Winter music conferences

are numerous & far reaching, from Miami to Shanghai, thats why we prefer to put the Future Music Forum Barcelona a little earlier than the crowd. If you are not familiar with the conference it is loosely based off the the digital music conferences in San Francisco.
As event organisers with a passion for music, Barcelona seemed an ideal spot to launch a conference for the music business online community. After a successful launch in 2010 we have studying vigorously the latest developments & happenings within music technology and how this technology in the future will change how we consume music.

Music conferences

tend to follow the same suit, panel after panels of experienced speakers talking about themselves & how great their particular project is. Everyone seems to have an idea of where the music industry is going but ultimately they are at the same mercy as everybody else, economic climate, investment scarcity, government polices all play a massively important part in how the industry will be shaped.

What we can do, and what we hope our particular music conference will provide is a platform for ideas, a platform for networking & ultimately a platform where new projects can be born. After studying & taking surveys of of where professionals think the music business is going, speaking with schools for music business we have pulled together some of the leaders in this field. Angel Gambino & Dave Kusek have between them many many years of experience in very different aspects of the business, Angel from more a business side, investment & dynamic shrewdness of music consumption has led her to some of the most important positions within some of the grooviest start-ups & music business conferences in the world.

Dave Kusek on the other hand is one of the pioneers of the digital music industry, author of the book, ‘Future Of Music’ and co-developer of the Musical Instrument Digital Interface MIDI, Dave has seen is all when it comes to the world of digital music business and the so called future of music business.

This is just the beginning, from two very special keynote presentations we move onto some more pragmatic & hands on topics, like just how the f**k can I get investment for my business plan.
Our philosophy for exploring the roots of new ideas & supporting music entrepreneurs continues with Bandpage by rootmusic, which is one of the most exciting new developments for the music industry, and with Facebook as its main platform these guys will have a thing or two to say about just how to pitch big money business executives to follow your tune, for more on Chris Wiltsee, check out our speaker page, http://www.futuremusicforum.com/panels/view/15
Both Chris & Angel have an abundance of experience in how to gain angel investment for new ideas , they will be joined by an actually angel investor who has a specific eye on the music industry.

Continuing with the future of music business with a particular eye on the digital aspect we then draw our attention to the music cloud. With Itunes, google, amazon & many more of the big boys turning to the cloud and music streaming we explore the phenomenon with some very interesting speakers coming from very different backgrounds. ABI Research who are experts in music statistics will be on hand to give a cold number crunching viewpoint on the music cloud. Simfy, Germany’s answer to spotify will be covering how they are finding entering the market MXP4, the social gaming experts will also have an interesting viewpoint, again Chris Wiltsee will be on hand to offer his insights. The session will be modified by Mike McCreedy, another of the school of music entrepreneurs that you cannot really call old school or new school, Mike runs Music X ray, http://www.musicxray.com/, which serves as a very necessary tool for connecting artists who don’t have the business know how to connect with the right people within the industry.

We will finish day one off with a very special, yet to be announced, keynote presentation. This one we promise to be a goodie.

Where would we be without the music conference party? , we will be hosting a networking evening on the Thursday night in a beautiful loft style apartment in Poble Nou Barcelona, its here where the real ‘getting to know you’ will be taking place as all conference attendees will be able to relax to some fine tunes, best pica pica Barcelona can provide & some quality wine & beverages.

Now who said all music conferences were the same.

Day Two : coming up.
