Aunque mi opinión es que cada vez menos los usuarios de Linux necesitamos de Wine, siempre hay casos en que nos vemos obligados a utilizar algun programa de Windows. Con Wine-doors se hace terriblemente sencillo instalar aplicacione Windows en nuestro Ubuntu. Una vez instalado nos ofrece un menú con bastantes aplicaciones disponibles, entre las que se destacan la mayoría de los navegadores, Dreamweaver,  juegos como Half-live 2, Call of Duty 2, numerosas fuentes y librerías y algunos programas como Winamp, Total Commander, Etc.

Desde el link de abajo podemos descargar el paquete deb para instalarlo con GDebi.

Linux jest coraz bardziej przystępnym system dla mas, powstaje coraz więcej aplikacji mających na celu ułatwić korzystanie z systemu operacyjnego a nawet takie które paroma kliknięciami instalują i konfigurują oprogramowanie. Wine-Doors nie tyle ułatwia instalacje “zamkniętych” aplikacji a także konfiguruje i instaluje np. czcionki aby program działał bez zarzutu.

Wine-Doors jest dostosowane raczej do GNOME, jednak według tworcow działa także pod KDE, reki nie dam sobie uciac bo nie testowałem ale powinno działać. Pakiet .deb sciagamy z oficialnej strony. Po instalacji wine-doors znajduje sie w Aplikacje -> Narzędzia systemowe -> Wine-Doors. I juz możemy sie cieszyć kilkudziesięcioma programami które bez problemu sie zainstalują i uruchomia (przynajmniej takie jest zalozenie wine-doors ). Ja osobiście zainstalowałem IE Macromedia Flash dzięki czemu bez problemu dzialaja takie strony jak miniclip.com ku uciesze młodszego brata .

Um dos grandes dilemas do utilizador do Ubuntu: como trazer os programas preferidos para o Ubuntu. Grande parte dos utilizadores procuram alternativas open source. Muito conseguem descobrir, não só boas alternativas, como opções melhores. No entanto, existem casos que não há alternativas!

Estamos demasiados viciados na estrutura da aplicação que não conseguimos adaptar-nos a novos softwares!

Para utilizadores que querem instalar programas windows no Ubuntu, devem dar uma vista de olhos nos seguintes programas:

Probablemente si eres un usuario que lleva su tiempo en Linux y lees esto, no te importe. Pero para un usuario que recién instaló Linux en su sistema, este post puede ser la línea que discrimine entre mantener linux y volver a Windows. ¿Así de dramático? SI.

GNU/Linux dista mucho de la perfección. Sobre todo en lo que a compatibilidad se refiere. Todo empeora cuando no encuentras ese programa que necesitas porque en Linux no hay una alternativa, o quieres jugar Age Of Empires y te das cuenta que no es llegar e instalar; o simplemente Openoffice no cumplió tus expectativas, y corres llorando a los brazos de MS Office.

Si estás en este dilema, te cuento de esta interesante solución llamada Wine, un proyecto que nació en 1993 con un objetivo claro: permitir que aplicaciones de Windows corrieran en GNU/Linux. El resultado sorprende, ya que permite cosas como ésta:

Instalando Wine

Tienes dos opciones

1. Instalar la versión estable con sudo apt-get install wine.
2. Instalar la última versión disponible, que se actualiza cada cierto tiempo.

Si eliges la segunda opción, sigue los siguientes pasos

• Abre una terminal (Aplicaciones/Accesorios/Terminal)
• Añade la llave gpg de Wine con sudo wget -q http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/387EE263.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add -
• Añade el repositorio de Wine escribiendo sudo wget http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/sources.list.d/jaunty.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.list
• Recarga la lista de repositorios con sudo apt-get update
• Instala wine con sudo apt-get install wine

Podrás acceder a él desde Aplicaciones/Wine:

- ¿Y eso?¿para qué me sirve?

- Si eres usuario Avanzado, probablemente te sirva. A grandes rasgos, es el archivo de configuración de wine, que permite revisar librerias, temas, entre otras cosas. Pero por el mmomento no es importante, sigamos adelante.

A partir de este momento, cada vez que tengamos un archivo .exe, es posible que podamos instalarlo en Linux haciendo doble click. Digo que es posible porque no todas las aplicaciones son perfectamente compatibles. Una que otra presenta problemas…

¿Quieres saber si la que necesita tiene problemas? Ingresa a la Base de datos de Aplicaciones de Wine y averígualo. Cada programa instalado y testeado tiene un ranking. SI no aparece tu programa en la lista, colabora y sube tus impresiones:

Si ocupaste el programa y deseas desinstalarlo, Ingresa a Aplicaciones/Wine/Unistall Wine software:

Y permitirá que puedas desinstalar de manera sencilla ese programa que no se quiere borrar:

Winetricks y Wine-doors, esa ayuda que necesitas

Desgraciadamente hay aplicaciones que no son tan sencillas de instalar por wine, ya que necesitan librerías adicionales, o un programa extra que no viene instalado (Un buen ejemplo de esto es Office 2007 en Ubuntu: todavía no he podido instalarlo exitosamente…). Para esas y otras situaciones contamos con 2 “extensiones” (no sé si realmente puedan recibir ese nombre…) para wine.

