This time I will discuss about some popular Instant Messenger. Two of these are Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live Messenger (WLM). They have the capabilities, features, and unique ways. And that is why I will discuss in this review.

WLW or better known as Windows Live Messenger or MSN Instant Messenger is a clear view and like Vista. Its use is very easy, you only need to sign up to be one member of MSN or Hotmail or XBOX. View WLW no longer open to question because it seems so professional and beautiful. You can also access some unique features such as writing using the pen, it became one of the advantages of Windows Live Messenger. WLW can be downloaded for free via http://www.download.live.com. In the installation, you are also allowed to download some freeware from Microsoft such as Outlook and Silverlight. Downloads will be quick, but different from installing. In instalasai you need an Internet connection to make installation of speed with speed depending on your Internet connection. After installation is complete, a WLW window will appear and you can start chatting with your relatives! Of course, making an excess of IM requires its competitors, YM using the Chat Room, Send Message (to the registered mobile phone), call the PC, and call home or a place with reasonable prices. Chat Room makes people can gather and discuss each topic are available. Previously, you are required to memverifiskasi said that you listed are not a spammer. In sending messages, only a few mobile operators who registered just allow you to send messages for free, the rest of you are not allowed to send a message. Call to a PC can be used only to users of e-mail Yahoo! and free tentunya.Menelpon to specific locations that could cost you specify later. YM overall worth to you who love to communicate with relatives offline.

Okay, so here I am, working in Microsoft Word.

That’s right, you read me right. I’m not working in Windows Live Writer, I’m working in MS Word. And I’m posting to my blog right from Word.

I kid you not. This is one of the features of Word. I had no idea. It’s “teh awesome” as the kidz say now.

I guess it’s been a while since I did anything with a seriously current version of Word, but I have to tell you this is pretty amazing. I can get all the powerful editing features of MS Word, like its grammar check utility, its spell checker, the formatting options … and yet, I can post directly to the blog of my choice from a variety of providers. I can manage my blog accounts, insert categories, and insert pictures and other items just as with other Word documents. And it will post directly to my blog when I’m finished with the nifty little “Publish” button.

Pretty cool, no?

Now, there are other things I can see it won’t do. Such things as insert tags, or do the auto-linking which is such an integral part of my love for Windows Live Writer. But for those of us who love to post fiction and poetry on our blogs, using a late-model version of Word so you can have the editing power of a full-featured word processor and some of the capabilities of a blogging desktop client.

Pretty doggone sweet.

This isn’t going to replace WLW for me by any stretch of the imagination. Not a prayer. I have too many other things in WLW I’ve come to depend on for me to want to do that, and Word makes me work a lot harder after hitting the publishing button to get things right. But it’s a pretty cool way to get a blog post done, and if you’re someone who’s wanted the capabilities of a word processing software package to do your blogging, this might be the real deal.

Just another cool toy to play with, so I figured I’d give you all a shout-out about it.

Good news for the active blog users who have limited Internet connection! The largest software company, Microsoft, has released a new weapon that is Windows Live Writer (WLW) in the latest version of the blogging market. In this version you will be taken to the spectacular display that is easy to use because the density of a given menu.

Windows Live Writer is the latest version provided free of charge which can be downloaded for free directly through the official website: http://get.live.com/writer/overview

In Windows Live Writer, you are required to register or to add your blog account in order to accelerate the publication process of posting.

Windows Live Writer features full accordance with the Blog Service / Provider that you use. If you’re using WordPress.com, then the plugin ‘Split Post’ is to be installed, but if you use Blogspot.com then this plugin will be lost replaced with other plugins.

You can set all the categories you have created (or will be made) and time to publish. But for plugin ‘Publishing Date’, you must have an Internet connection at the publication time which it was classified as hard for you who have limited Internet connections.

Honestly I often use Windows Live Writer application on my blogs before and also my post this time. I hope you are satisfied with my WLW review!

