The shirt is actually made out of cotton; its flowery lace design seems like something straight out of a summer music festival lookbook. I loved the shoulder detail and the boldness of the individual flowers so much that I bought the tank top without even trying it on! Thank goodness it fit.

If you look at the shirt from far away, it looks very sturdy, almost like an oversized doily. When you take a closer look at it, you see some very fine details, including the little circles of cloth that make up the flowers on the top portion of the tank top. These delicate features went really well with my golden chain bracelet and pearl flower ring because both these accessories also have some painstaking details that are easy to miss–take, for example, the individual stones embedded into the flower petals of my ring.

I paired my tank with a beige maxi skirt and a nude tanktop, giving my overall look the illusion that I’m actually wearing a maxi dress. The material of the skirt is heavy and soft but incredibly flowy, and whenever I take a step forward it hugs the shape of my thighs in a flattering way. One of my constant sources of inspiration for fashion is art history, in particular the Grecians’ Late Classical and Hellenistic periods.

From this sculpture of the goddess of victory, Nike, which is housed in the Louvre in Paris, you can see the way the material of her dress hugs her body. The cloth hugs her form, creating shadows and creasing in ways that accentuate the curves of her body. It is precisely this kind of cloth that I love and hope to experiment with someday when I learn to make my own clothes.

Because of our upcoming trip to Bangkok, my sister and I are trying not to buy clothes, which led to me to hesitate on the purchase of this skirt. It’s gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but it’s so short, I can’t sit down without using something to cover my lap; yes, it’s that bad. And yes, I still bought it lol.

I love finding vintage button-ups. They just fit so well, drape just right. Maybe it’s because they’ve had decades to find their most perfect shape. I think know I own too many, but I can’t help myself. I have a problem. It’s been realized.

I know I haven’t posted anything for a while, but I was mega busy and also had a few technical hitches which (hopefully) should be sorted out now!

So… On with today’s update!

IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY ON SATURDAAAYY!

The celebrations started on Friday when I went out for food with my best friend Samantha, the boyfriend, my brother, my dad and mys stepmum. We had amazing Japanese food and talked far too much!

Saturday morning saw me and Samantha up early to watch some Aquabats and get ready for a busy day organising my party! We went for food at Primo’s hotdog joint in the Corn Exchange in Leeds (a wonderful shopping spot, containing some real independent gems such as Candy Candy, Mad Elizabeth and much more!) This particular Saturday, The Corn Exchange was playing host to one of Leeds’ main vintage shopping fairs, Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair. We had a browse and I bought myself a super kitsch glow in the dark retro toy!

The rest of the day was spent shopping for things for my fancy dress party! We buzzed around town, found a costume for Samantha, bought far too much kids party food and even found time to go home and drink some tea and do our makeup! I tried my hand at some green makeup on Samantha to go with her crocodile costume!

I used Illamasqua eyeshadows to create both the eye look and lip look, I didn’t really have a plan and just got creative! I’m super pleased with how it came out!

The party was held at Mrs Athas and everyone made a real effort with their costumes! It was so lovely to see everyone there to celebrate with me! I dressed as my favourite film character, Enid, from Ghost World! Here are some highlights..

The next morning, me and the boyfriend headed to London for a couple of days!! I decided to have myself a Disney outfit weekend and started with this little number…

My playsuit is vintage and from Pop Boutique, I have had the shirt for years and years (It was bought in Disneyland Florida when I was 6!!!), the vampire necklace was a Primark find and my docs are vintage too! Most of my makeup is Illamasqua, as usual!

We checked into The Hoxton Hotel to discover we had been given the Cabin room!!! The Hoxton has designer rooms on it’s top floor which are all styled and themed differently. I had always wanted to stay in the cabin room! It has a giant bed, a shower in the middle of the room and lots of lovely details in the soft furnishings! They provide design books for you to browse and you even get a free Pret breakfast in the morning! Check out their website for more information!

After this we headed to Somerset House to check out ‘Pick Me Up‘, a graphic design exhibition. We were lucky to catch it as it was the last day! We wandered around gazing at some beautiful work, my favourite was Rob Flowers’ Japanese inspired monsters and prints! I also bought a cute eyeball brooch and an eyeball print! (which I will show you all once I get a frame for it!)

The next day was spent SHOPPING MY SOCKS OFF!!!! I had already planned to stop off at Lazy Oaf and Johnny Cupcakes but we also hit up Uniqlo and Topshop! I wore my second Disney themed outfit of the trip too! Just take a look!