Winetricks

Winetricks es un script que permite descargar librerías necesarias para ciertos programas que no se quieren instalar… U otras que pueden llegar a servir, como Direct X.

Para instalar, abre una terminal y escribe: wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks. Esto descargará el script en tu escritorio. Luego le damos permisos de ejecución con chmod +x ./winetricks

Para terminar, lo ejecutas con ./winetricks

Wine-doors es una sencilla aplicación que permite instalar de manera sencilla aplicaciones famosas en Windows, como el Ares, o Photoshop. Incluso juegos como el Half Life 2.

Para instalar, ingresa a la sección de descargas e instala la versión más reciente

Pasti pengguna linux sudah sangat hafal dengan program wine kan? Sekarang ada tambahan baru buat yang masih sering gonta ganti sistem. Ini dia wine-doors (aplikasi tambahan untuk wine). Walau tak sebagus crossOver tapi cukup bisa di andalkan, selain itu anda bisa mendownload + install langsung program semacam WinAmp, quicktime 5 dsb (liat saja list yang di dukung wine-doors setelah wine-doors terinstall). Wine-doors juga menyertakan berbagai file pendukung agar program windows dapat berjalan sempurna di linux. Seperti biasa download wine-doors di www.wine-doors.org. Download paket deb atau paket tarball, Install dan jalankan. Cara menginstall juga tidak rumit, bagi anda pengguna ubuntu bisa dengan mengklik file tersebut,otomatis akan di install dengan gdebi package installer. Nah setelah terinstall coba buka dari menu Application–system tools–wine-Doors.

Lihat, ada beberapa paket windows didalamnya juga ada beberapa games lho..tapi sampai tulisan ini di turunkan saya belum mencoba satupun paket yang ada di list wine-doors ..

Quanti di voi hanno fatto un dual boot con win solo per continuare a giocare? Molti non sanno che grazie a Wine e ad altri 2 programmini possiamo far girare sul nostro OS molti giochi solo per Windows tra cui Guild Wars, WOW, Metin2, Call of Duty ed altri.

Fedora Linux + Wine + Wine Doors rasanya asyik. Freedom dan Infinity di Linux plus menyelamatkan software-software proprietary yang terlanjur di beli oleh kantor. Jadi boss ngak marah nih! O ya, Wine Doors adalah aplikasi manajemen aplikasi Windows untuk GNOME di Linux. tujuannya adalah untuk memudahkan kita menginstall aplikasi Windows di Linux. Suatu paduan kemudahan dan keamanan yang tangguh!

Wine Doors merupakan kemudahan yang dibuat pembuatnya di http://www.wine-doors.org dalam menginstall paket-paket aplikasi dan libraries. tidak seperti winetricks yang geeky Wine Doors sangat user friendly dan mirip Yumex dalam menginstall kebutuhan kita.

Untuk donwload Wine Doors (dalam bentuk rpm untuk Fedora) silakan kunjungi situsnya. Syarat mutlak agar wine doors jalan adalah Wine sendiri, dan glade2.

Instalasi cukup jalankan:

# rpm -ivh wine-doors*.rpm

Untuk menjalankannya Wine Doors nangkring di Applications > System Tools dan klik Iconnya disana. Pertama-tama kita musti mencontreng apakah kita punya lisensi Windows?

In the Mid 90’s, Sun had a product called Wabi which implemented the Windows API on top of Solaris or as the manual put’s it “The Wabi(TM) program is a UNIX(R) application that enables you to run Microsoft Windows applications on several UNIX operating environments that use the X Window System“.

It’s been a long time since and Wabi met it’s end, over 10 years ago in fact – since then the Wine Project have picked up the batton and run with it. Wine recently released a release candidate to finally take Wine to release 1.0, after 15 years!

A lot of people have things they wish were done in indiana and Windows application support is right up the top of my list. No doubt some people will kindly point out that this blog post tells me how to compile it using CBE and Sun studio. Although I can spend the time doing this it’s not exactly an intuitive path and I most certainly would not recommend OpenSolaris as a desktop platform if this was the case (and yes some will argue with me as to whether Solaris is a desktop platform, but i will kindly point that there are lots of people using Sun Ray’s, Ultra XX’s and so on).

And I’m not picking just on OpenSolaris here, I am yet to see any platform – Linux, BSD or otherwise that makes running Wine applications simple. This is where I must commend the work of Karl Lattimer and his Wine-Doors project:

Wine-doors is essentially a package manager for Windows applications running on Wine, it utilises the existing model that is used on both Linux and Unix systems (APT, YUM, IPS) with a Synaptic like GUI.

