Esses dias atrás precisei instalar um HD SATA da Western Digital, mas o Windows SP2 não consiguia enxergá-lo na hora da instalação, procurei no site os Drivers para instalar pelo disquete e nenhuma funcionou, a única coisa que solucionou meus problemas foi o Windows XP Service Pack 3

Ele tem uma lista imensa de drivers novos, além de já ter instalado o som no computador aqui do serviço que já é meio antigo.

Microsoft on Thursday released Windows XP Mode to manufacturing and said it will make XP Mode available as a public download on Oct. 22, the official launch date for Windows 7.

XP Mode is Microsoft’s acknowledgment that many customers skipped Vista and will be moving to Windows 7 directly from XP, an OS that’s now nearly eight years old. Microsoft says XP Mode is designed for SMBs that have been running older or custom-built applications, and it maintains backward compatibility with these apps through a virtual Windows XP SP3 environment running under Windows Virtual PC.

Microsoft VARs like the backward compatibility approach that XP Mode represents, and many have been using XP Mode as a selling point for Windows 7. Still, there are reasons to believe that XP Mode might not have an immediate impact on Windows 7 upgrades.

Customers that buy Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions will get XP Mode as a free download. But they’ll need to buy new hardware, since XP Mode requires PCs with at least 2 gigabytes of RAM and 15 gigabytes of free hard drive space, as well as virtualization-enabled processors from Intel and AMD.

Despite recent signs of economic improvement, it’s worth questioning whether 2010 will see any large-scale loosening of IT purse strings. Given the resiliency of small businesses, and their unmatched ability to do more with less, it’s possible that some will just stay with their XP machines and give XP Mode a miss.

Há algum tempo que ouço sobre o novo Windows, mas nunca me animei. Basicamente porque a máquina onde eu poderia testar se conecta através de um ponto de acesso sem fio — e eu francamente acho muito incômodo ter de instalar drivers manualmente. Porém, para a minha surpresa, o Windows 7 reconheceu a rede, e o único trabalho que tive foi fornecer a senha para ter acesso. Acredito que o 7 não terá problemas em reconhecer uma conexão cabeada, roteada ou não.

A máquina citada é utlizada para acessar a internet para pesquisas, ler e-mails e coisas do gênero. O sistema operacional anterior era um Windows XP, rodando sempre Google Chrome, Avira e BrOffice — além do tema clássico. Nas mesmas circunstâncias, o Windows 7 tem se saído muito mais rápido que o anterior. A diferença chega a ser grotesca.

O único ponto negativo até agora: não há suporte para o BrOffice. Não tentei instalar na marra.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 is an important update for your XP operating system. It patches a lot of security vulnerabilities for the XP operating system. Unfortunately, once you update to Service Pack 3 some hardware devices might not function properly. If you have tried downloading the latest drivers or you already did a system restore but you still have the problem, you can just uninstall Service Pack 3.

There are two methods in removing Service Pack 3 from your PC. Follow the steps in removing Service Pack 3

Method 1: Using the Add Remove Programs in Control Panel

1. Click START, CONTROL PANEL and then ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS
2. Check SHOW UPDATES on the upper right hand corner
3. Look for WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 3 and then click REMOVE
4. Follow the steps and click FINISH to restart your PC

After restarting Service Pack 3 would be removed from your PC. Easy, isn’t it?

Method 2: Using the Service Pack Uninstaller wizard

If for some odd reason you cannot remove Service Pack using Add Remove Programs (honestly I can’t think of any reason why you cannot do it from Add Remove Programs) you can use the hidden Service Pack 3 uninstaller wizard

1. Click START and then RUN
2. On the RUN box, type “c:windows$NtServicePackUninstall$spuninstspuninst.exe” without the quotes and press ENTER
3. The Service Pack 3 uninstaller wizard would pup up. Just follow the steps. Click FINISH to restart your PC

This weekend I hung out with Travis and Jordan for the night. It was a great time, Got to play plenty of games, including Left 4 Dead, Little Big Planet, Halo 3, etc. My brother had a friend over at the time too who claimed he could beat us in a game of Halo 3. So we setup a LAN game and destroyed him. Score was like 50 to 36. Not bad. :3

Computer Install

Oh the sweet sweet feeling of a clean install of Windows XP. I do it every 3-4 months like clockwork. Computer is starting to slow down, getting blue screens, etc = time to reinstall windows. So I did it this weekend and compared to the speed before, Its so much faster.
