Of course, there’s much not to like on You Tube, but, for guitar fanatics, it can also be mana from heavens: never before so much great footage has been so readily available to the public, from rare footage of guitar legends (such as Jimmy Page playing with The Yardbirds on French TV) to brand new live footage from major acts just a few hours after their gigs took place. Ok, let’s admit it – most of us guitarists are a bit of geeks, who obssess about every single minutiae of guitar-related gear. GuitarGeek not only spells it out, but provide (via some pretty cool graphics) a look into the guitar rigs of hundreds of well-known guitarists. The website doesn’t seem to enjoy the same reputation it once had, as it’s not always 100% accurate, but hey – figuring out hundreds of rigs was never going to be an easy task! It’s quite interesting and if you have any doubts about any guitar rig, you can always use their forum, which seems to enjoy quite a bit of activity still.

8. FENDER.COM

Hey…how could we forget Fender? We couldn’t, of course! And Fender.com is a great place to be if you love all things Fender. Find the latest news, wallpapers, Fender artist profiles and videos,  and discuss Fender on the community forums.

9. BOSS US

Boss are the world’s leading manufacturer of FX pedals, and many, many guitarists rely on Boss for their tones. The BOSS website is excellent, with podcasts, downloads, audio & video, knowledge base and, best of all, some really cool interactive demos…

10. VINTAGE GUITARS

The vintageguitars.org.uk website is fascinating if you want to find out more about old and discontinued guitars, basses, fx and amps. From complete specs of an Epiphone Coronet to old Fender Mustang ads, this site has loads of info…it’s a great a trip down memory lane for older folks, and very educational if you’re a new enthusiast of vintage guitars and would like to learn more about them.

Objective: In a world where so much pressure is being put onto young adults to be “perfect” a world which spends so much time point out imperfections it is sometimes hard to find the strength from within to be a stronger person. It is sometimes easier to simply sit back and follow, just go along for the ride. This class will deal with inspiration and motivation. More specifically, this class will try to inspire students to be the best person that they can be and motivate them to want to be better. There is a huge difference between being “perfect” and being a good person, and this class will try to encourage students to improve themselves as a person. Be it to try something that they’ve always been afraid of, start something new, or change something about themselves (i.e negative outlook on life) that they’ve been meaning to change for a while. Objective: Today’s lesson at Trevor Day School is all about drug consumption and drug use. The lesson will touch on a variety of different drugs, such as marijuana, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, and crystal meth. It will inform the students of the effects that drugs can have on both the psychiatric and physical well being, as well as the effects that it can have on their future, including school, grades, college, and relationships with family, friends and partners. I will also discuss the possibility of death and the probability of prison. Basically this lesson will inform them of the collateral damage that drugs can have on their lives and the lives of the ones who love them. Furthermore, I will be informing them of their next homework assignment. By the time the students leave they should have a general knowledge of drugs and drug use, as well as the negative effects that might ensue as a result of using drugs.

…but all is good.  Incase you’re wondering, the youtube instructional video on crochet-ing is for my friend Linda.  Like me, she is often too busy to explore youtube.com.  Why do I know about crocheting videos on youtube you ask?  A good question indeed.  In September 2007, while attending Training and Development at Centennial College, we were being taught to teach.  Our prof’ was one of the coolest teachers I’ve ever had.  His curriculum involved each of us designing a training manual of somesort.  One of the homegirls from the smoke pit outdoor crew made her lesson plan around knitting.  She gave us all the materials neccesary to make a simple scarf.  The challenge of learning this new skill was very addictive.  Thus, leading to my youtube search.

Back to my friend Linda, she just loves to knit and crochet!  I had the chance to see some of her work and I must say I was truly moved by one piece.  I’ve asked her to finish this beautiful tapestry so that I can send it to my sponser child, Vithusha.

“Sentimento” è, probabilmente, la canzone più bella sentita quest’anno ad “Amici”. Ma è una canzone di classe, per cui difficilmente si comprende con facilità, nonostante la insistenza del pianoforte che fa, con le sue note, da contraltare alla voce di Valerio Scanu.

