Senhor F – Foi quando você decidiu virar músico de estúdio?

Howie Casey – Bem, não se decide isso de uma hora para hora, foi algo que aconteceu, para a minha sorte. Eu voltei da Alemanha para a Inglaterra, entrei com uma banda de Birmigham e fomos tocar em Paris, Milão, várias cidades na Suíça, França. Já era outra coisa, estávamos tocando soul naquela época, tocamos até 1969, quando minha segunda mulher ficou grávida. Eu sou bom nisso (risos)! Era uma boa banda que nos rendeu muito, mas que acabou também. De volta à Inglaterra, me mudei para Londres e comecei a fazer sessões de estúdio. Aí ficou fácil porque conheci muita gente, as pessoas me viam tocando e faziam os convites.

Senhor F – Como você viu todas aquelas mudanças na segunda metade dos anos 60, a cena mod, a psicodelia, os Beatles fazendo Sgt. Peppers…

Howie Casey - Foram grandes mudanças, mas acho que tudo depende muito do tipo de música que você gosta. Os Beatles começaram a mudar as coisas, com o Sgt. Peppers…

Senhor F - Mas você não se envolveu muito…

Howie Casey - Com os Beatles? Não, porque perdemos contato. Eu costumava vê-los de tempos em tempos e era sempre “como vai?”, mas não tocávamos mais juntos. Na verdade eu sempre gostei muito da música negra americana, primeiro com o início do rock’n’roll, o blues. Depois, no meio dos anos 60, com o surgimento da soul music, eu pirei. Me identifiquei profundamente com aquilo. Você tem grandes cantores, os metais… Eu gostava do que os Beatles estavam fazendo, gostava dos mods também, mas aquilo se tornou a minha música, o que eu queria tocar. Sempre foi, de uma certa maneira. Todas as bandas que eu tive era um pouco isso, cantores negros, os instrumentos de sopro, minha ex-mulher também era uma cantora de soul… Quando eu voltei para a Inglaterra eu entrei para outra banda, liderada por Roy Young, muito conhecido na cena rock’n’roll dos nos 50. Era a resposta britânica para Little Richard. Até hoje ele canta como Little Richard, toda aquelas notas altas… A banda era fantástica e me abriu muitas portas como músico de estúdio, porque muita gente ia nos assistir, como o produtor Tony Viscontti. Ele me convidou para várias sessões de estúdio. Nos anos 70, Tony estava co-produzindo Band On The Run para os Wings e ele disse ao Paul “conheço um dos saxofonistas que pode tocar no álbum, Howie Casey”.  A reação do Paul foi: “Howie Casey, você está brincando?” Me chamaram na hora.

Senhor F – Então não foi o Paul quem o chamou?

Howie Casey - Não, foi o Tony, porque àquela altura havíamos perdido completamente o contato. É, porque os Beatles eram famosos demais, era outro estilo de vida… Eu estava apenas trabalhando como músico. Toquei em Jet e Band on the Run. Quando acabamos a sessão, Paul disse aos músicos de estúdio: “valeu, pessoal. Howie, você poderia ficar para mais umas sessões?” Respondi que sim, fui até meio blasé, porque já estava acostumado a sessões de estúdio. Gravamos, recebi meu pagamento, 30 libras, e o disco vendeu seis milhões de cópias de cara.

Senhor F – O disco virou um clássico.

Howie Casey - Sim. Depois, decidiram fazer a turnê, quando eu me separei da minha segunda mulher. Me ligaram do escritório do Paul, MPL, perguntando se eu gostaria de participar. E eu “deixe-me ver…” Topei na hora (risos).

Senhor F – Você achava fácil trabalhar com ele?

Howie Casey - Sim. O disco Band On The Run não foi difícil de fazer, musicalmente falando e o Paul é o tipo de músico que sabe o que quer. Ele não escreve partituras, então costumava sentar ao piano e dizer “quero essa melodia para o sax, essa para o trompete…” Em Silly Love Songs, por exemplo, ele fez isso. Ou então ele cantarolava o trecho do solo. É um cara muito talentoso. Mas aceita sugestões dos músicos, é aberto.

