O grupo de música eletro/house Justice nasceu em 2oo7 – bem recente mesmo – e é uma dupla formada por Gaspard Augé e Xavier de Rosnay que só lançou um álbum de estúdio até agora, porém, tem também já um dvd histórico e lendário da maior turnê feita deles que acompanha um cd ao vivo com a trilha sonora. O seu debut se intitula Cross, que é ’’Cruz’’ em português, pois a única coisa que existe escrita na capa do cd é uma cruz: † – além da infinidade de singles e EPs eles produziram antes da arte final, principalmente em auxilio com outras bandas como Simian, que juntos produziram o inimitável hit Never be Alone, remix de We Are Your Friends da banda Simian. A dupla francesa tem tanto pouco tempo em cena e já é cultuada como ícone mundial de raves, pois seu som minimalista e popular é bastante apreciado pelo público e pela policia – frequentes são as prisões do duo após os shows devidos as orgias e alcoolismo.

Lembro que alguns anos atrás, várias publicações de música colocaram o Justice no auge do hype. E por algum motivo, tudo que eu lia à respeito deles não me despertava interesse suficiente para conhecer o som. Um grande vacilo.

Antes tarde do que nunca, conheci “†” (também chamado de “Cross”), o primeiro álbum do Justice, e desde então não parei de escutá-lo. Electro empolgante com elementos de rock e de minimal que se encaixa perfeitamente nas pistas.

O Justice é na verdade um duo formado pelos franceses Gaspard Augé e Xavier de Rosnay. O reconhecimento deles veio em 2007 através do hit “D.A.N.C.E.”, que foi lançada em EP antes do álbum. A faixa é realmente muito boa, mas as melhores são, coincidentemente, a primeira e a última.

“Genesis” abre o disco arrebentando tudo. Sintetizadores distorcidos, baixo grooveado, e um ar meio sombrio. E “One Minute To Midnight”, um pouco mais calma, fecha em grande estilo. Outras faixas como “Phantom”, “Valentine” e “Waters Of Nazareth” tornam o álbum completo. Bom do começo ao fim.

Desde o lançamento de “†”, o Justice vem concorrendo e ganhando diversos prêmios e se apresentando pelo mundo todo. Apesar desse ser o único álbum (além de um ao vivo), eles já lançaram quase uma dúzia de EP’s. E fizeram remixes para uma série de artistas como Daft Punk, Mystery Jets, Franz Ferdinand, Klaxons, MGMT, e até para o ótimo Mr. Oizo, compatriota que faz um som similar ao deles.

Devo dizer que em relação ao electro, os franceses parecem estar um passo à frente do resto do mundo.

…Electronic music is definitely an acquired taste.  If this is your steez, then you know Justice is one of the best out.  Known for blending strong rock and indie influence into their craft and style, the French duo Justice is known by their music’s heavy metal influence combined with chopped-up base lines with a compressed and distorted synth sound.  Genesis is dope.  Sound familiar?…

French electronic music duo Justice are known for  incorporating a strong rock influence into their music and image. consisting of Gaspard Augé (born 21 May 1979 in Besançon) and Xavier de Rosnay (born 2 July 1982) they rework MGMT’s “Electric Feel” to give a more um… electric feel.

Habitantes del universo! Hijole, no sé ni que decirles… Estamos en un momento en el que verano está a la vuelta de la esquina, estamos condenados a los examenes finales! Así es pero bueno puedo esperar para realmente hacer algo más que la escuela!, en fin ya con solo 2 semanas de trabajo duro e intentaremos estar al corriente con UA!
Bueno en esta ocación tengo una pequeña demostración de serigrafía en movimiento, ¿¡QUE QUEEEE!?, así como lo leen sus ojitos!, y por otro lado unos posters que cantan de maravilla.


Se trata nada más y nada menos que de Justice con la canción D.A.N.C.E, un duo frances que Gaspard Augé y Xavier de Rosnay han creado, ya tenian un rato juntos pero desde el 2007 tienen un exito increible, comparados con Daft Punk y su peculiar estilo. Y por otro lado está TOBYMAC con la canción Boonmin’ , un cantante realmente exitoso en la música, pues con convinaciones de rock/funk/hip-hop, han cambiando al mundo. Ha hecho parte del Soudtrack de Narnia y otras peliculas.

Puse los videos por la tipografía y como es que cada día se da más la tendencia a que los videos sean así, incluso podrán notar que varios anuncios de T.V ya son meramente tipograficos. Bravo!!

