Le vernissage de l’expo Wonderful Town (que je vous ai présenté ICI), la nouvelle série d’oeuvres de Pierre et Gilles, c’était ce soir à la galerie Jérôme de Noirmont. Et c’était grandiose.

 C’était très sympa, noir de monde (oui je sais du coup mes photos sont très réussies !), il y avait les modèles des photos, des gens très originaux, du people (de la pointure, hein : Armande Altaï qui a posé pour les artistes, Fiona Gelin, etc.) et les deux artistes, qui ont été ravis de se prêter au jeu de la photo en polaroid !

Et je pense que l’expo est désormais incontournable !

Pierre et Gilles, les deux génies à la double technique si particulière, sont de retour avec une nouvelle série d’oeuvres, Wonderful Town, exposée à la galerie Jérôme de Noirmont.

Avec Nico nous sommes vraiment fans de leur travail, que nous avons admiré à plusieurs reprises, parfois dans des lieux improbables tel que l’église Saint Eustache.

Petit rappel sur eux :

Pierre Commoy et Gilles Blanchard forment un couple artistique épatant, et ce depuis leur rencontre en 1976. Ils ont une technique bien spécifique : ils dessinent ensemble l’œuvre qu’ils ont imaginée, conçoivent la mise en scène théâtrale de leurs décors, l’éclairage, choisissent et créent les costumes et les accessoires. Puis Pierre photographie la scène avant que Gilles intervienne sur l’unique tirage obtenu, avec des couches successives de peinture et de glacis. À la fin, ils conçoivent ensemble un encadrement spécifique pour la photographie.

À travers leurs images aux couleurs saturées ils développent un style onirique et fantasque : “On aime idéaliser mais on parle aussi de la mort, du mystère et de l’étrangeté de la vie. Il y a autant de douceur que de violence dans nos images”.

Ils abordent des thèmes de la culture pop, de la culture gay, y compris la pornographie, ou la religion, qui a une place très importante dans leurs oeuvres. « Nous avons le gout du mystique. Il est très difficile de séparer art et religion ».

Pierre et Gilles représentent des inconnus, mais aussi des célébrités. Bon nombre sont passés entre les mains des deux artistes : Catherine Deneuve, Serge Gainsbourg, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Marilyn Manson et Dita von Teese, François Pinault, Christian Boltanski, Arielle Dombasle, Marie Gillain, Nina Hagen, Rupert Everett, Etienne Daho, Sylvia Vartan, Jean Marais, Laetitia Casta, Lio, Héléna Noguerra, Christian Louboutin (tout jeune !), Paloma Picasso, les 2be3 ou encore Mireille Mathieu…

Wonderful Town, la nouvelle série, selon la galerie Jérôme de Noirmont : « Wonderful Town, c’est une ville comme il y en a partout dans le monde… C’est une ville moderne sans passé, une ville industrielle.» L’idée de Wonderful Town est née au retour d’un voyage au Japon, pays que Pierre et Gilles connaissent bien pour y avoir séjourné plusieurs fois depuis vingt ans, où les villes sont inhumaines et où les populations urbaines éprouvent par conséquent la nécessité de s’inventer des rêves, des fantasmes, des folies pour échapper à une réalité trop dure.

Nous avons été convié au vernissage jeudi prochain, et comme Nico est absent, j’y vais avec ma copine Sandra (qui est amie avec la sirène de cette photo de Pierre et Gilles, qui est aussi le modèle de sa nouvelle collection de bijoux…).

Nous aurons la chance de croiser le couple d’artistes, et je vous ferai un débrief sur la qualité de l’expo ! Le vernissage sera aussi à suivre en direct via le Tumblr !

It was announced that actress, Im Soo Jung is playing the leading role in a Thailand short film, Phuket.

Phuket is directed by Thai director, Aditya Assarat and also stars Thailand’s National Artist actor, Sorapong Chatree. The story is about a hotel limo driver (Sorapong Chatree), shuttling around a famous Korean actress, Jin (Im Soo Jung) who is finding solace in Thailand and their friendship.

Filming took place in Phuket in August.

Im Soo Jung’s co-star, Sorapong Chatree has filmed nearly 400 movies and is often referred as the Ahn Sung Ki (veteran Korean actor) of Thailand. Film director, Aditya Assarat has gained some fame in Korea as well, after gaining recognition at the 2007 Pusan International Film Festival for his movie, Wonderful Town.

Aditya Assarat expressed, “I have always wanted to work with Im Soo Jung. She is an actress with substance and is very charismatic, it has always been my dream to work with an actress like her. I am very happy and honored to be able to work with her.”

Im Soo Jung is currently busy with filming for her new movie, Story of Jeon Woo Chi with Kang Dong Won, with no scheduled release date as yet.