Senhor F – E a turnê?

Howie Casey - Fizemos duas, sendo que a segunda terminou num desastre completo.

Senhor F – Como foi isso?

Howie Casey - Bem, o Paul foi preso no Japão. Estávamos todos reunidos no hotel, encontramos outros músicos que tinham ido para as apresentações, acho que um trompetista e outro saxofonista. Ficamos ali, conversando e bebendo, “turnê nova, que bacana!” De repente um dos empresários do escritório entra com uma cara… E todo mundo “e aí, como vai?” E ele, “Paul foi preso (risos)!” E a gente, “claro, claro (mais risos)!”, porque a gente costumava fazer piadas uns com os outros o tempo todo. Pensamos que era mais uma.

Senhor F - Era uma boa piada…

Howie Casey – É, só que não era! Ele havia ido com Linda e as crianças separadamente. A história é que já haviam inclusive cancelado uma turnê japonesa anos antes por causa disso, as autoridades japonesas disseram que ele não podia tocar lá por causa de problemas com drogas. Então na segunda vez houve uma série de articulações com os políticos para fazer a coisa andar. Quando eles chegaram, foram recepcionados e tudo, “seja bem-vindo senhor McCartney, esperamos que os shows sejam um sucesso”. Apenas por formalidade, escolheram uma das malas dele para abrir. E qual era? Justamente a que continha bagulho! E era um saco imenso! Me disseram que, se eles quisessem, poderiam conseguir aquilo no Japão em vez de trazer de fora… Se tivessem olhado outra mala, nada teria acontecido, mas com aquele saco de maconha… Não havia nada que pudessem fazer. E estava na parte de cima da mala, eles poderiam ter colocado nos fundos, mas não. Devem ter fumado e simplesmente colocaram o saco de volta. Um desastre (risos)! Paul assumiu a culpa e foi preso. Todos ficaram apavorados, estavam falando que ele poderia ficar preso por anos, coisas desse tipo. E tudo que nós podíamos fazer era sentar e esperar. Pelo que eu me lembro ele ficou preso uns dez dias. Ficávamos no hotel, bebendo e esperando as novidades. Gente de influência foi acionada para ajudá-lo, como o senador Edward Kennedy – Paul é muito popular, conhece muita gente – e tentar fazer o governo japonês liberá-lo. Na prisão, deram permissão para ele ter um violão e só. Ele ficou com uns japoneses, não havia cadeiras, todos ficavam agachados! A comida era apenas arroz e eles a serviam assim (faz gesto de quem põe um prato no chão). Até que conseguiram que fosse deportado. A polícia o levou e ele foi colocado na classe econômica de um vôo. É claro que quando as portas se fecharam ele foi colocado na primeira classe (risos)! Acho que o episódio o deixou um pouco traumatizado. Você pode imaginar, toda aquela coisa da sociedade japonesa sobre honra…Para eles é muito importante. A verdade é que Paul teve sorte, de uma certa maneira, porque poderia ter ficado preso por muito tempo.

Senhor F – E esse foi o fim da turnê.

Howie Casey - Acho que sim, não me lembro bem. Tínhamos 11 datas no Japão e não fizemos nenhuma. Mas todos os músicos receberam seus cachês.

Ihre Armbrust erinnert zwar stark an Mercdes aus Odin Sphere aber darüber beklag ich mich sicher nicht Die Flügel sind sehr viel besser (man glaubte kaum, dass das geht…) als die erste Version und ihre Haare zwar sicher ein Schmirgelhorror aber wunderhübsch anzusehn… mal wieder ein großer Wurf von Vispo

Learning from the humble wing, coming to a classroom near you.

“EAST WENATCHEE — Sixth-grader Ryland Dickey picked through layers of raw muscle with clinical intensity, looking for just the right tendon that would make his chicken wing flap.

“Here — it may be easier with the forceps,” Sterling Intermediate School science teacher Linda Waddell told him. “Grab a little piece. There’s a lot of different ones in there and it will surprise you which ones will pull different muscles.”