Xavier and Gaspard aka Justice

Back in 2003, two Frenchmen named Gaspard Auge and Xavier de Rosnay exploded onto the electronica scene with a remix of a song called “Never Be Alone.” The duo, who are now known around the world as Justice, have since released an award-winning album, simply titled as a symbol of a cross – “†” – alternately called “Cross.” However, Justice’s discography goes much deeper if one is willing to dig. Over the years the band has remixed a slew of songs – including some of their own material – had many of their songs remixed by other artists and released a live album/documentary about their U.S. tour. For many fans, Justice’s one studio album is not nearly enough to satiate their appetite. Here are a few songs that should not be missing from any Justice catalog.

1. Soulwax – “NY Excuse (Justice Remix)” Soulwax are another well respected techno duo, and Justice completely revitalizes this song with their interpretation. This is one of Justice’s strongest, most painfully in-your-face songs, and for that reason it is at the top of the list. The vocals are mostly samples taken from the original song of a couple arguing loudly. This sounds like it would make for a horrible song, but the message is poignant if one pays attention, and the beat is relentlessly awesome.

2. MGMT – “Electric Feel (Justice Remix)” This remix is a pretty popular one, so you may have already heard it, which just speaks to its quality. MGMT were one of this past year’s biggest bands, as no one could resist the electro-rock masterwork of those curly-haired dudes. The strengths of MGMT’s version are amplified and “Justice-ified” to create a unique musical experience. The instrumental work is classic Justice and the vocals are classic MGMT; a perfect combination.

3. Justice – “D.A.N.C.E. (MSTRKRFT Remix)” Justice’s ode to Michael Jackson, which features a youth chorus, is one of the most remarkable tracks on “†”. It gets boring after a few too many listens, though. Luckily, they released an EP full of different versions of the song. One version has Mos Def rapping over it, one is a recording of the rehearsal with the chorus and there are also a couple live versions. The best remix of the song on the EP is done by MSTRKRFT. Sharing a similar musical style with Justice, this electro-duo added a more synth-laden instrumental groundwork and turned up the danceability.

4. Kanye West feat. Lupe Fiasco – “Electric Touch (Steve1der & Mighty Mi Remix)” This song is a gem from a Kanye West remix tape. It is a mash-up of Kanye’s “Touch the Sky” and the Justice remix of “Electric Feel” by MGMT. The song embodies something bigger than Kanye, MGMT or Justice, and stands alone as a great composition. The combination of electronica and hip-hop is always an interesting one, and here it is done to perfection. It is especially fascenating because West is a big fan of Justice, despite his display at the 2006 at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

5. Justice – “Final” This is the last track on their live CD, “A Cross the Universe,” and is essentially just an intensely fast version of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets,” mashed with their song “The Party.” While an incredibly short song, just hearing the crowd erupt when the heavy guitar riff starts blaring makes the track. The CD-DVD combo album also includes the hour-long documentary on their U.S. tour. It is one of the most absurd viewing experiences ever and proves that the true rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle still exists. For any Justice fan, “A Cross the Universe” is essential.

La réalisation m’a rappelé un clip de Dj Flex des années 2000. Ne vous attendez donc pas à des chansons aux textes supra-transcendants, mais plutôt à des mélodies rythmées qui vous feront certainement dodeliner de la tête.

Metronomy 

Un trio elctro-pop londonnien composé de Joseph Mount, Gabriel Stebbing et Oscar Cash qui s’est fait surtout connaître par le bouche-à-oreille pour ses remixes de morceaux d’artistes connus et reconnus ( Franz Ferdinand, Sébastien Tellier, Klaxons, Kate Nash, Gorillaz…).
Ils nous présentent leur dernier single  “A Thing For Me” en attendant la sortie de leur album en mars 2008.

Poney Poney 

Seul au début, puis accompagné de Florent Lyonnet et Samuel Nicolas peu de temps après grâce à une histoire d’iPod volé, Antoine Hilaire est un artiste parisien qui joue dans la même catégorie que Metronomy.
Leur dernier EP “Cross The Fader” produit par Xavier de Rosnay (l’un des membres de Justice) n’est sorti récemment qu’en Angleterre et en exemplaire limité, tout du moins pour le moment. 
Pour les intéressés, ils étaient en live hier soir à la Loco et seront ce soir au Régine à Paris.

Justice is set to release their second album, the Live version of their first, A Cross The Universe tomorrow December 9th.  I have to admit 3 minutes into the album I had goose-bumps.  Its the same Justice sound, just creatively beefed up for the live performance, but there is something about hearing the crowds reaction to the music that makes the album so damn good.

 Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, the two masterminds behind Justice, make up one of the best electro/dance groups around.  Their first album, Cross, was nominated for a Grammy in 2007, and was named Blender’s “25 Best Albums of 2007,” not too bad for a duo that has only been together since 2003.   Its just two French dudes, some equipment and a truck load of speakers providing you with some serious beats for your date with the dance floor.