Amy Adams stars in Disney's "Enchanted"

I don’t believe in fate, but I do believe in this:

Sooner or later, everyone will drop anchor in New York City.

Be it a year, a semester abroad, or a long weekend, people from all around the world will pay a visit to the place my father reverently calls “The Center of the Universe.”

I’ve said a few disparaging or disheartening things about this urban labyrinth, but I wouldn’t be living here if I didn’t love it. However, I’m not so in love with this city that I can’t recognized the misplaced overconfidence in this statement.

There is an undeniable dream-like quality that accompanies the uttering of the words “New York.” I want to be a part of it. My little home is on the 100th floor. The Bronx is up and the Battery’s down. It’s the city that never sleeps. Lets face it, if Amy Adams endorses New York City as the perfect place to unfold a fairy tale in her movie Enchanted, I’m inclined to believe her. She’s just so darn cute!

In my five years living here, I’ve ventured to tourist hot-spots like the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I’ve also discovered my own treasures, like the gorgeous story-book fountain by City Hall that is lit with gas lamps, their flames flickering like smoldering ballerina feet in the night. I’ve enjoyed a disparate array of cuisines from street food to five star restaurants. No matter how long I’m here, the infinite well of the city provides me with more scope for the imagination and my taste buds. Where else can you get pad thai delivered to your door at 3 AM?

I love the ability to disappear amongst the metal spires of skyscrapers and at the same time, I stand by the fact that even in this massive city, I still run into friends on the street. They vary from close friends to long lost coworkers. While this may not be everyone’s last stop, it certainly makes everyone’s “must see” list. I’ve crossed paths with almost every important person in my life while treading the metropolitan asphalt.

People always want to visit me here to get a proper tour from a “real New Yorker.” I love having them and it’s incredibly convenient and cost effective for me. Like Hermes, the Greek god of hospitality, I accept all visitors and newcomers with dutiful open arms, suggesting interesting off-the-beaten-path attractions and helping foreigners find the best subway routes- and I’m not the only one! Once, when my mom was on business here for her law firm, it was raining heavily and a man saw her without an umbrella and promptly walked her all the way back to her hotel, not taking no for an answer. When they arrived, he said, “Don’t ever let anyone tell you New Yorkers aren’t nice.” Then he promptly disappeared into the sea of passing umbrellas leaving no name and no trace.

However, I find I’m leaving the city less and less. It makes me ponder how this affects my mental health and most importantly my sense of perspective. New York might be a centrifuge for culture and commerce, but I’m not sure that it really is the center of the universe and without question, it isn’t the only place that matters inside of it.

New York sometimes feels like an inescapable womb in the process of breeding and evolving a new strain of subhuman. I shall call them:

Turtle People.

Just kidding.

But not really. Let’s take a ride, shall we?

When you decide to live in New York City, you run the risk of becoming a Turtle Person. I once stumbled up on this phenomena, and by stumbled upon I mean coined this term myself, while discussing what a battle it is to navigate the NYC subway system, pick up your morning coffee, and arrive at work unscathed and on time. I was commiserating with my friend, Pam, about how alone you can feel even in a packed subway car and how everyone moves through their day with their head inside their shell until they require food or some other service, and then they pop their heads out, blazing with this incredibly unattractive, blinding sense of entitlement. If two Turtle People pop their heads out of their shells at the same time…

The results could be disasterous.

This is the danger of letting New York trap you. which I don’t necessarily mean in a physical sense. It’s very easy to get sucked into a grueling routine. Every weekday, when I plunge down into the subway at rush hour, I begin to feel my turtle shell forming and hardening. I bend my elbows, clench my fists, and forge ahead through the flow of people towards the turn-styles. I used my shoulders defensively, protecting my iPhone like a linebacker driving the ball through a veritable phalanx of opposition. I brace myself as I weed through people rushing at me, trying just as fervently to go in the opposite direction, all of our shells thickening as we advance deeper into the underbelly of the city. I arrive at the doors of my train as they are closing. In my way: A tiny old woman who is unsure of whether or not to enter.

“MOVE!” I bellow at her, head emerging from my shell as I try desperately to make my train. I completely ignore the fact that the woman could be a tourist who doesn’t understand English and I disregard that old platitude about “respecting your elders.”

You get the picture? Turtle People. Tell your friends.

That’s the risk you run when you live here. Of course, there’s a degree of expectation that you will get used to all of the people packed into small spaces. At first its just a matter of putting on your headphones and getting to a state of Zen, but eventually, this develops into a defensiveness and a willingness to be combative. It’s a jungle out there and you have to eat or be eaten from time to time.

