Divabetic “It must have been cold there in my shadow” is what it looks like Anne Hathaw

Divabetic

“It must have been cold there in my shadow” is what it looks like Anne Hathaway could have been singing on Oscar night. The wind was definitely beneath her wings that night judging from her nipples. Now she’s issued a formal apology about her 2013 Oscar dress. No, not for the distractingly perky nipple-area around the bust of her Prada gown. Anne is apologizing for not wearing Valentino.

In an exclusive statement to People, Anne said:

It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans.Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret any disappointment caused.

The statement comes on the heels of much fashion industry chattering over Anne’s choice of designer. As the Oscars red carpet kicked off on Sunday evening, tweets implied she’d be wearing Valentino, an expected choice seeing as she and Valentino are close personal friends.

But she ended up choosing Prada, prompting plenty of speculation and an eventual conclusion: her chosen Valentino dress looked too much like Amanda Seyfried’s Alexander McQueen Oscars gown. A source told Us Weekly that Hathaway switched after Seyfried sent her a photo of her dress before the event.

Head to People.com to read more about the whole Prada/Valentino shenanigans. Think the last-minute dress switch warranted a formal statement from Anne?

If you were not watching the Academy Awards this past Sunday to see what movies and actors won award

If you were not watching the Academy Awards this past Sunday to see what movies and actors won awards, you were watching it for the amazing fashions on the red carpet! The oscars are one of the few special nights out of the year that everyone in the industry has the most incredible excuse to dress up in beautiful dresses and dashing suits.

Here are my best dressed of the night!

Jessica Chastain looked absolutely perfect in Armani Prive. This dress was completely covered in light pink beads over a light copper fabric. The fit was perfect and I love the sweetheart neckline on Jessica. Her hair and make-up were beautiful, as she was going for an “old- hollywood” look.

Amy Adams looking flawless in Oscar de la Renta. I cannot get over how beautiful this dress looks on the red carpet! I am loving the muted grey chiffon color, along with the silhouette of this dress. It has a sweet, yet edgy vibe that almost reminds me of a modern day Cinderella. Amy’s hair looks great pulled up and I think her simple make- up works perfectly with this dress.

Naomi Watts rocked this Armani Prive dress! I love the sparkle in this darker grey color. And lets just talk about how insanely cool that cut out is! Although the strapless look was trending on the carpet this oscars, I am obsessed with this neckline. Because this dress is so eye catching, Naomi did the right thing by pulling her hair back and having minimalistic make- up.

Charlize Theron looked absolutely stunning in Dior Couture. I love how the all white look is so dramatic against that red carpet, and with the right dress it makes such a statement. I can’t think of a better adjective other than “super cool” when describing this look. The neckline, the hint of peplum, the color, and the little bit of embellishment; it is just amazing! And her hair, or should I say lack of! She pulls off the pixie cut so well it’s not even funny. I cannot get over how extraordinary she looked!

Here are my worst dressed!

Anne Hathaway in Prada. I hate to bash on Anne, since I have so much love and respect for her, but this dress is awful. The color is nothing special, the neckline looks dated, and the pleating on her bust could not look worse. She did not need to wear any necklace, let alone the chocker she wore (it is too close to the neckline of the dress). I believe that I can speak for many when I say that I wish she would not have changed her mind from the original Valentino she was planning on wearing.

Kerry Washington in Miu Miu. I love the color of this dress, but I cannot seem to look past the embellishments on the bust and the bow around the waist. Personally, I think those extra touches make this look cheap and tacky, rather than expensive and beautiful.

Now I want to know who your best and worst dressed were!! Let me know by leaving a comment below!

Xoxo

Pretty, yes. Beautiful, yes. Stunning, yes. The Oscars: the time of the year to fantasize over all

Pretty, yes. Beautiful, yes. Stunning, yes.

The Oscars: the time of the year to fantasize over all the gorgeous gowns that these amazingly talented actresses wear for one night only. We like to see you at your best whether its with perfectly tousled hair or a sleek up do to dramatic make up, and of course a beautiful gown that separates you from everyone else. This is the time for me, you, and anyone else who appreciates film and fashion to obsess and fantasize about the expensive, brand name gowns that we want, but just don’t have a place to wear them to (yeah, that’s our only problem…).

Yay or nay time!

Here are my favorites, but you tell me if you agree or not!

Above from left to right, Kerry Washington in Miu Miu, Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton, and Nicole Kidman in Balenciaga.