I presunti critici della finalissima di “Amici”, ad esempio, hanno frettolosamente giudicato questo pezzo come non radiofonico; qualcuno, addirittura, ha criticato il testo, perché troppo scontato, costruito com’è sulle rime sole-cuore-amore. Altri, ancora più fastidiosamente, hanno fatto apprezzamenti sulla melodia rea di essere troppo simile a “La prima cosa bella”.

Per rispondere a tutte queste corbellerie, basterebbe citare la classifica di vendite del sito www.dada.it, dove Valerio Scanu, interprete di questa canzone, è considerato il primo tra gli artisti top. Forse sarà un abbaglio, ma mi sa che i simpaticissimi rappresentanti delle radio ad “Amici” dovrebbero ripensare al fatto che a cinquant’anni suonati, nonostante i lifting, né la Pettinelli né Alvin riescono davvero ad essere sulla stessa linea d’onda del pubblico giovane.

Quand’ero giovane io, in effetti, in tv spadroneggiavano già proprio la suddetta (che ora, per sbarcare il lunario, fa la allegra comparsa in qualche reality poco visto, tipo “La Fattoria”, dove naturalmente non trova che Fabrizio Corona per polemizzare… e pensare che qualche anno fa presentava “Sex and the City”) e Linus: per carità, niente da dire sulla loro professionalità. Ma non sarà forse che sono un tantinello invecchiati nel frattempo? Magari, sarà anche per questo motivo che i giovani non ascoltano più la radio e preferiscono www.youtube.com. Ci facessero un giro, tanto per cambiare, tutt’e tre: facendo una breve ricerca, si osserva che di video di “Sentimento” ce ne sono 78. Il più visto è stato cliccato, in una settimana, 77194 volte.

Si vede che saranno tutti pensionati estasiati davanti allo Scanu.

Quanto a Mario Luzzatto Fegiz, il grande decano dei critici musicali italiani, a rispondere alle sue insinuazioni sulla melodia di “Sentimento”, basterebbe dire che sono ormai cinque-dieci anni che non riesce ad azzeccare una previsione sul dopo-Sanremo. Al festival, viene tollerato perché è un personaggio, come il suo sodale Aldo De Luca, che, giusto perché non è mai stato malato di protagonismo, faceva il sosia di Achille Occhetto al Bagaglino. Un luogo dove naturally non c’erano cuccioli di arroganza, ma semplicemente cuccioli di pirla, un po’ come il De Luca stesso.

In secondo luogo, verrebbe da chiedere a Luzzatto Fegiz cosa c’entri Valerio con la melodia di “Sentimento”. Lo Scanu non è l’autore della canzone: la canta, e pure magistralmente, tanto che fa venire i brividi anche a distanza. Il testo è talmente chiaro nella sua interpretazione che sembra tagliato col coltello. Non si ferma neppure, come qualche volta fa, a svolazzare con la sua agilità su tutte le note.

E allora, tirare fuori improbabili (anche musicalmente) paragoni è davvero opinabile. Come mai, per dirne una, lo stesso non ha detto una parola sul fatto che, e stavolta la cosa è provata, “Luca era gay” di Povia era tale e quale “Pensa”, sentita un anno prima a Sanremo, mica al festival delle cotiche di Acireale?

Aggiungiamo ancora qualcosa sul testo, visto che è sembrato a qualche illuminato troppo scontato: anche qui, è probabile che chi se n’è occupato lo abbia fatto tangenzialmente, che non ci abbia dedicato il tempo di una schedina. Si tratta invece di una vera e propria poesia: il sistema di rime amore/ cuore/ sole c’è anche in Petrarca e nessuno s’è mai sognato di sostenere che avesse osato troppo poco. E poi una poesia non si giudica solo dalle rime, ma dal modo nuovo o originale in cui esse stesse sono fatte rivivere.

