There is no doubt that despite simplicity cellular window blinds are attractive. They are one of the most favored window treatments in many houses. They have many great advantages and benefits for large families and small families. The best thing about them is that you can enjoy as much privacy as you want. You will also notice that after installing them your electricity bill is coming out to much less. Why? Because cellular blinds, also known as honeycomb window blinds, conserve energy so you won’t have to waste as much heat or cool air. The house will be kept warm during the winter and cool during the summer. You won’t have to spend as much money on heaters and air conditioners in other words.

There are many different popular styles of cellular blinds. The ones you choose should be based on your personal preferences and taste in home style. There are things you should be aware of though, like the prices and durability. Many people in many cases can lose a lot of money in a simple purchase for window treatment. You have to know exactly the type of blinds you want and you should also do a little research online to know more about them and prices they should be available in. they shouldn’t be too expensive since they aren’t made of expensive material.

They are made of cellular fabric and horizontal pleats making them look extra attractive. A specific type of cellular blinds is made so that only the white side is apparent. Any type you choose has it’s extra abilities. Some of them allow a bit of sunlight to enter the room while others offer a blackout once they are closed shut. You should buy them depending on the room you want to place them in. If you want to make a home cinema for instance then you should make sure that the type you want to purchase offers a complete blackout.

Within the last two weeks, I had noticed an increase in the number of customers who have called inquiring about wanting to install some type of motorized controller to open and close their skylights and windows. The windows of concern are usually hopper or awning windows, and are typically mounted up high, making manual operation cumbersome at the least. Just so you know, a hopper window is hinged at the bottom, whereas the awning window is hinged at the top. The skylight, of course, is mounted through the ceiling. Regardless of window, you need to have a tall ladder or a telescoping pole crank to operate these units.

Home Controls does not sell ladders or pole cranks, but we do carry motorized chain actuators that can be used on skylights and on both types of windows. Two of the more popular chain actuators are the Ultraflex Vega and the Sintesi. Both units are powered by line voltage, and can be controlled either by a wall switch, or if automation is required, a module with environmental sensor and contact closure inputs can be used. RF control is an option, too. The Vega is the recommended actuator of choice for most appliations. Though its pull-in force is not as strong nor is its chain speed as fast as that of the Sintesi, here are some key benefits that the Vega has over the Sintesi:

Lower electrical current draw.

Self adjusting, electronic limit switches simplifies installation and requires less maintenance.

The chain exits the center of the case for a balanced, aesthetic look.

The Vega is supplied with pivoting mounting hardware.

The Vega is readily available in stock through our supplier.

Take a look at the comparison chart between these two chain actuators, and note the stroke and force of each unit. If your window falls within the capacity of the Vega, you will not be disappointed with its performance. If, however, you need that additional ooomph when pulling in a heavy hopper window, then the Sintesi will be the one to meet that task.

If you need additional information or have questions on either unit, you know how to get hold of me. I’ll be glad to share with you the installation and wiring diagrams.

If I could choose the life I’d lead then I would choose another.

Variation on a Levellers song.

Sitting room on Holme Road, West Bridgeford, Nottingham. Seven minutes before I need to leave and catch the bus – should go look for change – see if I have enough to get there – the train station, but not too much.
Smoke one cigarette in the morning – but can’t really call it morning, not out of bed until one thirty – afternoon.

Inspired to take inventory – inspired to write but now just a sad, chill emptiness. Thinking about history of cigarette smoke drawn into my lungs.
Just now remember S’s house when her father was gone to California to work for a while. The absence of tobacco smoke.

My head starts up when anyone passes by the window facing the sidewalk… May or may not have enough time to get a replacement student railcard. With luck it will be in the lost item place at Nottingham rail station, if they even have a lost and found. Maybe should get a general bus pass as well.
Time to find bus fare.

Miss this bus as well, nature is calling.

Ask about the images – ask about another, close the door. Ask yourself the questions you can’t answer.
Pick up your scattered possessions, all the things you’ve never owned, and leave.

I was noodling around the derelict area around Temple Quay in Bristol recently and found this broken

I was noodling around the derelict area around Temple Quay in Bristol recently and found this broken window. It looked rather strange to me because I was expecting there to be a space beyond it, not what looked like loft insulation.