I thought these ladies looked ravishing in these numbers. The coral tone of Washington’s dress was light and fresh – a perfect direction for Spring! I especially loved the bow, yet I wasn’t a fan of her middle parted hair. I though since her accessories were more toned down and simple, that she could have done more with her hair. On the other hand, Reese Witherspoon had the best hair of THE NIGHT! And for just having a baby, I mean I’m 22 and this woman has a better body than me even AFTER she’s had a baby! I was a big fan of this one, the color was gorgeous, and the design of the black paneling on the sides to make her appear slimmer was a smart choice. Lastly in this category, I have been a big fan of Nicole (& seriously she’s my mom’s doppelgänger, but besides that…) I thought she looked great in this. It wasn’t my all time favorite dress, but it sparkled enough, loved the mix of gold and black tones, and her body looked amazing.

Above from left to right, Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji, Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta, and Channing Tatum.

Octavia Spencer’s gown was flattering to her body type as well that the tone of the dress was flattering to her skin coloring. It was soft and whimsical while still looking elegant for the Red Carpet. Then in Oscar de la Renta, Amy Adams looked stunning and like a princess in this silver-grey ball gown. As a nominee, this dress gave her the much anticipated drama that she needed, and although this is a big dress on a small woman – the dress still flowed lightly over her. And of course, how could I leave him out of best dressed? Channing Tatum looking dapper as ever on the Red Carpet. I enjoyed his dance with Charlize Theron, but I liked his shoes during his presentation the best!

Above from left to right, Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture, Stacy Keibler in Naeem Khan, and Charlize Theron in Dior.

I loved everything about Jennifer Lawrence on Oscar Sunday from her hair to her dress and her accessories. She looked stunning in this mermaid-like gown. I enjoyed the manner in which she styled her necklace, draping it down her back. And although she stumbled on her way to the acceptance speech, she stumbled with elegance, keeping her cool the entire time and even joking about it at the microphone. By far one of my favorite dresses was Stacy Keibler’s studded gown by Naeem Khan. Although it looks stunning and beautiful on her, she looks just one word, cool. This is an edgy, yet elegant gown that was very different from all the rest, and I think that is why its so high up on my favorites list! When does Charlize ever look bad? Never. In this custom made Dior gown, Charlize glowed radiantly all night – an amazing gown on an amazing woman with a pixie I’m thinking of trying. The mixture of structure and free flowing material made this dress a no header for the best dressed list.

Above left to right, Halle Berry in Marchesa, Naomi Watts in Armani Prive, and Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive.

Ok, I know Halle Berry had the shoulder pads in and this may seem outdated, but I thought it was really just cool, almost reminiscent of Art Deco. Other than that, I thought this elongated her and had her shimmering all night through the flashes of all the cameras. She kept her accessories simple, black dropped earrings and her hair, well that’s been the same for years. Naomi Watts dazzled in metallic silver; not only was this a flattering fit for her, but along with the metallic tone this dress also had an asymmetrical neckline that stood out against the strapless dresses galore. Lastly, Jessica Chastain was drop dead gorgeous in this Armani Prive gown (& no I am not biased towards redheads because I am one, but maybe). However, I didn’t find that this dress photographed well, while watching the red carpet and her presentations her body looked stun-ning and the beading shimmered in just the right way. I also appreciate a fellow fair skinned gal, and this color of the dress did not wash her out instead it enhanced her fair skin and red hair!

Here are my least favorites, but you tell me if you agree or not!

Above left to right, Kristen Stewart in Reem Acra and Amanda Seyfried in Armani Prive.

Well, I don’t want to come of biased since I’m not a huge fan of Kristen Stewart (those Twilight movies were just horrendous), but I was not digging anything about her ensemble on Sunday night. I’m not a fan of the dress, I didn’t find it flattering or show stopping in anyway she has had much better dresses at premiers or other events, but her hair was completely a mess. I can understand being low maintenance, because that’s how I am when it comes to my hair, but my god woman you’re at the Oscars! Then she had one flat on, one heel, and crutches… why is this outfit so chaotic? Choose a shoe and its matching pair. That’s it. Then I’m so sad to say Amanda Seyfried was also on my worst dressed, I didn’t mind the dress so much, but the color. I thought this tone completely washed her complexion. So sad to see.

Above left to right, Helen Hunt in H&M and Anne Hathaway in Prada.

