Oral Roberts finally joined the likes of Tammy Faye Bakker in the televangelist afterlife yesterday after experiencing complications with pneumonia. This would be sad if he weren’t known for lying to sick, desperate people for money. Gawker delivered a fitting obituary, detailing Roberts’ many schemes.

I agree with Gawker, that the best way to remember him is through his very own words:

“The vagina. Only one organ made can bring forth life. It’s the male organ. It’s not, in lesbianism, for the tongue of a female goes into the vagina of another female. It’s not in the male, where the male organ goes into the part of the body where the… the waste matter comes out of the body as poison, and he penetrates that part of the body in homosexuality. It’s not to be put in the mouth of the man, or the mouth of the man or the woman…. It is the male organ, penetrating the vagina of the woman, the male and the female.”

Well, just another reason why I love reading the work of one of the editors at Wonkette.

This about sums up how I feel about the kind of Christians who give everything “up to Jaysus” to solve, or who spend time confessing and mourning their own actions. The Sin Addicts, the ones who get high off of assigning “sin” status to things they do rather than just realizing that they shouldn’t be mean and should start being nice, the end.

The whole concept is so self-centered and pathetic, that you can just be a complete fuck-up asshole and then get on your knees occasionally with a bunch of other fuck-up assholes to cry like little babies, at the sky, begging not to be judged for the terrible things you’ve done. Tough shit! Get up and deal with it! Jesus appreciates a little bit of initiative; this mass groveling was so not his idea.

(This is not to offend those of you who enjoy your Christianity! Jesus had tons of good advice about basically not being a dick to other people. It’s sad that the only way people can conceive of a person being such a nice, decent guy is to arbitrarily assign him with universal all-encompassing magical powers that, among other things, helped him escape from a cave.)

Twilight heart-throb and South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford loved his Argentine Firecracker soul-mate so much that he abandoned his wife, kids and that annoying job (Republican leader of a slave state) just to pile up frequent-flier miles and bang his mistress with romance. But now the mean twerps at the state’s “ethics panel” have examined Sanford’s behavior and charged him with 37 crimes, hooray! But the state attorney general won’t necessarily pursue this, because come on, does he look black? (link)

Wonkette never suffers for material, but the last few months have been lacking as editor Ken Layne took off to work on a book project. No one has really mastered Wonkette’s peculiar form the way he has. His writing has a special virulence that always stuns. Ken delivered this soupçon of lunacy earlier today. Thanks Ken – and welcome back.

Over the last few days several websites and blog have received scanned pages of Sarah Palin’s

Over the last few days several websites and blog have received scanned pages of Sarah Palin’s soon to be released autobiography to their sites. So they’ve posted the pages and excerpts they’ve received to their sites.

And Sarah has reacted. But only to a few, one a local Alaskan blogger that Sarah is quite familiar with.

Several sites have posted scanned pages from the book, but originally only one little blog, which is run by someone in France was first contacted and asked to remove the pages from their site. Interesting though that this blog called itself Palingates with links to articles, documents, quote, photos and much more on subjects like Babygate, Troopergate, Dairygate, Housegate and has quite and extensive list of other gates they seem to have researched quite thoroughly. It appears Babygate has been quite the focus of late and it’s apparent that Sarah Palin has followed this blog for a long time. I guess if I were Sarah I’d be quite concerned about their thorough research too.

A little later the Alaskan blogger was sent the same e-mail.

So today on a Sunday afternoon an attorney for Harper Collins, the publisher releasing Palin’s book on Tuesday sent the following e-mail to the blog Palingates.

I act as legal counsel to HarperCollins Publishers. I have just learned that you have posted a substantial excerpt from our as yet unpublished book, Going Rogue, by Sarah Palin, on your web site. We view your posting of this excerpt as an infringement of our and Governor Palin’s exclusive rights under copyright. Accordingly, we demand that you remove it from your web site.

Christopher Goff
Senior Vice President & General Counsel HarperCollins Publishers
10 East 53rd Street New York, NY 10022
Voice: 212 207 7127
Fax: 212 207 7552

The scanned pages were removed, but Palingates also contacted other bloggers and news sites that were also posting the scanned pages or providing excerpts and none had received the same cease and desist request.

“Wonkette” has posted three full pages of the book. They even have a second post up regarding the strange harrassment of Palingates.

The “Drudge Report” has posted the content of three full pages.

On many other websites, the content of the book was discussed and extensive parts have already been published – did they all receive a letter, too?

Only one other site contacted with regard to discussing the excerpts or posting the pages.
Alaskan Blogger Celtic Diva . It might be interesting to note that the Celtic Diva is a former state employee, although not during Palin’s time. She’s very good at reading all the official documents like travel expenses, financial disclosures, ethics laws, etc. and has been on Palin’s case quite deservedly.