The dress was on sale at Topshop! I wore a vintage Mickey crew neck over the top which I customised myself and turned into a crop top, I also wore my new necklace by Sugar and Vice that my wonderful friend Charli got me for my birthday!

I bought: the Lazy Oaf slime tee I had been lusting after, a little Lazy Oaf skeleton pin, some banana print leggings from Topshop, a Johnny Cupcakes breakfast tee (in the box!), a book about Nintendo, Lulu Guinness cat face tee, Leopard jeans and My Melody tee from Uniqlo and also pictured are the badge and (rolled up) print i bought at Pick Me Up!

Overall it was a super busy and fun weekend! Over the next few days you’ll probably see me uploading outfit posts of all my new things!!

Thought i’d do a ‘look inside my wardrobe’ post today as i went and bought something the other day, a very elaborate playsuit. I rarely buy things like this from Topshop or similar unless I have a very special event to attend as it is a lot of money to spend on one outfit, but this. i couldn’t resist. you know when you try things on in the fitting rooms because it’s gorgeous but you have no real intention of buying it, you just want to see what you look like? well this, i just couldn’t say no. Behold.

Sorry for the poor picture quality and my bra cheekily poking out but i had to get a photo of the back, this gorgeous cut out triangle shows just the right amount of skin, and i absolutely love the decadent, oriental style of the playsuit. I find that the black piping along the sleeves and collar gives it such a grown up feel – important when you’re as short and baby faced as myself. The watch is an urban outfitters sale bargain, and the initial necklace also from Topshop. I rarely buy playsuit as i find them to be so troublesome and not really worth the effort, but i just fell in love with this. the gathering at the waist also suck you in and hides your tummy. worn with black heeled chelsea boots.

Isn’t it amazing how a peter pan collar can make you look instantly sweet?  It is just the right touch on this Kate Young x Target day dress.  Girly flowers, puckered fabric and a peter pan collar.  Perfect attire for a tea party.  I toughened up the look with my favorite boots and some graphic sunglasses.  I can’t handle being too precious.

I’ve been much, much happier in the past week. The really dark and depressing eventuality we thought my grandfather was facing seems to be diminishing – he will no longer have to undergo amputation of his leg and he’s home now, comfortable, safe, clean and in a much better mood.

For all those of you dears who have been praying for him and offering me so much support, thank you so much – you have no idea how much it means to me and how much I appreciate it

Day-to-day, things have been normal – haven’t been out much at all between spending time with my grand dad, family (they were back in town for a bit) and staying home to play with Benjy as much as I can before we fly off to Italy.

The weather’s been terrible for me and perfect for my laundry -_- aka sweltering, even by Singaporean standards.

One good thing that’s come out of it? I’ve been shedding the cardigans and taking out all my strapless, or sleeveless summer dresses!

Last week’s obsession – lace and white, swirly, whirly, girly dresses with simple make.

Despite the dress being too big, I really love the cut-out details and the lace patterns on front – I’ll be bringing this dress with me to Venice! Wish it didn’t crumple so easily too – luckily, we’ll be staying in an apartment for most of the trip so there will be an iron or at least housekeeping handy.

Hot weather = Cold Refreshing Food !

I’ve put about 2 kg on recently just rampantly eating whatever I want – and so I’ll need to put myself back on a diet until I fly off

Here’s one of my go-tos when the hunger pangs hit:

I fill my adorable pastel pink and blue ramekins with country-style thick, creamy smooth vanilla yoghurt and top it off with handfuls of berries ! So yummy and super low fat too!

We did not make reservations in advance as we thought it wouldn’t be that bad if we call early like in the late afternoon or something but WE WERE WRONG! People, please horr, please do or remember to make reservations if you would wish to dine out on a public holiday. #Nojoke! Hub’s initial plan is to bring me to Cafe2000 at M Hotel as we’ve heard and read about the good reviews on their good. We only got to know it’s already fully booked few days back after we call. So we research around, called up a few, we got all the same reply “Sorry, we are fully booked today.” /Faints. We were disappointed thinking we wouldn’t get a place anywhere today but at last we found Edge at Pan Pacific!! 

So we wasted no time, rushed down in case we are late and started tucking in and to our satisfaction, the food was good. In fact all was yummeh and I enjoyed the dinner very much. It’s not just the food but also the joy, laughter and chats we had during dinner. ♥♥ Home after to pick Bbygirl up from Twinnie & Sj as they brought her over to their Grandma’s place to play before we headed to boleh land together.

Thank u Hub’s, for the great evening of smile, laughter & food over dinner. Happy dating anniversary (like u said, “the 3rd!”) hee I love youuuuuuuu! /Xoxo.