Helen’s concept of wearing a dress that could be affordable to most of us average ladies was very much appreciated however, it was the wrong selection for the Oscars. While she was walking the Red Carpet, you could see each and every wrinkle from her drive over. For an event like this, it’s better to go for quality since you are being photographed every step of the way from your car door to the entrance of the building. And finally, there is Anne. I am in love with her hair, so that was good. However, I think she was styled COMPLETELY wrong – the necklace she was wearing did not work at all with the dress especially in the back. Every ripple from the seam could be seen and although we can’t see it here in this picture the back was a bit messy as well. She has a beautiful figure, so showin off her back was a lovely idea, but the bow in the back looked sloppy and un-bow like. Not to mention, we could see her nipples.

Well yay or nay, what do you think of my choices? As always, I’d love to hear what you have to say as well!

xo Allie

The women of the red carpet dressed to impress Mr. Oscar on Sunday night. So, I decided to do my best/worst dressed list differently this time around. I thought I would list the things I liked and didn’t like about each dress. I gave a little input here and there on Oscar night if you were following on Twitter, but I’ll go a little more in depth here.

Obviously, there was one person who got it completely right, and she looked absolutely flawless. I think we can all guess who I’m thinking of… Jennifer Lawrence.

She looked stunning in Dior Haute Couture. Her makeup, hair, and accessories went perfectly with the gown. I loved the necklace hanging loose in the back. I loved the big skirt. It was perfect for the Oscar winner’s big night.

I’m not going to stop there. My obsession with her has obviously grown since Sunday night. I mean who could possibly hate her after these memorable moments?

I guess I should move on from here…

Amy Adams looks beautiful in her Oscar de la Renta gown.

She, as well as many others, walked the red carpet in a softer hue. That pastel trend we have discussed many times was definitely evident on the red carpet Sunday. I am a big fan of the big skirts especially when it comes to nights like the Oscars. It’s your chance to look like a princess, and Amy Adams definitely knows how to play that role.

Next, we have the beautiful Jessica Chastain looking gorgeous in Armani Prive.

Her whole look screamed old Hollywood glamour, and I loved it. Her gown fit her perfectly. Her soft sleek curls were perfect for the look she was going for, and most of all, I love the fact the she rocked bold red lips. It was the perfect touch to complete her outfit.

Anne Hathaway wore Prada last minute, and it was so unfortunate.

She was supposed to be wearing Valentino that night (the dress on the right), but there was concern that it would look too similar to her Les Mis costar Amanda Seyfried’s gown. I feel like that’s a little unfair because this was Anne’s night. She was the Oscar winner here, so she should have been able to go with her first choice. But I understand why she had to change last minute. It just sucks because her red carpet reviews would have been A WHOLE LOT different if she had went with her original choice. However, I will say that I loved her accessories, and I especially loved her hair. She’s gotten a lot of Audrey Hepburn comparisons, and I can totally see that.

So you guys can easily compare, I’ll talk about Amanda Seyfried next.

She wore a beautiful Alexander McQueen gown Sunday night. Another soft hue we saw on the red carpet that night. Her hair looked great. I’m still not sure how I feel about her eyeshadow matching her dress. I think I would have liked something nude for her eyeshadow with the right eyeliner to really make her eyes pop. I know a lot of people have said she has outdone herself yet again, but I have to say I loved the Zac Posen dress she wore at the SAG awards more. I hate when she wears colors that wash her out. I think she looks better when she goes for bolder colors.

Next, we have Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture.

She looked very chic and modern in her gown. She is too beautiful. She’s even rocking the 7-year-old boy haircut.

Zoe Saldana wore Alexis Mabille Couture.

I love and hate things about it. I love the top and bottom of the dress, and I can even get used to the belt. I really don’t like the bow. It’s too much. Otherwise, it was a gorgeous gown.

Kerry Washington looked stunning in Miu Miu.

FINALLY, someone went vibrant! I love the bold color choice. It’s a gorgeous gorgeous gown. I’m obsessed with it. The only thing I think she should have changed were her shoes, and she should have put her hair up. Okay, so that’s two, but still…SUPER OBSESSED with the dress.

Sally Field. SALLY FIELD. Who is a fan of Sally Field? This girl right here. She looked STUNNING in vintage Valentino.

I love the bold red. I love the sleeves. I just love her. She looks gorgeous. She’s like Jane Fonda, she never ages. She looked beautiful.

Another beauty in red, Jennifer Aniston. She wore Valentino as well.