She has a great post on the inconsistencies of Palin’s recent financial disclosure (what she found will make your head spin), filed an ethics complaint against Palin regarding her profiting from her husband’s Artic Cat sponsorship while in the official capacity of Governor. She is still waiting on the e-mails she requested under the FOIA act, which she has been waiting over a year to receive after citizens from around the country donated the

Whatever the reason is that only these two blogs have gotten under their skin, it’s getting more attention than they probably hoped or expected.

This one is from page 225, and it pretty much confirms that this will be the greatest book in the history of life.

It also confirms that that evil Barack Obama must’ve had some kinda spy on Team Palin when he came up with the whole “change” idea. Double drats!

First, phony documents were intended to sink President Bush’s 2004 reelection. Then, phony quotations prevented Rush Limbaugh from purchasing an NFL team. Now, the Left seems to be preparing its next tall-tale transcript to smear conservative foreign policy expert Frank Gaffney. Today’s Wonkette recounts last night’s skirmish between Gaffney and Ron Reagan Jr. on MSNBC’s Hardball, which I reported earlier today. The blog claims:

Gaffney screams at Reagan, who’s like, “…” Then Reagan essentially tells Frank Gaffney that he and all his stupid arguments are red herrings, like red herrings in a barrel that you shoot easily. And then, THEN, Gaffney’s all, “Your father must hate you so hard from beyond the grave.” This displeases Ron Reagan so!

The only trouble is, all its facts and quotations are false.

Anyone who watched the segment can verify his actual words. I included a partial transcript in my blog this afternoon. Matthews and Ron-Ron ganged up on Gaffney, who was as measured and unshaken as ever. When Ron interrupted Matthews, Gaffney asked, “Let me be attacked one-at-a-time.” He told Matthews the Afghan people prefer American “occupation” (Chris’s word) to Taliban rule. Then he pivoted to Ron Reagan, asking, “Would you, Ron? Would you want to be ruled by the Taliban?” Reagan then raised his voice, claiming that toppling the Taliban was not the raison d’etre of the Afghan war (!).

Near the end of the segment, Gaffney told Reagan, “Your father would be ashamed of you.” Reagan, shorn of his tutu, replied, “You better watch your mouth about that, Frank.”

Then Chris Matthews equated religious conservatives with the Taliban and the segment ended.

I don’t read Wonkette and thus do not know if her reporting usually involves flights-of-fancy. Presumably this was intended to be funny. And faking transcripts has been a problem for MSNBC. But in in today’s poisonous atmosphere, where inventing and then ascribing hate speech to conservatives is the Left’s lone stock-in-trade, it’s almost impossible to imagine this phony quotation not being recycled to hurt Frank, listing her blog as a “source.” Caveat lector.

So I haven’t commented on the whole interracial marriage fiasco in Louisiana because really, w

So I haven’t commented on the whole interracial marriage fiasco in Louisiana because really, why bother when there’s Seth Meyers:

“A judge in Louisiana denied a marriage license for an interracial couple saying ‘I’m not a racist, but I don’t think the races should be mixing.’ Here’s a tip to all racists: don’t deny being a racist and then defend it with the definition of racism.”

Also, other news…like balloons!

Then of course there’s perennial embarrassment to the United States Senate, State of Louisiana, and the United States of America, Senator (WHY?) David Vitter.

In my Google search bar as I type in David Vitter the first suggestion is David Vitter diaper. If you’re wondering why, click here.

He’s under fire for not refusing to comment on the whole brouhaha which is being taken by a contingent on the left as evidence that he’s not down with interracial couples.

So a couple of thoughts, there’s probably a fair chance he isn’t but at this point there are so many documented reasons not to like David Vitter, I’m not sure why we need a rumored one.

His Democratic challenger for 2010, Charlie Melancon has released a statement calling for the judge to resign. Which leads me to a different, serious point.

Essentially, Vitter is being attacked for refusing to say anything on the subject, or more accurately the right thing.

In general, I don’t like taunts that take absence of evidence to the contrary as proof. “He hasn’t denied it, so it’s TRUE!” It’s childish and lazy indictment. Though the bigger question is why he or Senator Landrieu are even asked to comment on the story in the first place. This is an upsetting, embarassing episode prompted by a local official of state government. This has nothing to do with the United States Congress or Louisiana’s representatives to the national legislature.

I don’t begrudge Melancon for releasing a statement, it serves a purpose and is fair game. I just don’t think everyone has to comment on every story of national notoriety. What does the President think of Balloon Boy? I don’t care. What does Senator Kerry think of that annoying Boston couple getting kicked off the Amazing Race? Again, don’t care. Senator Feinstein and Octomom, yeah, still not caring.

If the State of Louisiana was in the habit of denying interracial marriage licenses, well that would be more relevant but this is one sad little guy and one episode of national and state embarassment.