At the other end of the spectrum, I have also felt the immense power of communal love in New York City. Last summer, my parents and I were in a car accident on the Upper West Side. We were in a cab on our way home from my graduation from NYU. I was in a gentle slumber, leaning on my mother’s shoulder. I was full of good food and celebratory dreams when I was shaken from my sleep by the perpendicular impact of our taxi with a woman’s car that was speeding across town. I woke, crumpled against the divider. Stupidly none of us were wearing seat belts and I was completely disoriented. My mother was gasping for breath, repeating the words, “My chest is crushed.” The combined weight of me and my father had slammed into her and sharply knocked the wind out of her. As I got my bearings, I realized my father was clutching his head. I could see his head had a huge gash across his forehead. He was talking quickly and saying “I’m ok,” not to mention trying to tell a few jokes as he stumbled out onto the street. I knew he couldn’t be too badly hurt because his jokes were at the same degree of “corny” that they always are, but the blood made it look worse than it was.

I followed him, trying to help him settle on the curb when I noticed how many people were rushing out of their stores onto the street. Apparently the crash had been rather loud. People gathered around us, trying to help my dad and steadying me as I dropped my diploma and my program. They carefully began checking my face and arms for scrapes and blood.

“I have to get my mom,” I said to the woman who was leading me to the sidewalk, but when we turned towards the cab, a gentleman was already helping her, supporting her weight on his arm. As an EMT student who happened to be passing helped my dad into the neck brace he was carrying with him, a shop-owner brought out plastic chairs and bottled water for me and my mother.

The traffic on Broadway had been brought to a halt and as my senses reawakened and the pounding in my head subsided, I realized that for every person that was helping us on our side of the street, just as many were helping the female driver who had hit us on the other side.

When I looked at my dad lying on the sidewalk, bleeding profusely from his forehead, I started to lose it and began to cry. I didn’t see her approaching, but a homeless woman put her hand on my shoulder. Normally I would have glared and pulled away in disgust, but that day I didn’t. She squeezed my shoulder with her warm leathery hand and said. “He’s going to be OK, Mama.” She smiled reassuringly. I stopped crying as we locked eyes and she calmed me down with her steady, concerned gaze.

I kept dropping the papers I was holding. The woman who was looking after my mother picked them up for me. She noted the purple NYU insignia on them and smiled. “I went there. What a great school!”

“I g-graduated today.” I stammered. It was all I could think to say.

She giggled good naturedly and looked between my mom and me, taking both of our hands. “You’ll remember this day for the rest of your lives!” We all laughed.

That day was such a testament to the spirit of New York- the spirit that got this amazing city through immense tragedy and hardship during 9/11/2001, the spirit that made that Wesley Autrey Sr. leap onto the slippery tracks of the New York Subway in order to hold down 19 year old epileptic, Cameron Hellopeter, saving his life by keeping his shaking body still as the train passed over them.

So yes, we run the risk of becoming Turtle People, but being here isn’t always a battle. Sometimes it’s the greatest opportunity of your lifetime and an absolute honor to be a New Yorker.

Sasha Allen turns 27 today. Currently making her Broadway debut belting her tits off at the Al Hirschfeld in the current Broadway revival of Hair as Dionne, Sasha Allen is best known as a backing artist for Christina Aguilera, Usher and Leona Lewis.

Mary Testa turns 54 today. Currently appearing as the only highlight in a very dull production of Guys and Dolls on Broadway, she is best known for cracking up audiences night after night in shows like Xanadu and 42nd Street. Hopefully one day she will move up to a starring role. That role will probably have to be written, because sadly there is nothing in the Broadway canon that would really allow her to shine.

Rosalind Russell was born 98 years ago. Best known as the original Auntie Mame, the original Ruth Sherwood in Wonderful Town as well as the worst Madame Rose in the ‘62 movie of Gypsy, Rosalind Russell was one of the Golden Era’s brightest stars. She was just as comfortable on the Broadway stage or a Hollywood movie set, and has a great succession of credits to her name.

Starting June 6th, Ovation TV begins a two week, on air, Broadway Festival, where viewers can catch: “Mr. Prince,” the new documentary about the legendary Hal Prince in addition to performances of “Cabaret”, “Victor/Victoria”, “New York, New York” to name a few. They will also air other great programs in the Broadway series, including ‘Making of Phantom of the Opera’ and the documentary, ‘Annie” Life After Tomorrow’, which features Sarah Jessica Parker.  Here’s a trailer for this exciting documentary:

Mark Price lights up Broadway with his brilliant comedic timing. From “Riff Raff” in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”, to “Pepper” in “Mamma Mia” to a “Cadet” in “Wonderful Town” to  “Denis” in “All Shook Up”, Mark leaves the audience in stitches and always wanting more. Currently Mark can be seen tearing up the stage and house as “Robertson Ay” in “Mary Poppins” at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City.

