Svastika, emblema adottato dalla Germania Nazista che, nella nostra memoria, sventola ancora sulle innumerevoli bandiere nelle piazze gremite di gente affascinata ed osannante il Fuhrer, in preda a quella che Jung, in “La lotta con l’ombra” (1946), individuò come psicosi di massa:  Quando si verifica che tali simboli – mitologici collettivi che esprimono primitività e violenza- facciano la loro comparsa in un gran numero di individui, senza però venire da loro compresi, capita che incomincino ad attrarli insieme, quasi in virtù di una forza magnetica, ed ecco formarsi una massa. Un capo sarà poi trovato nell’individuo che dimostri la minor resistenza, il più ridotto senso di responsabilità, la più forte volontà di potenza. Questo scatenerà tutte le energie pronte ad esplodere e la massa seguirà con la forza inarrestabile di una valanga.- L’uso di questo simbolo esoterico come emblema della Germania Nazista è basato su teorizzazioni di vari studiosi occultisti che,  partendo dagli studi teosofici della Blavatsky ne manipolarono gli insegnamenti per raggiungere l’ideale di una unione politica di tutti i popoli di razza ariana cioè il Pangermanesimo, perpetrando una dominazione e conseguente estirpazione delle razze inferiori che ne avevano corrotto l’antica integrità. Secondo queste teorie, infatti, le forze cosmiche non possono vitalizzare corpi il cui sangue sia impuro e così attraverso la purezza razziale riconquistata, anche attraverso gli esperimenti scientifici, si sarebbe dovuta ottenere l’illuminazione collettiva espressa dal potere politico e spirituale di tutto un popolo.  Il mito di Wotan- Odino, l’antico Dio germanico guerriero e rivelatore di scienza ermetica fu la Guida ideale alla purificazione attraverso il sacrificio di sangue versato in guerra. All’interno del corpo militare delle SS, si sviluppò a questo scopo l’Ordine Nero, comandato da Himmler, setta iniziatica che usava metodi occulti per il controllo della volontà e delle coscienze. L’aspirante studiava il catechismo delle SS  e ne assimilava i precetti, tra cui il ruolo messianico di Hitler, salvatore e rigeneratore del popolo germanico, colui che avrebbe trasformato l’uomo di razza ariana pura in uomo-dio.

In contrapposizione  alle deviate teorie occulte del nazismo troviamo che il significato della parola sanscrita Svastika è conduttivo al benessere. E’ infatti uno dei simboli solari più diffusi e antichi. Appartiene a moltissime culture. Lo troviamo presso i popoli Maya,  Mongoli,  Mesopotamici,  Greci, Etruschi, Celti, Indiani d’America e in India. Alcuni studiosi ne attribuiscono la derivazione addirittura ad Atlantide. Il disegno della Svastika rappresenta il vortice della creazione che si espande da un punto centrale verso l’esterno, con rotazione destrorsa, mentre con rotazione sinistrorsa indica il ritorno all’origine, la distruzione delle forme, il Kali Yuga. Essa simboleggia  la Ruota di vita con i suoi cicli universali, le sue correnti di energia. Sintetizza in sé il segno della Croce, soprattutto quella Greca, con i bracci uguali, che rappresenta l’equilibrio tra le forze materiali e quelle spirituali, e il segno della   Spirale che nel suo significare involuzione ed evoluzione cosmica indica il cammino verso la coscienza ed il ritorno della Materia allo Spirito, del Figlio al Padre. In quest’accezione è stata a lungo considerata emblema del Cristo. Il simbolo della Svastika  in relazione alla Ruota della Legge – Dharmachakra -, che gira intorno al suo centro immobile, è anche un emblema del Buddha. Talvolta nel suo centro compare Agni, il Fuoco.

Nel simbolismo massonico, il centro della svastika raffigura la Stella Polare e i quattro gamma, cioè i bracci rotanti, che la costituiscono, le quattro posizioni cardinali dell’Orsa Maggiore, le quali sono messe in relazione con i quattro punti cardinali e le quattro stagioni. In Cina, la Svastika  è il segno del numero diecimila, che è la totalità degli esseri e della manifestazione. Una forma secondaria ma di simbologia non meno interessante è la Svastica Clavigera degli stemmi papali, che indica il potere di legare e di sciogliere in terra e in cielo conferito da Cristo a San Pietro. L’asse verticale corrisponde alla funzione sacerdotale e ai solstizi, l’asse orizzontale alla funzione regale e agli equinozi.

So… the circus came to town last week, and now it has departed in a cloud of dust and a hail of booing (some of it mine – never done that before!) amid the storms of applause.

Valery Gergiev, the Ossetian wizard, attempted the impossible – all four operas of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen in four days, with his Mariinsky company from St Petersburg (formerly the Kirov) at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

I can’t really comment on all four, since for two of them I was behind the glass, working.  But my friend Diana did come to all four and took me to the other two (thank you, D!) so I got the general idea.

Did Gergiev succeed?  No.  Over-hyped, over-conducted, mostly beautifully played;  under-cast and under-sung, with very few honourable exceptions (it does not bode well for a Götterdämmerung when the loudest applause is for the Alberich);  over-designed, over-lit, under-rehearsed;  and, above all, under-directed.

This is surely Gergiev’s fault:  my feeling is that he doesn’t think anything is important except what he thinks is important, namely his conducting and the fact that he has ‘achieved’ this impossible feat at all.  He is quoted in interviews as saying that he wants to get away from the tyranny of the opera director:  having evolved his overall concept with designer George Tsypin (master of the enormous stage-cluttering useless object:  remember the giant cracked glass bottles in his Theodora from Glyndebourne?), Gergiev proceeded to sack or alienate at least four directors along the way (including Johannes Schaaf – ‘too German’ – and Opera Factory’s brilliant David Freeman). 

Finally he has brought in a fifth director, Alexander Zeldin, who has a Russian name but is British and as far as I can tell speaks not much Russian;  worst of all, he is only 24.  With the best will in the world, nobody aged 24 can have more then the haziest notion of how to direct this Everest of the operatic repertoire, which countless directors, conductors, scholars and analysts have spent whole lifetimes trying to understand.

I fear he is not really a director, but a ‘crisis manager’ and director of traffic, brought in to salvage what is left of previous attempts to make the original concept work.  By the time we got to the end of Götterdämmerung, it was impossible to discern any attempt at understanding the piece or the drama, or even listening to the music, for heaven’s sake.  Of all composers, Wagner tells you in every bar precisely what is going on, dramatically and emotionally;  just open your ears and listen (and read his stage directions!).  And please, try sitting out front and reading the surtitles, and then you will understand why the audience sniggered at things that were clearly in the text but were not happening on stage.  Ho hum.

Gergiev’s original concept was a fascinating one:  finding parallels between the Nordic myths that Wagner drew on and his own native Ossetian Nart sagas, he gets Tsypin to fill the stage with 30-foot effigies of Nart gods, and tries to get away from conventional Teutonic readings of the cycle by finding links with other mythologies.  Well yes, fine.  But (as my boss, Judi Palmer, said) it might have been a nice concept if anyone had done anything with it.  There were interesting ideas, such as making the ‘gold’ and the ‘Rhine’ out of shimmering masses of actors’ bodies;  but these ideas were not thought through or related to Wagner’s text, so failed to take off. 

Moreover, the stage was constantly invaded by troupes of meaningless ‘supers’ who wombled about, performing mysterious rituals or generally getting in the way of the action.  No, please!  When will they ever learn? – more means less.  The more ‘extras’ you have on the stage, the more you dilute the tension and drama of the principal characters.

Talking of which, any sense of Personenregie (the meaningful psychological interaction between the characters, which is where a decent director earns his wage) was almost non-existent.  Critics complained of the 1930s silent-film arm-waving and static out-front poses (which, not incidentally, meant they were facing the prompt box) which were all that most of the singers could muster by way of ‘acting’.  Honourable exceptions again:  Wotan and Fricka in their confrontations;  Wotan and Brünnhilde (mostly) in theirs;  the character of Mime;  and once again the magnificently sung and acted Alberich (Nikolai Putilin:  Gergiev tries to make the enterprise survivable by double-casting principal roles on different nights, but Putilin got to sing all the Alberichs).

So I’m sorry, Mr Gergiev – you do need a director.  Please, engage someone who has a sense of theatre and some decent operatic experience, and a grasp of the broad picture:  David Freeman would have been good, as would David Pountney or Francesca Zambello (but please, Francesca, no supers).  Even Graham Vick or Peter Hall, who knows?  John Cox?  John Copley?

And don’t tour this production on no rehearsals (it was beyond belief that it has already been seen around the world, in the Far East, the USA and Europe, including Cardiff);  I know for a fact that at Covent Garden only Rheingold had a complete play-through, and the other three received only technical rehearsals with piano or brief top-and-tail sessions with the orchestra (and the Brünnhilde was asking the director how she should act the final scene of Götterdämmerung only two hours before the show started;  had she really never done it before?). 

And although the orchestra played their hearts out – (amazing brass and woodwind sounds particularly, but the short-measure strings were sometimes scrawny, and Wagner’s six harps would have been nice rather than two, which used to be all very well for the old Sadler’s Wells tours but is inexcusable for a major international company) – ensemble was understandably not always as precise as it should have been.  (As one of the reviewers tactfully put it, ‘The players did not seem to have this music in their blood’.) 

Gergiev’s conducting, despite occasional manic bursts of exciting fast tempi, tended towards the slow if not downright catatonic.  So often the music almost ground to a halt, with one broken phrase after another limping along between pauses – which cannot work unless you have a John Tomlinson, or dare I say Bryn Terfel, to carry a long line at such a dangerously slow pace.

I could go on, but you get the idea, especially if you have read the reviews.  Please, Mr G, don’t try this again, at least not until it has been decently directed and rehearsed.  It was really an insult to put this shambles on the stage of one of the world’s great opera houses and expect to get away with it. 

Oh, and it’s also an insult to stretch your intervals, late starts and slow tempi so that the evening ends almost an hour later than advertised – with the result that people missed their trains, audience members (including us!) had their interval dining arrangements messed up, and one ROH usher was mugged on the way home because it was so late.

What a pity.  Expectations were so high, and it could have been so good.  No use telling Valery Gergiev to slow down and take more time to put a decent show together (as Wotan says, ‘How can I stop a rolling wheel?’);  but maybe the promoters, Victor and Lillian Hochhauser, could think twice before taking so much money off so many unsuspecting punters to import this appalling mess. 

Wagner’s music (and what amazing things there are, especially in Götterdämmerung!) deserves better, and gets it in just about any other production than this one.  A depressing and infuriating experience.

The brilliant multi-genius Charles Alex Gregory had a vision for his people. It was an American Dream. The vision is enthroned in the Declaration of Independence, the right to “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”    

He was born on July 8, 1951 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. Charles came to the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Area to attend U.C. Berkeley’s Boalt Hall sometime after graduating from Tuskegee Institute in May 1972 with a B.S. in Physics.

The Bay Area is a beautiful and striking place sitting at the foot of a natural bay to the Pacific Ocean. The weather is always calm and pleasant all year round. It is one of the most diversely populated areas of the country that souls traveling through become in love with, but it has a deep dark evil side.

At its roots, Oakland remains a land of shadows and illusions, and a hidden troubling veiled background. The ante-bellum period of the old South is often considered the pinnacle of Southern aristocracy. The Southern aristocrats owned a majority of the wealth and land of the South. They have remained wealthy and the powerbrokers of the South even after their defeat in the American Civil War. The Southern powerbrokers are very visible, and in most cases able to be clearly seen.

In 1852, the City of Oakland was founded upon conceit by a bunch of lying, conniving, crooked and illusory squatters, Andrew Moon, Edson Adams and Horace Carpentier. The Spanish land grant owner, Vincente Peralta, and a band of armed rancheros found them illegally squatting on land near Jack London Square. After being herded in by the rancheros, the unsuspecting Peralta agreed to lease them what is now Oakland.

In absolute treachery and unseen deceit, Moon, Adams and Carpentier subdivided Peralta’s land grant property into lots and sold them to unsuspecting white gold rush settlers. Horace Carpentier was an immoral and fraudulent attorney that specialized in lawsuits and land grab schemes contrived to steal valuable Spanish land grants throughout Northern California.

The Peraltas subsequently lost Oakland. They had to deplete their herds of cattle and sell off large tracts of land to pay court costs to fight Carpentier’s tedious and never ending multiple illegal land grab schemes, city incorporations and lawsuits. [2]

In 1883, Sovereign Grand Commander and Confederate General Albert Pike, one of the founding fathers of the Ku Klux Klan, visited Oakland [3] to inplant his racist demonic seed and initiate and veil twelve (12) Oakland disciples into concealment in the “Luciferian Doctrine, and the Secret Doctrine.”[4] 

As part of a twisted pacification plan, even the way of the “Great Beast” found its way to Oakland. In 1976, Satanist U.S. Army Captain Grady McMurtry (1918-1985) quietly moved into Oakland at 588-590 63^rd Street and at 2820 San Pablo in Berkeley from Washington D.C to carry on a racialist (Nazi) devil worshipper legacy. [5] McMurtry appeared in Oakland at the start of the crack cocaine epidemic. He opened the Northern California Thelema Lodge of secret society Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O) in North Oakland to seed skinheads, which was raided in 1989 [6] for among other things drug trafficking, crack cocaine. The lodge’s phone number on 63^rd Street was listed to “Aleister Crowley” (The Great Beast). 

Aleister Crowley (1875 – 1947) was “The wickedest man in Britain”. The late Crowley remains one of the world’s most famous and influential Satanists of the twentieth-first century. Crowley called himself “The Great Beast”, a reference to the New Testament’s description of the Anti-Christ. Crowley’s brand of Satanism involves Nazism, drug trafficking and abuse, abductions, murder, mayhem, rape, animal and human sacrifices. McMurtry was the successor to the “Great Beast” Crowley. [7]

To this day, the lying, conniving, crooked, illusory and veiled forces at the roots of Oakland remain in power. The Oakland powerbrokers are not very visible, and in most cases cannot be clearly seen. They are extremely ruthless, and illusory. They feed upon the weak, poor, dead and the unsuspecting.