Waddell’s afternoon class, all 11- and 12-year-olds, wore black plastic bags, latex gloves and safety goggles Wednesday. The 28 students spent two hours identifying the anatomical parts of a wing: the nerves, muscles, tendons, ligaments and bone marrow.”

I’m drained, it has been a couple of days and I’m still not recovered…I have been to hell and back more times than I care to even count..and I’m not done with my travels there.

On to other shtuff…..I made some cinnamon apple pecan strudel muffins, I had been craving them for a while and decided to make them.

Today I didn’t feel like cooking, so I didn’t, I ordered some egg rolls, egg drop soup and some shrimp fried rice, it hit the spot and I am full…for now. But I am thinking of beer and wings….

This could hit the spot later....

Now I am off to read for a while…the boys and I have vegetated long enough watching Criminal Minds….no more TV for this evening.

We’ve had a family of wild turkeys around the house, for a month or so. The mom and 4 turkettes took up residence and sleep high in one of our trees. The babies follow their mom up the tree and onto a top branch. Then mom gathers the four turkettes under her wings, and they sleep there all night. We’ve watched the turkettes grow from little babies, and we were sad to wake up this morning and find one of the babies had died during the night.

The winds were blowing so hard last night that our windows and were rumbling. I’m guessing that one of the babies was blown out of the tree. The thing is, his neck had been chewed on…I wonder if our cat just couldn’t resist? Or was it some other critter who got hold of him?

So it’s a sad day here at our house. May the little guy rest in peace..

Have you ever met one of your heroes? As a teenager I was a huge Beatles fan. I knew all the songs, all the lyrics. In fact I was so nerdy I could have told you the track order of every single (British version) album they produced between the years of 1962 and 1970. I was an uber-Fab Four geek. The inspiration of their incredible songwriting led me to write and perform songs of my own. Of the four, John Lennon was my biggest hero but I was well aware that all four of them made the band what it was – take any of them away and I do not believe their career would have been quite as successful.

In 1990 the guitarist in my band, Niall, offered me a ticket to see Paul McCartney play at Wembley Arena. This was his first major tour in some time (possibly his first since having ditched the ‘Wings’ format of his ever-changing backing band) and punters were told to expect plenty of Beatles songs. Niall’s brother-in-law was McCartney’s press agent at the time, which meant that we not only had tickets, we had backstage passes (which explains how I met Donald Sutherland backstage at a McCartney gig).

I spent weeks anticipating the fact that I was going to meet one of my childhood heroes. Yes of course I’d have loved for John Lennon to still be alive and to be able to meet him (meet him? I’d have put super-glue on my palm before shaking hands with him in order to get plenty of time to chat to the guy!). What does one say to such an important, if distant, figure in their lives? “Your music changed my life, Paul.” Hmm, bit corny and probably something he’s heard his whole life. “I love you.” Me and several million other people. I couldn’t work out whether there was anything worth saying and decided to just realize how lucky I was to be able to be in the same room as the guy.

As it turned out, even if I’d had a perfect speech planned to harangue the man with, I wouldn’t have been likely to get it out as when he was suddenly stood in front of me (Linda by his side), my tongue stuck itself to the roof of my mouth and it was all I could do to mumble “Hello” as we shook hands. In my defence, as he entered the room he really did bring that superstar presence into the place. This was one of the most famous people in the world and I guess if I was going to be reduced to a speechless buffoon I’d rather it was by a Beatle than by anyone else in the world.

The gig that evening reduced me to tears of joy so many times. ‘Live and Let Die’ was amazing, as were quite a few of his solo classics (even ‘Ebony and Ivory’ took on a poignancy I’d never credited it with before). But it was hearing Beatle’s songs live that brought the tears to my eyes again and again: ‘The Long and Winding Road’, ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Yesterday’ and then the entire medley from the second half of Abbey Road, concluding with ‘The End’, fittingly the last thing his former band ever recorded. By the end of the night I was practically speechless again and I’d realised something. The middle eight of ‘The Long and Winding Road’, which I’d always felt was ‘mine’ as a teenager, do not apply. ‘Many times I’ve been alone and many times I’ve cried’? Actually, despite the many times I had cried in those formative years, I’d never been alone – I could always stick a Beatles album on the turntable and let their songs chase away my loneliness.

