Good Luck

For anyone who knows me, it’s painfully obvious of how uncoordinated I am. Which means that I literally have issues walking and chewing gum. I fall quite often, and have seriously twisted my ankle three times in the last six months; two of those times were within a month. When I was a little girl my parents tried absolutely every sport they could think of, hoping that I would be at least capable of playing. But no. Nothing. On the other hand, my brother can look at a sport and know instantly how to play it.

So when I was 18, we went to Vail, Colorado for Christmas. I wanted to learn how to ski, since if you live in Colorado, you really should know how to ski. We rented all the equipment, got to the top of the ski lift, got off the ski lift, and then I froze. I was extremely scared of skiing, of going down the hills, of falling into the snow. So even though I only stayed on the catwalks, it was still too scary. For anyone who hasn’t skied, the catwalks are basically what you use to hike up the mountain, only with snow. So my brother threw a giant fit when I wouldn’t ski. And I mean literally threw a fit, he threw himself to the ground and was hitting the snow, yelling about how the snow doesn’t hurt.

Cardstock is DCWV, mat for the large photo is actually from Sizzix, words were cut onto Bazzill using my Making Memories Slice and the Words & Expressions card. I used my real red ink to distress the edges of the large photo mat.

Odds and Ends

The little girl next door is continually coming over to ask if the boys can play. And she is constantly ringing on the doorbell, which wakes up my boys when they are napping. So I made a sign to put on top of the doorbell. I’ve told her several times but she just goes right back to it.

And then I made a quick card while I had the time. I cut out a few sentiments using my Words and Expressions card and an alien from the Big Kids design card. The edge on the card is from the always pretty Stampin Up, as is the bit of ribbon. I used my Signo white and gold pen, along with a Sakura gelly roll to add little spots of bling in the circle cut outs of the word Joy. I used a small hole punch to add a little variety to the words.

I mailed off my package of cards for Royal Family Kids Camp last week. This is the last group of cards that I made.

I used my Slice to make the die cuts for the cards. I used the Big Kids card and the Words & Expressions card for the sayings. For the shapes, I used a Zig pen to outline them since they were pretty plain.

It was great to use up my scraps of paper and I got to use up one of my favorite ribbons, by American Crafts. I love the stripes, it just makes me happy!

For the splashes, I used my Sizzix die cut machine. I have a medium sized Originals die that I cut out something for quite a while ago. This is the negative for that cut. I had saved it since I knew it would look cute on a card someday!

Summer Frame

This is the center of a frame I altered. I don’t know if I like how it is or if I want to add to it.
I might add another word on top of Summer. It would be Enjoy or Carefree. The Summer word is a die cut from the Making Memories Words and Expressions card cut out on the Slice machine. If I use the word Carefree it will also be from the Words and Expressions card but if I use the word Enjoy, I’ll use the Basic Elements card that comes with the machine.

I love this stamp from Stampendous. I am course a huge fan of Changito the Monkey but I also love how they are blowing bubbles. I have quite a few pictures of my kiddos playing with bubbles that I can’t wait to scrap and this stamp will be included! I used little bubble stickers to make some of the bubbles dimensional.

The flower is a cut out from a piece of patterned paper from Die Cuts With a View. It’s in their Fun in the Sun stack. It is a pretty line and there are quite a few pages that can be used on masculine pages because of the ‘surfer’ theme.

Creating Words in English!

In Avanzado 2, people are creating words at our Workshop of Word Formation resources in English. We are using 3 handouts dealing with affixation, conversion, compounding and various other resources.
Anybody who reads this is welcome to post the words they make up in English! (Remember to say what name you wish to use to be quoted as an author, and the level you are in.) You need to post: 1. the word(s) you made up, 2. it’s definition(s) and 3. some examples of how to use it in context.
It’ll be exciting, good for your English and then we’ll collect them all to create a webpage on Word Formation and Lexical Creativity at the EOI Getafe English Department Students’ Corner section!

Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody

This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