From the outside, the affairs of the City of Oakland appear normal municipal business. Oakland’s Victoria Court Development of the Oak Center Redevelopment Project on a strip of land at 14^th & Adeline Street in West Oakland seemed pretty normal urban redevelopment city business. [8]  I had a personal connection to the strip. My maternal grandparents and uncle had once occupied a downstairs unit of a grand Victorian house at the site before the mass urban redevelopment that displaced thousands of Black homeowners from West Oakland.

The Victoria Court Redevelopment Project was an interspace real estate development project. Interspace real estate development is the process to transform existing intercity vacant lots into new home/condo developments as a matter of city redevelopment policy. Gregory Construction, Inc. (Charles Alex Gregory) pioneered the concept and development within the city. It was as if the Victoria Court Project had been specifically designed for Gregory Construction. Gregory intended to build 20 to 40 affordable and low income Victorian designed concept units on the strip. Gregory had been the most respected, qualified and experienced real estate developer and building contractor in line to develop the Victoria Court Project. The ever resourceful Gregory Construction, Inc. had planned to develop and build the Victoria Court Project without city subsidies and bonding nothing beyond normal state redevelopment capital. Furthermore, the majority of the units were projected to be low-income housing units to benefit and fit the financial needs of most West Oakland’s Black residents.

One of Gregory Construction’s main competitors for the project was far less resourceful and experienced, but was a deceitful, shadowy and dangerously mob connected entity that feed upon the weak, poor, dead and unsuspecting.  

The forces at the roots of Oakland tried to veil the nature of that entity in the shadows to keep them at the pinnacle of Oakland’s deep well of redevelopment financial capital.

“I mean, no one is ever to say one kind word about niggers… The conservative isn’t against the Niggers; he just wants to keep him in his place for his own good.”  November 2, 1962: Dallas to Munich, Germany, Nazi Larry Schmidt of Americans for Freedom (YAF) and Conservatism USA (CUSA) [9]

Charles Alex Gregory had a vision for West Oakland. His vision was to transform one of the city’s most abandoned areas into an oasis of trade, industry and educational opportunity to benefit its neglected Black residents. If anyone could do it, it was Charles Alex Gregory. He saw it. Brilliantly, he had planned to finance it through existing funding resources such as state redevelopment capital, tax credits and incentives.

While Charles was boldly dreaming of a transformed West Oakland, there was other unseen forces working behind the curtain in the affairs of the City of Oakland conspiring to keep West Oakland and its residents mired in eternal poverty, crime, death, destruction and drug addiction.  

On or about June 14, 1991, a confidential reliable informant (CRI) told the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) that a white male (5’ 10”, wt. 145) was interested in buying kilograms of cocaine for distribution. The CRI had been a reliable source of information regarding Bay Area drug trafficking. SFPD decided to setup a reverse sting operation to nab the drug dealer.

The police identified the CRI as Don Holmes. Holmes told police the suspect lived in Piedmont, CA in a million dollar house. Holmes set the suspect up to purchase five (5) kilos of cocaine at $18,500 for each kilo. The suspect had told the CRI that under normal circumstances he could have no problem coming up with sufficient cash to purchase the kilos, but he was involved with a major real estate deal that absorbed most of his cash. He had just purchased 15 condos in Utah for cash. He encouraged Holmes to invest his money in the condo project.

The suspect also bragged about how he launders money through real estate investments. The suspect discussed a past relationship with a major drug dealer, who one time produced a suitcase containing twenty kilos of cocaine and how his associate was busted by the Feds and seized all his money and property.

On July 12, 1991, the suspect showed up to purchase the kilos. He said that he had two associates two blocks away to test the product. The suspect negotiated the sale at $16,750 per kilo.

When the sting was strung, the suspect fled, but was arrested after a short chase. For whatever reasons, the SFPD did not pursue the suspect’s associates for conspiracy to distribute cocaine. The suspect was taken to the SFPD Southern Station for further investigations.

Astoundingly, the suspect was only cited for two marijuana cigarettes and released pending further investigations. [10] Over a month after the suspect’s arrest, the Oakland Police Department along with SFPD executed a search warrant for the suspect’s residence at 451 Jerome Avenue, Piedmont, CA. Among other things not reported, the police found marijuana (California Health & Safety Code, §11359) and psilocybin (magic mushrooms) for sale and distribution (California Health & Safety Code, §11378).

Oakland’s “Mr. Steve” & The New York Spatola-Inzerillo-Gambino Mafia Clan

The Spatola-Inzerillo-Gambino Mafia Clan is a transatlantic mafia family, based in Palermo and New York City. In Sicily, the family clan is centered around the Inzerillo, the Spatola and Di Maggio families, while in the United States the Sicilian faction in the Gambino family is the core of the group. The Inzerillo clan hailed from the Passo di Ragano neighborhood in Palermo. They were relatives of New York City Mafia boss Carlo Gambino.

Beginning in 1984, a courageous Italian judge with the aide of an informant turncoat mafia soldier began to break the $1.6 Billion dollar Inzerillo-Gambino Mafia Clan’s international heroin and cocaine smuggling, money laundering syndicates that used pizzerias as fronts. [11]

With the cooperation of the Italian police, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), FBI, and New York City Police, Carlo Gambino’s crime family came under an intense investigation. Through wiretaps, they discovered that a West Coast functionary of the Gambino Ring was a “Mr. Steve” in the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Area.

The subsequent investigation and campaign by DEA to bust the San Francisco Bay Area-West Coast drug operations (distribution cells) of the Spatola-Gambino, and Inzerillo Palermo- New York crime families led to West Coast functionary “Mr. Steve.” Mr. Steve was Stephen Wilson, the son of Oakland Mayor and former Alameda County Superior Court Judge, Lionel Wilson.

In December 1988, “Mr. Steve” and twenty-one Bay Area criminals associated with the Spatola-Gambino, and Inzerillo Palermo- New York mob was rounded-up and busted by the DEA. [12] 

On 12/14/1988, the San Francisco Chronicle referred to Steve Wilson as a major high profile West Coast drug dealer functionary known in the inner circles as “Mr. Steve”. It also appeared that the DEA investigation was being compromised by Oakland’s Interagency Drug Council (IDC) controlled by Lionel Wilson.

In fact, San Francisco investigators were told by the Oakland Police Department (OPD) that they had no information about Mr. Steve nevertheless maintaining about ten (10) years of reliable informant reports that Steve Wilson was a major drug dealer in Oakland.

The DEA further identified Oakland’s Port of Oakland as the major U.S. entry point for “Golden Triangle” (Burma) heroin which distribution was/is primarily controlled by the New York Gambino Sicilian Mob family. [13] 

In 1988, the DEA seized cash, assets and Wilson’s home along with several other pieces of real property related to his drug trafficking industry saying that the assets had been bought with drug trafficking proceeds. Subsequently, the U.S. Justice Department was able to forfeit Wilson’s home as drug related assets in a civil suit. [14]

Mr. Steve was charged with conspiracy and attempting to pocess cocaine for sale between May and December 1988, and two counts of using a telephone to negotiate the acquisition of cocaine. He was charged with six tax violations for allegedly understanding his income to avoid more than $242,000 in federal taxes from 1986 through 1988.

At the time, Richard Held may have been one of the most powerful and notorious FBI agents only behind the director. Held was Special Agent-in-Charge of the San Francisco FBI Office from 1985-1993.  Held began his career under President Richard Nixon’s fascist-Nazi administration in 1968 in the Los Angeles office of the FBI.

He became the lead agent in the FBI’s COINTELPRO “racial matters” pacification program along with the CIA’s Project CHAOS, Nixon’s Huston Plan, and the Public Disorder Intelligence Unit, of the CCS (Criminal Conspiracy Section of the Los Angeles Police Department) to attack, expose, and neutralize “black extremists”, and pacify the left. Their overall coordinated objective was to put the Black masses into their place; in prison, virtual slavery or 6 feet below the ground.

Held was instrumental in targeting Los Angeles Black Panther Party leader Geronimo ji jaga Pratt for neutralization by framing him for murder. In a 1/28/70 memo by Held to the FBI Director, Edgar J. Hoover, he confirmed his involvement, “I request Bureau approval … to attack, expose, and ridicule the BPP… operation number one is designed to challenge the legitimacy of the authority exercised by Elmer Gerard Pratt.” Framed for a murder he did not commit, Geronimo spent 25 years in state prison. He was released in 1997 after a judge overturned his conviction based on prosecutorial misconduct. The key witness in the case, Julius Butler, was an agent provocateur and informant for Held, LAPD, and the L.A. District Attorney’s office; that information was kept secret during Geronimo’s trial.

Mr. Steve’s guardian angels, Held and Jensen, were associated with the FBI’s ultra secret counterespionage domestic intelligence department, “Division Five.” Division Five was responsible for COINTELPRO. Some sources maintain that Division Five was/is an arm of the Office of Naval Intelligence associated with the assassination of the JFK and Dr. Martin Luther King under the cloak of the Defense Industrial Security Command (DISC). [18] [19]

Division Five acts dually with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) which acts on behalf of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Pentagon. Directly under the two-pronged leadership of Division Five and the DIA is a control group, the highly secret policy agency, the DISC. [20] 

The DISC is headquartered at Muscle Shoals Redstone Arsenal in Alabama and on East Broad Street in Columbus, Ohio, which is the SECURITY DIVISION of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) that was headed by Sturmbannfüehrer SS Dr. Wernher von Braun. [21]

Fritz Gustane Anton Kraemer was a special assistant, adviser and strategist to the U.S. Army Deputy Chief of Staff of Operations (DCSOPS) at the Pentagon, [22] and the National Security Council (NSC). The NSC was patterned after Hitler’s Security Council, and its jurisdiction was to oversee the CIA by dictate of the National Security Act of 1947

The extraordinary researcher Mae Brussell identified Kraemer as the “Number One” most powerful person (Secret Team) in the United States. She suspected that he was the very same Brigadefuhrer SS Fritz Kraemer [23] who was very high up in Hitler’s regime and personally responsible for extremely strategic fascist atrocities in WWII, who as a war crimes defendant literally walked away from the Nuremberg Tribunal. [24]

Fritz Kraemer and his son, Sven Kraemer, were major advisors of the NSC and the Pentagon Army Chiefs of Staff for both Democratic and Republican presidential administrations since Eisenhower. They were also prominent advisors in the Center for Security Policy (CSP), which features the William J. Casey Institute. Judge Jensen’s Alameda County Mafia partner, Edwin Meese III, was an informal advisor of the CSP with the Kraemers. [25]

U. S. Marine Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North was at the center of national attention during the Iran-Contra affair, a political scandal of the late 1980s under Reagan. North was a NSC member along with Kraemers involved in the clandestine sale of weapons to Iran, which served to encourage the release of U.S. hostages from Lebanon. North formulated the second part of the plan: diverting proceeds from the arms sales to support the Contra rebel group in Nicaragua.

The most disturbing item to come from Iran Contra was that there was another commodity being traded, namely drugs earmarked for the streets of the United States, particularly targeting the Black Communities of Los Angeles and the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Area. Lt. Col North actually kept a record of the drug transactions, and labeled them as such as found by the Kerry 1988 Congressional Subcommittee on Terrorism, Narcotics and International Operations. [26]

When the late courageous Gary Webb, author of Dark Alliance, was in Oakland, I asked him pointblank who were the Oakland Black drug dealers trafficking cocaine for the Colombia Cali-Medellin cartel funneling millions in drug (blood) profits to the Contras run by the CIA, and Lt. Col. Oliver North of the NSC. “Freeway” Ricky Ross was the exposed Black drug dealer trafficking cocaine for the Contras in Los Angeles, [27] but the Black Bay Area’s Iran-Contra Medellin drug traffickers remained anonymous.

Rather reluctantly, Webb said, “Rudy (Rudolph) Henderson.” I was somewhat shocked and taken back by the response. Rudolph had been my childhood friend when I lived a couple doors down from the Henderson Family on 8^th Street in West Oakland.

In West Oakland, Rudolph had been a husky sweet kid that didn’t even have the heart to fight. The Hendersons was an ordinary hard working blue collar family. They were like my second family.

In 1989, Henderson pleaded guilty to a single charge of possession for sale of 7 kilograms (15.4 pounds) of cocaine and evasion of $115,000 in taxes in 1984. He also agreed to forfeit his Sonoma County estate and two luxury cars. He was originally sentenced to 20 years in prison, but that was reduced on appeal. [28] In December 2006, Rudolph was liquidated in broad daylight in North Oakland. Rudy had been on parole since 2002 for the 1989 conviction for drug trafficking. Of course in Oakland, Rudy’s murder remains needlessly unsolved.

Crack cocaine has literally destroyed Black Communities across the nation. One in 11 African-Americans are in prison, on parole or on probation, and more than 50 percent of federal inmates are imprisoned for drug crimes related to crack cocaine. But in the drug trafficking industry, Rudy was like Cary Webb’s Dark Alliance Ricky (Freeway) Ross of Los Angeles; they were expendable. They were by design made the mass media’s most visible poster boys for drug traffickers and crack cocaine making Black communities across the country a wasteland of poverty, crime, death, destruction and drug addiction, while a far greater evil and danger loom.