A.K.A. Final Fantasy II circa 1991.

MOST.  AWESOME.  GAME.  Ever ….

Anyone who has ever played this game…. SNES, perhaps?… will know what I’m saying. Better than Myst. Better than Nethack (I just keep dying). Better than Sims. Arguments can commence now, but in my experience… FFIV is the most enjoyable game I’ve ever played.

So much so that I’m searching a working SNES console and the original cartridge for FFII. on eBay of course. A few years ago, you could find a SNES for $20. Now, I think it’s going for over $50. A hefty sum for an outdated system.

Anyway, Final Fantasy II or IV (as released on the Nintendo DS with updated graphics) has an amazing storyline with the most memorable characters ever. Remember when Cecil becomes a Paladin? Remember Palom and Parom? Kain? Tellah? Rosa? Rydia? I wanted to name my future child Rydia when I was 7 years old. And of course… the Chocobos.

Oh, yeah… and the music is absolutely phenomenal.

I can’t get into the story because there is too much and to talk about it wouldn’t do it justice. Playing the game, however, would. Just watch this video:

SNES Final Fantasy IV Introduction

Today i have again the great honor to show you one of the fabulous designs of Violator made by soraya Vaher.

To day I recieved a very special one. The “Passage to India” here shown in peacock/orange version in this blog. It is available in 2 more colors. This one is a very aerial piece of high fashion art. The clothing parts only cover what they have to. You will be a sexy but very very classy in a top styled way.

The clothing it self, is made with so much love to the details and colors.
The top covers the chest but gives an awsome view on the shoulders. Nice twirls climbing up your chest to your neck as the would caress you.
The skirt part is dominated by the peackock look. But it is not a fully closed plain skirt..no! It shows much of your well shaped long legs and make them to a totally sexy eyecatcher…
The primparts are another masterpice done by soraya Vaher. Tentacles which we all now from her nearly as a “trademark”, are combined with peacock textured floating “wings”. If you walk they follow totally your movement and give you an awsome fantastic look.
Anyways where you will be…a party, a shooting, a runways show…this is an outift that puts you in the center!!!

Now lets look down further where we will find a sneak preview of the very soon released new shoes of Violator…

I know this doesn’t make any sense, but bunnies and unborn/nonexistant babies have always gone together in my head.

I have recently become obsessed with eating chicken wings. There is large debate where I come from, as to which restaurant us best, Buffalo Wild Wings or Wing Stop. In an attempt to quell this disagreement I have visited both establishments, and have come to a conclusive conclusion.

If you really want to know where your money would be best spent follow me after the break as we discuss the benefits of either wing place.

Buffalo Wild Wings: This place is wild. If you haven’t been before I would definitely recommend it. They always have multiple football games on their large screen plasma TVs as well as games like trivia that customers can play while waiting for their food (Caution, these activities may be habit forming.). Depending on when you go there will probably be a very loud crowd watching the game there, and cheering for their team, but that’s all part of the experience. They have a long list of flavors that all range in varying levels of spicyness. Even the honey barbecue has some kick to it. This is without a doubt the nicer of the two restaurants. When you go in you are seated by a hostess and served by a waiter/waitress.

Wing Stop: I went here on a whim a few nights ago because Qdoba was closed. It’s a totally different experience from BWW. Wing Stop is very much a fast food place. You order your wings at a counter, and pick them up after they are done cooking. There’s not much to say about the environment other than there’s not much to it. There isn’t nearly the selection of flavors that BWWs has, but what they have is pretty good. Don’t expect anything spicy unless you go for a traditional buffalo flavor.