1. Who inspired you to become a performer? Drama teacher in Junior High who introduced me to speech and drama competitions and my high school teacher who was a mentor of mine.

2. What is the highest and lowest note you can sing? Oh lord….depends on the day, but on a good one, I can sing up to a c….not sure about the low part.

3. What’s your most embarrassing audition? Pick one…one that I’ve fallen in, one that I could barely sing, or just a handful of bad choices. Go large or go home, I say.

4. If you couldn’t do what you are doing now, what career would you choose? I ask myself that daily….

5. Do you have any strange or unusual talent that no one knows about? No….wish I had the gay decorating gene.

6. Favorite kind of sundae (ice cream flavor and topping)? Coffee Ice cream, or just plain vanilla with a little chocolate on top.

7. Books or Magazines? Right now, I’m reading the Screwed Up Life of Charlie The Second, and Carrie Fisher’s new book. Magazines? O.K., I’ll admit, a subscription to Metropolitan Home (what?)

8. Animal Crackers or Oreos? Monkeys and Tigers loop de loop

9. Favorite ride at an amusement park? Tie between the Yeti Monster ride at Animal Kingdom Disney, or Tower of Terror….I’m a sucker for any rollercoaster, but no teacup ride, I’ll puke.

10. What skin care products do you use? Monkey Placenta…..just kidding, Khiel’s

This sweltering Sunday found me in the middle of Times Square with my three favorite musical theater hopefuls checking out our fellow college alumni perform for Broadway on Broadway. If you’re a cheap New Yorker (like me) this is the perfect way to get a taste of the upcoming — and current — Broadway shows for free as they hit a stage set up in Times Square and perform a song. We stood surrounded by our fellow New Yorkers and tourists listening to performances from Billy Elliot and Gypsy to Avenue Q, [title of show], In the Heights, Xanadu, and saw our friends rock their roles in Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid and Legally Blonde.

B’way on B’way was hot, and I mean that in the literal sense. As soon as our last friend-related performance ended, we headed out in search of an air conditioned cafe. I split with my friends and made a pit stop at the bank where I was subsequently locked inside the ATM facility for 15 minutes with another bank patron. As we were banging on the glass to get ANYONE’s attention, I felt a sting on my arm and saw a bee drop to the floor. I’m not allergic to bees to the point where I need to carry an epi-pen, but am allergic enough that my arm immediately began to swell to the size of an egg. Luckily a passing police officer saw our distress, swiped his ATM card, and released the door, setting us free. Hot, tired from the sun and slightly paniking about the ever-growing size of the egg on my arm, I hailed a cab home (not before grabbing an iced coffee from Starbucks first, which they gave me for free!)

Sitting here now freshly showered, minus one bee’s stinger, I realized my day was helped along by various New Yorkers: the B’way on B’way staff that lead us to our special “artists’ guest” area, the performers, the man in blue and his ATM card, the Starbucks barista and even my sympathetic cab driver, who waited in front of the grocery store (with the meter off) while I grabbed some miso paste for my sting — an old trick for decreasing swelling. For all the times this city tears us apart, swallows us whole and spits us out, it truly is our fellow New Yorkers that make Manhattan a wonderful town.

If you’re a cheap New Yorker (like me) this is the perfect way to get a taste of the upcoming — and current — Broadway shows for free as they hit a stage set up in Times Square and perform a song. We stood surrounded by our fellow New Yorkers and tourists listening to performances from Billy Elliot and Gypsy to Avenue Q, [title of show],In the Heights, Xanadu, and saw our friends rock their roles in Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid and Legally Blonde.

B’way on B’way was hot, and I mean that in the literal sense. As soon as our last friend-related performance ended, we headed out in search of an air conditioned cafe. I split with my friends and made a pit stop at the bank where I was subsequently locked inside the ATM facility for 15 minutes with another bank patron. As we were banging on the glass to get ANYONE’s attention, I felt a sting on my arm and saw a bee drop to the floor. I’m not allergic to bees to the point where I need to carry an epi-pen, but am allergic enough that my arm immediately began to swell to the size of an egg. Luckily a passing police officer saw our distress, swiped his ATM card, and released the door, setting us free. Hot, tired from the sun and slightly paniking about the ever-growing size of the egg on my arm, I hailed a cab home (not before grabbing an iced coffee from Starbucks first, which they gave me for free!)

Sitting here now freshly showered, minus one bee’s stinger, I realized my day was helped along by various New Yorkers: the B’way on B’way staff that lead us to our special “artists’ guest” area, the performers, the man in blue and his ATM card, the Starbucks barista and even my sympathetic cab driver, who waited in front of the grocery store (with the meter off) while I grabbed some miso paste for my sting — an old trick for decreasing swelling. For all the times this city tears us apart, swallows us whole and spits us out, it truly is our fellow New Yorkers that make Manhattan a wonderful town.