“Ethnic cleansing is a bit trickier in South Central Los Angeles than it is in South Central Europe. It is essential in a “democracy” to have people do it in a way that makes it look like they’re “doing it” to themselves. You need a socially induced suicide. So how do you get people to commit suicide? You make it very attractive for their children to make money doing something illegal. Then you arrest them for it in a very visible way (Remember the battering rams and armored cars?).  You design stories to make people blame themselves for what has happened. This is how branding works. Pepsi = tastes good, Black people = cause illegal drugs and crime.  Support all this by a national media owned by defense contractors and other corporate interests. That way the nightly news has lots of moneymaking incentives to cover HUD OIG sponsored drug raids in black communities rather than doing a story on CIA drug trafficking.”  -Catherine Austin Fitts-  [29]

During wiretap investigation of the affairs of the drug syndicate of “Mr. Steve” at his home, Rudolph had been a frequent caller.  On many occasions the FBI/DEA recorded, he talked with Mr. Steve’s witting aficionado and partner in his drug trafficking industry, Denise E. Smith. The FBI/DEA had even followed Mr. Steve and Denise to the San Francisco Opera, and grand parties with the rich, famous and powerful in Beverly Hills, particularly at the home of the Ambassador of Mexico. Denise E. Smith is the same party at the head of Royal Realtors & Loan Services in Oakland [30] that just slipped through the cracks of a federal indictment for drug trafficking.

 After Gregory’s death, all of his office-business phone logs for weeks leading up to his death disappeared. However, we combed through the phone logs left by the intruders. We found messages left for Gregory from Mr. Steve’s aficionado and partner, Denise E. Smith, allegedly, relating to a piece of property on Skyline Blvd in the Oakland Hills. ”Mr. Steve” and his network was also watching  Charles Alex Gregory.

Cointelpro- Cocaine & The SS (“Schutzstaffel”) The World’s Greatest Racial Mass Murder Cult

“Only the SS was equal to the task of exterminating the Jewish people. Others talked about it but had too many reservations. To have completed such a mission is an unwritten page of honor in the history of the SS.” (Reichsfuhrer SS Heinrich Himmler)

Mr. Steve’s passport listed him as a Caucasian under the alias name of “Steve or Michael Towns.” Did he change his bloodline to join an international white blood cult network of cocaine distribution and death? Mr. Steve’s alias is eerily similar to the Nazi trained Chilean General Augusto Pinochet DINA assassin and Operation Condor (North-South American campaign of political repressions involving assassination and counter-intelligence operations) [31]  functionary, Michael V. Townley. [32]

“Our concern, our duty is our people and our blood. It is for them that we must provide and plan, work and fight, nothing else. We can be indifferent to everything else. I wish the SS to adopt this attitude to the problem of all foreign non-Germanic peoples… All else is vain…” (Reichsfuhrer SS Heinrich Himmler)

Heinrich Himmler’s SS was the instrument most noted responsible for the demotic wholesale slaughter of Jews, and non Aryans by Nazi Germany. Its instrument of death, destruction and human annihilation went by a different name, “the Knights of the Black Sun”, the Masters of Death.

The SS is generally translated as the “Schutzstaffel”, a special staff or military unit. There was another darker occult meaning of the “SS”, a meaning with roots deep in dualism and the occult of ancient Sumerian, Babylonian, and Egyptian mythology.

The letters “SS” also referred to die Schwatze Sonne, the Black Sun. The doctrine of the Black Sun is that there are two suns, the “white” sun at the center of the physical solar system, and the “black” sun, a “hidden” sun of (spiritual) illumination. The myth of the Black and White Sun encompasses the ancient doctrine of dualism, the two realms of good and evil, light and darkness, order and chaos as independent principles.

In some versions of Black Sun mythology, the Black Sun lies at the center of the galaxy. One attribute of the Black Sun is that it is the cause of the immortality,” evil”, and the reincarnation of the soul. In Babylonian mythology it was also associated with the coming of the “King of Kings” and the establishment of a New Babylon. Finally, theosophical mythology associated the Black Sun with uttermost “Hyperborea” and “Thule”, the legendary stellar home and celestial origin of the Aryan race. [33]

Their gods were Aryan war gods, Odin (Wotan) and Thor. The Aryan war gods were filled with Magic and Power in Heaven and in “Hell.” Many of the top leaders in Hitler’s Inner Circle such as Himmler, Goebbels and even Hitler began to envision themselves as god-like, taking on the characteristics of Aryan war gods, and mythical Germanic Kings. They dwelled into the black arts and occultism and ancient volkish rights in order to bring forth an Aryan vanguard of “supermen” to accomplish world domination.

One of the vanguard’s most sacred missions was to bring about the total annihilation of non Aryans by a secret blood oath for the coming of a Germanic blood master root race. Himmler’s vanguard was made-up of the Blood and Elite of the Germanic race.

It is important to note that the SS not only wanted to kill the body, but sought by pseudo-occult-spiritual science to extinguish the soul and spirits of non Aryans.  Himmler and other key members of the SS were not only fanatic occultists, but followers and believers of Rudlof Steiner’s pseudo “spiritual science.” Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) was an important German occult philosopher.

Hauptsturmfuhrer SS Dr. Sigmund Rausher was Dr. Josef Mengele’s medical colleague at Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Poland performing some of the most bizarre and heinous medical experiments on human beings. Dr. Rausher was one of Rudlof  Steiner’s followers.  Dr. Rauscher had also been one of Himmler’s favorites, and it was Dr. Rausher that in August 1942 developed the idea of using gas chambers for racial mass murder and the “Final Solution”.

It was Steiner’s belief that potassium cyanide (like in the insecticide “Zyklon B” used in Auschwitz) from an occult point of view of “spiritual science” not only kills the body but also the soul. [34]

The SS sacred mission did not end after World War II, the death of the Hitler and the Nazi State. At least two years before the official end of World War II, the SS, including Reichsfuhrer SS Heinrich Himmler, began to go underground to continue their “Thousand Year Reich”  conspiracy of racial mass murder. Here lies one of the most neglected and veiled subjects of twentieth and twentieth-first century.

Generally, people of color aren’t fully aware of them. The media, and surprisingly, most of the left and so called progressives will not talk about the SS, which has allowed them to recruit knights, initiates and disciples to continue their veiled demotic deeds to mass murder non Aryans for decades to come. Incredibly, Bob Marley, the world’s greatest conscious reggae performer, was taken to a SS doctor, Dr. Josef Issels, a Knight of the Black Sun, for cancer treatment. Dr. Issels tortured Marley to death. Dr. Issels also worked under the Angel of Death, Dr. Josef Mengele, at Auschwitz. [35]

One of the principals of Operation Condor along with Michael V. Townley was wanted war criminal Hauptsturmfuhrer SS Klaus Barbie (1913–1991), [36] the “Butcher of Lyon”. SS Barbie had been recruited and veiled by U.S. Counter Intelligence Corps in 1947; he also worked for British intelligence. The CIA smuggled SS Barbie into South America as an asset. The ardent Nazi Barbie, consultant to the Bolivian Ministry of the Interior, was a major principal in Luis Garcia Meza Tejada’s 1980 “Cocaine Coup” in Bolivia. 

Hauptsturmfuhrer SS Barbie, ODESSA (Organization of SS Members), and their young neo-fascist disciples organized and protected Colombian Cali-Medellin cocaine cartels and transported drugs and weapons internationally to find its way to the streets of the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Area and Black Communities across the Nation. [37]   

SS Barbie was also instrumental as some sort of secret SS High Priest (Knight) in a satanic Thule Lodge [38] in forming a blueprint for a new type of occultist-satanic SS that became the core of paramilitary units, soldiers, and death squads for cocaine cartels across the United States, Central and South America. 

According to an acticle in the Los Angeles Time, 2/27/85, Hauptsturmfuhrer SS Mengele, the Angel of Death of Auschwitz, was also confirmed to having been involved in the Nazi network of crack cocaine distribution. One CIA document said SS Mengele used his farm machinery business in Paraguay, South America as a mechanism to move or launder large sums of money, as well as to cover the movement of illicit narcotics.  [39] 

Connect the dots. The FBI Division Five’s control group that was linked to COINTELPRO was controlled by Sturmbannfüehrer SS Dr. Wernher von Braun of NASA and the DISC.

Oliver North’s NSC prime mover and shaker was Brigadefuhrer SS Fritz Kraemer. Fritz Gustane Anton Kraemer of the NSC was one of the most secretive, illusory and veiled personalities at the Pentagon. He didn’t allow pictures or biographies of himself to be produced or published. Nazi War Criminal SS Fritz Kraemer disappeared as a defendant from Nuremberg Tribunal in Germany after the war at the same time that Fritz Gustane Anton Kraemer first appeared with U.S. Allied Forces in Germany. I believe Mae Brussell was right that Brigadefuhrer SS Kraemer was Fritz Gustane Anton Kraemer of the NSC. [40]

California’s resident Knight of the Black Sun, the CIA’s veiled agent war criminal and one of the architects of the “Final Solution,” Sturmhauptfuhrer SS Otto Albrecht Alfred von Bolschwing (Beast of Bucharest) of TCI of Sacramento, CA sold the company’s largest subsidiary to Albert Hakim and Richard Secord. And that subsidiary became Stanford Trading Group International (STGI), and Stanford Technology Trading Group (STTG). STTG became the notorious CIA front that sprouted the Iran-Contra/Cocaine Connection conspirators from the operatives of the Phoenix Assassination and Counterintelligence Program of Vietnam. [41] It included Lt. Col. Oliver North, Theodore Clines, William Casey, Admiral J. Pointdexter, Edwin Wilson, Frank Terpil, Theodore Schackley, Chilean General Augusto Pinochet, and the Nugan Hand Bank.

The Nuremberg Tribunal declared the Knights of the Black Sun rightfully as a war criminal organization. The SS’s overall and undivided objective was to put non Aryans on the planet in their place; in prisons, in virtually slavery for the state, or 6 feet under; “to exterminate” them.   

Towards the end of the war in 1945 the occultist SS had over 840,000 members. They mercilessly carried out the Nazi’s mass murder-extermination policy in which as many as 6 million Jews and 4 million other mostly non Aryans were systematically exterminated on the streets, in concentration and death camps. The SS were frighteningly real, a racialist mass murder cult.

The mass majority of the Knights of the Black Sun just walked away and melted into Germany, Eastern Europe, South America, and into the governmental affairs of America as a plague of racism, chaos, murder, and genocide. 

The suspect’s high profile Bay Area drug dealer associate had to have been non other than Oakland’s “Mr. Steve.” The suspect like “Mr. Steve” also had powerful guardian angels in high places like FBI Agent Richard W. Held, Lionel Wilson, and the NSC, he was referred to Department 31 (Judge Vern Nakahara) of the Alameda County Municipal Criminal Court for misdemeanor probation & diversion pursuant to and under California Penal Code, §1000 even though he didn’t qualify for relief under that section. The suspect was a major Bay Area mob drug trafficker and money launderer. The suspect’s wife said that he had to pay someone $8.000 to package the deal, and get out of the case repackaged and squeaky clean.

The repackaged and wiped squeaky clean suspect was Peter Robertson [42] of Baines and Robertson, Inc. [43]  Baines and Robertson was the entity that was Gregory Construction’s main competitor for the Victoria Court Redevelopment Project. The veiled Peter Robertson was at Gregory Construction, Inc.’s rear on the Victoria Court Project. Virtual Murrell and Franklin Young, the veiled society (The Triad), was posted at his front. Dr. Isaac Slaughter, an unseen veiled CIA asset and Denise E. Smith of “Mr. Steve’s veiled COINTELPRO-IRAN CONTRA CRACK COCAINE Syndicate was posted at his side.

COINTELPRO Goals:

1. Prevent the coalition of militant Black nationalists groups;
2. Prevent the rise of a (Black) messiah who could unify and electrify the militant Black nationalist movement;
3. Prevent Black nationalist groups and leaders from gaining respectability by discrediting them to the community;
4. A final goal should be to prevent the long-range growth of militant Black nationalists’ organizations especially among youth. [44]

Any Black leader, including Christian preachers, with charisma was a target of Cointelpro. The FBI’s Division Five, Defense Intelligence Agency of the Army Chiefs of Staff, and Defense Industrial Security Command wanted to destroy any and all progressive movements that sought to advance the human and civil rights of Black people. Any Black person who sought voting rights, quality education, decent jobs, and even improved housing for Black people was earmarked by Cointelpro for arrest or liquidation.

It was like the unsuspecting Charles Alex Gregory had been surrounded and led blindfolded into a secret demotic circle to be liquidated-heart-body-soul and seed for his natural brilliance, and vision and quest to uplift the souls and spirit of the Black masses, instead of joining in a conspiracy to literally exterminate and annihilate their heart, body and soul with crack cocaine.