La prima quartina è dominata, tanto per fare un esempio, da due immagini di profondità dolorosa: l’amore che “mi taglia nel petto e poi va dritto al cuore” e i pensieri che “affondano in lacrime”, metafore tormentate di una passione che è definita per ossimoro “semplicemente” nell’incipit. Non c’è, a ben vedere, nessuna semplicità in quello che si canta con queste parole: c’è invece la forza del bisogno che cerca di trovare una strada per esprimersi e non fa altro che regalare dolore.

La seconda quartina, dal canto suo, è invece dominata, per opposizione, da due immagini di altezza estasiante: al negativo della profondità della passione, corrisponde, infatti, un positivo movimento verso l’alto. Colei cui si rivolge chi scrive è condotta a “volare/ più in alto del manto di nuvole che copre il sole”; subito dopo, anche la voce narrante la raggiunge: “E ti raggiungerò e sarò nel vento che fa incontrare”. Da notare che seppure con parole semplici il tessuto fonico di questa strofa è di alto livello: i fonemi di “volare” si disseminano in tutto il verso, dando vita a “alto”, “nuvole” e “sole”, in un gioco di liquide; ma la prima e la seconda ascensione sono collegate anche dalla consonanza preziosa tra “manto (di nuvole)” e “vento”, personificato come agente dell’incontro tra i due amanti e come strumento di ascesi.

Non è a caso che dopo il primo ascolto tanti abbiano scritto che “Sentimento” era una canzone splendida. Non è un caso che il pubblico, molto prima che la critica, abbia capito dove stava il vero talento.

Whether you’re a home builder or not, I highly recommend Three Proven YouTube Strategies for Homebuilders on The Armory Blog by Brendan Miller. He asks the question “Can YouTube be used as a marketing and lead generation tool instead of just a sales tool for builders?” and you should be asking the same for your business, blog, brand, etc.

On his list of suggestions (see article for details):

1) Create a contest

2) Do Something Outrageous With Your Product

3) Be A Thought Leader

Fortunately his advice doesn’t just apply to Youtube and it doesn’t just apply to home builders either. No matter where you’re posting videos whether you’re a real estate agent, restaurant owner or if you’ve started a new business using a Bedazzler you should do more than take notes, take action!

As a side note, it’s worth mentioning that while he searched for “Home Builder” on Youtube to see what surfaced, but you should put serious thought into how you’re customers and potential customers would search for your product and the best way to figure that out is to ask them directly! This is the kind of music we need today…

the government has a real big problem getting in stuuf that has nothig to do with them. the DTV had nothing to do with the government it was the networks problem. they are tring to stop people from sagging their pants and there not going to stop because the government has no right to tell people what to wear and how to wear it. puting people in jail because of how they wear it thats stupid. these laws are unconstitutional and should be thrown out

Ugh! What a Monday! Finally decided to take my vitamins only to throw them up leaving me to feel crummy all day, have sifted through 100 pages of job ads on indeed.com alone to find nothing, my apt is a mess, I have a headache that is creeping toward the “bad” headache title, and my “a” key is not working too well (must have been all the head banging against the keyboard at the frustration of the job situation). To top it all off the disease that is the laziness of unemployment is slowly poisoning me. Needless to say Zen is not coming to me today… So, I have to go to it!

1. DECIDE TO MAKE YOUR DAY BETTER! This is the first step in changing the ominous atmosphere that is Monday. Just do it. No one likes a whiner all the time.

2. Take a shower. Even if you already have, shower. You metaphorically wash away the disdain of the day whether it be a hideous beast of a work day or just all around crumminess.

3. Yoga, meditate, or any exercise. Release the endorphins! I’m not saying it has to be a sweat fest but even a few poses help. And yes yoga is manly too! 7. Text goofy faces pics or random facts to your friends. Their responses with crack you up forcing your face to smile.

8. Try masturbating. Google it people, it’s good for you. It releases stress, enhances self esteem, and releases those wonderful endorphins!

9. Invest in a goofy hat. I always wear my thinking helmet when I write at home or just need a pick me up. There is just something so Zen about wearing a Viking helmet!

10. If nothing else, curl up on the couch with your favorite throw and watch funny movies. Laughing is ALWAYS the cure! Among my new favs are Stepbrothers, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and Run Fat Boy Run.