She just makes it look too easy. She looked gorgeous on Sunday night. I can’t really say I hate anything about her dress or her hair or anything!

In my opinion, everyone brought their A game. Obviously, there is always going to be some misses, but I felt there wasn’t really a need for a best and worst. I’ll let the others categorize everyone.

What did you guys think of all the red carpet fashion this year? Who would you put on your best and worst dressed list? Let me know!

Until next time..

xoxo

Does this woman EVER learn?? I don`t think so! She is on my Worst dressed list- as always. You know what Helena take my advice and use at least a small portion of that money that you earn for a good cause, to invest it in yourself for ONCE! And, you just don`t go to the OSCAR`S dressed LIKE THAT!!…No no…. Besa

The culmination of all of the awards show mania swept millions of viewers hearts away, just like Argo swept up all of the awards. The Oscars are alway known as the pinnacle of awards season fashion, and rightfully so. Daring risks are taken, and pulled off fantastically, or in some cases flop-tastically. Click through to see my top 5 most, and least, favorite starlets of the night. All photos are provided by Getty Images thankfully.

Worst Dressed

5.) Nicole Kidman in L’Wren Scott. Okay I have to give her credit because this bedazzled, jeweled, and sequined, gown must have weighed a ton on her. But just like I listed, there is so much going on that it doesn’t work. The Oscars are evening of elegance and class, one should not show up shiny like an oil spill.

4.) Anne Hathaway in Prada. She may have won almost every award she was nominated for, but she has also had enough wardrobe malfunctions to match. The seams that end right on her nipples are something that should have been caught by her stylist, Rachel Zoe. Also, I don’t know if her necklace is being intentionally worn backwards, or if this was just a flub, but either way nothing worked. After having worn stellar couture all awards season long, this left me unsatisfied.

3.) Salma Hayek in Alexander McQueen. The main issue with this dress is that Hayek does not have a long enough neck for the collar, and it is a collar that is so heavy that it just overwhelms her. The monochromatic velvet minimalises her curves, which are something that should be accentuated.

2.) Melissa McCarthy in David Meister. The Bridesmaids star could stand to invest in a stylist, or a better one. The dress is not all flattering on her, it in fact makes her look larger then she really is. There is too much extra fabric bundled up, making her look disproportionate. Finally the windswept and blown-out hair makes her head look large and deformed. Not good.

1.) Helen Hunt in H&M. I am sorry, but you do not show up to the Oscars in a brand like H&M. Especially when you have dozens offering you money to where their gowns. There are plenty of eco-friendly design houses, that you shouldn’t be sacrificing quality with an H&M gown. On top of that you are wearing over $700,000 worth of jewelry, you shouldn’t be having a designer dud issue.

Best Dressed

5.) Queen Latifah in Badgley Mischka. She has an understated elegance, that exudes class. A great turn for the star if you ask me, really sets her in as a fashion icon, not just a rapper turned movie star. The white, against her dark skin, makes her look down right angelic.

4.) Halle Berry in Versace. A beautifully constructed gown, with so many subtle details in it. From the shoulder pads, to the plunging cut revealing just the right amount of boob-age. The vertical lines elongate her, while the horizontal ones emphasize her curves. Versace made a truly beautiful gown that is edgy enough for the Bond-Girl that she is.

3.) Jennifer Lawrence in Dior. It is so perfect that she is the face of Dior’s SS 2013 Handbag collection. It’s because of this that she is clothed by Dior at every awards show. This is no exception, she stuns in this pale pink gown. It fits her perfectly, highlighting her in all the right area. While simple, it also commands presence, just like she does as an actress.

2.) Sandra Bullock in Elie Saab Couture. This slim, curve hugging, gown shows off Bullock’s assets. The detailing of the beading is flawless, and reminiscent of another time. Simple hair, makeup, and accessories, let the dress and the actress wearing it shine. Everything about this works so very well.

1.) Michelle Obama in Naeem Khan. I know I shouldn’t count her because she technically wasn’t there, in fact she appeared via satellite from the Governors Ball.. But she looked absolutely flawless. The gown is the perfect fashion-step forward for her, reminding us that she has impeccable style. Subtle accessorizes let the metallic gown shine on its own.

First of all, a huge congratulations to all the winners! This years Oscars was by far one of my favourites!

Every year that I’ve watched any award show, I’ve liked making my own best and worst dressed lists, and I figured that this year, I’d publish my list on here to share with you all. So without further ado, here we go!

