There is a killer walking among the residents of Fairview and apparently, he’s not finished.

First Julie was attacked, now Emily, the coffee shop girl, is dead. Could it really be anyone besides one of the Bolens? I think if it were Nick, they’re making it too obvious. I’m guessing another Bolen should be suspected. Nick tells Angie that he was Emily’s last customer. He wants to run again, but she seems to think they have enough luck to get through it. Maybe what they need is a miracle, not luck.

“If someone really wants to get you, they can get you,” says Julie, who is, understandably, super freaked out. She is afraid her attacker is going to follow her if she goes somewhere so she switches cars with Carl. This ends up being a giant problem when Susan sees Julie’s car outside some sleazy motel. She assumes Julie is in their with Nick. She is ready to break down the door until she peaks through the window and sees Bree and Carl.

The ladies go to a self-defense class. Susan chooses to tell Bree that she knows about the affair while she has Bree in a headlock. Bree tells Susan she is willing to stop being friends with Susan if she has to to be with Carl and storms out. Susan has Bree and Carl over to give Bree the “Carl facts.” She really doesn’t seem to care how awful he was to Susan and says she will trust him because she loves him. Loves him? That’s the first time that phrase pops out. Susan gets over her anger really quickly and gives them her blessing.

As a part of Bree and Carl’s plot to get Bree a divorce from Orson, Bree visits a “friend” of Orson’s (a.k.a. flossy’s) from the inside. Bree pays him $600 to come talk to Orson so that he would violate his parole and Bree could blackmail him into a divorce. The convict comes, so we’ll see next week how this plays out.

Danny tells Julie that he knows about the affair between her and his dad. Oddly, he still wants to be with her. She flat-out tells him that’s just weird and it’s never going to happen. Next we see, Danny’s passed out on his bed with an empty bottle of pills. He regains consciousness in the hospital, but wakes up telling Mona, their neighbor/nurse, that his real name is Tyler. Huh?

It’s war between the Scavo’s and Solis’. Carlos keeps trying to push Lynette out by throwing her a goodbye party and moving her office to a supply closet. Gaby and Carlos decide to let up and call a truce just as Lynette’s lawyer serves Carlos papers letting him know Lynette is suing them. Truce is over, war is on. Carlos gives Lynette an impossible assignment to complete in a night and fires her when she doesn’t complete it. She warns him she is not going quietly.

We learn a couple new facts about the Bolen’s tonight, but nothings perfectly pieced together yet. Angie murdered someone. Nick and Angie met with “the others” on November 10th, 1991 and after that night they became invisible for 18 years. Angie has a reason to run, but Nick didn’t have to. Nick called the feds which pisses Angie off because now they know they’re still alive.

Katherine has reached a new level of crazy. First she tells MJ that his mom is a bad person because she stole Mike from her and she’s is not getting any younger and it’s hard to meet men. Okay, that’s a little comical. Mike warns Katherine if she talks to MJ one more time she will “know what he’s capable of.” Katherine makes the mistake of picking up MJ from a birthday party and bringing him to her house. She tells Mike that MJ deserves to know the truth and that Susan is a bad person. Mike retaliates. Really retaliates. He tells Katherine that throughout their whole relationship all he thought about was Susan. Every time they were ever together he was always wishing it was Susan. Holy freakin crap. Katherine hold a knife up to her neck and tells him to kill her, it would hurt less. Of course Mike doesn’t, he leaves. Katherine proceeds to call 911 and stab herself. I don’t know if she wants people to think she attempted suicide and feel sorry for her, or if she is going to try to frame Mike, or what.

Next week promises to be the most explosive episode of the season. It’s the holiday’s – Susan comes up with a plan to help Katherine, Bree and Orson come to an agreement and a plane crashes on Wisteria Lane.