É Hoje implementei um sistema de postagens múltiplas em meu site.

A algum tempo baixei um tal de Windows Live Writer mais até ontem não tinha me preocupado em saber pra que servia.

Lendo notícias em sites como sempre faço, descobri que poderia ser possível postar notícias no Joomla utilizando esta ferramenta da Microsoft. Mais que isso, seria possível postar em múltiplos sites e blogs simultaneamente, economizado muito tempo.

Esse sistema utiliza o XML-RPC que faz a ligação do editor com o Joomla ou outros tipos de blogs.

O plug-in que estou utilizando chama-se XML-RPC – metaWeblog API, infelizmente este plug-in conta com 1 bug na parte de configuração de hora de postagens relacionada à dateTime.iso8601 que faz com que a data de postagem do artigo apareça no Joomla com 3 horas de diferença, ou seja, ainda não descobri como fazer o plug-in entender o fuso-horário gmt-3 que é o horário brasileiro.

O Sistema de múltiplas postagens está funcionando normalmente, o único trabalho adicional que tenho é acessar a administração do site e mudar o horário em 3 horas ^^

Utilizarei o Windows Live Writer para postar minhas notícias. Essas Notícias poderão ser acompanhadas em 3 sites distintos porém com o mesmo conteúdo. São eles:

YES!  I am voluntarily going on a road trip visiting baseball parks and the NFL Hall of Fame.  I mention my intentions for my vacation to many with an overwhelming response ” why not the beach?”  Because as my readers know, I LOVE SPORTS.  Any chance I get to enhance my sports experience, knowledge or actuality, I WILL.  Plus,  I am more into beer than I am bathing suits right now . . .

FIRST STOP:  Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati OH – Courtesy of Mo Egger, of WLW & WCKY radio in Cincy, you can check him out at http://1530homer.com/pages/mo.html, where you can enjoy the Cincinnati sports rhetoric and the insightful female  commentary to this statement “August 31st, 2009, when the Reds played the Pirates in front of maybe 1,500 people.”  My husband, Jason, and I were at the afternoon game today and there were BARELY that many people at the park and the “paid attendance” was 11,516 – I thought to myself, who in the heck are you trying to impress?   Seriously?  Besides that weird calculation, there were many fabulous, and several funny, things about our trip to Cincy this far.  Including:

WOOHOO!  You can buy beer in a coinvienence store . . .

Okay, you got me, that wasn’t the first thing I realized, but it was VERY high up on the priority list . . .

Pittsburgh 6AM – First stop 9:30AM – While you are driving from Pittsburgh to Cincinnati, you don’t realize how southern you are getting.  We stopped about 30 miles outside of Cincy at a Mickey Ds (Jeffersontown?) - cause its the ONLY recognizable stop for a good 80 mile stretch – and the accent was crazy!    One of the workers was shouting over and over again- CAN WE GET FRESH EGGS WITH THAT BIG BREAKFAST? in an insane southern accent – just stop and say that to yourself several times . . . crazy.

Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park is gorgeous – the only thing I didn’t like is that you can’t see the field from the entire concourse.

As we got in the ball park after sneaking a quick chugging of a couple miller lites – you never want to take chances in visiting ball parks with drinking in public – just fyi . . . we bought a couple of beers  – 16 oz plastics at $7.50 a piece . . . so we were paying a buck fifty each beer pair more than we do at PNC PArk in Pittsburgh – but guess what?  We don’t care, we are on VACATION!!!

Then, we turn around the corner and find a BAR.  A real live bar where you can order SHOTS. Yes, shots . . . so Jason and I did some tequila.  Who wants to hear my joke?  Okay, you do . . .

Why did the husband throw his wife over the bridge? 

TEQUILA!!!  Get it?  I hope so . . .

Anyway, here are a few more observations on our trip so far:

LOVE the highlight zone with 13 flat screen TVs – although only 4 were ON while we were there . . . 