Paso atrás en la cartelera; remakes de películas para olvidar, saltos de la pequeña a la gran pantalla que no queríamos sufrir y el habitual reguero de peliculillas infames y mediocres que no van a ninguna parte; por desgracia, estas son las últimas incorporaciones a las salas de cine:

-El increíble Hulk: los que renegamos de la versión de Ang Lee no podemos evitar el echarnos las manos a la cabeza al ser acosados con una revisión a la que mete mano el francés Louis Leterrier para reconducir la ¿franquicia? hacia terrenos más familiares, menos “de autor” y más de palomitas&refresco; algo que choca con la presencia de dos tíos a los que, hasta ahora, no podía profesar otra cosa que respeto y admiración, como son Edward Norton y Timothy Roth; el primero ya se ha desmarcado por completo de la promoción del asunto para mostrar su total desacuerdo con el resultado final; y yo me pregunto: ¿qué se esperaba este señor que fuera a salir de una producción como esta, en la que su nombre iba a ser un mero reclamo, poco más que barniz de pretendida calidad con el que maquillar la realidad, es decir, que lo que importan son las secuencias digitales, con Hulk y sus enemigos en su versión 3-D?; a mí es ver el trailer, con la carrerita de marras entre La Masa y Abominación, yendo el uno a por el otro, más el saltito final en plan “nos damos la yoya en el aire, a lo Bola de Dragón” y me entra un sudor tan frío…

-Sexo en Nueva York: no he visto la serie y no debería opinar, pero opinaré, y opinaré que no me acercaría a ver “esto” ni atado de pies y manos; las cuatro “protagonistas” de esta oda a la frivolité dan el salto al cine, más petardas y más viejas, para deleite de sus fans y sarpullido de los demás, entre los que me cuento.

-Margot y la boda: Nicole Kidman, otra que puede hacer una tesis del “síndrome del Oscar” (ganar la estatuilla y decir adiós a una carrera, hasta entonces, bastante potable), con la colaboración de Halle Berry y Angelina Jolie, por si la chica necesitara ayuda, se nos mete en una de líos en torno a una boda, hilo argumental que ya empieza a aburrir.

-The princess of Nebraska: definitivamente, este fin de semana hay cosas muy, muy raras en cartelera; esto viene siendo la historia de una chica china en USA que ha decidido abortar (?).

-La leyenda del DJ Frankie Wilde: biopic sobre un DJ que, por culpa de una enfermedad degenerativa, se termina quedando sin oído, algo complicado en su profesión.

-Caos calmo: el estomagante Nani Moretti reaparece dirigido por el tal Antonio Luigi Grimaldi; muy prescindible.

-Wonderful Town: drama tailandés; sí, tailandés…

-El patito feo y yo: una de dibujos con dinero franco-danés.

-3:19: españolada con el ahora famoso Miguel Ángel Silvestre gracias a Sin tetas no hay paraíso.

พังงา  10 พฤศจิกายน 2549

เรามาถึงพังงาค่อนข้างเย็นแล้ว ทีมงานหลายคนเริ่มคุ้นกับเมืองเล็กที่ล้อมไปด้วยภูเขานี่แล้ว  เมื่อเดือนก่อน ทีมงานหลักๆส่วนหนึ่งลงมาที่นี่กับจุ๊ก (อาทิตย์ อัสสรัตน์ : ผู้กำกับ) เพื่อดูสถานที่และเตรียมความพร้อมก่อนการถ่ายทำ  ราว 2 อาทิตย์นับจากนี้ไปพวกเราจะอยู่ที่โรงแรมหลักเมืองซึ่งเป็นสถานที่หลักในการถ่ายทำและเป็นที่พักสำหรับทีมงาน  ดูจากรูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรมและการออกแบบ โรงแรมนี้คงมีอายุหลายสิบปี  เจ้าของโรงแรมเป็นผู้หญิงอายุเกือบ 70 แล้ว เราเรียกแกว่าป้าหมี  ระหว่างถ่ายทำคนในกองที่พอเริ่มจะคุ้นเคยกับแกบ้าง ก็จะป่วนแกเป็นประจำ นานๆ ครั้งแกจะโวยและส่งเสียงดังเอกลักษณ์ของคนใต้ให้เราได้หงอๆไปบ้าง แต่แกก็น่ารักมักจะให้คนหาซื้อผลไม้อย่างแตงโมบ้าง สับปะรดบ้าง หรือมะละกอ มาให้เป็นลาภปากคนในกองถ่ายเสมอ  ผมไม่รู้ว่าตอนที่ลงมาหาสถานที่ระหว่างเขียนบท จุ๊กได้แรงบันดาลใจสร้างตัวละคร นา (นางเอก) มาจากป้าหมีบ้างหรือเปล่า 