So, I’m on this critical bender these days about social competition and the way it shapes the character of the soccer/yuppie moms in my town.  I’m reflecting a bit on its gnarly temperament – not so much asking the “why” questions, since the climate of our nation dictates it as a temperament most likely resulting from the competitive nature inherent in the economic system under which we operate – but rather asking more the “what” questions, in terms of its disposition in one’s own neighborhood.  When it’s beyond mere snobbery, leaning more toward pursuits more sinister because of the disingenuous nature of the interactions meant to appear genuine, what does it say about us?

What I find most disagreeable about it is when it is so exasperatingly personal, particularly in a neighborhood where mothers are routinely exposed to other mothers who are all in the same boat: raising kids, paying the bills, running our asses off, and trying to keep a semblance of sanity – yet, there’s an overarching sense of disunity. I can’t seem to wrap my head around it. One day you’re in the front yard, and you’re neighbor says hello, but you know there isn’t a stitch of authenticity in either the “hello” or the conversation that ensues, albeit briefly, if you’re lucky enough to engage in one. Meanwhile, her collective of friends are across the street and next door on the other side and down the road, and you know they’re getting together during their occasional pizza nights and Coca-cola (God forbid they drink alcohol!) to rake you over the coals. I know; I’ve been there as a newcomer observing the pack of wolves and the talk is most always about the other women on the street who don’t look like everyone else, or those who like to drink, or, um, have fun. What this really says is, it’s not so much a social competition based on internal factors – How much money we all make or what colleges our kids may one day attend – but rather on external ones – Might she be looking a tad too pretty today? Why doesn’t she dress in t-shirts and baseball caps like the rest of us? Why do her visitors always seem to be having so much fun? Do you think our husbands would want to “do” her? God forbid.

Sure in times past, when a couple of neighbors would sit on a porch together, sipping lemonade and rocking in their chairs as they gossiped about who seemed to be flirting with whose husband, social competition seemed more a nuisance than anything. Today it’s downright menacing. Where, then, it was “known” how others felt because you didn’t fit in, today it serves to undermine your sense of self. Today, it’s that the insincerity of a near entire street transforms a neighbor toward a sketchy sensation of being the outcast, one that’s not blatant or readily apparent, and so the neighbor questions herself, wondering where she went wrong or if she’s even just overly paranoid.
This behavior is not a factor of where we exist on the social strata so much as the mentality within one level of it. If we do live in a relatively upper middle class neighborhood, housing ourselves on a Wisteria Lane expanse of residential roadway, where everyone is on a relatively equal economic par, there always exists that nasty nitpicking that occurs behind closed doors during dinner, at the summer barbeques to which you don’t get invited, or the little child-related activities that get planned to which your children aren’t privy. It’s all rather sick and twisted. Meanwhile, if disaster suddenly struck, what, then, would be the nature of the interactions amongst the street folk? Would their true colors emerge or would they, in fact, be forgiving if you could only provide a little help?

It’s all rather comical, really. It makes me wonder:  Is this the new Desperate Housewife?  Not the one getting into or out of some sort of dilemma with the neighbors, but rather one desperate to carve a niche in which select individuals are invited and others are shunned, if only to make themselves feel . . . well, superior?  If so, this must make me appear more the Edie Britt character and less Bree Van de Kamp.  So I sit on my perch of exile and watch with a half bemused half saddened eye. I often wonder if the alienating pulse of apartment life in the city is better than this weird, sickeningly spiteful approach. What’s more bothersome is having to raise my children amidst this. It’ll be far worse for them, as it’s originated with their mother’s presence. It’s funny, but one of these so-called neighbors actually had the nerve to make this statement when asked, so, “What’s it like when your daughter is finally nearing ten and out of the age of tantrums?” to which she replied, “Well, now it’s all that cliquey behavior, like who is going to hang with us and who isn’t. I don’t know where she gets it from, but I don’t like it.” I almost gagged. Hmmm, where do you THINK she gets it from?

Marc Cherry has confirmed that a plane is going to come crashing down on Desperate Housewives’ Wisteria Lane this season, for the show’s midseason cliffhanger.