Weird, random, female fan overdosed on tanning and had an accordian skin two rows in front of us . . . gross.

Loved the Skyline Chili Dogs – got a FREE dog and just LOVED the dish . . . Big ’n Rich weren’t lyin . . .

Met a few extra cool fans – including the newly 21 year olds, Kelly & Ben  . . . both them and their parents were FAB!

The Police Officers were also top notch, including Officers, Jodice & Brehm . . . picture coming soon!

И так, что же появилось нового во второй версии WLW?!

Во-первых, несколько изменился интерфейс программы. Хотя самую малость, но всё же. Теперь внизу можно наблюдать вкладки для перехода в различные режимы: Редактирование, Просмотр и Исходный код. Настройки самого поста в принципе остались те же: Категории, Теги, Дата и т.д.

Во-вторых, появилась возможность вставки фотоальбома. Хотя лично мне эта функция не нужна. Но для кого-то по-видимому востребована.

В-третьих, самые большие изменения – это изменения в настройке изображений. А именно:

• Обтекание текстом: появилась возможность центрировать изображение, чего раньше не было и приходилось это делать при помощи html кода.
• Границы: добавлены новые виды границы изображения: Мнгновенная фотография, Отражение, Скруглённые углы, Сплошной 1 пиксел и Сплошной 3 пиксела. Поэтому теперь офрмлять картинки стало намного удобнее.
• Действия: появились такие действия как Наклон, Обрезание и Водяной знак. Мне особенно понравилась фишка с водянм знаком.
• Эффекты: куда же без них. Тоже интересные добавления: Цвет в стиле поп-арт, Резкость, Гауссовское размытие и Приподнятый.

Вообщем-то это основные изменения. Есть конечно ещё какие-то изменения в управлением блогами, но в принципе, они не значительные, поэтому на этом я и остановлюсь.

Всем рекомендую воспользоваться этой программой, поскольку постинг с ней реально удобней и быстрей.

There are various ways of displaying code in a blog entry. Some authors insert images which enable them to ensure that the code is readable and in the required format, however the code can’t then be as easily viewed inside some feed readers, and the text is not searchable or easy to copy/paste. Alternatively an author can just type the text in and use indentation and font styles to distinguish it from the body of the text. By far the best solution however is use a Code Highlighter of some sort that will render the code into a readable format with additional benefits of copy to clipboard, line numbers and colour coding. One popular tool for this job is Syntax Highlighter by Alex Gorbatchev. This uses JavaScript to render the code on the client in a very readable format (see below). It integrates well with the WordPress blog engine and there are several Windows Live Writer Plug-ins for it making it easy to add code snippets to your posts.

Having decided on using Syntax Highlighter for my blog I hit a problem. I’m hosting on WordPress.com and therefore do not have the access required to add it to my site. I found a lot of posts on the web discussing how to integrate it with WordPress but these are for self hosted WordPress.org blogs. Eventually however, to much delight, I found that the WordPress.com developers themselves have already integrated Syntax Highlighter. There is a list of supported languages and details on how to use it here. To activate it you just add a wrap your code inside special tags. Excellent!

Writing a Windows Live Writer Plug-in (Part One)

My next thought though was that I needed to integrate into Windows Live Writer via a plug-in. I couldn’t find a WordPress.com specific plug-in so I fired up MSDN and looked at coding one. All the information you need is on MSDN here. 

There are two types of plugins. Simple and Smart. As I just needed to add a block of code text surrounded by special tags I figured I would implement the simple type. Simple’s good! Right?

To start with I needed to create a new class library project, reference the Live Writer API (windowslive.writer.api.dll), and add a new class which derived from ‘ContentSource’ and has a ‘InsertableContentSourceAttribute’ attribute.

