Just in case you were thinking you’d try bouncing your lovely new motorola off the surface of the nearest lake – DON’T DO IT! Motorola’s recent pebl ad showing a good looking young man skimming his pebl phone across the water where it’s picked up by a pretty woman, carried a warning which could be deemed a little unnecessary:

“Fictionalisation – the pebl phone is not water resistant”

Viewers! Don't try this at home.

Advertising, it seems, is a curious mixture of checking that we don’t believe something which is entirely implausible, and trying to make us believe something equally implausible. Take for example the L’Oreal ad featuring the lovely Cheryl Cole telling us how her hair feels full of body, replenished and has got its Mojo back. What she omits to say is that this process has nothing to do with shampoo but more to do with the 10 inch hair extensions she had put in place recently.

Things are not quite as they seem in adverts sometimes - Cheryl's hair is great, but normal, after all.

As one who has confessed on here already to a boob job I am definitely not against the occasional bit of fakery, but when it’s being used to trick teenage girls into believing that some rubbish  shampoo will make their hair look entirely different then it’s a whole new ball game. It would be like using Jordan to advertise wonderbras.

Of course there are also lots of ads which make occasionally sitting through the commercial break bearable….

Guinness are full of great ideas for advertising and they don't try and bulls**t us into believing something ridiculous

….but mostly I thank god for sky plus and a kettle.

Messieurs, vous souffrez. Votre silhouette vous déshonore, et votre virilité en est diminuée. La piscine est pour vous une épreuve digne des douze travaux d’Hercule. Nettoyer les écuries d’Augias serait une cure de jouvence en comparaison du calvaire qu’est le maillot de bain. Sans compter les regards méprisants et les sourires arrogants dans les vestiaires des salles de sport.
Pire, vous avez fait une croix définitive et irrémédiable sur les jeans slim et autres pantalons près du corps, à la limite de l’humiliation. Votre croix à vous, c’est votre manque de rondeurs côté atours masculins.

C’est le remède à une pénible disgrâce : une coque en forme de goutte vous fera prendre votre revanche sur bien des années d’infortune.

Voici venu le crépuscule d’un supplice qui a déjà trop duré. Finis les complexes, terminé le manque de confiance lors de rapprochements amoureux. Une nouvelle vie s’offre à vous.
Ce n’est pas qu’un simple sous-vêtement, c’est aussi un combat.
Les femmes ont eu droit aux Wonderbra, les hommes auront leur Black addict.

I came across this awesome website called Incredible Things. Some of the “things” on this website blow my mind. I love the angular furniture from Yuppie Hippie, as well as the Neff knit headphones from my good ol’ friend Urban Outfitters. So cool!

Ver I kissed a girl versión jazz

La mujer con los ojos más grandes del pop hace por fin su debut en este blog. Y esta vez no se trata de una payasada de las suyas (tirarte encima de una tarta solo es gracioso si estás gorda), sino de la poquísima vergüenza que tiene la tipa al grabar un Unplugged. Debe ser que los regalan, porque no se nos ocurre nadie menos adecuado para un concierto acústico. Bueno sí, Britney, pero ella cree que las guitarras son atrezzo para hacerte sesiones de fotos fálicas cuando tienes 17 años.

En defensa de Katy, hay que decir que aunque no lo parezca ella compone sus canciones. Eso quieras que no la sitúa a la cabeza de la nueva era dorada del pop que estamos viviendo. Teniendo en cuenta que la única artista blanca en ser #1 en USA durante los 2000 fue Gwen Stefani (que a ver cuando pasa de No doubt y vuelve a vestirse como una mujer), era muy necesario que un nuevo grupo de putillas devolviera el chochi-pop al lugar que le corresponde (nuestros corazones). La diferencia entre las cantantes blancas y las negras es que estas últimas solo tienen una actitud posible: navajera adicta al leopardo. Las blancas tienen menos sentido del ridículo y enseñan las tetas con más facilidad, por lo que su reinado es imprescindible.