And now ABC sources are spilling this cool little nugget of info: The plane might end up being none other than one from Lost’s Oceanic Airlines.

So wait a minute, does that mean that if/when Lost resets this season with an alternate reality (if that hydrogen bomb did actually go off), Jack, Kate, Sawyer and the gang could crash on Wisteria Lane instead of the island?

The plane’s Oceanic branding would just be a fun little Easter egg for Lost fans to find. And while the crossover has yet to be finalized, I’m told the higher-ups at ABC are keen on the idea.

“Everyone loved how well those ‘ABC House’ promos did last year,” one alphabet-net mole tells me, referring to the promo spots in which characters from different ABC series mixed worlds. “We’re looking at ways to find more fun crossovers between shows, and so the idea came up to have the Desperate Housewives plane be Oceanic.”

What do you think of Lost’s mythology filtering into other ABC series? Perhaps Hurley could pay a visit to Modern Family? Smokey’s next victim could be treated at Seattle Grace? Or, oooh, I know: How about Charlie or Penny crossing over to Flash Forward? (Nahhh, that’d be too weird.)

Lo que se ve en el video que encabeza este post, es lo que apareció en el primer corte del capítulo inicial de la sexta temporada de “Desperate Housewives” lanzado el 27 de septiembre. Hace pocos días. Es un aviso anunciando un segmento titulado “Another Desperate Housewife”, ambientado tan “Wisteria Lane”, la calle en el que viven las “Mujeres Desesperadas”,  con un contenido tan parecido y con personajes tan dentro de la edad y el nivel social, que debe haber sorprendido a buena parte de la audiencia. Muchos se deben haber preguntado ¿es una nueva pareja que va a reemplazar a Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan) fallecida en un accidente de auto y a su esposo Dave (Neal McDonough) internado en un hospital siquiátrico? Además, el celular Sprint Palm Pre que ha traído un mensaje que sugiere la infidelidad de la esposa, bien puede apuntar que se trata de una pareja con complicaciones como las otras de la serie. Y no es raro. El comercial —porque evidentemente es un comercial— y los que seguirán en los siete próximos episodios, ha sido cuidadosamente urdido y producido por la misma gente que escribe y dirige la serie. Es más, dentro de algunos capítulos la pareja del comercial, hará una aparición mas o menos sutil dentro de la propia serie. A mi, eso, me parece un “tour de force” que redondea el logro de los objetivos de mantener la audiencia sobre los comerciales ¿los que yo ya creía que solo estaban en comerciales  del Sprint Palm Pre son realmente los nuevos personales de la serie? se preguntarán algunos. El Palm Pre, por cierto, traerá, en las próximas semanas,  noticias de infidelidad, traición y justicia, a la pareja.

No es de sorprender la maestría con la que se está manejando ya esta especie de moderno trampantojo. Los lectores asiduos de este blog (y a los no asiduos los invitamos a usar los enlaces para tener el detalle) han visto, en El futuro de la Agencia de Publicidad (IV). El caso Mindshare, los cambios operados en una agencia de medios que se reestructuró para tener mejores posibilidades de emprender nuevas tareas. Y en “Betty, la Fea” en versión China: “Chou Nu Wu Di”. La obra de Mindshare, los resultados en la forma de resolver la presencia y el uso de ciertas marcas de Unilever de maneras novedosas y de excelentes resultados de audiencia y de ventas, en series de TV en cuya producción estuvieron involucrados desde su concepción. No es de sorprender la maestría, porque se trata de la misma gente: la de Mindshare, que, esta vez, según declara su directora gerente, Denise Ocasio en Ad Age, ha logrado convencer a los directivos de ABC —nuevos en el tema— de que se involucren, totalmente en la manufactura de los comerciales, uno de los guionistas y creador de la serie.

