam & “Gone Missing” – Maximo Park

Top 20 soon! Stay Tuned!

hey dvd fans

Here’s today’s arrivals…maybe you find something you also want to add to your collection….

Commando: Definitive Edition

What a mission to find a special edition of this…in fact…the only place i could find it was an Australian vendor. But i LOVE these definitive editions, and since the only version South Africa has is the cr@ppy VHS transfer that is essentially the cut version of the movie…this was well worth it. Great Arnie action, and a very young Alyssa Milano. Classic.

Last Action Hero

You know…this is such an underated movie. Although, to be honest, I was disappointed with it like most people when I saw it at the cinema, but have since learned to love it. A ton of inside jokes. Give it another chance. Arnie for life.

Daylight

I could spend all day watching Stallone movies. This is a sleeper hit in my eyes, a throwback to the disaster movies of the 70s…but the guy who steals the show is Viggo Mortensen.

WWE No Way Out 2006 & SummerSlam 2007

Passion. Obsession.

Ali G, Innit

Replacement DVD, featuring the early genius of Sacha Baron Cohen. The man is a god.

Minority Report: Definitive Edition

Had mixed feelings about this originally, but found the Definitive Edition in a tin for dirt cheap, so thought I’d give it another bash. Plus I’m rediscovering my appreciation for Tom Cruise.

Josie and The Pussycats

Anyone who doesn’t consider this movie brilliantly clever has either a) not seen it or b) is the good looking one in the family – (dont worry, you won’t get my insult). Back door lover.

Gran Torino

Ok ok, I actually got this one on the weekend, but havent watched it yet. Clint Eastwood is the last of the movie icons in my opinion. I would follow him off a cliff he said i’d be ok. Each film he does is another edition to a legacy that is unparalleled.

and Finally….

Land Of The Lost: Complete collections Edition

All three seasons of the classic TV show (which was ultimately bastardized by Will Ferrell)….Cult members only. Yes, that is a lunch box

Ok, that’s it…I gotta go work on a proper piece of writing for my next blog now.

by ssjrem Well, after several weeks of the box office not living up to levels from a year ago, G.I.

by ssjrem

Well, after several weeks of the box office not living up to levels from a year ago, G.I. Joe comes along and rescues the summer box office, which had been in a bit of a rough patch for the past few weeks. This is especially good news in August, normally the weakest of the summer months in terms of box office.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Number one this weekend is obviously G.I. Joe. I have to admit that it did a fair bit better than I expected. I only pinned it around 44 million, but it ended up with 54.7 million for that weekend. That is a very solid number. Both critics and moviegoers don’t seem to care for it too much, so I don’t think it will have great legs, but 100 million is a guarantee and it could get up to about 130 or so. This debut is actually rather impressive considering August is a pretty weak month for openers. Only three movies (The Bourne Ultimatum, Rush Hour 2, and Signs) have opened to more in the month of August. I haven’t seen this yet and I don’t really think it looks that good, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if I ended up seeing it anyway. My friends and I never really have anything to do….. Anyway, let’s move on to number two!

Julie and Julia

I love Amy Adams. I thought about just putting up a sexy picture of her, but I’m going to try to stop doing that. I think it got a little stale. Anyway, I don’t understand this movie at all. It seemed like it had one of the dumbest premises ever. It just seems weird. Anyway, though, it connected pretty well with its target audience of older women and debuted solidly to 20 million. It’s rated 76% at Rotten Tomatoes and has a solid 7.8 in user ratings on The Internet Movie Database. Movies like this tend to have pretty good legs, too, so I would say that 100 million is a possibility. It’s not likely, but it’s certainly possible.

3. G-Force makes another 9.9 million this weekend for a total of 86 million. It’ll get over 100 million, but not by much. It’s been having unusually large declines for a kids’ movie, especially one in 3-D. Maybe the 3-D novelty is starting to wear off.

4. Harry Potter sees its gross chopped in half from last weekend, pulling in 8.9 million to lift the total to 273.8 million. At the same point, Order of the Phoenix had grossed 261 million. Half Blood Prince is pulling in a little less per weekend now, so it will continue to see its lead picked away. I do think it will end up outgrossing OOTP, though. 300 million seems like a stretch; a total in the mid 290s seems in store.

5. Wow, people really hate Funny People. I guess it really must suck. First, it underperformed last weekend. Now, it falls like a rock. It decreased 65% from last weekend and fell from first to fifth and has grossed only 40.5 million so far. That is massively disappointing. Well, shit happens, I guess.

6. The Ugly Truth makes about 6.7 million. Total up to 68.8 million. Katherine Heigl is hot. I have nothing more to say.

7. I read Roger Ebert’s review for The Perfect Getaway and it made me laugh. He didn’t know what the movie was about and thought it was a comedy going into it when it fact it’s a horror movie. Honestly, I wouldn’t even know this movie existed if I didn’t do all this movie and box office shit on the Internet. I haven’t seen a single advertisement for this movie, though it certainly helps that I never watch TV. Anyway, it made a little under 6 million. Yeah, uh, this is probably going absolutely nowhere.

8. Aliens in the Attic manages one more weekend in the top ten, falling 50% to a little more than 4 million. The total stands at 16 million against a 45 million budget. How one spends 45 million dollars on a movie like this is just beyond me.

9. (500) Days of Summer makes a somewhat surprising appearance into the top ten. It just expanded from a limited release. It made 3.7 million this weekend and add to that the money it made while in limited release, it’s up to 12.4 so far. It’s got a very impressive 89% at Rotten Tomatoes and also has an 8.7 at IMDB, making it currently the 129th highest rated movie on the site. I imagine that ranking will fall; they usually do with time, but that’s still very impressive. I love Zooey Deschanel. I’ve loved her ever since Elf. I thought she looked really good as a blonde, but I do like her as a brunette even more. Anyway, let’s move on.

10. Orphan falls 51%, makes 3.7 million, and raises its total to 34.8 million. Not bad.

Anyway, a number of big summer blockbusters fell from the top ten this weekend, so I’ll give them a send off. Transformers is up to 394 million, The Hangover’s up to 262, The Proposal’s at 155, and Ice Age is at 188. Yeah, I did really shitty in the derby this week. I’d rather not comment on it. So, yeah, next weekend brings us District 9, a movie which has me very intrigued. I could imagine it sucking, but I I do think that there is a lot of potential. I’ll probably see it opening weekend, so expect a review from me or Dukemich soon enough. I guess that’s it. Peace out.

I saw a pickup truck parked on my street today. I felt like Will Ferrell in Elf when he gets excited about seeing a dog. You don’t see many dogs in the North Pole, and you really don’t see many F-150’s parallel parked in the city.

On an unrelated note (because I’m not sure where to go with the above tid-bit), here are some sketches to be added to my portfolio:

They remind me of clothes to put on paper dolls. I may have made them dance around a bit.

They go with these pictures (Sorry they’re fuzzy. The original photos are on my desktop, which is in Idaho):

They will forever regret being in these pictures for me, I'm sure.

You can see the original blog post about these jackets and shirts here. You can also view these pictures on my online portfolio here.
