Next up, semi-retirement!

A five-year run for Peter Thiele as program director at Salem’s New York stations WNYM/970 AM The Answer and WMCA 570 AM is about to end–on his own terms.

“My wife and I have decided to make a lifestyle change and make the move to San Antonio, Texas.” Thiele tells Tuned In.

He plans to launch a consulting firm. His last day in New York is May 3.

The company is actively searching for Thiele’s successor.

“The Salem New York Team has been fantastic: Jerry Crowley, Phil Boyce have been very supportive,” Thiele says. “The opportunity of launching a major News/Talk station in New York City is a once in a lifetime project.”

During his tenure at WNYM, the station’s morning host, Curtis Sliwa, doubled down with an afternoon show. He also hosted a Saturday shift.

Last year, WNYM rebranded The Apple to its current version, The Answer.

Thiele worked as a program director at numerous radio stations, including a pair of San Francisco stations.

“This has been such a great experience.  I would not change it for the world.  Time to slow things down,” Thiele says.

Westwood One syndicated talker Dennis Miller has joined the lineup on Salem’s WNYM “The Apple” New York for mid days airing Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Salem Radio Division President Joe D. Davis said “Miller is one of the brightest and funniest, and as a 9/11 conservative he also resonates with our listeners.” On the announcement, WNYM PD Peter Thiele added, “We are thrilled to be adding Dennis Miller to the lineup on the Talk of New York.”  Miller joins Mike Gallagher, Bill Bennett, Michael Medved, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, and Dr. Laura Schlessinger on The Apple.