แค่ไม่กี่วัน คนที่นี่ก็รู้ว่าพวกเรามาถ่ายหนัง รู้กันไปทั่วตลาด มีคนแวะเวียนมาถามบ่อยๆ คำถามประจำที่เรามักจะตอบไม่ได้ก็คือ ใครเป็นพระเอก นางเอก , ฉายที่ไหน , ช่องไหน , หนังเกี่ยวกับอะไร  เพราะเราเองก็ตอบไม่ได้ว่ามันจะได้ฉายที่ไหน เมื่อไหร่ มีบ้างที่มีคนไม่ชอบใจที่เรามาถ่ายทำเหมือนกัน เพราะชีวิตปกติสุขอันเรียบง่ายของเขาถูกรบกวน

ความที่เป็นเมืองเล็กๆ เงียบๆ ไม่มีที่ท่องเที่ยวมากนัก กิจกรรมของพวกเราที่ทำในระหว่างได้พัก ก็คือหาอาหารอร่อยๆ ที่นี่กิน เตร่ไปกินที่โน่นที่นี่ตามที่คนแนะนำมา เราแวะร้านโน้นออกร้านนี้เพียงไม่กี่วัน ร้านที่ว่าอร่อยก็วนครบมาหมดทุกร้าน อาหารใต้แม้ว่าจะอร่อย แต่ก็ขึ้นชื่ออยู่แล้วในความเผ็ดจัด ถึงเราจะรู้อยู่ว่ามันจะทำให้เราเหงื่อโชก น้ำตาไหลแต่เราก็ยังแวะไปลิ้มลองจนได้ ตอนเช้าในวันที่ตลาดไม่วุ่นวายมากนัก แค่ในร้านโจ๊กเล็กๆ ผู้คนและบรรยากาศรอบตัว มันก็เป็นความรื่นรมย์เล็กๆ ที่ทำให้เรารู้สึกผ่อนคลาย ในยามเย็นของวันที่ไม่ได้ถ่ายทำ ได้นั่งมองผู้คนกลับจากการทำงานขี่มอเตอร์ไซค์ทักทายกัน  นักเรียนถีบจักรยานกลับจากโรงเรียน  ทำให้เราพอจะนิ่งๆ มองคนรอบๆ ข้างในเมืองนี้ได้บ้าง  มันก็มีความสงบเกิดขึ้นในความรู้สึกเหมือนกัน  พอตกค่ำเมืองก็เงียบ ร้านรวงก็ปิด ขณะที่ทั้งเมืองกำลังหลับใหล  พวกเราคนแปลกถิ่นที่ไม่ยอมหลับ ดึกๆ ก็แวะเข้า 7-11 หรือไม่ก็เตร่หาของกินอยู่เป็นประจำ

เพราะทำงานกันเกือบทุกวัน พวกเราอยู่ที่นี่มาเกือบ 2 อาทิตย์ แทบจะไม่ได้ตระเวนไปไหนกันเลย  ตารางการทำงานจะมีวันหยุด 1 หรือ 2 วันต่อการทำงานต่อเนื่อง 3 – 5 วัน  แต่เอาเข้าจริง เราจะมีเวลาทำอะไรที่เป็นส่วนตัวแค่ครึ่งวัน แล้วก็มารวมตัวทำงานต่อ  วันหนึ่งพวกเราก็ทนไม่ไหวรวมตัวนัดกันเอารถตู้ของกองถ่ายขับไปเที่ยวน้ำตก  ก่อนจะถึงน้ำตก  รถตู้ก็แบกทีมงาน 13-14 คนขึ้นเขาไม่ไหว ต้องจอดนิ่งยอมแพ้อยู่ที่ทางขึ้น  แต่พวกเราก็ไม่ยอมแพ้ ดึงดันจะเช่ารถกระบะพาไปถึงน้ำตกจนได้  แล้วตอนหลังพวกเราเอาเรื่องมาคุยกับพวกที่ไม่ได้ไปเที่ยวให้อิจฉากันอีกต่างหาก

2 อาทิตย์ผ่านไปในความรู้สึกสองอย่าง มันเร็วเพราะเรายังไม่ได้ทำความรู้จักเมืองที่เรามากินนอนอยู่นี่เลย  กับอีกความรู้สึกหนึ่งมันช่างยาวนานเพราะความเหนื่อยล้าของการถ่ายทำ  วันสุดท้ายที่นี่เรายังคงประชุมตอน 5 โมงเย็น สำหรับการถ่ายทำที่จะเกิดขึ้นในคืนนี้ไปจนถึงเช้า  แล้วก็ต้องเดินทางไปตะกั่วป่ากันต่อเลย