Desperate Housewives – Temporada 6 – Promo con Shakira “She Wolf” El trenzado de los comerciales dentro de una serie, o bien la aparición de personajes “como en la serie” pero en los comerciales de los cortes, es cosa nueva pero es una tendencia creciente en esta nueva temporada de series. En Japón, dice Ad Age los personajes de las principales series llevan ya bastante tiempo apareciendo en los cortes comerciales. Y ahora, en los EE UU, las cadenas de TV están colaborando con los encargados de marketing para cocinar comerciales que incorporan elementos de los programas de manera que el público no sienta que se detiene el entretenimiento y que empieza la venta y la promoción exagerada.

Declara Alison Tarrant, Vicepresidente senior de la cadena CW (el joint venture de CBS y Warner) a cargo de ventas integradas y marketing: “Estamos tratando de hacerlo tan entretenido como sea posible de manera que no abandonen el programa en los bloques comerciales”. Y Stephanie Kelly, Gerente de Medios de Entretenimiento (Entertainment Media Manager) que está embarcada en una aventura similar en NBC dice:” Queremos relacionarnos con los televidentes con las mismas características y  formas con las que se relacionan con su serie favorita”.

Lo que evidentemente se busca con esta técnica es evitar el zapping y pasar las restricciones del TIVO y con ello aumentar el rating de los comerciales pero requiere de mucha coordinación entre el cliente y el medio para que el resultado final sea satisfactorio desde el punto de vista publicitario tanto como desde la estructura misma de la  serie.

Pero es tan evidente que la tendencia está bien plantada que aun que para ABC el caso “Desperate Housewives” es  el primero, en NBC ya se practica de una u otra forma en “Last Comic Standing”, “30 Rock” (con Honda Fit)  y “Heroes” donde en el primer episodio de la temporada actual, había lo que se ha dado en llamar para distinguirlo del usual corte comercial “commercial-brake vignette” (vignette es además de viñeta, la breve y elegante caracterización de una persona en una escena en forma escrita, musical o dramática). En ella aparecía un nuevo personaje de la serie. Algo parecido decía hace poco el NYT en un artículo titulado Hit TV Shows Have Most-Skipped Ads: “la inusual estrategia de publicidad que mezcla el programa y los comerciales, puede explicar la anomalía de “30 Rock” en el rating”. Se refiere a que frente a un promedio de 73% de la audiencia que pasa en fastforward los comerciales, según TIVO (información bastante superior a la que se registra Nielsen) mientras que “30 Rock”, no pasa de 64%, mientras que Mad Men llega al 83%.

Esa misma coordinación de la que hablábamos mas arriba y el hecho de que los comerciales insertados en la trama no pueden sacarse de ahí, implica que exista mayor compromiso entre las partes. Porque el capítulo quedará con el comercial  —¿lo llamamos de una vez “comercial-viñeta”?— para siempre. Una nueva opción que además de mejorar el rating de los comerciales, renueve la manera de acercarse al televidente para dejarle el mensaje de la marca.

Mujeres Desesperadas - 6ª Temporada

It’s true, Drea de Matteo will be the newest housewife on Wisteria Lane. Her character, Angie Bolen is a tough italian woman who will move in our favourite suburb with her husband and son.
I’m really looking forward to see her on Desperate Housewives, after totally loving her act as Joey’s big sister, in the Friends spin-off.

Aunque no son muchas las cosas que se cuentan de “Mujeres desesperadas” en la actualidad, ya que los spoilers generales de la temporada ya los expuesto en el anterior noticia acerca de la serie, al menos ahora tenemos las primeras fotos promocionales de la temporada.