BEST DRESSED

My favourite dress of the night was Amy Adams’ gown by Oscar De La Renta. I absolutely loved the bodice with the silver sequining matched with the soft grey ruffle skirt. Oscar De La Renta is one of my all time favourite designers, especially when it comes to prom style dresses and glamorous wear.

I LOVED Jennifer Lawrence’s dress so much! I know she’s not overly feminine so I was astounded at how well she pulled off her Dior Couture pale pink ball gown. I also liked her idea of a ‘backlace’, basically wearing her Chopard necklace backwards. It added a really nice touch and made her outfit look unique.

Another dress I liked was Jessica Chastain’s nude gown by Giorgio Armani. I loved how it wasn’t over the top but still looked lovely. The pattern was subtle and the dress shimmered, giving it that wow factor.

Jennifers dress by Gucci Première made the cut for me due to the colour mainly. Personally, I thought the ruffles were a bit too big but I liked the shape of the dress overall and thought it looked very classy.

My final favourite of the night was Amanda Seyfried’s gown by Alexander McQueen. I liked the classic shape with the keyhole neckline and halter neck. The pattern was also subtle, yet eye catching. I think Amanda pulled it off brilliantly!

WORST DRESSED

For me, I really didn’t like Melissa McCarthy’s dress by David Meister. The colour nor the material really worked in her favour and I wasn’t a fan of the randomly placed jewels or the wrinkles everywhere.

Another dress I didn’t like was Nicole Kidman’s gown by L’Wren Scott. It was just too… reflective shiny and shiny. I feel like I need to wear sunglasses just to look at it! That said, I do love L’Wren Scott’s collection of day/work dresses.

Now, as painful as this is for me to admit, I really wasn’t a fan of Olivia Munn’s Marchesa dress, and Marchesa is my all time favourite designer. The bodice was decent but I don’t like how the skirt was sort of just ‘draped’ around her waist. It didn’t give it a nice shape and just looked a bit too adventurous in my opinion.

A bit controversial but I really didn’t like the Prada dress worn by Anne Hathaway. It was just too plain! One colour, no shape and in my opinion, badly sewn. It’s a shame because I know Prada is an amazing designer and they could have done so much with this dress.

And the final dress, Zoe Saldana’s Alexis Mabille Couture dress. As well as not being a fan of the boldly coloured layer that formed the train, I thought there was too much going on; the floral at the top of the dress, and then the belt and the bow at her waist. There was too much to concentrate on. If they’d stuck to just one thing, the dress would have been much more pleasant to look at.

And there we have it. What do you think? What were your favourites and least favourites of the night, and why?

Until next time!

Love always,

(Author’s note: As I couldn’t be there myself, a big thank you to Vogue for supplying pictures!)

Montreal’s J.S. Group International, owners of the Theia evening line, was hoping for an Oscar appearance for its gowns. Mary Kitchen, the former TV host at City TV and Fashion Television in Toronto, and now with CBS, wore this sunset-inspired gown. Designer Don O’Neill drew on his home town of Ballyheigue, Ireland, for the dress.

Here’s a link to my story all about J.S. and its reach for the stars, especially in the wake of the spectacular video-enhanced gown Carrie Underwood wore to perform at the Grammys.

Meanwhile, Joan Rivers declared Anne Hathaway the worst dressed at the Oscars on her fashion police show Monday night. That’s just mean. The pink Prada dress was far from perfect, with ill-fitting seams on the star’s breasts. But worst dressed? Really.

“Honorary Douchebag of the Week”- The award goes to…Entertainment Television as a whole! While I was at the gym this morning, I happened to be on a machine in front of a TV that was broadcasting coverage of the Oscars. I have some MAJOR beefs their “coverage”of the event. 1) They do not celebrate acting careers, and all the hard work that the actors have put into the films and roles they are being acknowledged for. They only care about how these people dressed on one night of the year. The Worst Dressed segment pisses me off for even existing. Is this the only way we can feel good about ourselves? By tearing others down for sport? Would it not be better to just have a Best-Dressed segment, and leave it at that? I tell you what. I am here, today, openly saying, “CONGRATULATIONS!” to those who are awarded the Worst Dressed titles, because at least they have the stones to wear whatever they wanted. and 2) A young woman who is steadily rising in popularity, and whose name and image have been dragged through the mud in relation to this one incident enough already, so I will not associate it with her, here; received her very first Oscar, this year. She was visibly shaken(understandably), and on her way up to the stage, she

From a disastrous Brandi Glanville to a gorgeous Naomi Watts, here are the best and worst dressed in

From a disastrous Brandi Glanville to a gorgeous Naomi Watts, here are the best and worst dressed in my humble, but also strong and loud, opinion.