ป้าหมีเดินทางไปต่างจังหวัด ทำให้พวกเราไม่มีโอกาสได้ร่ำลาแก ได้แต่เขียนข้อความกันคนละนิดล่ะหน่อยบอกลา พวกเรามาสร้างความวุ่นวายให้กับโรงแรมอันสงบสุขของแก  แต่พวกเราคิดว่าแกก็คงจะรู้สึกดีเหมือนกันที่เรามาสร้างสีสันให้โรงแรมของแก  อย่างน้อยๆ แกก็คุยกับคนอื่นๆ ได้ว่าโรงแรมเก่าๆ นี้ก็เคยมีคนมาขอถ่ายหนัง

ตะกั่วป่า  21 พฤศจิกายน 2549

เราย้ายจากพังงา มาที่ตะกั่วป่าเพื่อถ่ายทำส่วนที่เหลือ สถานที่ถ่ายทำส่วนใหญ่จะอยู่ในตัวเมือง แต่ที่พักของทีมงานจะอยู่ไกลออกมาราว 30 กิโล แถวเขาหลัก บ้านคึกคัก ที่โดนสึนามิเล่นงานเมื่อเกือบสองปีก่อน มี

รีสอร์ทที่ก่อสร้างขึ้นมาใหม่แทนของเก่าที่เหลือแต่ซากอยู่หลายเจ้า ด้านหลังของโรงแรมที่พัก เรายังมองเห็นซากของเรือลาดตระเวณที่ถูกพัดมาเกยอยู่ไกลๆ ย้ำให้เรารู้ตัวว่าตรงนี้มันมีความหลังและประวัติของมันฝังอยู่ หลังจากเอาข้าวของส่วนตัวโยนไว้ที่ห้องพัก ทีมงานหลายคนชวนกันไปเดินเล่นชายหาดห่างจากที่เราพักราวๆ กิโล  โดยไม่ต้องรอถามไถ่ซ้ำ  ครู่ใหญ่ๆพวกเราก็มาเดินดูตะวันตกทะเลสมใจ  ที่นี่คึกคักสมชื่อ คงเป็นเพราะมันเป็นแหล่งท่องเที่ยว  มีนักท่องเที่ยวและผู้คนมากกว่าในตัวจังหวัดพังงา นี่เพิ่งจะถ่ายทำไปได้แค่ครึ่งเดียว แต่ทีมงานหลายๆ คนเริ่มพูดถึงคิวปิดกล้องกับงานปาร์ตี้ริมหาดกันแล้ว

การถ่ายทำที่ตะกั่วป่าส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นคิวกลางวัน มีอยู่ไม่กี่วันที่คิวจะเป็นกลางคืน บรรยากาศที่นี่คุ้นตา เพราะเป็นสถานที่นิยมมาถ่ายหนัง , โฆษณา ฯลฯ คนที่นี่ก็เลยคุ้นเคยกับกล้องและทีมงานที่มาวุ่นวายไปตามมุมต่างๆ ของเมือง  การตีสนิทกับผู้คนตามบ้านตามร้านค้าเพื่อขอความร่วมมือ  ขอความสะดวกในการถ่ายทำ ทำให้เราได้เห็นความรุ่งเรืองของการทำเหมืองเมื่อหลายสิบปีก่อน  สำนักงานในสมัยนั้นก็ยังมีให้เห็นอยู่หลายที่ บางที่เปลี่ยนไปทำธุรกิจอื่นแล้ว ขณะที่บางที่ก็ล่มร้าง  ได้รับรู้เรื่องลูกสาวเจ้าของร้านกาแฟ รูปของเธอสวมครุยปริญญายังวางอยู่บนตู้เย็นในร้าน  แต่เจ้าของรูปจากไปในเหตุการณ์สึนามิแล้ว  ถึงที่นี่จะไม่ได้โดนผลของสึนามิโดยตรง แต่คนที่นี่ก็เสียคนในครอบครัวคนที่รักไปไม่น้อยเหมือนกัน  ความหลังของที่นี่ค่อยๆ ผุดออกมาให้เราสัมผัส