Dès lors, la vie du héros apparut comme le reflet du destin du dieu Tyr
L’épée rendit Sigmund invincible
Il combattit les Danois et les Germains
Il repoussa les Lapons jusqu’aux terres glacées où naissent les aurores boréales
Il enchaîna Sigval, le bersek révolté, sur un iceberg
Il défit les Angles, les Irlandais et porta la guerre dans les pays du sud ensoleillé où des pommes d’or mûrissent sur les arbres toujours verts
Sa vie ressemblait à un torrent tumultueux roulant des rochers et des troncs, grossi sans cesse de nouvelles eaux
Quand Sigmund pensa à regarder en arrière, ses cheveux grisonnaient

Il revint alors dans sa demeure du Störe Borge et sa femme lui donna un fils, qu’il prénomma Sigurd
Une nuit, il rencontra en rêve le dieu Tyr
Une lumière dorée tombait de la voûte d’une caverne

Des oiseaux de feu passaient comme des éclairs
Tyr, assis sur un amoncellement de fourrures, conversait avec Sindri, le nain magicien de la montagne du Spartalheim
- Je demande l’aide de tes nains forgerons, Sindri

Il faudrait qu’ils me fabriquent une chaîne assez forte pour entraver Fenrir, le loup géant, qui devient un danger pour les habitants du Valhöll
- Il n’est pas de chaîne qui résiste à la fureur du grand loup, Tyr… tu sais qu’il a brisé tous les fers dont on l’avait chargé…
Le nain réfléchit un long moment, la tête entre les mains
- Nous tresserons un lien que Fenrir ne pourra pas rompre

Oui, un lien qui sera fait de six choses… en une nuit nous pouvons terminer l’ouvrage, Tyr , fais-moi confiance
Les nains se mirent au travail

Ils tressèrent ensemble le pas d’un chat, la racine d’un rocher, la barbe d’une femme, l’âme d’un poisson, la fiente d’un oiseau et le soupir d’un ours

Ainsi obtinrent-ils un cordon de cent pieds de long qu’ils désignaient sous le nom de Gleipnir et dont Tyr éprouva la résistance
La caverne s’effaça et, dans le brouillard de mer, apparut l’île Armwartner qui dépendait du royaume d’Odin
Le loup Fenrir et les Dieux étaient face à face
Tyr tenait le lien Gleipnir.
- Fenrir, dit-il, nous t’avons lié avec des cordes suiffées et tu as brisé ces amarres

Nous t’avons entravé avec des chaînes et tu as rompu ces fers

Je te défie de venir à bout de ce lien que je rapporte des terres du Nord

A moins que tu ne refuses l’épreuve, par crainte d’Odin…
Fenrir, le museau sur les griffes des pattes avant, redoutait quelque piège

La prudence luttait contre l’orgueil
Brusquement il se dressa, les poils hérissées, ses prunelles jaunes lançant des éclairs
- Je ne crains ni Odin, ni Thor, ni les autres Dieux

Je consens à être lié, mais à une condition… Que l’un de vous place une main dans ma gueule, tout le temps que durera l’épreuve

Si les Dieux cherchent à me passer le licol, je trancherai de mes crocs cette main jusqu’au poignet
Les Dieux se regardèrent, embarrassés
Tyr tendit sa main droite
- Voici ma main en gage de bonne foi
Thor, Njord et Aegir enserrèrent le loup dans la tresse magique de Sindri

Fenrir se débattit de toute sa force sauvage, bondissant, se roulant, hurlant… Le lien ne céda pas
Les Dieux riaient, heureux de voir leur mortel ennemi réduit à l’impuissance
Les crocs se refermèrent sur la main de Tyr

Le sang jaillit dans la gueule du loup

Tyr avait laissé sa main droite dans l’aventure
Il se tourna vers Thor :
- Attache-le à un rocher, lanceur de foudre… Fenrir ne pourra plus nuire jusqu’au combat du Ragnarok… J’ai sacrifié ma main pour que la menace du Mal fût écartée
Sigmund se réveilla, en proie à un vague malaise
Sigurd jasait dans son berceau
Ce même jour, comme le héros visitait ses troupeaux, il fut assailli par sept brigands à la lisière de la fôret
Des flocons paresseux tombaient sur les herbes jaunies
Sigmund se battit avec ardeur et tua les brigands
La neige à présent recouvrait les prairies, adhérait aux hautes branches des sapins
- Quelle est donc la signification de ce rêve ? s’interrogeait Sigmund. Tyr voulait-il m’avertir d’une fin prochaine ?
Un homme noir et maigre, flottant dans un manteau sombre, sortit du bois

Il brandissait une lance au fer étincelant
Sigmund courut sur l’adversaire, pensant que c’était là le chef de la troupe

Il porta un coup de son épée

La lame se brisa en deux sur le bois de la lance

Une étrange faiblesse minait le corps du héros
Il reconnut alors le voyageur qui, une nuit d’hiver, avait enfoncé l’épée magique dans la souche d’Inglingar

L’oeil unique brillait d’un calme éclat
- Odin, murmura t-il en tombant dans la neige
- Sigmund, le temps est venu de passer la frontière de la vie

Je fus là à ta naissance et je te consacrai au dieu Tyr… Je suis là aujourd’hui pour t’aider à passer dans le monde des morts

Les monstres et les géants se lèvent et grondent

Le grand combat de la fin des temps approche

Le dieu Tyr aura besoin de tous ses braves…
Sigmund sourit
- Je suis prêt… Je m’assoirai à la table des Dieux pour boire le vin âpre et fort de la gloire

Je n’ai d’autre ambition que d’être le reflet de Tyr à la cuirasse d’argent
Odin étendit son manteau sur le héros
- N’as-tu pas un souhait que je pourrais exaucer sur cette terre, Sigmund ?
Le fils de Volsung s’appuya sur un coude
- L’épée ! qu’on soude les deux parties… Qu’on rapporte l’épée à mon fils Sigurd, afin que se perpétue la saga des Volsung
Odin sourit
- Je le ferai

A la nuit, un homme maigre et noir se penchera sur le berceau de ton fils
Ainsi mourut Sigmund

Les flocons tombaient dru
Et, dans le ciel, la charge des Walkyries éclata comme un roulement de tonnerre

Les messagères de la Mort ouvraient au héros les portes d’or et d’ivoire du Valhöll…

Balmung

Balmung fut donnée par Wayland le forgeron à Odin , ce dernier l’enfonçant dans l’arbre Branstock , un chêne dans le Palais de Volsung

Odin déclara alors que celui qui pourrait l’arracher , ne connaîtrait que la victoire sur les champs de bataille

Neuf des princes de Volsung essayèrent mais seul le plus jeune y parvint

Son nom était Sigmund
Cette épée fut offerte par Wotan à la lignée des Volsungs

L’épée fut brisée contre le bois de Gungnir , la Lance d’Odin

Elle fut plus tard reforgée par Regin , pour vaincre le dragon Fafnir

Siegfried dans son voyage au pays des Burgondes fut attaqué par le nain Alberich

Alberich était le gardien du trésor des Nibelungen , et comme Siegfried lui laissait la vie sauve, il lui proposa une partie de ces richesses , dont la célèbre épée

Légendes atlantes et asiates

Ça vous dis quelque chose cette épée enfoncée dans la souche ?

Excalibur , l’épée du roi Arthur …….

Il est à remarquer que tous les objets soi disant magiques , ont toutes un nom , en fait pour indiquer leur particularité par rapport à un objet similaire , qui lui n’a pas ces propriétés

magiques ….

Aussi , vous aviez remarqué bien sur , que la bière était un breuvage sacré , comme chez les autres populations atlantes …

D’autre part , on voit bien que toutes les légendes et mythes qui nous sont parvenus à ce jour , en fait ne sont pas des légendes , mais des récits historiques remaniés , bien souvent par des populations qui ne pouvaient comprendre la technicité utilisée , retraçant la vie des atlantes et des asiates de l’époque -8000 à -4000 before present , avec les moyens technologiques qu’ils possédaient

Thor et Skrymir

On raconte qu’un jour Thor décida de défier les géants dans leur propre pays

Il lui fallait pour cela traverser le Jotünheim et se rendre à Utgard, la cité du roi Loki

Thor prit la route en compagnie du rusé Loki et d’un humain de Midgard, Thialfi

Thor et ses compagnons marchèrent longtemps et, un soir dans une forêt, ils s’arrêtèrent pour la nuit dans deux cavernes isolées, l’une très grande, l’autre plus petite
La nuit fut difficile, les cavernes étant secouées à intervalle régulier par un inexplicable tremblement
Le matin Thor sortit de l’abri et remarqua un être gigantesque endormi sur le sol de la forêt Les ronflements de ce Géant était responsable de la mauvaise nuit qu’ils venaient de passer !
Thor n’était pas un être patient : il boucla la ceinture qui doublait sa taille et ses forces, empoigna son marteau Mjollnir et s’apprêta à faire payer au géant le prix de sa colère

Mais à ce moment, le Géant s’éveilla
- Quel est ton nom, Géant ?, demanda Thor
- Je suis Skrymir

Je ne te demande pas ton nom car moi je t’ai reconnu, Thor d’Asgard… Mais que font tes amis dans mon gant ?
La grande caverne où ils avaient passé la nuit était en fait le gant du géant !
- Je vais à Utgard rendre visite au roi, dit Thor
- Très bien, déclara Skrymir, nous pourrons faire route ensemble, je me rends moi aussi dans cette direction

Je vais porter vos bagages afin que nous avancions plus vite
Joignant le geste à la parole, Skrymir fit un ballot de toutes les affaires et le jeta sur son épaule

Suivre le géant toute une journée constitua une épreuve pour les trois voyageurs et ils furent heureux de voir arriver la tombée de la nuit
Le géant déclara qu’il n’avait pas faim et qu’il voulait dormir, laissant Thor et ses compagnons s’occuper de leur repas

Thor ramassa alors le ballot du géant, s’efforçant de le dénouer

Mais malgré sa force et ses efforts, il n’y parvint pas

Pris d’une rage folle, il prit son marteau, monta sur la tête du dormeur et lui asséna un coup terrible ! Le géant se retourna, murmurant dans son sommeil qu’une feuille avait dû tomber d’un arbre
Ces propos décuplèrent la colère de Thor

Il brandit Mjollnir haut vers le ciel et frappa très fort sur le haut du crâne du géant

Mais une fois encore Skrymir ne se réveilla pas et murmura qu’un gland venait de lui tomber sur la tête

Alors Thor, au comble de la fureur, balança plusieurs fois son arme terrible et frappa de toutes ses forces la tempe du géant

Cette fois, Skrymir s’éveilla et dit :
- Remettons-nous en route, ami Thor

Ici, pas moyen de dormir, des oiseaux font leur nid dans cet arbre et je n’arrête pas de recevoir des ramilles

De plus, je suis sûr que tu as hâte d’arriver à Utgard et d’admirer la cour du roi

Tu y verras de sacrés gaillards ; figure-toi qu’ils m’ont surnommé “Petit Bonhomme” !
Après une nouvelle journée de marche, les trois voyageurs arrivèrent enfin à Utgard

Skrymir les avaient quittés peu avant

Ils entrèrent dans le palais du roi et Thor s’avança hardiment entre les rangées de géants, jusqu’au trône du roi qu’il salua
- Bonjour, petit moucheron

Est-ce possible que tu sois le puissant Thor d’Asgard ? Tu dois être beaucoup plus fort que tu ne le parais !
Thor ne répondit rien et le roi ajouta :
- Sache que personne n’est admis à ma cour s’il ne surpasse les autres par l’un de ces talents

En quels domaines excellez-vous, toi et tes compagnons ?
Loki s’avança alors :
- Je suis capable de manger plus et vite que n’importe qui !
Utgard-Loki répondit :
- Alors tu mangeras, petit !
Et Loki se retrouva bientôt face à une auge en bois pleine de viande

Face à lui se trouvait un géant nommé Logi

Le duel commença
Loki avait faim et il était un solide mangeur

Pourtant il dut s’incliner

Car si lui et Logi étaient arrivés exactement au milieu de l’auge, Loki n’avait mangé que les os et la viande, alors que Logi avait également dévoré le bois !
- J’espère que vos exploits vont rattraper l’échec de votre ami

Que sais-tu faire, petit ?, dit Utgard-Loki, se tournant vers Thialfi
- Je ne suis pas un Ase, je ne suis qu’un simple humain du Midgard

Pourtant je cours vite ! répondit Thialfi
- N’en dis pas plus, j’ai là un adversaire à ta mesure

Il s’appelle Hugi. dit le roi
Il fut décidé que la course aurait lieu dans la salle, les concurrents devant aller jusqu’à un but donné avant de revenir à leur point de départ

Hugi triompha aisément, Thialfi n’ayant même pas encore atteint le but lorsque le géant passa la ligne d’arrivée !
- J’ose espérer que tu feras mieux que tes compagnons, Thor d’Asgard

Dans quel domaine te sens tu prêt à accomplir un haut fait ? demanda Utgard-Loki
Thor répondit :
Je bois mieux que quiconque
- Alors, tu boiras ! Voici une coupe

La vider d’un seul coup peut être considéré comme un exploit

La plupart d’entre nous la boivent en deux gorgées, les petits buveurs la vident en trois
Thor regarda la coupe, elle était assez grande mais il doutait fort d’avoir besoin de plus d’une gorgée pour la terminer

Il but alors une grande gorgée

Mais lorsqu’à bout de souffle il reposa la coupe, il constata comme tous que le niveau avait à peine baissé
- C’était une belle gorgée mais cela restait une gorgée ordinaire ! Sans doute comptes-tu achever la coupe à la deuxième gorgée… dit Utgard-Loki
A ces mots Thor empoigna la coupe et but beaucoup plus longtemps ! Mais lorsque suffoquant à nouveau, il reposa la coupe, il constata que le niveau n’avait pas beaucoup plus bougé !
- Oh, oh ! Tu te réserves pour la troisième gorgée ? demanda le roi
Cette fois, Thor souleva haut la coupe mais curieusement sans pouvoir l’amener au dessus de la tête comme il l’aurait souhaité

Puis il but longtemps, très longtemps

Mais lorsque pour la troisième fois il reposa la coupe, il constata que si le niveau avait bien baissé, la coupe était encore loin d’être vide

Malgré cela, Thor déclara qu’il ne voulait plus boire
- On dirait que tu n’es pas le champion que nous imaginions ! Peut-être veux tu nous défier dans un autre divertissement ? dit le roi des géants
- Chez les Ases, on n’aurait pas pris mes gorgées pour de petites gorgées, reconnut Thor, quel autre défi me proposes-tu ?
- Les gamins de la ville s’amusent parfois à soulever mon chat du plancher, dit Utgard-Loki, peut-être ce genre d’exploit est-il à ta mesure…
Thor ne répondit rien et se dirigea vers le chat dans le but de le lancer à travers la salle

C’était un chat gris de belle taille mais Thor ne pensait pas avoir beaucoup de mal à le soulever

Il mit les deux mains sous le ventre du chat et tira

Mais malgré tous ses efforts, il parvint juste à faire décoller une patte du sol !
- C’est normal, dit Utgard-Loki, tu es un être chétif et mon chat est en vérité assez gros
- Thor entra alors dans une colère indescriptible :
- Que l’un d’entre vous ose me défier en combat singulier et vous verrez si je suis chétif !
- Calme-toi, petit