I then realised I was looking at a totally closed building, one probably dating from the 1970s that I’d walked past many times on the way to/from work over the past 25 years or so. It seemed really strange that a building younger than I am was going to be knocked down and redeveloped. Rather a waste in fact. I also felt a sense of irony as there are the offices of banks and insurance companies nearby. Temples of greed and plenty, who have probably swallowed up places like this one whole in the name of profit and redevelopment.

Just along from here there were people waiting on the pavement. That seemed strange too because of the derelict buildings and wasteland around them, plus they were standing in a no through road. I wondered if anyone would come and pick them up or perhaps they were lost souls from the empty offices.

I found a planning notice on a lamppost nearby which told me I was standing in Old Bread Street. It reminded me how old this part of Bristol actually is, though it’s getting increasingly harder to tell. WWII devastation initially swept away much of the old buildings around these parts: now the incomplete redevelopment of this riverside area of the 1960s and 1970s is in turn being swept away in the name of progress. The Old Soap Factory in the same road is a portent of things to come: shiny expensive new flats which no-one wants to buy. The sales advertisements hang outside rather like the Knights Templar flags may have done in this area centuries ago.

Just after I took this photo a man started calling after me asking if he could help. There was a portacabin with a security guard nearby, but somehow the nature of this man’s voice said he wasn’t the security guard. Perhaps he was one of the down and outs I’d seen evidence of from the empty cans of cider scattered around the wasteland beyond the blue door. Although it was broad daylight, I shivered and suddenly felt vulnerable in this place. I walked away until I could hear the man’s voice no more.

I didn’t look back.

THE ART WHEELS OF KINGKAJAPPÏ AND SACRED CIRCLE IMAGERY

The circle has been a powerful symbol for thousands of years and I thought that this would be an interesting art series. Religious and non religious people look at this shape every day, and yet few take in its power in history. The pharoah Akhenaton (Akhenaten) created a whole revolution at Tel-El- Amarna with worship of the Aton (Aten), or sun disk which was an aspect of the god Amen-Ra. In Judaism, and Islamic texts, there are stories about King Solomon and his seal (also said to be a sigil or signet ring) , and in Christian texts there is the story of Ezekiel seeing a vision of a wheel within in a wheel in the sky.

In the east, mandalas, yantras , and the bindu dot have been used for meditation, healing, protection, and spiritual guidance and the Yin Yang symbol is one of balance. Many of the early Gothic Churches in Europe are known this day for their elaborate circular stained glass windows, as well as the Celtic Cross. The legend of King Arthur and his knights of the round table is one that goes back to 1155 in poet Wace’s “Roman de Brut. King Arthur had the table built to prevent quarrels over sitting status. The fez headress of the Moors is circular on the top with a tassle in the middle that turns 360º which is a full complete circle.

Astronomical Calendars like Stonehenge ,the Mayan Wheel or even Native American Medicine wheels, are all more instances of a sacred circle. Cultures from the continent Africa to the Americas have used drums like the djembe, congo , and bongos to bring music for healing, celebration, and call to arms for battle.
In closing, there are far to many circular images for them to be ignored, like fllying saucers, shields, coins, plates, hoops, records, cd’s rings, and… ARE YOU GETTING TIRED YET??? My point is that the circle is a shape that never seems to go out of purpose. With that I hope you will take a look at my paper art wheels and remember the power of the circle and how it has been a part of your world.

Almost one year ago we presented Swap plugin here. Now we renamed it to Swapper and ported to Compiz++ (future Compiz 0.9).

Just to remember that it allows you to swap the geometry of two windows. Basically we changed Switcher plugin to swap active window with another window.

Swapper could be inserted on new Compiz if everybody likes it. Waiting for replies!

is a window.
I can stand on either side
and look through to the other.

Sometimes the window is open
and sometimes it’s shut,
but either way,
I still have a view.

When I feel the need
to clean the window,
I have to go back and forth because I never can be sure
which side the crud is on.

I’m wondering,
if I ever get both sides clean,
will it be harder to tell
if the window is open or closed?

Maybe it’s good to have a little bit of crud.