เมื่อถึงวันที่เราต้องเดินเข้าไปดูซากอาคารของจริงก่อนการถ่ายทำ ความรู้สึกหดหู่มันกลบความกลัวของทีมงานหลายๆคนออกไป กลางกองซากที่ถูกทำลาย เราพบข้าวของหลายอย่าง ส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นของเล็กๆน้อยๆ อย่างตุ๊กตา ของเล่น และพ๊อคเก็ตบุ๊ค ที่กระจัดกระจายแต่ยังอยู่ในสภาพดี  เรานึกถึงเจ้าของมันแล้วก็รู้สึกเศร้าปนๆ กับความเสียวสันหลัง  ทีมงานคนหนึ่งของเราหยิบหนังสือเล่มหนึ่งขึ้นมา มันเป็นนิยายสยองขวัญภาษาเยอรมัน เราเปิดดูที่ปกด้านในเจ้าของเขียนวัน เดือน ปี และลงลายมือชื่อเอาไว้ เราวางมันกลับไว้ที่เดิม  วันที่มาถ่ายจริงเราพบหนังสือเล่มหนึ่งที่ชั้นล่าง เมื่อหยิบมันขึ้นมาจากทรายที่กลบฝังมันเอาไว้ เมื่อเปิดออกดู มันเป็นหนังสือเล่มเดียวกับเมื่อวันก่อนที่เราเจอมันข้างบน  ทีมงาน 2-3 คนที่เห็นถึงกับอึ้ง  แต่ไม่ได้เอ่ยปากทักเรื่องแปลกที่เกิดขึ้นนั้นเลย 

ช็อทสุดท้ายถ่ายเสร็จสิ้นที่ริมชายหาดพร้อมกับแสงแดดอ่อนๆ  ทีมงานทยอยเก็บข้าวของ บางส่วนก็โอ้เอ้ถ่ายรูปเป็นที่ระลึก  กว่าที่รถคันสุดท้ายจะแล่นจากไป  แสงสุดท้ายก็หายไปจากขอบฟ้าแล้ว ชายหาดกลับมาสงบนิ่ง มีแค่เสียงคลื่นเบาๆ ในความมืด 

เมื่อคืนเรากลับมาเลี้ยงปิดกล้องที่โรงแรมที่พัก ทีมงานโดนจัดสรรแยกเป็นส่วนๆ  ในการเดินทางกลับกรุงเทพฯ  บ้างก็ออกเช้าตรู่ บ้างก็ออกสาย บ้างก็ไปที่ภูเก็ตเพื่อขึ้นเครื่องบินกลับ เราออกเดินทางต่างเวลากันแต่เรามีจุดมุ่งหมายเดียวกัน เรากำลังเดินทางกลับบ้าน

สถานที่อย่าง สะพานไม้แขวนข้ามคลอง , เหมืองเก่า , ตลาดกลางคืน , ทุ่งนาหลังโรงแรมร้าง , โรงแรมหลักเมือง ฯลฯ ผู้คนอย่างอาเจ็กและป้าหมี ที่โรงแรมหลักเมืองพังงา , แก็งค์มอเตอร์ไซด์ , กลุ่มเด็กนักเรียน ฯลฯ ที่อยู่ในความทรงจำของเราจะผุดขึ้นมาให้นึกถึงว่าครั้งหนึ่งเราเคยใช้ชีวิตช่วงสั้น ๆที่เมืองเล็กๆ Wonderful Town

ที่เมืองเล็กๆแห่งหนึ่งทางภาคใต้ของไทย เป็นเมืองแห่งความเศร้า ตั้งแต่ที่เกิดเหตุสึนามิ ผู้คนก็ไม่มีงานทำ ไม่มีอะไรให้ทำซักวัน วัยรุ่นขี่มอเตอร์ไซค์ เล่นสนุ๊กเกอร์ และเมาเหล้า คนแก่เล่นหมากรุก นั่งบ่นและนึกวันดีๆในอดีต

วันหนึ่ง คนแปลกหน้ามาที่นี่ เขาชื่อต้น เป็นเซลแมน มาเช่าห้องในโรงแรมที่เจ้าของชื่อนา ลูกสาวของคนในเมืองนี้ พวกเขาเริ่มความสัมพันธ์กันอย่างลับๆ แต่ผู้คนก็รู้จนได้ เมืองที่น่าเบื่อ มีแต่ความโกรธ แล้วพวกเขาก็ได้พบศัตรู คนที่พวกเขาทำลายได้

วิทย์ พี่ชายของนา เขาเป็นหัวหน้าแก๊งประจำเมือง เขารักน้องสาว และเป็นคนที่จะนำเมืองนี้ทำลายคนแปลกหน้า เหมือนเด็กที่ชอบฆ่าสัตว์เลี้ยงของตัว โดยไม่เข้าใจว่า ทำไมเขาถึงรู้สึกอย่างนั้น รู้เพียงแต่ว่า เขาทนไม่ได้ที่จะเห็นคนอื่นมีความสุข

หนังเรื่องนี้ เกี่ยวกับความรักที่เติบโตในที่ที่ไม่มีความรักอีกแล้ว เหมือนดอกไม้ที่โตในตม และทั่วทั้งเมืองก็พยายามทำลายความงามที่เมืองนี้ไม่มี แล้วเมืองนี้จะมีความสุขกันอีกครั้งได้ไหม?