Aucun d’entre nous ne voudrait un tel avorton pour adversaire

Je peux juste te proposer une lutte avec ma vieille nourrice Elli

Elle est âgée mais cela l’amusera sans doute de lutter avec Thor d’Asgard !
Thor accepta, se promettant d’éjecter la vieille avant de défier le roi

Une vieille femme s’avança alors et s’aggrippa à Thor

Ils luttèrent un moment d’avant en arrière

Mais, sur une poussée plus brusque, l’Ase fut contraint de poser un genou à terre
Aussitôt Utgard-Loki ordonna l’arrêt du combat, craignant de voir son hôte blessé
- Il est maintenant clair que vous ne nous égalez en rien, déclara le roi, cependant il est tard et je vais vous accordez l’hospitalité jusqu’à l’aube

Mais il faudra alors partir tous les trois
Thor et ses compagnons furent alors royalement fêtés par Utgardloki et sa cour tout le reste de la nuit

Au matin, le roi en personne les raccompagna aux portes de la ville et demanda :
- Alors, Thor, que penses-tu de ta visite chez nous ? As-tu rencontré quelqu’un de plus puissant que les Ases ?
- Je ne peux pas prétendre avoir acquis beaucoup d’honneur pendant ce voyage, admit Thor, et je ressens une grande tristesse à l’idée que tu vas dorénavant me considérer comme un parfait avorton
- Maintenant que nous sommes à l’extérieur de ma ville, Thor, je dois te dire une chose

Moi vivant, tu ne mettras jamais plus les pieds dans Utgard ! J’ai eu la peur de ma vie et j’ai cru que tu allais tous nous anéantir

- Tu te moques de moi ! s’écria Thor
- Pas du tout

En fait depuis le début, toi et tes amis avaient été victimes de mes illusions

J’étais le géant Skrymir que vous avez croisé dans la forêt

Et si tu n’as pas réussi à dénouer mon ballot, c’est parce qu’il était noué magiquement

Au sujet des coups que tu as cru me donner, sache que j’ai placé une montagne entre moi et ton marteau

Et chacun de tes coups, dont le moindre m’aurait ôté la vie, a créé une profonde vallée

Concernant les épreuves que vous avez subies, je te dirais ceci

Il n’est pas étonnant que Loki ait été battu par mon Logi quand il s’est agi de manger

Logi n’est autre que le Feu qui dévore tout sur son passage

Et Hugi qui a battu ton serviteur à la course est en fait la Pensée, que rien ne peut dépasser

Ensuite lorsque tu as bu dans ma corne, j’ai fait tremper son autre extrêmité dans l’océan

Tu as bu tellement que les mers se sont retirées des rivages, ce qui s’appellera désormais le reflux des marées

Quant à mon chat, derrière l’illusion se trouvait Jormungand, le serpent du Midgard qui encercle la terre

Tu l’as soulevé si haut qu’il a presque touché les cieux, nous avons tous tremblé à cette vue

Enfin, ma vieille nourrice Elli n’était autre que la Vieillesse à laquelle nul ne peut résister
A ces mots, Thor brandit son marteau pour fracasser le roi

Mais Utgard-Loki et sa ville disparurent dans un éclat de lumière, révélant une plaine herbeuse et déserte.
Thor fit volte-face et lui et ses compagnons rentrèrent à Asgard sans mot dire et sans se retourner
Ainsi s’acheva l’expédition de Thor au Jotünheim, le pays des Géants

Les dieux

On voit bien dans cette légende que personne ne portait de culte aux dieux

On les appelles dieux parce qu’ils viennent d’ailleurs …

Et si on les craint , c’est uniquement parce que leurs moyens technologiques leurs donnent la puissance de destruction …

Odin , Odhinn , Wotan …

Chaque jour, Odin envoie ses deux corbeaux , Hugin et Mugin, survoler le monde afin qu’ils lui racontent ce qui se passe chez les hommes…
A la fin de chaque journée, les deux corbeaux se lancent dans une course folle pour savoir lequel rejoindra son maître avant l’autre

Odin

Le père des dieux est également connu sous le nom de Wotan
Il est le fils de Bör et de Bestla et frère de Wili et de We
Son grand-père est Buri , né lorsque la vache Audhumbla lécha la glace d’une montagne
Dieu de la poésie, il eut recours à une ruse pour voler l’Hydromel de l’Inspiration au Géant Suttung qui le gardait

Le Havamal raconte qu’il resta suspendu à l’Arbre du Monde neuf jours et neuf nuits pour obtenir le secret des runes

Il était aussi appelé le pendu ou le seigneur des gibets car il avait le pouvoir de ressusciter les pendus

Dieu de la guerre , il était associé à la stratégie et à la ruse plutôt qu’à la force et au courage Les guerriers morts allaient dans son Walhalla d’Asgard

Odin était borgne , ayant sacrifié un oeil pour boire à la Fontaine du Savoir.

Sleipnir, cheval gris d’Odin avait huit pattes et c’était un destrier sans pareil, pour lequel aucun obstacle n’était trop élevé

C’est Loki , métamorphosé en jument , qui se fit saillir par l’étalon Svadilfari pour engendrer Sleipnir
Odin possédait surtout Gungnir , la lance qui ne manquait jamais sa cible
Il est accompagné de Geri et Freki , ses deux loups et de Hugin , l’esprit , et Munin , la mémoire , ses deux corbeaux qui lui racontaient tout ce qu’ils avaient vu et entendu
De son palais , Idafeld , situé au centre d’Asgard , il surveille le monde sur son trône , Hlidskialf

Thor

Le plus fort des dieux , Thor , était aussi le plus adulé

Immense , avec sa barbe rouge , ses yeux flamboyants et ses colères épouvantables , il incarnait la bravoure du guerrier

Célèbre pour ses exploits de tueur de géants , il était vénéré en tant que principal défenseur d’Asgard et de Midgard et protecteur de l’ordre face au chaos
Fils d’Odin et de Jord , la Terre, il vivait avec son épouse Sif dans un palais de 540 pièces , le plus grand jamais construit

Il voyageait dans un char tiré par deux chèvres magiciennes , Grince-dents et Crisse-dents, : si l’on manquait de nourriture, on pouvait les tuer et les manger, à condition de laisser les os intacts, et les chèvres se régénéraient

Thor possédaient également son marteau Mjollnir, ainsi qu’une ceinture qui augmentait sa force de moitié quand il la portait
Thor apparaît surtout comme l’ennemi des géants , surtout lors de ses incursions à Jotunheim Il tua le puissant Geirrod en renvoyant avec une telle force une boule de fer fondu que lui avait lancée son adversaire , qu’elle traversa Geirrod , le pilier derrière lequel il se cachait et le mur extérieur

Pourtant , ses relations avec les géants n’étaient pas toujours hostiles

Il conçut même deux fils avec une géante , Jarnaxa au couteau de fer, dont il fut prédit qu’ils survivraient au Ragnarök et hériteraient de Mjollnir lors de la nouvelle ère
Dans le monde réel , Thor était associé aux éléments , surtout aux orages : on disait que le tonnerre venait du bruit de son char traversant le ciel

Les voyageurs invoquaient sa protection avant de partir en voyage et à chaque éclair , tous se rappelaient son pouvoir.

Njord

Dieu des eaux côtières et de la pêche , c’est le père de Freyr et de Freyja , qui l’accompagnèrent en Asgard comme otages, après la guerre entre Ases et Vanes

En Asgard , Njord épousa Skadi, fille de Thiassi.
Le couple d’accord au départ pour partager leur temps entre la maison de Njord , en bord de mer, et celle de son épouse, au sommet des montagnes , finit par vivre séparément

Il protège les navigateurs et dispense autour de lui la fortune

Freyr

Fils de Njord , époux de Gerda , son palais s’appelle Alfheim
Dieu de la fertilité , associé au soleil et à la pluie , à la prospérité et à la fertilité, il était le frère jumeau de Freyja

Il possédait le sanglier d’or Gullenbursti, qui tirait son char, et un bateau merveilleux , Skidbladnir, qui pouvait voyager sur terre , sur mer et dans les airs, et se replier jusqu’à prendre la taille d’un mouchoir

Il avait aussi une épée magique, mais la donna à son serviteur Skirnir pour l’avoir aidé à obtenir la main de la Géante de la terre Gerd qui devint sa femme

De ce fait il sera désarmé lors du Ragnarök.
On vénérait Freyr tout particulièrement lors du solstice d’hiver afin d’obtenir de bonnes récoltes l’année suivante  

Freyja

Déesse de l’amour et de la naissance , de la mort et de la fertilité , soit de tout le cycle de la vie humaine

De la famille des Vanes , elle se rendit en Asgard en compagnie de son père Njord et de son frère jumeau Freyr après l’accord conclu avec les Ases

Associé au luxe et à l’amour des beaux objets , elle ne faisait pas preuve de scrupules quant à la manière de les acquérir

Elle consentit à coucher avec quatre nains afin d’obtenir l’inestimable collier Brisingamen

Elle était aussi très courageuse : elle fut la seule à oser servir de l’hydromel au géant ivre Hrungnir lorsqu’il menaça de détruire Asgard.
Sa colère était terrifiante.
Incarnation du désir sexuel , elle était célèbre pour sa nature lascive et passionnée

Loki l’accusa d’avoir couché avec tous les Ases , y compris son propre frère , et la géante Hyndla lui reprocha de courir après les mâles comme une chèvre en chaleur

Elle excita tour à tour toute sorte d’entités : le géant Thrym déroba le marteau de Thor pour l’échanger contre Freyja, et le nain Alviss eut l’idée fatale de mettre au défi la sagesse d’Odin, dans l’espoir d’obtenir Freyja en récompense s’il gagnait

Une autre légende raconte que le géant bâtisseur des fondations d’Asgard avait demandé en guise de paiement le soleil, la lune et Freyja : une trinité qui symboliserait la lumière, la vie et la fécondité.
Elle a aussi son côté sombre

Il lui arrivait de hanter les champs de bataille, tuant autant qu’Odin et accueillant dans son domaine de Folkvanger les guerriers qu’elle avait choisis

Comme Odin, elle pratiquait la magie, cette puissante sorcellerie connue sous le nom de Sejdhr

“La plus renommée des déesses”, comme l’appelait l’Edda en prose, s’intéressait autant au pouvoir qu’à la beauté

De nature passionnée, Freyja faisait preuve d’une détermination sans failles pour obtenir ce qu’elle voulait

Baldr

Le plus beau des dieux était associé à la joie et à la lumière

Il doit son importance aux événements qui entourèrent sa mort , provoquée par la jalousie de Loki : il fut tué par une branche de gui que lui avait involontairement lancée son frère jumeau aveugle

Les tentatives pour le faire sortir de Hel furent également empêchées par Loki

Le Havamal , poème de l’Edda , raconte que son frère et lui ressusciteront tous deux et vivront l’avènement du nouveau monde qui aura remplacé l’actuel , détruit par le Ragnarök

Heimdall

Fils spirituel d’Odin , dieu de l’aurore , habitant le palais de Himingbjoerg  , il est le compagnon et le gardien de l’arc-en-ciel Bifrost

Bifrost est l’arc-en-ciel qui relie Asgard et le Midgard dans la mythologie scandinave

C’est un inlassable veilleur car il garde toujours l’oeil ouvert sur les activités des géants
Giallahorn , sa corne, ne le quitte jamais car c’est avec elle qu’il préviendra les dieux de la bataille finale, le Ragnarök où Loki et lui s’entretueront
Il donna naissance à 3 enfants : Thrall l’esclave , Karl l’homme libre , et Jarl le comte , les ancêtres des trois classes sociales

Tyr

Fils d’Odin , c’est le dieu de la guerre

Il a hérité d’une partie du pouvoir de son père , de sa force et de son courage
Dans les batailles , son influence décide de la victoire

Intrépide et inflexible , il se refuse à tout compromis
Il sacrifia l’une de ses mains pour emprisonner le loup Fenrir.

L’un de ses autres privilèges est de choisir les plus braves guerriers mortels afin de lutter le moment venu contre les forces du mal , ce qui lui permit de choisir Sigmund
Au Ragnarök , Tyr et Garm , le chien de Hel , s’entretueront.

Frigg

Epouse d’Odin , mère de Baldr et de Moth , c’est la déesse du ciel et des nuages, des femmes au foyer et de l’amour marital, elle vit dans le palais de Fensal.

Sif

Epouse de Thor , célèbre pour ses cheveux d’or dont elle dut se parer à la suite d’une liaison avec Loki durant laquelle ce dernier coupa tout ses cheveux blonds

Thor , enragé au plus haut point le menaça de lui faire réparer cet outrage

Loki dut alors lui ofrir la chevelure d’or qui orna sa tête

Loki

Fils du géant , Farbauti le forgeron , maître du feu, c’est un Ase  

On l’appelle aussi Loki le malfaisant

Il n’est que toléré au Valhöll
Brillant , médisant , observateur , calomniateur , doté d’une mémoire prodigieuse et très intelligent , il est haï et redouté
Loki était lié à Thor et Odin

Ils eurent ensemble de nombreuses aventures , où la ruse de Loki leur sauva la vie
Il était d’une grande beauté

Il sauva les Ases le jour où un géant demanda la lune, le soleil et Freyja en paiement de la muraille qu’il avait construite autour d’Asgard

Loki l’empêcha d’accomplir sa tâche dans le temps imparti, le privant ainsi de sa récompense
Il prit la forme d’une jument pour séduire et retarder le cheval qui portait les matériaux du géant

Cela illustre les capacités de métamorphose et de changement de sexe de Loki

Sous sa forme de jument il engendra : Sleipnir le cheval à huit jambes d’Odin
Loki par son union avec la géante Angurboda engendra Hel , la maîtresse des enfers , Fenrir , le loup vorace , et Jormungand , le Serpent du Midgard
Il a provoqué la mort de Baldr et les événements qui déclancheront le Ragnarök

En punition il sera empalé sur des rochers acérés , tandis que du venin lui coulera sur le visage Il ne sera délivré que pour se joindre aux forces du mal lors de la bataille finale

Idun

Déesse de la jeunesse épouse de Bragi le dieu de la Poésie
Idun est la gardienne des pommes de l’éternité

Sauvée de l’orage Thiazi par Loki pour se servir d’elle , elle en est libérée par les dieux du Walhalla.