Tengo que decir que se van superando año tras año. Ya me gustaba bastante la foto de la lavandería de la 3º temporada, también la foto del fuego de la 4º temporada tenía su misterio y riesgo, la foto de las seis desesperadas de la 5º temporada vestidas casi todas de blanco fue un poco enigmática, pero en la sexta temporada las vemos transformadas en guerreras. Cada una porta un arma de venganza, y aunque no se ve el titulo que va con la imagen promocional es “Nunca subestimes a una ama de casa”

En cuanto a las novedades de la serie pues principalmente las ya conocidas junto con otras como: Katherine descubrirá que Julie está embarazada; John regresa a Wisteria Lane para cortejar a Ana no a Gaby ya que está en trámites de divorcio; existirá una pelea que incluye como víctima a Julie, recordemos que la hija de Susan vuelve esta temporada; Bree seguirá su aventura con Karl aunque se pondrá celosa de verlo con otras mujeres; Susan se encontrara a un misterioso niño abandonado (Jake) en la calle, este niño será el que descubrirá la aventura de Karl con Bree y se la contará a Susan; Lynette tendrá una caída por las escaleras y pensara que puede perder a l@s gemel@s lo que la asustará bastante!!!

Por ahora eso es más o menos todo lo que nos espera la siguiente temporada. Muchas serán las noticias que saldrán de aquí en adelante pero tendremos que esperar para conocerlas. ¿Qué os parece lo que hay hasta ahora?

Volvemos a tener noticias de una de las series más queridas y que el pasado lunes comenzó el rodaje de su sexta temporada, estoy hablando de “Mujeres desesperadas”.

Hace no mucho tiempo se reveló en exclusiva (gracias a la publicación TvGuide) el nombre del resto de actores que conformarán la familia que llegará en esta temporada a Wisteria Lane. Recordemos que ya sabíamos que la matriarca de la misma sería Drea DeMatteo. Pues bien, ahora hay que sumarle también la incorporación de Jeffrey Nording y Beau Mirchoff.

Aunque no se ha declarado cual será su papel no hace falta especular demasiado para ver que se trata del marido y del hijo de Drea. A Jeffrey lo hemos podido ver anteriormente en la serie “24” o “Dirt” y al joven y casi desconocido Beau, en “The Grudge 3”.

Además de los spoilers calientes que poco a poco comienzan a llegar de la sexta temporada, decir que a partir del día 13 de julio en TVE se podrá ver la reposición de la 2ª, 3ª y 4ª temporada de “Mujeres desesperadas”. La 1 piensa emitir de lunes a jueves a las 23:40 de la noche y aquí os pongo el video promocional que ha lanzado para que todos tengamos un verano desesperado.

Desde de tanto tiempo sin noticias de “Mujeres desesperadas” al fin se han descubierto algunos de los spoilers más interesantes, sobre todo por los fichajes que habrá en la nueva temporada.

La sexta temporada inicia su rodaje ya el 13 de julio por lo que es normal que comiencen a llegar más noticias a partir de ahora.

Primero decir que todavía se desconoce el misterio que los guionistas preparan para esta temporada, lo cual esperemos que suceda ya que la temporada con un misterio que se resuelve al final de la misma me han parecido más interesantes.

Pero vayamos a lo importante, se confirma el fichaje de Drea de Matteo. Muchos la recordareis de “Los Sopranos”. El papel que podría interpretar (según SpoilerTV) es de la matriarca de una nueva familia italiana que llegará este año al barrio de Wisteria Lane. Parece que se está haciendo el casting al resto ya que se busca a un marido neoyorkino de 40 años y un hijo de 19 años que tendrá alguna relación con una de las jóvenes.

También otra gran novedad, o más bien un regreso que nunca debía haberse cumplido anteriormente. En la sexta temporada también es oficial ya el regreso de Julie Mayer (Andrea Bowen) que se marchó en la quinta temporada, aunque vino solo para un episodio. Parece ser que volverá a ser un personaje regular de la serie, algo de lo cual me alegro mucho porque la conexión Susan era bastante interesante. Además también confirmar que Karl, el ex marido de Susan, pasará su tiempo en el barrio ya que saldrá de nuevo en algunos episodios de la nueva temporada continuando su romance con Bree.