My favorite of the night was Naomi Watts wearing Armani Privé. Asymmetrical necklines are tricky sometimes to get both breasts to look balanced (Halle Berry at the Golden Gloves anyone?) but she just look AMAZING.

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji was another favorite of mine. The dress is romantic and classic, and she looks gorgeous!

Resee Whiterspoon and Louis Vuitton. Ugh! The black panels make her hips look bigger than they are. Her hair looks beautiful though.

Jessica Lawrence. She will probably be the best dressed. Her Dior Haute Couture is pretty, but doesn’t do anything else for me.

Jessica Castain in Giorgio Armani. She is also head to head with Jennifer Lawrence for best dressed. You can tell her gown was custom-made, it fits her perfectly. Take note, Anne Hathaway people!

Zoe Saldana. This Alexis Mable Couture have so many things going on: the ombre layers, the belt, the embellishments… too much!

Oh Jennifer Gardner… The color of her Gucci dress is rich and beautiful but the straight cut make her look like an spaghetti, and from the back it looks like you pooped ruffles. Sorry!

Brandi Glanville wearing a dress she designed herself. I do not know who she is but after this, I do not need to know!

Halle Berry in Versace, Stacy Keibler wearing Naeem Khan and Amanda Seyfried by Alexander McQueen looked all beautiful.

Kuddos to Rachel Mwanza! Yes, the bottom of dress could have been better (without ruffles perhaps?) but she kept it true to her culture and I think that is very cool.

And of course, I couldn’t finish this post and no mention Anne Hathaway. Her nipples joined Twitter last night! Enough said…

Did you watch the Oscar awards on Sunday? The whole show? And you managed to stay awake?! AMAZING

Did you watch the Oscar awards on Sunday? The whole show? And you managed to stay awake?! AMAZING!! You deserve an award. But too bad! There’s only one award that we’re handing out today… the award for the 3RD ANNUAL COCKY & RUDE OSCAR CONTEST! This year’s winner correctly predicted 20 of the 24 Academy Award categories. AND NOW … without further ado … the winner is: MR. SOMBRERO! Yippee! Hurray! Woohoo!!! Congratulations! It’s so nice that a lurker didn’t win the big prize this year! Ha! Now before you claim that I cheated and let Mr. Sombrero win the contest, let’s take a look at the results.

Here’s a chart of final scores:

And now, some fun observations! An impressive 100% of the Oscar predictors correctly chose Daniel Day-Lewis as Best Actor.

95.5% of the Oscar predictors correctly chose Anne Hathaway as Best Supporting Actress. The only contestant that incorrectly chose Sally Field as Best Supporting Actress was none other than Polt (who tied for the least correct Oscar predictions). Lolz what a dummy!

Each year we invite the contest participants to predict the Best and Worst Dressed Academy Award celebrity attendee. Since these categories are subjective, they do not count towards final scores. Here are the results for the Best Dressed category:

And the results for Worst Dressed:

That wraps up the results of this year’s Oscar Contest. Thanks to everyone who participated! Congratulations again to Mr. Sombrero! You’ll soon be in possession of a 8 packs of candy and a Blu-Ray copy of The Last Airbender. Hopefully this will not impact his BC&RL results!

So what did you think of this year’s Oscar Awards? Any surprises? Who really was best & worst dressed of the night? Comment quickly before the Jaws theme plays you off!

Hey guys, it’s Jen First off, I wanted to say how sorry I am for not posting for so long! You

Hey guys, it’s Jen

First off, I wanted to say how sorry I am for not posting for so long! You know when you have one of those days where you’re constantly running around, always feeling like you have something to do? Yeah, that’s been my past two weeks (I’m sure it’s the same for you too, Pegs!) But just the other day I finally got a moment to look at our page and saw the comments some of our followers left on our older posts, and I have to say, they absolutely made my day and inspired me to start posting more! So please, keep commenting!

Anyway…so I’ve decided to create an ongoing post theme entitled “Celebrity Fashion”. This post specifically is discussing some of the best, worst, and “notable outfits” of the 2013 Oscars.

