Like Wordle, Tweetcloud is a great representation of what’s been on my tweeting mind.

Have you created Wordles but been frustrated by the fact that you want to include phrases such as body language or young learners etc?  If so try adding a tilde (~)  sign between the words  e.g. young~learners.

I have developed a fantastic network of upper elementary educators.  We VC with our classes, share ideas, and of course work on projects together.

Our latest project is the idea of Zoe Branigan-Pipe, from Hamilton, Ontario.  We work together all the time.  I met Nathan Toft and Jane Smith in Brazil.  After the trip they met Zoe in person in Toronto and commented how much we were alike.  It’s funny how people are drawn to working together.

We built a collaborative Animoto project with three other classes based around the Ben Harper song, “With My Own Two Hands”

Each class listened to the song and created visual representations of what they heard.  My students loved it.  They commented that the felt like listening to the song and working with the lyrics felt like looking at a poem (and light bulb moment!!).  It was their idea to turn the lyrics into a wordle!   We tied it in with Remembrance Day.  It was a great way of starting a discussion on war, remembrance, change, and peace.

We worked with:

Mrs. Branigan-Pipe’s Grade 5/6 from Hamilton, Ontario
Mr. Poluck’s Grade 5/ from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

This amazing site will change any blog you type in into a lovely word cloud, it’s genius! I’m completely addicted.

I’m obsessed, just saw this on the Dedicated Follower of Fashion Blog and now I’m just trying to find new blogs to make word clouds for, hehe, it’s SUCH fun!

There’s not much news to tell (at least not much in the way of positive news lately), so I thought I’d mention a couple of neat websites I’ve come across recently. The first one is Wordle. Essentially, it takes a piece of writing and creates an interesting combination of the words. Words used more frequently are supposed to be larger. This image was from this blog’s RSS feed. You can adjust the colors, the fonts, and the design. Recently, our Career Services department used this with students’ resumes to see what key words they were emphasizing. -A neat use, I think.

The other site I found via Lifehacker is Shape Collage. It takes your photos and creates interesting collages into any shape you want. (You can even create your own shapes by using a “draw” function.) The only drawback I see is that it doesn’t allow you to move the pictures around manually. If you want to do that, I think Google’s Picasa is still the way to go. If that’s not a concern for you, the sky is the limit on how you can shape your collages. Here is a link to the video posted on the site which gives you a good overview of its capabilities. And here is a quick one I put together with some recent pictures of my niece.  In addition to using this online, you can also download an application to your computer.

Both of the sites are free and very user-friendly. Have fun!

Just ran across this tool called Wordle. It enables you to generate word clouds based on pieces of text that you paste into the online tool. The resulting image is Creative Commons licensed to you, though the program/code it runs on is not under a CC. More info on the page. Here is an example Wordle cloud I created from my research blog:

Non so con che criterio wordle.net abbia estratto queste parole, ma non fa niente. E’ un gioco troppo simpatico. E sicuramente applicato ad altri campi può essere anche utile.

My mother got after me for my Lingerie Football League post yesterday (Hi, Mom!). So after reading the LeeHaven Lady’s post this morning where she talked about wordles, self discovery and wise choices, I decided to see just how off topic and out of focus I have gotten lately and Wordle my blog (yes, wordle is a verb *g*). Wordle looks at your blog (or any document) and creates a word cloud, the more you use a word, the larger that word appears in your wordle.

Kim. really. find. just. little. right. one. minutes. I think mother is right, I am a bit off topic and out of focus. What say we make a few cozies after class tomorrow, Mommie?

So I’ve been struggling with what to talk about on Fridays. Generally, I’m pretty burnt out from work, and can’t use my creativity to it’s fullest potential. Last week, I tried to suggest things to do in Seattle over the weekend, and got zero hits… Bummer. I can’t say I blame you. So I thought I’d try something a little more lighthearted and analyze my week’s worth of writing. No, I don’t plan to agonizingly summarize everything I did – again – but I will give you a wordle! A wordle is a topic cloud that takes all the words in a section of text (in my case, the last week’s blog posts) and breaks them down by words. The words that appeared most frequently in my writing are the biggest, etc. Thanks to my friend Melissa at www.DuolyNoted.com for reminding me just how much I do love Worldes (it’s my fave category at our weekly trivia night).

Hoy les presento un ejemplo de inclusión de TIC a nivel curricular en el área Lengua Extranjera. El proyecto  fue realizado por los estudiantes de 5to año de la E.E.T N° 410 Fray Luis Beltrán, junto a su profesora Marcela Chimentón.

Tema: Voz Pasiva.

El trabajo consiste en:

Aplicar variadas herramientas TIC para motivar el aprendizaje del contenido Voz Pasiva, dando autonomía al estudiante para interiorizar la temática a través de un tour por lugares geográficos que les gustan, seleccionar un monumento, investigar en torno al mismo,   trabajando la información seleccionada en voz pasiva.

Ingeniería de recursos implementada:

* Investigar en la Web información en variados formatos del monumento elegido. Elección del monumento histórico a cargo del alumno.
* Utilización de buscadores.
* Implementación del bloc de notas para guardar la info.
* Uso de traductor on line.
* Power point.
* Correo electrónico.
* Herramientas Web 2.0.

Accede a la nube de  etiquetas creada con la herramienta Wordle, que muestra los contenidos y herramientas TIC utilizados en la experiencia.

I’m preaching on the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30) to conclude our series on stewardship.  Just to see what would happen, I created a wordle out of my manuscript.  I think it turned out OK, actually. Click on the image to see the larger view.

“Attention Deficit” is easily one of the best albums this year. All killer tracks. “Diary” is definitely one of my faves. Check it out:

So the first time I heard “Diary”, I instantly thought of my current relationship. My boyfriend is amazing, but I have a lot of baggage from a random assortment of past relationships. He deals with it with grace and love, but I am so sure that I try his patience sometimes with my inability to believe that things just really are this perfect and he really is just that wonderful.

The first time we were in his car and this song came on, he said, “This is you” and left it at that. No other words. So I read the words of this song, and now I have a whole different aspect on him and on our relationship. I know this may sound lame, but I hope that this song has touched more hearts than just mine.

Here are the lyrics:

This pain she inherited can’t be reversed. I can’t even stay living in the shade of all the motherfuckers who played you. The irony in that is that I aint even that, but you coulda been these pages.

See all I wanna do is be relevant. Just tell me that I ever meant anything or, that you could ever see me and you in another light. But its like the dark women endures  the darkest nights by the wrong man. See all of them have made you incapable of a first impression. What it do is I channel my aggression with no cable or antenna, just intentions to impress you if capable. Hoping that the material possesions can materialize to a better you. Cars, nothing I drive can drive you out of this state of mind for such an ugly picture and money, nothing I buy can buy more time for your ears to tell your heart to listen to it. Diamonds, a girls best friend is what they say but believe me with the right allegiance shorty you gonna shine anyways, and everyday that goes by is a couple more lines in her diary. The day before is better than the present, so anyone presented in her presence is doing these life sentences. There’s no key for release, no reason to be around. Her mind’s in the clouds She writes it all down in her diary.