Las novedades son muy interesantes, y esperemos que a partir de ahora sigan saliendo muchas más ya que estábamos sedientes de este tipo de informaciones de “Mujeres desesperadas” desde hace ya mucho tiempo…

I rarely discuss my affinity for the denizens of Wisteria Lane, but in the wake of Sunday’s season finale, I think it’s important to re-evaluate my loyalty to this program. Admittedly, this show is absolutely ridiculous. Angela Lansbury saw fewer mystery deaths in Cabot Cove than these characters see in a month! Still, I can’t turn it off. Mostly because I LOVE Karen McClusky and everything she says and does.

Obviously the big story line this season was Edie’s new husband Crazy Dave. I realize, that as the viewer, I am privy to Dave’s private activities that reveal to me, and not to his peers, that he is batshit insane. But come on! He has the devil in his eyes, he rides a beach cruiser around the neighborhood like the Wicked Witch of the West and all of his behavior suggests that he is a total sociopath/serial killer. Obviously though, no one would come to this conclusion until the last 25 minutes of the season, when Dave INSISTS on taking Susan and her wind-up doll of a kid on a fishing trip, so that he can kill the child while Susan watches to punish her for killing his wife/daughter in a car accident five years prior. I will say that I applaud the darkness of this scenario and yet a part of me knows deep inside, that it’s too dark for network prime-time, and so I know too soon that this obnoxious spawn of Susan and Mike Delfino will survive Dave’s plan. (Suggestion: Dave, save yourself the trouble of plotting an untraceable murder, and just open up M.J.’s back and remove the battery.)

Anyway, as we all know, Susan and M.J. survive and Susan and Mike make out. Like, seriously, how many seasons are going to end with us wondering if Mike and Susan are FINALLY going to make it work?

Oh I don’t know, probably about as many times as we have to hear Tom Scavo complain that he failed at life? Or as many times as Carlos and Gaby come in and out of money?Perhaps as many times as Bree and Orson arrive at an ultimatum? Maybe as many times as Carl Mayer sleeps with one of the housewives? Or as many times as a manipulative bitch moves in with a Wisteria family? As many times as Lynette’s been pregnant?  

I could go on, but the point, Marc Cherry, is this: think of a new story line, or this dedicated fan, and her homo-viewing companion are officially, considering, maybe, only watching the season premiere. 

Early figures show about 14 million people watched Mike get married in the “Desperate Housewives” finale, but was his bride Susan or Katherine? The bride’s face was obscured.

Mike and Susan’s son, MJ, was spared when Dave threw him out of the car before crashing it into the car Mike was driving. Susan saw the whole thing and she and Mike shared a hot kiss afterward.

Meanwhile, Lynette finds out she’s pregnant with twins and Gabby and Carlos take in a relative’s teenage daughter who turns out to be a tease who uses guys to do and buy things for her.

Finally, Bree ends up kissing her sleazy attorney, Susan’s ex-husband, even while she tries to divorce Orson.

One of the highlights of the Universal Studios tour is surely the set of the fabled Desperate Housewives.  Here, set designers have recreated a microcosm of American suburbia on steriods with its ensemble cast of zany characters including Terry Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Van de Camp, Eva Longoria Parker as Gabrielle Solis, Nicollete Sheridan as Edie Williams, and others.  Do you recognize any of the houses here?

Hartford Courant, Suffield’s Wisteria Lane Has No Desperate Housewives

Living on a street made famous by a TV show must be fun.  I’ve actually been to Waverly Place in Manhattan once, and I have to say, it looks nothing like the street of Disney Channel fame (Wizards of Waverly Place, anyone?  No?  I have a little sister, okay?). 

But the best would be if there was a real Sesame Street.  Asking for directions would be hilarious.  “‘Can you tell me how to get…how to get to Sesame Street?’”  Hehe.