Next override the CreateContent method on the base class. This is the method that gets called when the user clicks to activate our plug-in to insert some content. It returns a DialogResult and has a string parameter passed by-reference called ‘newContent’. This string parameter is how you set the text to be inserted into the blog post.  In the code example shown below I am displaying a form for the user to enter the code block to insert. The form adds the required WordPress.com wrapper text and then the ‘newContent’ string is set to be the whole text content (code plus wrapper text):

In addition to overriding the CreateContent method the WriterPluginAttribute needs to be set on the class. This basically provides Live Writer with information about your plug-in. For an explanation of the properties see here.

Once done compile it up and copy the assembly to the Plugins folder of your Windows Live writer installation (e.g. C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Writer). When the application starts all the plug-ins in that folder get loaded too. I now had my Syntax Highlighter plug-in, and it worked. I could insert code into my blog post and upload it to the server for WordPress to display using Syntax Highlighter.

Job done then hey? Well not quite. As I had coded this as a SimpleContentSource plug-in once the code snippet had been inserted into the post editor it was treated as plain text (just as if I had written it by hand into the editor). This meant that if I flipped between the Editor and Source windows Live Writer converted my code text to use escape characters. This meant that my code snippet’s quotes and ampersands etc were converted to their friendly alternatives, and WordPress.com would display them without converting them back.

Writing a Windows Live Writer Plug-in (Part Two)

In order to resolve the issue of Live Writer treating my code snippets as regular text I went back to MSDN and found that the SmartContentSource plug-in type provides more control over the HTML that gets sent for publishing. SmartContentSource plug-ins are not treated as regular text and provide more control. Building this type of plug-in is only slightly more work than the less smart plain ContentSource type.

Firstly I needed to change the plug-in class (from above) to override SmartContentSource instead of ContentSource.

Then we override the CreateContent method as we did before. Live Writer creates a ISmartContent object and passes it in for us to update with the content the user creates. Again as before this example has a dialog box being shown to the user for them to key the code snippet but this time the data is set within the ISmartContent properties.

N,B: The reason I’m setting the ‘RawCode’ and the ‘SelectedLanguage’ properties as well as the combined total output is for use later when we want to display the dialog to the user again pre-populated.

In order to ensure that the correct text is being passed to the blog engine for publishing we override the GeneratePublishHtml method. The ISmartContent object passed in has the original data set as one of its properties so in this example I just return that.

This gets around the original problem that I experienced with the first ContentSource plug-in. Also SmartContentSource plug-ins benefit from being able to be edited via an editor view. This means that when an inserted code snippet is selected in the Editor in Live Writer we can display our own properties bar on the right hand side. To use this feature we need to add a UserControl to our project and make it derive from SmartContentEditor. We then add relevant controls to it to interact with our Content (i.e. code snippet). In my case I just added a link label control to re-launch the dialog box for the user to modify the code within the currently selected content (code snippet) in the editor. Once complete then override the CreateEditor method and return our own UserControl object as a SmartContentEditor object .

An important point is that only one instance of the plug-in is used in Live Writer for all instances of content being inserted. For example you may add multiple code snippets into one blog post but only one instance of your plug-in will be created and reused, therefore you cannot store any state information specific to an individual content items (i.e. Code snippets) within the plug-in. That’s why the data is always passed in to these methods we have been overriding.

Compile it up and copy the assembly to the PlugIns folder of your Windows Live writer installation (e.g. C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Writer\Plugins) to test. This time the content added using SmartContentSource is treated as special and is not converted as you flip between the Editor and Source views.

To extend the plug-in further its possible to update the ‘WriterPlugin’ attribute property ‘HasEditableOptions’ to true and override the ‘EditOptions’ method to display an options dialog to the user. This means that you can let the user modify settings for your plug-in. 

As you can see the plug-in model for Windows Live Writer is very simple and productive. It is surprisingly easy to quickly produce useful plug-ins.

Has the patience of a female Job.