Best Dressed Nominees

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence looked gorgeous and princess-y in her Dior Couture blush/cream strapless, drop waist gown. The dress seemed to fit her well and accentuated her figure perfectly, while the detailed pattern and shine added some visual interest to an otherwise monotone piece. She accessorized with a Roger Vivier clutch and Chopard jewelry, although she decided to wear her necklace….backwards?

As we’ll see later, this seemed to be possibly a new trend in the making because of another actress who had the same idea with her necklace. In my opinion, this unorthodox way of accessorizing actually worked well for this specific dress. The front made it seem like a short pearl necklace, and because the back was open and the necklace was thin, I think it added a unique, yet classy feel to the ensemble.

In other news, if you watched the Oscars last night, you knew that Jennifer Lawrence won for best actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. (I still can’t believe I haven’t seen that movie yet even though it got so many great reviews!) But unless you turned off the TV right after that, then you definitely caught this:

And no she’s not doing pushups

Lawrence tripped while walking up the steps to receive her award, probably on the huge poofy bottom part of her dress. But let me just clarify, I am in no way mocking Jennifer Lawrence here. In fact, I like her, she seems like a down to earth kind of person, we have somewhat similar names, and falling at the Oscars is something I would totally do.

Plus she has a great sense of humor; when a reporter asked what was going through her head as she was falling, she gave him a look, asked him what kind of question was that, and said she couldn’t say it on TV but it started with an F.

Some other beautiful gowns on the red carpet last night were worn by…

Charlize Theron in Dior Couture

Charlize incorporating the on-going peplum trend into a white, strapless Dior gown with a longer train, looked amazing. And I am so jealous knowing that her hair probably took her all of two minutes, and she still looks feminine.

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji

Octavia won an Oscar last her for her role in the amazing book-adapted-to-film The Help. Seriously, if you haven’t read that book or seen the movie, it’s definitely worth reading/watching. Octavia’s gown showed off her figure beautifully, the color was great, and the side swept shoulder fabric added such a classy vibe to her ensemble.

Sandra Bullock in Elie Saab Couture

Sandra Bullock looked sophisticated in a long, lace and beaded gown with a small train. The intricacy of the beading made the dress, in my opinion.

Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen

The Les Mis actress’ lilac colored dress went so well with her paler complexion and blue eyes. Personally, I loved the neckline on this dress and I think it fit her pretty well.

Naomi Watts in Giorgio Armani

Naomi Watts’ dress had an eye catching texture, shine, and cool neckline that looked like a combination between a crewneck, strapless, sweetheart, and one-shoulder neckline.

Notable Ensembles Nominees

These ensembles are interesting enough to be considered noteworthy, but I’m still on the fence about if I really like them or not. Tell us what you think in the comments!

Jessica Chastain in Giorgio Armani

To me, this dress was okay. I wasn’t a fan of the color, specifically with her skin tone because I felt it washed her out. Also, the sparkly, fitted, sweetheart neckline, while classic, seemed kind of boring for the Oscars.

Zoe Saldana in Alexis Mabille Couture

On the other hand…Zoe Saldana’s dress was seen as being on many website’s worst dressed list. I think this is either a love or hate kind of dress. Personally, I think I would cut the dress in half horizontally in the middle, and either work with the cute, flowery, bow and belt top, and stick to a plain bottom, or take the modern slit, multi-colored, multi-layered bottom and pair it with an equally as modern and stunning top. Although she looks great in it, the dress all together though didn’t really work.

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino

Friends star Jennifer Aniston wore a red gown on the brighter side, which was an eye-catcher, but because it was only one color and she really didn’t accessorize, it seemed kind of boring. And the sides of the dress swept out of the sides instead of traditionally back, which did add some interest, although I’m not really sure how she fit through any doors.

Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton

Reese’s cobalt blue and black color blocked dress was pretty and trendy. The only problem I had was that from the waist down it didn’t seem to fit right, and there was no necklace accessory Besides that I would have loved this dress.

Worst Dressed Nominees

Okay, so “worst dressed” seems like a harsh title, but basically, these are the outfits that I think didn’t cut it for the Oscars.

Anne Hathaway in Prada (Anyone see the irony in this one?)

Hathaway won best supporting actress for her role of Fantine in Les Miserables, but for a widely known actress, I think this dress didn’t deserve an award. The light blush color washed her already pale skin out, and seemed so plain for someone who was nominated for such a prestigious award on the red carpet. The material looked strange, and the wrinkling in the torso was unappealing. And if anyone has been following any celebrity fashion news shows, websites or even twitter, you know how everyone has been making a big deal out of the way a certain part of the dress seemed to be…well, emphasizing, a certain part of her.