A pesar de que la sombra de Lady Gaga es alargada, es cierto que Katy tiene buenos temas, aunque carezcan del halo de acontecimiento que tienen Just dance, Poker face, etc, etc. De hecho Perry es mucho mejor letrista que Gaga, y no solo porque no abusa de cualquier onomatopeya que se le ocurre, sino porque utiliza frases subordinadas. Tiene unos video-cortometrajes bien majos y muchas ganas de ser una estrella de verdad, para lo que se ha construido una estética propia, y ha sabido explotar su vis cómica. Probablemente su falta absoluta de sentido del ridículo hiciera que la gente le tirara chetos en los pasillos del instituto, pero lo bueno de estar maciza es que puedes ser una payasa integral y seguirán queriendo acostarse contigo. Eso, sumado a su obsesión por ser Dita Von Teese (no entendemos quién querría ser algo tan desagradable), convierten a Katy en una mini-estrella con posibilidades, y mira que tenía un rollo zara trafa intolerabe al principio. Claro que con esas tetas lo único que podía hacer en su vida es hacerse puta o pin-up, y Christina Aguilera ya ha acabado con las existencias de todas las peleterías de Los Ángeles.

El problema que tiene es que (como todas las verdaderas estrellas) no tiene ni zorra idea de cantar, y encima tiene la desfachatez de hacer una versión jazzy de I kissed a girl, esa canción que en realidad es insoportable y que ensombreció el verdadero TEMAZO de ese disco, Hot ‘n cold. Alguien le ha hecho unos arreglos decentes, y ella va muy apañada para la ocasión con esa estrella de mar en la cabeza, pero comete el error de intentar entonar, con un tema que además tiene una melodía nula. No solo desafina como una perry perra (worst joke ever), sino que encima intenta alardear. Lo dicho, muy poca vergüenza.

El resultado es una actuación más parecida a Labuat que a Ella Fitzgerald, así que esperamos que Katy siga moldeándose el pelo hasta su siguiente disco, donde estamos seguros que habrá al menos una canción que cambie nuestras vidas durante dos semanas.

Larga vida al pop.

Dita is featured in the November issue of Cheesecake. Specifically, her new Wonderbra range is featured in the magazine’s regular “Things We Love” section.

Cheesecake is an independent e-zine, freely available for download in pdf form. Based in Dallas, the magazine publishes pin-up and retro related articles. Ava Garter was interviewed for the October issue, in which she talks about her career, burlesque and The Black Glove. Dita comes up in the interview a few times. I know many of you admire Ava as well (as do I) so the issue will interest you in general. There’s also some great pin-up girls from each issue!

Dita and I have been friends for almost 20 years now. From moving out of our parents homes and becoming the top go-go dancers in the circuit in LA and Orange County to our first real strip club jobs ,then add all of the boyfriends and a couple husbands that have come and gone, she and I have experienced a lot of life’s ups and downs together. We have a great understanding of each other that is more like a sisterhood at times and I am so grateful for it. Some women live all of their lives without ever finding a great “Best girl friend” so I don’t ever want to take her for granted. When I was newly separated I came up with the idea that I might like to try going back on stage. Dita’s answer was simple and exactly what I needed to hear. She just said “Why can’t you? ” I thought about it for a while and realized that she was right. Anything you want is possible , all you have to do is go for it.

Jag är lite av ett reklamfreak, älskar all form av tryckt reklam. TV-reklam är jag inte lika förtjust i men det går an. Det bästa jag vet dock är smarta idéer där reklamen interagerar med betraktaren på billboards och liknande. Ska försöka lägga upp några sådana varje vecka, så får ni se några riktigt smarta originella idéer.

Denna reklambild från Wonderbra tycker jag är helfestlig. Direkt kopplar man vad det är för något, även att det överhuvud taget inte ens syns någon wonderbra. Vi ser lätt att det är en bh som apelsinerna föreställer, detta har vi inpräntat i hjärnan, att en bh ser ut så där. Och att bh:n sitter perfekt.

In one picture, the 37-year-old beauty is seen hovering teasingly above an antique-looking chair wearing the brands lingerie, reports the Sun.

In another, she is seen standing in front of mirror adjusting the clasp of her bra.