Jordan and Eric attended tonight’s (Friday’s) World League Wrestling show, held at Young Arena in Waterloo, Iowa, held in conjunction with the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute and Museum’s pro wrestling hall of fame tomorrow (Saturday) at noon. Approximately 300 people were in attendance, as were some of the legends of professional wrestling, including Harley Race, Nick Bockwinkel, Larry Hennig, Mad Dog Vachon, Baron Von Raschke, Bob Roop, Danny Hodge, Sir Oliver Humperdink and many others. Most of the legends were selling merchandise, including Harley Race, who no-sold Eric’s handshake attempt after he purchased Race’s book.

(1) Jason Jones wrestled “The King of the 450″ Steve Anthony to a time limit draw (15:00). Anthony played the arrogant heel — entering the ring to the Donna Summer disco hit “Hot Stuff” — and made reference to last year’s floods that affected the induction weekend, saying he wanted the “ladies to keep their drooling to a minimum.” The match started slowly with good chain wrestling and some heel shenanigans by Anthony, but never really got going (the reason would be evident later). After the 15-minute time limit elapsed, the wrestlers teased a 5-minute overtime; Anthony shrugged it off, bringing Harley Race over to have a talk with him. Strangely, that talk did not lead to the “five more minutes,” and it’s not clear whether the talk was a pep talk, a planned talk or a “talking-to.”

(2) Full Metal Americas (Montoya X & Nicky Free) def. Foreign Objects (AJ Smooth & Tony Sly) (approx. 8:00). A standard tag team match with obvious face/heel lines drawn. Eric’s note: Knowing these guys like I do, it would have been nice to see Free work/sell the bulk of the match in order to get more in-ring experience. FMA won after the Samoa Joe-built Montoya hit an impactful frogsplash.

(3) Ryan Drago def. Trent Stone (11:00). Spot of the night: Imagine, if you will, a minor-league hockey arena with a 7-foot-high curtain down the middle width-wise, held up by a succession of metal poles. Drago exploded through the first curtain, and one of his arms hit the first pole. Like slooow-moving dominos, each pole fell to the ground, taking the entire curtain set-up with it. Words cannot describe how fucking hilarious this was. Drago slapped hands around ringside, and apologized profusely when he got to legends’ row. As for the match, Drago was corny in a good way as a face and showed off all of his Bryan Danielsen-like maneuvers. Stone showed surprisingly few power moves for as stout as he was. Again, the action was standard and ended with a Pearl River Plunge by Drago for the pin. Hopefully he did this on purpose, but as Drago was soaking in the crowd’s reaction, he backed into a trash can, knocking it over to etch his final memory.

20-Minute Intermission (55:00). Ugh.

(4) Amy Hennig (c) def. Becca and Lucy (9:00) for the WLW Women’s Championship. Becca was announced as the world’s strongest woman, claiming a 600-pound bench press. Believable, once you see her. “Once,” not “if,” because it wouldn’t surprise either of us if she made it to the big time. Same with Hennig; Amy has the timing and bumping ability of her late father, Curt. Lucy was OK in her “third wheel” role. Hennig and Lucy worked Becca over individually to no avail, then together with some success, but Becca played the monster well, hitting some great power moves. By the end of the match, Hennig hit Lucy with her dad’s neck snap and Perfectplex for the win.

(5) “Still King of the 450″ Steve Anthony & Bao Nguyen def. Darrin Wade & Jason Jones (c) to win the WLW Tag Team Championships (22:00). Before the match got going, a old, fat, bald man in the front row jawed with Anthony, getting pretty belligerent, until Wade came down and put his arm around the man in a “don’t worry, I’ll get him for you” gesture. Anthony must have done something right in the opening match, because he got more heat than the other three, even when standing on the apron. Wade took enough pages out of Homicide’s book to be guilty of plagiarism, from his hands-behind-the-head ref check to his top rope Ace Crusher and his attempted Cop Killer; and lest we forget his “homages” to AJ Styles and Petey Williams: after no one sold Wade’s dive to the outside, including himself, Wade hit Anthony with one Canadian Destroyer for a nearfall and *immediately* followed it up with — you guessed it — a Canadian Destroyer. For a nearfall. Oh, Anthony did hit the 450 (it was closer to a 427, but that explained why he didn’t try it earlier). The match ended with Nguyen hitting a frogsplash (yep, two in one night) on Wade for the pin. Meanwhile, Jones, who actually tried to get his partner’s comebacks over all night, writhed in pain on the floor after a semi-botched suplex attempt. Time for Wade to do some Hindu squats.