Il successo di Sex and the City è riscontrabile anche nel numero di “imitatori” della serie. Il più importante è sicuramente “Desperate Housewives”, un telefilm creato da Marc Cherry e trasmesso dalla ABC a partire dal 2004. Anche in questo caso le protagoniste sono 4 donne alle prese con i propri drammi sentimentali. Ma non si tratta più di single scatenate, bensì di casalinghe disperate!

Quasi tutte sposate e con dei figli, le Desperate Housewives vivono a Wisteria Lane, una strada dell’immaginaria Fairview, cittadina che rappresenta la visione stereotipata dei sobborghi americani. Elementi distintivi di questi ultimi sono, infatti, file di case confortevoli, staccionate bianche e prati curati con precisione. Ma questa perfezione esteriore serve solo a celare i più oscuri segreti familiari, tenuti abilmente nascosti tra le mura domestiche. Questo fino a quando non si intromette…un vicino! Ebbene si, in una zona residenziale come quella di Wisteria Lane tutti, prima o poi, sanno tutto di tutti! E, specialmente per le casalinghe, spiare il proprio prossimo diventa un hobby. Una bella differenza con le strade affollate di Manhattan, dove nessuno sembra curarsi di chi gli sta accanto.

Wisteria Lane: riproduzione in 3D realizzata per il videogioco

La particolarità di questa serie tv sta nella sua capacità di integrare generi molto diversi tra loro. All’apparenza una commedia rosa stile SATC, rivela, infatti, un’elevata componente di drammaticità tipica dei film gialli. Il sottotitolo italiano “I segreti di Wisteria Lane” sottolinea la presenza di misteri da risolvere. Questi sono spesso legati all’arrivo di nuovi vicini con un passato oscuro che viene svelato solo alla fine della stagione. Lo spettatore si trova, in alcuni casi, in una situazione di vantaggio rispetto ai personaggi, in quanto viene aiutato dalla voce narrante di Mary Alice Young; una delle casalinghe di Fairview che nella prima puntata si toglie la vita, lasciando alle sue amiche l’arduo compito di scoprirne il motivo.

La costruzione del telefilm risulta molto ben articolata non solo riguardo alla trama, ma anche riguardo alla messa in scena. Ogni inquadratura è costituita da una composizione di forme e colori sapientemente elaborata, rivelando una spiccata attenzione per i particolari. A partire dagli elementi che compongono la scena è possibile cogliere numerose metafore. Già nella sigla di apertura vediamo le 4 protagoniste tenere in mano una mela caduta da un albero con un serpente, simbolo del peccato originale. Questo metodo di dialogo silenzioso con il pubblico viene messo in evidenza anche nei promo delle varie stagioni, molto seducenti e accattivanti.

Pur condividendo alcuni temi con SATC, Desperate Housewives propone quindi un genere totalmente nuovo, a mio parere molto brillante e intelligente.

Fox News blogger fired over Wolverine review?

Piracy can get you into a lot of trouble. Reviewing a pirated copy of a film can get you fired. Fox News entertainment blogger Roger Friedman did just that and now he is no longer working at his former job. The outcry from other bloggers and the fan community is even worse than the I-don’t-care-about-the-Watchmen-press-embargo review by Matt Selman (we reported on that here).

“RopeofSilicon.com, which posted a screen grab of Friedman’s item, echoed the sentiments of many bloggers when it wrote: ‘Where does FoxNews.com come up with the balls to publish a review of an unfinished illegal copy of a film their sister company is so desperately trying to squelch the existence of?’”

New Avatar tagline revealed:

At the Opening Day Luncheon for ShoWest, which was sponsored by IMAX, the 3D theater group unfortunately didn’t show any footage from James Cameron’s latest project, but at least gave us a new tagline for the anticipated film:

“An All New World Awaits”

Avatar tells the story of an ex-Marine, thrust unwillingly into an effort to settle and exploit an exotic planet rich in bio-diversity, who eventually crosses over to lead the indigenous race in a battle for survival.