Hel

Fille de Loki et de Angurboda , soeur de Fenrir et du Serpent du Midgard.
Déesse de la mort ,  elle habite sous terre dans le royaume des ombres

Celui qui avait pénétré une fois son royaume ne pouvait plus le quitter
Garm est le chien de l’enfer du Hel qui reçoit et surveille les mort

Mimir

Gardien de la fontaine de sagesse , c’est un géant , ami  et conseiller d’Odin

Fenrir

Fils de Loki et de Angurboda
Le loup Fenrir est l’un des pires ennemis des dieux
Ils voulurent l’attacher plusieurs fois , mais sans succès jusqu’à ce que Tyr le défie avec son lien magique , mais il y perdit sa main
Libéré pour le Ragnarök , il tua Odin et périt à son tour sous les coups de Vidar

Jormungand

Jormungand est le Serpent du Midgard
Né de Loki et d’Angurboda , il est voué au mal

IL crache des flammes et souffle une haleine pestilentielle et mortelle

Thor tenta à maines reprises de le tuer , et de le pêcher avec une tête de taureau pour appât

Les géants

Les humains vivaient aux côtés des deux races de dieux , mais aussi de géants , d’elfes et de nains

Les mythes scandinaves décrivent les géants comme les ennemis et les destructeurs des

dieux , mais les relations entre eux n’étaient pas toujours hostiles

Il y eut effectivement de nombreuses liaisons entre dieux et géantes

Thor lui-même était né de l’union entre Odin et Jord , tandis que Freyr et Freyja étaient issus du mariage entre le dieu Vane Njord et la géante Skadi

Les géants pouvaient même montrer une certaine humanité : le jeune prince Agnar, héritier légitime de la couronne usurpée par son frère , trouva en Jotunheim l’accueil et le refuge qui lui avaient été refusés par les humains

Il existait une grande ambiguïté, car les elfes clairs presque aussi beaux que les dieux ne ressemblaient en rien aux elfes noirs, déformés et hideux

Ces deux traditions survécurent respectivement sous la forme des fées et des lutins

Solstiţiul de vară – ” soarele stă”…

La data de 21 iunie, ora 08h 45m , longitudinea astronomica a Soarelui este de 90 grade , el intrind in semnul zodiacal Racul. Este momentul solstitiului de vara, ce marcheaza inceputul verii astronomice .

Denumirea de solstitiu (“Soarele sta”) este data de faptul ca la data respectiva are loc schimbarea gradientului miscarii Soarelui in raport cu declinatiile acestuia. Soarele aflindu-se la culminatie (pentru latitudinea medie a tarii noastre) la 67 grade si 52minute deasupra orizontului, durata zilei va avea cea mai mare valoare din an, respectiv 15h 32m, durata noptii fiind de numai 8h 28m. Din acelasi motiv, si crepusculul are durata maxima din an, iar la latitudinile ridicate, crepusculul se prelungeste toata noaptea, locuitorii regiunilor respective fiind martorii frumoaselor “nopti albe”.

Dupa momentul solstitiului de vara, durata zilei va incepe sa scada, iar a noptii sa creasca, timp de 6 luni, pina la 21 decembrie, momentul solstitiului de iarna. Evident, in emisfera sudica a Pamintului fenomenul se deruleaza in sens invers.

Vechii celti serbau intre 20 si 23 iunie solstitiul, aducand in acest fel multumiri zeitei Litha care asigura fertilitate, bogatie, putere si ordine. Vechii germani, aprindeau focuri pe munte si rostogoleau la vale roti aprinse care simbolizau soarele si pe zeul lor Wotan, in acelasi timp ele avand rolul sa puna pe fuga spiritele rele.

In vechea Irlandă, sărbătoarea solstiţiului de vară era dedicată reginei zânelor din South Munster – Aina, considerată cea mai mare zeiţă din mitologia ţării. Se credea că ea bântuia pe colinele Knockainy Hill, din sud-vestul insulei sub forma unei fantome ce reprezenta o iapă roşie, numită Lair Derg.

In cinstea ei ţăranii făceau făclii din împletituri de paie şi într-un ritual asemănător retragerii cu torţe, înconjurau colinele Knockainy, pentru ca astfel vitele şi holdele să fie apărate de duhurile rele şi zeiţa să asigure protecţie şi fertilitate.

La populaţia Samen din zona Arctică există credinţa că, atunci când zeiţa soarelui Beiwe, împreună cu fiica ei Neida, iese la plimbare pe bolta cerului într-o sanie trasă de reni albi, ea goneşte iarna şi aduce din nou vegetaţia primăverii. In cinstea ei, la solstiţiu de vară, pentru ca să-i mulţumească şi s-o facă să mai revină şi în anul următor, populaţia împleteşte din ierburi diferite, coroane denumite „inelele soarelui”pe care le atârnă de uşi şi ferestre şi aprind focuri pe culmi.

Kupalo era zeiţa rusă a solstiţiului de vară şi este reprezentată printr-o păpuşă din paie îmbrăcată în haine de femeie.În cinstea ei se făceau mari focuri, pentru ca ea să fie darnică şi binevoitoare.

In Balcani, aceeaşi păpuşă Kupalo era alcătuită dintr-un mesteacăn, căruia i se tăiau toate crăcile de jos, lăsându-se doar coroana cu frunze care reprezenta capul. Kupalo lua parte în fiecare an la ritualul focului. Femei şi bărbaţi, fete şi băieţi săreau peste un mare foc „al prieteniei” trăgând fiecare în urma lor această păpuşă ce reprezenta zeiţa solstiţiului. A doua zi urma ritualul spălării la care participau toţi locuitorii din satul respectiv. Cu mare alai, păpuşa era dusă până la malul unui râu şi lăsată să fie purtată de ape, credinţa fiind că o dată cu ea vor pleca toate lucrurile rele, boli, necazuri, secetă, neînţelegeri, iar anul care va urma va fi îmbelşugat şi fericit.

Beltane – das “Siegesfest der Sonne”

Eines der wichtigsten Feste überhaupt.

Ursprung und Bedeutung: Sommer-Anfang

Ein Fest des Lebens,
der Fruchtbarkeit,
der Vereinigung,
der Zeugung und
des Sieges der Sonne und des Sommers über den Winter.

Jahrestag und Jahresnacht

Die Kelten nennen das Sommerhalbjahr auch “Jahrestag” und das Winterhalbjahr “Jahresnacht”.

Die Intensität der Wirkung der Sonne und ihre Lebensspendende Kraft gepaart mit dem Wissen der Mondin haben jetzt das Winterhalbjahr besiegt, hier beginnt der Jahrestag, die Vereinigung von Himmel und Erde.

Der Winter, gekennzeichnet von Kälte, Hunger, Krankheiten und Tod – eine gefährliche Jahreszeit – ist vorüber.

Jetzt zieht der Sommer ein, die Sonne übernimmt das Feld mit ihrer lebenspendenden Wärme, trägt Knospen und Blühten und beschänkt uns mit vielen Früchten bis in den Herbst hinein

Glück und Freude, die die ersten Sonnenstrahlen und der Beginn des Frühjahrs und Sommers bringen, bedeuteten sie doch, daß das Leben weitergeht, daß es durch-aus-zu-er-lebt und be-g-reift, einen weiteren Sommer-Zyklus lang, einen Jahrestag, liegt ein halbes Jahr lang vor uns und entfaltet sich .

1. Mai

Mit dem 1. Mai beginnt das Sommerhalbjahr, das vor allem durch Fröhlichkeit, Wärme, Licht, Feste und Feiern gekennzeichnet ist.

Der 1. Mai liegt zwischen der Frühlings-Tag-und-Nachtgleiche und der Sommersonnwende.
Beltane wurde früher am nächstgelegenen Vollmond, heute allerdings vorwiegend in der Nacht auf den 1. Mai gefeiert.

Dieser Vollmond ereignet sich in 2009 am Freitag, den 8. Mai

Namensbedeutung von BEL-TANE

Beltane ist das Fest der “Strahlenden Sonne”.

BEL bedeutet strahlend, leuchtend, glänzend.
TENE oder auch TEINE ist das “Feuer”.

Der keltische Sonnengott trägt den Namen “Belenus”, “Bel”, “Bal”.

Heilige Hochzeit

Beltane ist das Fest der großen Vermählung, auch Heilige Hochzeit genannt,
die Götterhochzeit Hieros Gamos – die Vermählung von Himmel und Erde.

Und im kleineren Maßstab die Vermählung von König und Königin, König und Land.

Denn die Königin war immer schon die Repräsentantin des Landes, der Erde und des Volkes.

In den germanischen Bereichen ist diese Götterhochzeit überliefert in der Brautwerbung Odins [Wotan] um die Himmelsherrin Freya.

Dionysos-Kult

Auch im griechischen Dionysos-Kult sehen wir das deutlich.

Im Zentrum steht der Zeugungsakt, die Voraussetzung für die Entstehung neuen Lebens und als solche auch Voraussetzung für die Auferstehung, für die Wiedergeburt. Dionysos verdankt sein Leben der großen Götterhochzeit, wie sein Name besagt: Dionysos heißt “Sohn Gottes” von DIOS = “Gott” und NYSOS = ” Nachfolger, Frucht, Sohn, Erbe”. Seine Mutter war SEMELE, eine phrygische Göttin, deren Name “Erde” bedeutet.
Dionysos war demnach der Sohn Gottes und der Erde.

Sein Name steht für die mystische Vereinigung,
für das rauschhaft-erotische Treiben, das alle Frühlingsfeste in allen Kulturen ausmacht.

Dagda & Morgana

Auch die Iren hatten einen solchen Mythos, wo Gott Dagda (= Großer Gott/Sonne) und Morrigain = Morgana (= Große Königin/Erdmutter) sich in der Heiligen Hochzeit vereinten.

Ihre geschlechtliche Vereinigung fand unter der Erde statt in einem Dolmen Irlands, der heute noch als das “Bett der Gatten” bezeichnet wird. Der Sonnenstrahl, der in die Erde eíndringt und dort neues Leben zeugt und die Erde befruchtet.

Jahreskönig

Vom Jahreskreislauf her ist es so, daß der Jahreskönig, der an Jul = Wintersonnwende (heute auf Weihnachten verschoben) geboren wird, bis zu Beltane zum Jüngling herangewachsen ist und seine Königswürde einfordert.

Das wird in vielen alten Ritualen dargestellt, wo der junge Königsanwärter sich beweisen muß, indem er z.B. den mächtigsten Hirsch im Wald erlegt und damit seine Stärke beweist. Dieses Ritual wird wunderbar in dem Buch “Die Nebel von Avalon ” von Marion Zimmer-Bradley beschrieben. Es gibt heute noch in vielen Gegenden sogenannte “Hirschwiesen”, die auf dieses alte Ritual hinweisen.

Maibräuche:

Maibaum

Zu den wichtigsten Bräuchen, die sich bis heute erhalten haben, gehört die Aufstellung des MAIBAUMS.
Während heute nur noch im Dorfmittelpunkt oder an einem besonderen Platz dieser Maibaum aufgestellt wird unter ganz besonderen Feierlichkeiten, gab es in früheren Zeiten fast in jedem Garten einen Maibaum.
Zur Zeit Maria Theresias hatte dieser Brauch so gigantische Formen angenommen, daß die Kaiserin 1741 das weitere Aufstellen verbot, da viele tausend Baümchen umgeschnitten wurden. Sie standen nicht nur vor jedem Haus, sie standen oft sogar in jedem Zimmer.
Dieser MAIBAUM hatte eine ganz besondere Bedeutung.

Vor dem Aufstellen wird der Maibaum festlich geschmückt. Er bekommt einen KRANZ aus frischem Grün, der von den Mädchen und jungen Frauen des Dorfes gewunden wird. Außer Weiden, Birken und Tannenreis werden auch viele Frühlingsblumen mit eingeflochten. Oft enthält der “Maien” noch Eier, Gebildbrote und Würste. Mancherorts erhält der Maibaum auch eine Krone aus Metall und bunten Bändern, die schräg über den Stamm gewickelt werden. Der Maibaum hatte die kultische Bedeutung eines “Riesen-Phallus”, der in die lebengebärende Erde gerammt wurde und auf diese Weise die Götterhochzeit versinnbildlichte. Der Maikranz, der an der Spitze angebracht wurde, konnte einerseits Symbol der Vulva, andererseits durch die darin eingeflochtenen jungen Reiser und Heilpflanzen Symbol für neues Leben und Gesundheit sein.

Der enge Zusammenhang Maibaum – Erdmutter ist heute noch daraus ableitbar, daß der Maibaum jetzt vielerorts auch “Marienbaum” genannt wird. Der Phallus ist Symbol für die schöpferische lebensweckende Kraft des Himmels, die ja vor allem gerade für das bäuerliche Leben von ungeheurer Wichtigkeit ist.

Ohne diese Kraft gibt es kein Leben und keine überlebenswichtige Fruchtbarkeit.

Und mit dem Tanz und dem Verweben und Verknüpfen der Bänder (Bändertanz um den Maibaum) drückt man sowohl eine erotisches Geschehen unter den Geschlechtern aus – als auch die Verknüpfung der drei Welten (Himmel, Erde Anderswelt), die durch den Maibaum auch symbolisiert werden und nun fest in das Gefüge des Lebens selbst eingewoben werden.

Walpurgisnacht

Walpurgis war die Maikönigin, eine heidnische Göttin, die später christianisiert und dann heiligesprochen wurde, da man sie nicht loswerden konnte: siehe Kloster der Heiligen Walpurga in “Heiden-Heim”.