Obviously this dress definitely emphasizes her eyes

They pair even started trending on twitter for a while – some of the tweets are even pretty funny. I still can’t get over whoever thought of #LesNipplerables

Oh and to get back to the backwards necklace thing…

I wonder who copied who…

Hathaway wore her Tiffany & Co. necklace backwards, and while I thought this worked okay on Jennifer Lawrence, because of the ribbons on the back of Anne’s dress, and the detail in the necklace, I don’t think this was a good choice. It just looks like me when I’m running late to class and have everything on backwards. And not on purpose.

Kristen Stewart in Reem Acra Couture

Ah Kristen Stewart…She never looks comfortable in any kind of formal evening gown, and this is no exception. While the dress was pretty, it didn’t suit her, or do her any justice. Then again, she was walking on crutches because according to her makeup artist, she sliced open the ball of her foot on glass a few days prior. The only thing she said when asked what was wrong was, “I’m an idiot”. Well at least she won two Razzies!….Oh wait.

Nicole Kidman in L’Wren Scott

I don’t know what it is about this dress, but every time I see it, I think of some trippy outerspace snails sailing through the universe, slowly climbing up her dress to get to the mothership floating in the middle of her torso. And I swear I’m not on any kind of drugs.

Helena Bronham Carter in Jessica McCormack

Just no.

And the Winner for Best Accessorized goes to…

Quvenzhane Wallis! I can’t pronounce her name but she’s so adorable! She’s also the youngest ever Oscar nominee at the age of 9, and knows just how to accessorize. Quvenzhane paired her cobalt blue dress with her Yorkie dog purse, complete with rhinestone tiara and baby blue dress.

Giorgio Armani

Charlize Theron in all white peplum by Christian Dior…this works for me in a strange way but I don’t know if its her face looking so strikingly beautiful with this short hair do..

Kerry Washington…what an absolute beauty! Wearing Miu Miu, I find this extremely flattering on her but I can’t say I love the red shoes and clutch combination

Zoe looks beautiful but I find the dress really distracting, particularly around the neckline it’s just way too busy

Salma..you have an amazing figure, your hair and make up looks fabulous..why must you ruin this with a VELVET dress

Who do you think was the best dressed at the Oscars?

Personally, I think Charlize Theron and Jennifer Lawerance stole the night. Both looking amazing. It really should be against that law to be that beautiful. And the hair, who could pull that off other than Charlize?

(FREDERIC J.
I hate to say it but I hated Anne Hathaway’s dress. Mainly because I thought it was ill fitting. And what was up with her pointed breasts. I swear she wouldn’t have been able to get through security at the airport with those things.

Jason Merritt/Getty Images

It’s the day after the Academy Awards, and whether you care about them or not, somewhere, somehow, your computer screen will be flooded with pictures of stunningly beautiful women in extensively radiant gowns. As well as the women, we mustn’t forget the over-the-top handsome men in their fashionable tuxedos. Following those, you are bound to come across some unfortunate celebrities in dresses that didn’t quite make the cut.

First off, let me start by congratulating Ben Affleck and team on winning “Best motion picture” with Argo. An amazing movie, I must say! Now, onto fashion! There were some clear top runners at the 2013 Academy Awards; Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron (that girl could walk out bald and in a garbage bag, and I’ll STILL have to pick my jaw up off the floor), but personally, there were some dresses that seem to have gotten much praise that I admittedly don’t agree with, i.e. Anne Hathaway. The back of that dress, gorgeous, and then she turns around…that front. I just found the darts were misplaced. Really? It looked like her nipples were popping out the whole time. Sorry, I just had to throw it out there. Anne Hathaway in a column dress, phenomenal! For me, it’s just that top half that seems to have hit the wrong note. Another one I couldn’t fully adapt to was Reese Witherspoon’s Louis Vuitton cobalt strapless gown. There was something about the way it sat at her hips. Along with that, I’m a huge lover of color-blocking, but I wasn’t too keen with the black strip at the top of her dress.

My preferred dresses of the night would have to go to Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, and Halle Berry (Wow!! She asked for Bond girl, and Versace delivered just that!). Did any of you stay up to watch the whole thing?? If so, what were your favourites of the night? Would love to hear what you all thought!

And now, the pictures!