Cameron’s sci-fi action-adventure opens December 18 and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Peter Mensah, Laz Alonso, Wes Studi, Stephen Lang and Matt Gerald.

The first trailer and maybe a teaser poster is expected to hit theaters with the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in May.

Oh no, Uwe Boll gets to do another one:

The latest project by THE man that should never ever be allowed to make another film, not even a 2 minute one, will be back with yet another project, blaspheming our theater screens. The waste of celluloid is called Janjaweed and Boll’s latest victims include: Edward Furlong, Billy Zane and Kristanna Loken.

Lucy Lawless to star in Spartacus:

The Xena team is back with a new project. According to Variety Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi are masterminding their new project Spartacus, with Tapert’s wife Lucy Lawless signed on as the proprietor of a camp for gladiators in the new series. Australian actor Andy Whitfield will play the title role. The project, which goes into production in April, is set to premiere in January 2010.

A Hero dies this season:

Before the season is over Sylar will kill a hero that has been on the show from season one. And this one won’t return. Ausiello writes:

“Sylar kills a regular Hero that’s been on the show since Season 1. And it sticks.”

Susan’s exes congregate on Wisteria Lane:

First we hear from Ausiello that Jackson will be back. Gale Harold returns to Desperate Housewives after his accident for the May 3 episode. Seems like all of Susan’s exes will return for the last few episodes this season. Ausiello hints at:

“All I’ll say is the redhead in question will start spending a lot of time with one of Susan’s exes. Hint: He’s the one you go to when you want a divorce, not when you want your toilet fixed.”

Si en el anterior post hablaba de los momentos previos a una esperada visita, tras haberla hecho, me dejo de reflexiones sobre cine independiente y simplemente me limito a pronunciar una palabra muy básica sobre el hecho en sí: mola.

Natalia, la persona encargada de explicarnos todo el tema de los servicios de producción de los Estudios Universal para los rodajes que aquí en L.A. denominan independientes, fue simplemente encantadora con nosotros. Ya quisiéramos que algunas empresas patrias, por ejemplo en mi ciudad, fueran la mitad de amables de lo que han sido aquí. Porque se puede uno imaginar la pinta que tenemos Miki y yo como clientes potenciales. Vamos, unos mindundis incluso en el ámbito independiente.

Y, sin embargo, el recorrido en carrito de golf por los escenarios de un montón de películas o series conocidas fue extenso y alejado del rollo del parque temático que convive con las instalaciones productivas. Visitamos el interior de un Saloon, aterrizamos frente a una de las casas de “Hancock”, atravesamos la carretera apocalíptica de “La Guerra de los Mundos”, cruzamos alguna de las calles de “Piratas del Caribe”, y no pudimos entrar en la de Wisteria Lane por haber gente trabajando, ni pasear por la plaza de “Regreso al Futuro”, ya que está en construcción tras un aparatoso incendio.

Pero alejados de los escenarios reconocibles, deambulamos por la organizada nave de tres plantas de material de atrezzo, los almacenes de material eléctrico, los de maquinaria de rodaje y los talleres de construcción de decorados. Terminamos asistiendo al rodaje de una escena de “Entre Fantasmas” y hablando sobre mil cosas, hasta ponerle la cabeza como un bombo a la gente de servicios de producción. Gente cercana, que, lógicamente, te ofrecen sus servicios. Sabemos que cerca de esas oficinas -pero a un abismo de distancia estructural- habrá quién valore proyectos, lea guiones, vea películas, haga castings y cierre papeles. Y puede que eso sea lo que buscamos ingenuamente en la meca del cine, pero durante ese rato no nos importó nada de eso,  porque allí claramente alguien estaba hablándonos como colegas del medio. Pequeños colegas en este caso, coleguillas si se quiere.

Se acercan los Oscar. y aunque este año no venimos con ningún encargo para la tele, el fenómeno Pe nos rozará algo.