As a DIY enthusiast, it is unfortunate that I don’t enjoy hand sewing at all. I’m constantly doing clothing projects that require hemming. I don’t know about you but I get easily frustrated when it comes to hemming pants and skirts.

So I’m sharing my lazy secret with you all: hemming tape! It’s inexpensive, easy to use, and will last just as long as hand sewn seams.

Again, I picked up this hemming tape from R.J. McCarthy’s but you can also buy  it from any craft store (such as Michael’s) or Walmart.

When deciding my outfit this morning, the norm is to step out, check out the weather and then look in your wardrobe.

Lace and Mesh seemed to be what my mind was set on and this Ivory white dress I cut up was something I’ve wanted to rock for a while. I’ve only ever worn this once to a wedding, which is a shame; its such a dainty little number!

For the wedding I dressed it with flat pumps and a clutch; walking in heels was an issue for me back then.

Today, I dressed her up with a lace paneled  blazer which I got from a thrift store right by where I live.

I know its a JC Lita overkill, but guys when I moved homes I was so annoyed I had all these shoes and they were so useless, I got rid of them and kept the ones that don’t bite my feet off. Hence, the Lita take over on almost all the blog posts.

Graffiti is a pretty controversial topic. Some fight tooth and nail to get it off the streets, while others plunge into the hours of darkness to make sure they can leave their message through creating it. I personally waver in between those two parties. While I believe some graffiti is unnecessary, and is only created to defy the cleanliness and structure of order (or replace it with their own sense of order), other graffiti seeks to draw attention to important topics, things that we don’t normally think about but really should.

Besides all the controversy, though, I believe graffiti can be an art form. Very modern, very abstract, graffiti can be visually aesthetic and thought-provokingly powerful. It catches your eye and makes you wonder, “What is that? Or what does it mean?” (Or alternatively, “What the *insert choice word* were they thinking?”)  Graffiti is in-your-face, bold, loud meaning. Which is what I kept in mind when I chose what to wear on my trip through the streets.

A Supreme shirt and some rebellious bracelets were the no-brainers in my outfit. Supreme is just one of those clothing companies that scream street culture, and it’s no surprise, since it started in New York as a skatewear clothing shop. Since then, it’s grown to become a huge, sell-out-in-seconds brand synonymous with cool streetwear. My black leather bracelet with studs is one of my favorites, since it’s just the right amount of edgy, but still classic enough to wear with almost anything. I balanced it out with my black shorts. The other bracelets I wore to even out the large amount of white on my shirt. And the olive anorak and brown belt just offset the black and white in my outfit.

This photoshoot has been my favorite so far in working on my blog, probably because it’s my environment that brings the photos alive. The graffiti that I found and stared at for hours made me realize that beauty can be found in the strangest places and in the strangest ways. Normally, the word “graffiti” is associated with negative connotations. It makes you think of words like “ghetto,” “dirty,” “gangsters,” “dangerous,” “messy”…But these associations are not always correct.

It’s important for us to break away from these sorts of stereotypes. Not just the ones about graffiti, but about everything we look at and judge. Don’t confine yourself to what others tell you to believe. Find your own meanings and explanations about the world around you, the people you know, the person you are. And just like the graffiti artists, show and display the meanings you have found–that isn’t to say, of course, to go out and tag everything you see!

I guess what I’m trying to say is that there are plenty of reasons to find the negatives in the things around us. It’s often easier to point out what is ugly and wrong with something than it is to highlight the beautiful aspects of any given thing. And this holds truest for ourselves. It’s easy to look into that mirror and throw out some negative associations with your appearance: “tired,” “too round,” “lined,” “ugly.” But you need to realize that there is so much more beauty and value to you than you think. If you ever forget that, just wander the streets of LA, and let the graffiti remind you. What may seem at first to be a blemish on the “perfection” of buildings and walls is actually something quite remarkable, beautiful, and meaningful.

My addiction to black and white. It’s Monday Blues with absolute no motivation thinking about wardrobe. Tossed on my favorite oversized sheer boyfriend shirt and a pair of comfy legging. Now I’m ready to head to work.

I went quite casual and just threw this on in about 10 minutes. I hate trying to put together outfits. So stressful

This is also a big day for my hair. Wait for It…..Its the first time EVER that I’ve attempted to curl my own mass of hair (BIG NEWS). Ermmm it went ok but kinda looks like a bush. This did take me about 20 minutes so maybe if I take a little more time doing it, it will come out better. Now I know I can do it though, I’ll definitely be doing it again. I love having curly hair but have never bothered because I always thought its going to take hours! Being so heavy though, it has dropped quite a lot.