In Böhmen und Niederösterreich wird “Walpurga” als weiße (Farbe!) Frau (Göttin) mit feurigen Schuhen (Erwärmung der Erde), einer goldenen Krone (Sonne), Mit Spiegeln (Seelenspiegel, Wiederauferstehung) und Spindel (Spinnen des Schicksals) dargestellt. Sie ist ein Sonnensymbol.
Ihr Fest wird gefeiert in der letzen Nacht der dunklen Jahreshälfte, also vom 30. April auf den 1. Mai.

In dieser Nacht öffnen sich die Türen zur Anderswelt, und die Schleier zwischen den Welten werden dünn.

Der Volksglaube weiß noch folgendes: unterirdische Schätze steigen hoch und glühen, Brunnen geben Wein statt Wasser (aus der heilgen Quelle des Dionysos quillt ebenfalls Wein heraus), Weidenzweige werden Wünschelruten. Von der weißen Frau fällt der Tau auf die Erde und befruchtete sie. Daher sollte in der Walpurgisnacht reichlich Tau fallen. Noch heute werden die Mädchen mit Wasser begossen, denn Maitau macht schön und erhält gesund

Auch die Brautschau und Brautwahl ist mit dieser Kultnacht verbunden.

Nicht von ungefähr wurden früher die meisten Hochzeiten im Mai gefeiert.
Begleitet wurde diese Walpurgisnacht von Musik und Tanz.

Der anfangs fröhliche, später immer ekstatischer werdende Kulttanz entfacht eine gemeinsame Trance, in der es möglich ist, aus der ganz “normalen Realität” auszusteigen und Kontakt mit der Anderswelt zu bekommen, Energien in sich zu entfachen, die für einen außenstehenden Beobachter furchteinflößend oder zumindest befremdend anmuten könnten. Das führte auch zu den Verteufelungen der Walpurgisnacht durch das Christentum als Hexensabbath.

Hexenfeuer

Mythologisch finde die Walpurgisnacht – ähnlich dem keltischen Fest Beltane – als Mondfest in der Nacht des ersten Vollmondes zwischen der Frühjahrstagundnachtgleiche und der Sommersonnenwende statt.

Traditionell gilt jedoch die Nacht vom 30. April auf den 1. Mai als die Nacht, in der angeblich die Hexen insbesondere auf dem Blocksberg (eigentlich Brocken), aber auch an anderen erhöhten Orten ein großes Fest abhalten.

Es gibt verschiedene alte Hexentanzplätze. Der berühmteste Hexentanzplatz im Harz ist der Brocken. Schon Goethe war hier 1777 und hat diesen Ort in seinen Faust mit aufgenommen.

Im Faust beschreibt Goehte eine solche Walpurigsnacht. In den alten Geschichten wird immer davon berichtet, wie die Hexen auf ihren Besen reitend durch die Lüfte fliegen, sich auf diesen Bergen treffen und dann ausschweifende erotisch-orgiastische Feste feierten. Natürlich mit dem Teufel!

Die Hintergründe waren natürlich ganz anderer Art.

Der Hexenbesen waren mitgebrachte Reisigzweige und Weidenruten, mit denen ein kultischer Zaun, eine “Einhegung” vorgenommen wurde, wo der Platz geschützt und abgegrenzt war.

In germanischer Kultzeit, war die Walpurgisnacht die Nacht, in der sich die heilige Priesterschaft traf, um ihre Nachfolger zu zeugen. Bestimmte Thruden sollten sich in dieser Nacht mit besonders ausgewählten Priestern vereinigt haben, um mit ihnen die Nachkommen im Irminonenstand zu zeugen. Die Priester trugen Masken und ein Hirschgeweih, an welchem man den Einweihungsgrad erkennen konnte. Auch das dürfte für ungebetene Zuschauer furchteinflößend und unheimlich gewesen sein. Man kann sich gut vorstellen, was daraus für Gerüchte und Verteufelungen entstanden sind, die dann im Mittelalter bis zur Hexenverfolgung geführt haben.”

CHI ERANO I BERSERKIR ?

Se dico Berserkr cosa viene in mente a un giovane d’oggi che si interessa d’arte? Un sacco di cose, immagino. Il fumetto manga di Miura, per esempio, oppure il ciclo di romanzi fantascientifici di Saberhagen. O ancora il mitico videogioco degli anni ‘80, il gruppo EBM degli APOPTYGMA BERZERK e quello metal dei BERSERK. Sono tantissimi e tutti diversi i riferimenti che il termine Berserkr (al plurale Berserkir) richiama alla mente. Facciamo un po’ di ordine allora, cominciando col vedere l’origine di questo termine. Secondo il dizionario etimologico Cleasby-Vigfusson deriverebbe da “berr”, orso (dal tedesco baer) e serkr, maglia (dallo scozzese sark cioè shirt), “cappotto d’orso” quindi. Sembra invece non trovare riscontro l’interpretazione etimologica del termine che vorrebbe la prima parte “berr” tradotta con “bare” (“nudo” in inglese) ottenendo quindi una traduzione che suona più o meno “a torso nudo”. Chi erano dunque i Berserkir? Principalmente erano guerrieri vichinghi che attraverso un giuramento al dio Odino (massima entità degli dei vichinghi e nordici in genere) entravano in possesso, secondo la mitologia, di poteri soprannaturali che li rendevano insensibili alle ferite a al fuoco. Venivano  assoldati dai re nordici danesi e norvegesi come truppe d’elite e durante le battaglie combattevano nella prima fila dello schieramento, completamente nudi e coperti solo da pelli d’orso o di lupo (in questo caso il nome si tramutava in ulfhednar -”mantello di lupo”). Si narra anche che, prima di ogni scontro per effetto del giuramento a Odino, entrassero in uno stato di agitazione fisica e psichica conosciuto col termine di berserksgangr. Questo stato viene così descritto: il soggetto comincia a tremare, battere i denti ed è pervaso da una sensazione di freddo nel corpo. La faccia si gonfia e cambia colore. Segue una grande rabbia, l’ululare e una forte propensione alla rissa. Quando la rabbia svanisce, il berserkr è completamente stremato, condizione che perdura anche per diversi giorni. Non sono poche le saghe che descrivono questi guerrieri negli avamposti dell’esercito schierato a battaglia, mentre ululano, sbattono la spada sugli elmi, mordono i loro scudi e infine si avventano sul nemico come animali assetati di sangue. Pare che l’unico modo per fermarli fosse asportare loro il cuore oppure la testa, in quanto erano completamente insensibili al dolore e in preda a un raptus che spesso li costringeva ad attaccare non solo gli avversari ma anche gli alleati. In alcune saghe, per esempio, si narra che dei berserkir, una volta terminata lo scontro col nemico, per esaurire la propria furia omicida avessero attaccato e saccheggiato dei villaggi amici, violentandone le donne. Nella leggenda di Hrolf Kraki, invece, il campione berserk di quest’ultimo, Bothvar Bjarki (personaggio che è stato fonte di ispirazione anche per il buon vecchio Tolkien) stando a quel che si dice, combatteva con le sembianze di un grosso orso. Anche nella Saga di Volsunga il guerriero Sigmund e suo figlio Sinfjotli indossavano pelli di lupo, usavano il linguaggio dei lupi e ululavano quando attaccavano. Tornando ai riferimenti prettamente storici pare che Erik il Rosso, colui che scoprì l’America quasi 500 anni prima di Colombo, fosse un berserk e Harald Bellachioma (Harald I di Norvegia) era fra quei re prima menzionati che usava questi potenti guerrieri come truppe d’elite. In generale quasi tutti i re pagani del nord utilizzavano queste soldati come guardie del corpo: una squadra di dodici uomini è la formazione più comunemente riportata nelle fonti. Anche durante le battaglie navali, che fra i popoli del nord erano frequenti, i feroci guerrieri consacrati a Odino avevano un posto in prima fila. Combattevano infatti sul castello di prua della nave del re; lo spazio tra la poppa e la mezzeria era chiamato rausn, o difesa avanzata, e questo era il posto destinato ai berserkir. Ma la loro fortuna nelle fredde lande del nord era purtroppo destinata a finire con l’avvento del cristianesimo. Intorno all’anno mille in Islanda (il primo vescovo islandese viene consacrato tale nel 1056) la furia dei berserkir fu in pratica dichiarata fuori legge e i ferini combattenti furono considerati come una sorta di demoni satanici; le saghe del periodo li rappresentano come buffoni pazzi adatti soltanto a essere fatti a pezzi da un vero eroe. Anche nella penisola scandinava Erik Jarl di Norvegia nel 1015 lì bandì dal regno seguendo la legge cristiana. In pratica nel 1100 i berserkir organizzati erano spariti. Spariti per entrare nella leggenda.

NUOVE TEORIE SUI BERSERKIR

In tempi recenti il tema è tornato d’attualità. Soprattutto l’analisi e lo studio sulla condizione di berserksgangr ha portato alcuni studiosi ad avanzare delle teorie suggestive. Secondo il professore statunitense Jesse L.Byock, questa rabbia potrebbe essere stata causata dal morbo di Paget, che comporta l’ingrossamento delle ossa del cranio e come prova a sostegno cita le teste grosse e sgradevoli di Egill Skallagrimssonar nella saga di Egil. Altri associano la condizione di rabbia e tremore incontrollato all’epilessia e all’isteria. In particolare la tesi sull’epilessia risulta interessante se pensiamo che l’essere Berserk era una condizione ereditaria come quella di epilettico. C’è infine chi crede che le società dei feroci guerrieri nordici facesse uso di infusi a base di amanita muscaria, un fungo allucinogeno, i cui effetti sono molto simili a quelli provocati dal berserksgangr. Ragionando sul fenomeno anche al sottoscritto è venuto l’ardore di azzardare qualche teoria che non ha a che fare né con la scienza, né con la storia, ma più che altro con le credenze mitologiche che in passato, ma anche ai nostri giorni, si sono tramandate di generazione in generazione nelle culture occidentali ma non solo. Penso alla figura mitica dei lupo mannaro o del vampiro, per esempio. Il fatto che per uccidere questi guerrieri bisognasse staccar loro la testa o il cuore, che si vestissero da lupi e che parlassero come loro e soprattutto che a volte rivolgessero la loro rabbia anche contro amici e alleati, in pratica contro chiunque gli si parasse davanti non può non farmi tornare alla mente i licantropi e i figli del buio assetati di sangue umano che hanno regalato tante notti insonni alle nostre generazioni. Che tutto sia nato in una fredda landa del nord una notte di 1300 anni fa? La cosa non mi stupirebbe. D’altronde i miti e gli archetipi nascono e si trasformano nel tempo e nello spazio da sempre: il mito del guerriero invincibile che sfida e sconfigge l’uomo-bestia inferocito e cattivo,  il brutto e deforme incompreso che si rifugia nella solitudine e anche il numero di dodici (penso agli apostoli) soldati alla corte del re, devoti e instancabili servitori (anche se poi nel caso degli apostoli ce n’è uno che tradisce). Figure e numeri che tornano dal profondo della storia, per rivelarsi sotto nuove forme e nuove pelli. Quelle di lupo e di orso dei berserkir.

Gerüchte machen Moslems nervös, daß die Matriarchin Rahel israelischen Soldaten in Gaza erschienen sei und ihnen im Gefecht den Weg gewiesen habe. Israels ehemaliger Hauptrabbiner Mordechai Eliyahu hat bekannt gegeben, daß er selbst es gewesen sei, der sie gesandt habe. Gewöhnlich sind es Moslems, die sich durch Gottes Hand geführt fühlen, während die Juden als ungläubig und verweltlicht verteufelt werden. Die Juden hätten sich von ihren Geboten abgewandt und hätten ihre Propheten verfolgt und seien deshalb von Gott verflucht. Auf der Website the elder of ziyon heißt es abschließend:

„Die Terroristen, die beten, daß ihre Kassam-Raketen jüdische Kinder töten, scheint ein wenig unbehaglich zu werden, daß die Juden zur gleichen Zeit um Hilfe beten, die Terroristen zu töten. Es ist fast so, als würden sie im Innersten begreifen, daß Gott tatsächlich eher auf Seite der Juden steht, wie Er es offenbar schon bei anderen Kriegen zwischen Juden und Arabern getan hat.“

Leute wie Peter Scholl-Latour haben immer wieder darauf hingewiesen, daß atheistisch-rationalistische Intellekte, insbesondere sogenannte „Islam-Experten“, den Nahost-Konflikt strukturell, d.h. von ihrer Charakterstruktur her, niemals werden verstehen können. Ihre „Expertise“ etwa über die „Road Map“ ist von vornherein nichtig. Ob wir es akzeptieren können oder nicht: es geht um den Kampf zwischen Göttern und die einzige Hoffnung auf Frieden ist der Untergang des einen Gottes. Schließlich sind auch die germanischen und die hellenistischen Götter sang- und klanglos verschwunden, nachdem sie sich als impotent erwiesen hatten.

Die Atheisten glauben, daß im Lichtglanze der Aufklärung sich schließlich auch der christliche Gott in nichts aufgelöst hat, wie zuvor Wotan, als die christlichen Priester die heiligen Eichen fällten, ohne vom Blitz erschlagen zu werden. „Der Himmel ist leer!“ Das ist jedoch eine grausame Illusion: es kann kein Vakuum geben. Ihr habt Gott getötet – und dadurch zwangsläufig seinem Widersacher den Weg geebnet.

Das Böse wird zunehmend zu einem Faszinosum, mit dem man sich identifizieren und dem man nacheifern kann. Es ist cool, böse und ohne Gefühl zu sein. Je sinnloser und nihilistischer die Tat ist, um so besser. Der Aufbau, der Erhalt und die Verteidigung des Lebens ist langwierig, mühsam und mit einem langen Spannungsbogen verbunden. Die Zerstörung des Lebens ist leicht, schnell und mit einem lustigen Knalleffekt verbunden. Das Böse ist marktgängiger als das Gute. Und da man gelernt hat, daß diese Gesellschaft im Kern böse ist („strukturelle Gewalt“), ist es gewissermaßen sogar gut und progressiv das Böse zu propagieren.