Although Wine-Doors is produced for Linux Karl has expressed an interest in providing a build for OpenSolaris (Indiana), the only problem being that we don’t have a current version of Wine packaged for Indiana.

If we can get a well polished Wine-Doors running on Indiana, as well as fixing up the few other issues (DVD, Codecs etc.) we would be well placed as an alternative to Windows.

I am not too sure if wine poses a submarine patent risk for vendors that ship it but it would be great to see Sun have another go at running Windows applications on Solaris, it would definitely make the Sun Ray a much more exciting commercial offering.

Oggi, dopo qualche giorno di pausa, torno a scrivere, anche se brevemente.
Qualche giorno fa ho scoperto un applicativo davvero utile per installare programmi presenti su Windows su Linux: Wine Doors.
Questo programma, basato su Wine, permette di installare in maniera semplificata alcuni tra i programmi più usati su piattaforma Microsoft (come Photoshop, Dreamweaver,…)

Davvero ottimo!!!

What in the world is a wine cellar door? Perhaps the best way to answer this question is with an illustration of what a wine cellar is. As I discussed in my last post, an active wine cellar is a room that is created to be a refrigerator for lack of a better word. The walls and ceiling (as well as floor if the cellar is above grade with a basement below it) are insulated with a vapor barrier installed. The latter helps create an environment without excess moisture which can cause mold and mildew. For all intents and purposes this is now a sealed room. Once a cooling unit is installed to create an environment for wine to age properly, the only weakness to the space now is the point of entry i.e. the door.

A good wine cellar door is not only a work of art designed to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye and to announce to the world that you are now affluent enough to have a wine cellar in your living quarters, but it also locks in that fresh wine smell. Seriously though, a good wine cellar door must act just like an exterior door of a house. Instead of keeping the heat in the house it keeps the cold in the cellar.

I receive a lot of questions on this topic. Many people are caught off guard by the price of a good wine cellar door. Some people ask me if just any door will do. My answer is always the same “NO”.

If you are going to go through all the trouble to build the perfect cellar to house your precious wine then why throw all of that away by not installing a proper door? Yes there is a cost one must pay for a beautiful wine cellar door. But this door will be there, guarding your wine long after you are no longer here to enjoy it!

So remember, if you love your wine… Give it a beautiful door to keep it safe. That is all for now.

Wine-doors es una aplicacion que nos hara mas facil la vida con wine y algunas aplicaciones windows, por ejemplo, instalar el programa “Ares 2″ dejara de ser un problema, para los moorhuntianos, tambien podeis instalar mono 1.4 (ya que la ultima version de moorhunt no funciona con mono en linux) y ejecutar moorhunt con wine .

Wine-doors trata los programas de windows como si fuese él mismo un gestor de paquetes, esto es, si estos programas requieren de algun otro, lo instalan.

Simplemente descargamos el paquete deb de la pagina del autor y lo instalamos:

dpkg -i wine-doors*.deb

When deciding to use more than one OS on one computer it can be of value to know that there is more than one option. This article is based on personal preferences of typist of this weblog.

Personally I do not feel particularly comfortable messing around with partitions but I have despite this managed multi boots in the past and this through gParted (a Partition Editor application). I found that handling the partitions on my computer was both discouraging and confusing and not all too simple either. The program I am about to present handles multi operating systems with a sense of alleviation since it does not include managing of partitions. Instead it runs on the desktop (Windows and Linux), it is installed inside the Windows or Linux installation and runs like any other program on your computer.

VirtualBox is one option to dual/multi boot: VirtualBox is a commercial and proprietary X86 virtualization software package produced by German software company innotek GmbH. VirtualBox supports Linux, Mac OS X, OS/2 Warp (experimental OSE builds), Windows, and OpenSolaris hosts. Supported guest operating systems include FreeBSD, Linux, OpenBSD, OS/2 Warp, Windows and Solaris. The pros I find in this arrangement:

1. (The great) Option to use dynamically expanding disc space for the virtual OS.
2. No handling of partitions.
3. (Using WindowsXP) I am still logged on my favorite OS (Kubuntu Gutsy + KDE4) while having the unlimited benifits from WindowsXP contary to Wine & Wine-Doors which are much limited.

• Wine-Doors are looking to be getting ready for 0.1.2
• I just discovered Ubuntu-Tweak and immediately translated it into Norwegian
• Whise picked up where RYX left, and started hammering on Screenlets. I discovered the WaterMark Screenlet. Looks great!
• Avant-window-navigator (AWN) is still in good development, and AWN-testing is a new branch
• All this is making me want to learn Python even more, so I can do some cool stuff too

When Wine is not  installed on the computer the Status show that in this case 2 packages are required and looking at the Details it reads that Wine is one of the two and it is stated that it (Wine) is to be installed.