Both restaurants are about the same price as far as wings goes, but there are some exceptions. On Tuesdays and Thursdays at BWW they have half price boned and half price boneless wings respectively. On the other side you don’t have to pay a tip at WS, so that’s probably going to be easier on the pocketbook either way.

In conclusion both places have their merits. I prefer BWWs because of the amount of flavors, and the service you get, but if you’re short on time or money, and don’t mind picking from a limited 6-7 non-spicy flavors Wing Stop is a great alternative.

I did a scratchboard art, and it’s pretty fun. I had the Ampersand clayboard kind, and I used my leftover india black ink by Higgins and coated a black layer on top. And using some sharp tools, I scratched the surface away. If you happen to mess up, you can reapply ink or white gouache, when it’s dried. It’s pretty darn messy, I’d get some newspaper and put it underneath with all the dust that comes off. I copied and printed onto a watercolor paper, but I don’t think the laser inkjet was very good because I lost detail and also it started to turn greyish. :\ Well, I had fun with it anyway. I’ll probably do more scratchboard art when I have time….

Sometimes, I just feel random. And sometimes I feel like persimmons, a fruit usually grown in china and japan, one of my favorite fruits. Moving on, sometimes, I feel like buffalo wings. I dont know. Sometimes, I just do. So if you read all the posts before this one. Comment “Buffalo Wings” on this post. I’ll know.

While waiting for clay to dry,  I got a couple of signs painted for Stanley & Uncle Sam.  People stop and take their photos,  so why not with them?   

Then I got carried away and started making beads.  Then bigger beads…. and a heart.  I’ll show them IF they turn out.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

I added a photo of the Flying Pig I’m  working on.  It’s on the Tutorial Page.  I thought you might want to see her with wings and that tail.  She is gonna be a fat thing.  Not sure what her name is,  but Franny keeps popping up.  Got any ideas/suggestions?  I really like old fashion names, especially two names.  Tomorrow I’ll start gessoing, then painting.  Can’t wait.  She is huge.

There’s an old adage…Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet. Well now that baseball season is over (I wont even get into the discussion about having sushi delivered to your box seats) I just need to say Who’s ready for some Football???

That would be us…and there’s not too many things that go better with football than Beer, Wings, and hot blonds wearing Black & Gold…Yes, Steeler Nation, you know what I’m talking about!
But where in the city can we find this wonderful collection all in one place? We searched out and came across Turtle Bay! Turtle Bay NYC is like a little slice Heaven right here on earth for Steeler Fans…2 floors of beer, babes, bar food, and enough wings to even satisfy Casey Hampton.

As our crew started to roll in for some Monday Night Football, and a quick Wing Fling…I asked our waitress how many wings in an order…she chuckled as she gave me the ‘silly boy’ look and said “as many as you want, they’re 50 cents each” and the order for 50 wings was placed!

The Heavenly platter arrived and we dug right in.
Simply stated…the wings were GOOD…nothing amazing, but they were GOOD. Cooked to the right crispness, decent amount of meat, generous amount of hot sauce keeping with the true buffalo-style (a touch on the buttery side). After a few I did need a Terrible Towel to wipe off my head. The Blue Cheese dare I say was almost too chunky for my liking?…nah…It was thick with real boulders of the wonderful fromage.

I can’t say much except 50 cents that are above par with your typical bar wings makes Happy Pete…Happy.  Not to mention the Steelers won 28-10!

Here’s what the fellow fans had to say:

• Kevin: For typical sports bar wings, not bad. Nothing overwhelming, good or bad. Wings had a good amount of meat, but the taste was just typical of other wings at sports bars. Wouldn’t come back to Turtle Bay just for the wings, but would order them when watching the Steelers kick ass! Overall Score: 7.
• Mike: Good stuff. Very tasty. Just right, not too hot, not too saucy. Overall Score: 7
• Rob: My issue, I ordered the wings plain with sauce on the side, problem was, only 1 sauce available, HOT!!! No BBQ, No Sweet & Sour, No Honey Mustard, only Hot – give me more choices, I’ll be back. Overall Score: 7.
• Shariff summed it up in two words: GO STEELERS! Overall Score: 7.