Ihr lacht über die Unvernunft der Moslems, Juden und Christen und glaubt doch tatsächlich allen ernstes ihr wäret „Atheisten“ und „aufgeklärt“ und ihr bringet das Licht, wenn ihr euch von Gott abwendet. In Wirklichkeit seid ihr verflucht, seid Sklaven Satans.

Ahhh, a little taste of spring in late December. How cruel, Mother Nature! Temps went well into the 60s in NJ this weekend. I wore flip flops and a tee shirt to work on Sunday. But I did have the luxury of riding outdoors under the lights with some of my favorite barn buddies. I’ll trade that for a few cold nights :^)

Before I rode, I helped my friend with some saddle fitting questions with her mare, Mary. They took a quick ride in my old (over 30 years old) Stubben Wotan. That saddle was given to me by my grandma when I was a little kid. I rode in it for years but I sadly outgrew it. It still fits my friend and it looked to fit decently on Mary.

I ride Wizard in a Stubben Portos. My other saddle is a Moritz dressage saddle. It fit Alibar pretty well but it looks to not be shaped right for Wizard. The Portos was a little narrow on Alibar.

I tacked Wizard up and we began our session with hand walking around the arena, followed by a short longeing session (a little less than 15 minutes). Wizard again longed like a champ- quite a far cry from the confusion from Session 17, which was less than a month ago! Wizard is continuing to take contact on the longe line and is responding really well to verbal, whip, and line cues. He’s not completely trained to verbal commands yet but his lengthened (and a bit speedier) trot when I cluck, cluck is pretty impressive!

I’m now able to walk around the arena and plant myself and Wizard does circles wherever I ask. For the first time, I longed him over a ground pole and he took it beautifully. He also longed through a big puddle like a perfect water horse.

I kicked the intensity up a notch and asked him to longe in the far corner of the arena. He slowed down considerably but maintained his trot. He began to creep toward me on the circle so I told him to move out and just tickled him with the lash of the longe whip. That was all the encouragement he needed to have what my friend Cathy calls “a Thoroughbred moment”. He leapt into a speedy canter and bowed out on the circle, pulling on my arm. I simply made the circle bigger and kept him moving. When we were back at our happy working trot, I allowed him to move away from the far corner. Although he was being silly, it felt good to me because I was in complete control the entire time and it did not feel confusing at all. I knew exactly what to do and he came right back to me.

My comment about a “Thoroughbred moment” is playfully said. I’ve known people who owned every breed under the sun and there are similar jokes about them all: Appaloosas have App-Attacks, Arabians become giraffes, etc. In my mind, they are all HORSES and horses tend to turn into horses every once in a while. And if you can calmly guide them back to Earth with a smile and a plan, you get a gold star.

I wish I was so confident in the saddle. I rode for a little under 15 minutes and felt a similar tension from Wizard when I began to think about the trot. We walked in patterns, stepped over ground poles, and worked on our little quarter-turns. But when I started thinking about the trot, my body must have cued him far before I meant to. He’s not nervous, he feels more impatient, like, “time to trot, lady!” I have a feeling that I’m holding back too much and I need to give in and ride through the trot a little more. Each one of these baby steps leaves me teetering on the cliff for a second before I leap to the next level. It’s not for lack of experience- I’ve ridden dozens of horses at a far faster gait than a trot. I think it’s more of a combination of me micro-managing him, worrying about messing him up, and me not having ridden in any meaningful way for almost a year. My friend Sarah said that she’ll be my “eyes on the ground” later in the week. I trust her opinion and her experience. I’ve know her for many years and she’s a beautiful rider, plus she’s the daughter of my former trainer who taught me bunches about jumping and horses in general.

We had two walk to trot transitions and the first one was better than the second. Both were better than the transitions indoors from the ride before. So it’s a little better, but still awkward. I blame myself entirely. Wizard is clearly getting more fit and supple and even his chiropractor said that he’s more than ready for more work.

So I rode for five days straight and he’s getting Sunday off. It was educational to see how Wizard liked it. On the plus side, he became more focused and relaxed (other than his little explosion on the longe) and on the minus side, he seemed less interested in grooming. Since Wizard barely is breathing hard and rarely breaks a sweat, we’re not exactly riding with any serious physical momentum. But it’s mental work and he is getting more supple and responsive. I can also see him getting WAY more graceful on the longe line. He does not look like four giant legs going in four directions anymore. And he can control his pace. The only time he canters on the longe is when he breaks into a canter on his own and I always ask him for a downward transition. I feel like he’s still a little too green for canter work on the longe. Trotting is best for strengthening him, anyway.

So for the next two weeks or so, we have a few plans on the horizon: a visit from the farrier on Saturday (he’s barefoot and I’d like to keep him that way this winter), worming with a Panacur PowerPac, and working on getting a calm and balanced trot/transition under saddle.

Where does all those myriads of impulses that we have each day have their root? Some of our inclinations are naturally just echo’s of our desires. I am hungry, so i go and find something to eat. I would like a cup of coffee, or tea or a soda. Or i have made my body addicted to some drug – like tobacco, and feel an urge to light up a cigarette. Sex is also very natural. In men the bodily fluids build up over hours, days or weeks – depending on the age. And it has been proven that it can be harmful for the prostate gland to avoid ejaculation. These simple inclinations are easy to understand. And our habits, both good and bad are likewise easy to understand. They are patterns of thought, or movement, in our mind. Nothing more, nothing less. Horrible to break at first, but as you get to know yourself better over the years, they loose the ability to scare us – and we (unless we are ignorant of our own mind) can change more easily.

But I’m thinking about greater things than these. Where does these images that we believe are our thoughts come from? They appear, last for a micron of time – enough to inspire us, then vanish without a trace. Unless you do like me and write them down as fast as possible.

No matter what question i come up with. No matter how mundane or complex it might be; even if i just meditate on the number 9 or demand to know the composition of a banana. Sooner or later the actual solution – or the inspiration that leads to the solution – presents itself. How can this be? How can a picture of a solution, an inspiration and shape that i have never seen before, enter the human mind and present itself before me? And just as quickly as it came in – it vanishes into thin air (unless i jot it down on a piece of paper).

I once wrote in my diary, that human beings can never create anything that is not already in them. It looks like a small and childish saying at first, but give it some time and see what happens: there is not a single thing we have constructed so far that is not already a part of our own being. Roads, transportation, production, recycling, communication – all these things are just extensions of our own bodies. The ancients believed that the body was the physical extension of the soul, and that a house is the extension of the body – and the village the extension of the group – and so fourth. Perhaps that’s not such a stupid idea after all.

And then, when i think about this connection that we all have, these seeming sudden flashes of insight, these inspirations that leads to solutions. What can can we make of those?
I know. It’s probably low on the cool factor. Yet everyone has them. At first we don’t notice them, we think it’s our own brilliance that produces them. And it can very well be that there is an intelligence embedded in our lower strata that recycle experiences and memory – as the Greeks called MNEMOSYNE, that deals with these things. But somehow i doubt that, first and foremost because people seem to receive the same inspiration, at the same time, at different parts of the globe. But only people that are capable (by some standard) of receiving that particular piece of information (however weird that might sound). It would be interesting to run a statistics on patent registration and time frames. When they are registered and how similar they are.

That inner knowing

But then i started to think about these heretic Gnostic’s. Unless you are blind, deaf and dumb – you must have understood by now that most of our Gods are just personifications of the Sun. But the Gnostic’s kept on proclaiming that we came from somewhere else. So where the orthodoxy at the time were in fact sun worshippers and zodiac zealots – the concept of Gnosis (to know) was different. I don’t for a second believe that they were correct any more than i believe that our current religions are right. I am spiritual, but not impressed with the menu.

As i ponder these things, images of the ancient muses dance before my inner vision. But i also hear weak voices of quantum entanglement not so far away. Clearly thoughts of my own subconscious making, but still – impressive if that was indeed what the Gnostic’s meant (although i fear we are projecting knowledge onto their doctrines they didn’t posses). But it is a curious scientific theory floating around, stating that once two particles have been in contact – they will forever be entangled (connected) – even across the entire universe. So if i do something (or think something) – that action is instantaneously recorded by the other. Is this how the one, the one God, knows what all his fragments are doing – all at the same time? Perhaps.

Entanglement reminds me of the ramblings of the Gnostic Paul (and he was a Gnostic), when he said that God can’t separate himself from us. Because once we are connected to him – we remain so for all eternity.

And it also reminds me of a Hindu legend (of Lemuria), that explains in great detail how human souls were injected into this part of the galaxy – and that we went here of our own free will. But sadly, we forgot our original home – even though we are eternally connected to that source. And the source was Orion. A complete correspondence with Egyptian, Babylonian and Chinese lore.

While tales of these things are soaked in myth and legends, the facts remains. Human being has the capacity to recieve information that does not originate from memory or experience. Whatever name you put on it is irrellevant. And it’s no doubt this capacity that makes us evolve by leaping forward in understanding. We went from monkey to man in one gigant missing leap.

We will know what it is in due time i guess. But until then, i will enjoy the dance of the muses as moved by Apollo. The chimes of Plato’s spheres. And in the distance, i hear the feet of Shiva dancing – far, far beyond the cosmos.

6. Dacă cineva, împins de Diavol, va crede, după obiceiul păgânilor, că un bărbat sau o femeie este vrăjitor sau vrăjitoare şi că mănâncă oameni, şi pe acest temei va arde acea persoană, sau va da carnea acelei persoane altora să o mănânce, sau o va mânca el însuşi, să fie pedepsit cu moartea.

7. Dacă cineva, potrivit riturilor păgâne, va arde trupul unui om mort, lăsând doar oase şi cenuşă, să fie pedepsit cu moartea.

8. Dacă de acum înainte cineva din neamul saxonilor, va dori să se ascundă nebotezat va lua în derâdere botezul şi va dori să rămână păgân, să fie pedepsit cu moartea.

9. Dacă cineva va sacrifica un om Diavolului şi, după obiceiul păgânilor, îl va aduce ca ofrandă demonilor, să fie pedepsit cu moartea.

10. Dacă cineva va unelti împreună cu păgânii sau va dori să li se alăture împotriva creştinilor, să fie pedepsit cu moartea; şi oricine a consimţit la aceeaşi înşelăciune împotriva regelui şi a poporului creştin, să fie pedepsit cu moartea.

11. Dacă cineva se va dovedi necredincios regelui, să fie pedepsit cu moartea.

12. Dacă cineva o va silui pe fata stăpânului său, să fie pedepsit cu moartea.

13. Dacă cineva îşi va ucide stăpânul sau stăpâna, să fie pedepsit aşijderea.

14. Dar dacă cel care a comis aceste crime pe ascuns se va duce de bună voie la un preot şi, după spovedanie, va dori să facă penitenţă, să-i fie cruţată viaţa pe temeiul mărturiei preotului.

15. Fiecărei biserici enoriaşii să-i dăruiască o casă şi două mansi de pământ, şi pentru fiecare 120 de oameni, nobili şi liberi, sau neliberi, să-i fie daţi bisericii un slujitor şi o slujnică.

16. Şi s-a hotărât, pentru slava lui Christos, ca din orice va fi adus la vistierie, fie pentru o încălcare a păcii sau pentru orice pedeapsă de orice fel, şi din toate veniturile aparţinând regelui, să fie dată o zecime bisericilor şi preoţilor.

17. De asemenea, împuternicit de Dumnezeu, le poruncesc tuturor, atât nobili cât şi oameni liberi sau neliberi, să dea o zecime din bunurile şi munca lor bisericilor şi preoţilor. Din ceea ce Dumnezeu va da fiecărui creştin, o parte trebuie înapoiată lui Dumnezeu.

18. Iar în ziua Domnului să nu se ţină nici o adunare sau divan de judecată, decât în cazul unei pricini grabnice de mare însemnătate, şi toţi să se ducă la biserică pentru a asculta cuvântul Domnului, şi să fie liberi pentru rugăciuni şi fapte bune. De asemenea, de sărbători, să se închine lui Dumnezeu şi slujbelor bisericii şi să se abţină de la adunări laice.

19. De asemenea, s-a stabilit prin aceste edicte ca toţi copiii să fie botezaţi până într-un an, şi am hotărât că cine nu-şi va aduce copilul să fie botezat în acest timp şi nu va avea sfatul sau încuviinţarea preotului, să plătească, dacă este nobil 120 de solidi, dacă este om liber 60, iar dacă nu este om liber 30.

20. Dacă cineva va încheia o căsătorie interzisă sau ilegală va plăti, dacă e nobil 60 de solidi, dacă este liber 30, dacă nu este 15.

21. Dacă cineva se închină izvoarelor, arborilor şi pădurilor, sau dacă face vreo ofrandă potrivit obiceiurilor păgâne şi dacă merge la ospeţe în cinstea idolilor, să plătească 60 de solidi dacă este nobil, 30 dacă este om liber, 15 dacă nu este om liber. Dacă nu poate plăti, atunci el va fi încredinţat Bisericii, pe care o va sluji până când toţi solidi vor fi achitaţi.

22. Poruncim ca trupurile saxonilor creştini să fie înmormântate în cimitirele bisericilor şi nu în movilele păgânilor.

23. Poruncim ca prezicătorii şi ghicitorii să fie încredinţaţi bisericii şi preoţilor.

33. Cu privire la sperjur, să se urmeze legea saxonilor.

34. Interzicem tuturor saxonilor să ţină întruniri publice, cu excepţia cazului în care trimisul nostru (missus), urmând porunca noastră, îi va chema să se adune. Fiecare comite va ţine adunarea sa şi va orândui dreptatea în comitatul său.