Shorter Intermission (Not much:shorter). Jordan said he’s glad he didn’t buy any raffle tickets, since they never announced a raffle winner (at least not while we were there).

(6) Superstar Steve (c) def. Ricky Steamboat, Jr., and Ryan Breaker to retain the WLW Heavyweight Championship (14:00). By this point in the night, the crowd was dead; two intermissions and five matches’ worth of babyface clapping had taken it out of them, and they reacted to few things besides “WOOO”ing for chops. Steamboat looked good, especially for only having about one year under his belt. Steve is just as good as or better than he was nine years ago, the first time Eric saw him wrestle. Breaker needed to get out of the way more often; he nearly cracked skulls with Steve on a miscommunicated duck-under/leapfrog move, and on a Randy Savage-style “deliberate clothesline” attempt caught his feet on the top rope and nearly killed himself in the scariest spot of the night. Overall, your typical three-way match, with one guy sitting out while the other two wrestled. The finish saw Steamboat on the top rope going for a Doomsday Cross Body onto Steve, who instead gave Breaker a victory roll for the pin.

Overall thoughts: Best babyface reactions went to Harley Race for confronting Anthony in the first match, Amy Hennig for the whole night (and Larry Hennig reacting to the douchebags who wanted pictures with Amy), and Drago for the curtain fall… Best heel reaction went to Anthony, more in the second match than the first… Two intermissions absolutely killed the crowd… Hopefully a storm that knocked out power for almost 10,000 people in this 100,000-person community didn’t affect the turnout too badly, and hopefully a good crowd comes to the museum for the hall of fame inductions in the morning.

This Blog was written and published direct from my laptop to my Word Press blog, this was done using Windows Live Writer (WLW) a free application from Microsoft, the benefits of using Windows Live Writer are many, you can take your time writing your blog post, save drafts, retrieve a blog you have posted for editing, if you have more than one blog you can post the same article to multiple blogs, here is a quick overview of how to setup WLW and post to your blog. 

Step 1: Download Microsoft’s Live Writer it will offer you other free products but you can just select the one, if you blog on other sites this application is compatible with many other services.

If you have used Live Writer before then you will know how to create an account, if not the first time you use live writer you will see the following screens.

Choose the Option “Other Blog Service”.

Enter your website address, your username and password when you press next it will validate your account.

Windows Live Writer will detect that you are using Word Press and will download and setup a template theme based on your blog setting.

Save you connection and you are ready to start.

You will now have an empty blog entry ready to go.

Write the title and a leader or summary of your blog, once you have done this select “Split Post” this will add a separator bar with a more.. tag.

Now you can write or paste the text and images, you can also insert an image from the toolbar, this will insert the image into your blog post, you can set a default size based on your blog template.

On the advanced tab for this blog I set the width to “460”, there are other options like word wrap borders etc, you will need to have a play with these to find what matches your style of blogging.

Now in the footer of Windows Live Writer you will need to set a category for this blog post, and also add tags so your blog post will be indexed and found in searches.

At any time if you have not completed your post from the Top Menu you can choose “Save Draft” this saves an unpublished local copy, and this will enable you to change the Article and update it before publishing the article, I have finished so I just press “Publish” and it will transfer the blog post it to the Word Press website.

Visit site at the top right will open the website where you can view your blog, back in Windows Live Writer make any adjustments and re-publish.
