Currently thinking about “Cabs” and “Controls”.

Each cab could have several controls (levers, buttons, …) which are implemented by PlaneSensor, TouchSensor, CylinderSensor etc.

The cab would contain so-called “controls”, that take the input from the sensor nodes, distribute it to all scene instances and output the values again for routing to Transform nodes, Script nodes etc.

The interface between controls and cabs will be defined and documented, so far other people could develop their own “controls” (X3D prototypes)

So far the considerations – will start implementation next week end…….

Kind regards

Dear Reader

It’s the intention of this thread to host news about SrrTrains (simulated railroad trains) from time to time.

SrrTrains is an idea that is described on http://simulrr.wordpress.com/simul-rr and the latest step of SRR v0.01 is published at http://simulrr.wordpress.com/download-area#release.

SRR v0.01 is currently being a hobby project, completely done for free.

Latest release is “step 0021″, which is called “Tracer Enhancements”.

 – analyse SrrTrains software

Next step should be the implementation of a locomotive (in autumn 2009).

Hi all

After having read the book “X3D – Extensible 3D Graphics for Web Authors”, I thought it would be a good idea to use this technology for a hobby model railroad (a virtual one, a multiplayer one).

I found a description of BS Collaborate at the Web, a collaboration server that enables the Web Author to build multiuser X3D/VRML scenes, based on the Network Sensor proposal from Web3D.

Well, I began with some single-user Java Script studies – the 3D Rollercoaster.

Beginning of this year I switched to start with the virtual model railroad – already multi-player but currently only supporting a carousel – currently no trains, tracks.

However, if you’re interested in building multi-player virtual model railroads – have a look at the Java Script X3D prototypes and give me a feed back, if you would use such concept –> see Download Area and Simulated Model Railroad Concept Page.

http://kheb.homelinux.org/debian

sudo aptitude upgrade

sudo aptitude install freewrl