Bem, dias atrás ocorreu a SubClub Disco aqui em Maceió, e eu fiquei simplesmente abismado com a quantidade de pessoas que (ainda) não sabem da existência da tão famosa alcunha New Rave (termo que caracteriza artistas que introduzem a estética oitentista em sua música, usam roupas coloridas e acessórios outrora ‘estranhos’) e muito menos de artistas que representam esse movimento super atual.

A primeira coisa que me vem a cabeça é quando se fala em New Rave é Justice, o duo francês formado por Gaspard Augé e Xavier de Rosnay. Produziram um dos (senão o melhor!) melhores albuns de música eletrônica de 2007, o ‘Cross’ ou simplesmente ‘†‘. Tem quem acredite que isso é bobagem e tem quem simplesmente acredite que eles são os sucessores do Daft Punk, tá?

Só pra constar essa Edição de ‘Cross †‘ é a do Tour Japonês, com faixas exclusivas e qualidade de 320kbps.

If you don’t know them you should, because they are the hottest group on Ed Banger Records. Also, they are the one of the best groups coming out of France since Daft Punk. They’re the one and only Justice.

You might not know Justice (which is crazy) but you probably recall Kanye West (seems we’re always talking about him) at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2006 complaining about how he should have won. Well winner of the award in that great Kanye moment was none other than Justice (who had the award accepted by the video directors). Justice, consisting of the two frenchmen Gaspard Augé  and Xavier de Rosnay,  were nominated twice in the 2008 Grammys and was named Best French Act in 2007. 

Justice, an incredible electronic music duo, were once hailed as ‘the next Daft Punk‘ and rightfully so. I like Justice a lot (I would never recommend an artist I don’t like) some of my favorite songs are Valentine, TTHHEE PPAARRTTYY, DVNO, D.A.N.C.E. (along with the remix with Wale) and Genesis. Their new live album (released 11/25), A Cross The Universe, let’s you listen to Justice at their best, in concert. 

On a side note I was going to do Uffie but she curses too much but she is still amazing though so check her out too.

En esta foto podemos ver a Gaspard (izquierda) de Justice con una controladora MIDI, que aparentemente usan para tirar loops de vocales, claramente desenchufada. ¿Es posible que en los Dj sets de Justice sólo curre Xavier (derecha)? Con todo esto, Gaspard expuso que no recuerda muy bien la ciudad exacta, pero que ocurrió. Se dio cuenta de lo que pasaba cuando la pantalla de su ordenador paso de azul a negra e intentaba tirar el siguiente loop. Con lo que volvió a enchufar el equipo y todo volvió a la normalidad.

La foto no tiene fecha, pero desde URB creen que puede ser en su último US Tour en el que los franceses utilizaron este mismo set up.

Injustiça

Parece que nada se cria mesmo. O duo francês Justice, responsável pela música D.A.N.C.E., admitiu ter roubado pedaços de músicas de outros artistas e usado nas suas. A revelação foi feita por Xavier de Rosnay em entrevista à MTV.

O negócio é que nada é tão descarado e os pedaços são tão pequenos que nem mesmo os próprios artistas notaram. “Se você escutar a música Genesis, tem samples de Slipknot, Queen e 50 Cent”, revela. E ainda ironiza: “Nós usamos as palmas da música In Da Club e nem o próprio 50 Cent notou!”.

É, mas agora que ele mesmo já confessou o crime, será que vem processo por aí? Parece que ele não se importa. Prova disso, é que a dupla já está em estúdio preparando o álbum sucessor de Cross.

Electro, funk, disco, prog rock. No, non è solo una lista casuale di generi musicali: i cuochi Justice hanno trovato 12 ricette per questi e altri ingredienti, e una volta sentito l’antipasto, non si può fare a meno di assaggiare il resto. E non c’è da preoccuparsi se si continua a consumare un pasto così sostanzioso anche nei giorni seguenti; sfido un po’ chiunque a non bruciare calorie mentre assapora “Cross”.

Infatti “Genesis” apre le danze in maniera plateale e potente, dalle prime battute al riff di chitarra, “D.A.N.C.E.” penso abbia già ossessionato molte persone che leggono una recensione dei Justice -benvenuti nel tunnel!-, con i suoi archi e il basso che si arrampica, gli hook contagiosi e le magliette mutanti [si veda il video], “Newjack” con i suoi suoni disallineati e le sue interferenze sonore è una manna dal cielo per i palati un po’ più preparati.

“Phantom” ha un campione che fa la metà del lavoro e ha dei sintetizzatori in grado di manovrare fisicamente le teste , “Phantom pt II” è una bomba con influenze disco funk detonata ai vostri piedi, dagli archi agli slap ad un sintetizzatore che sembra giungere dalle viscere del creato. “Valentine” e il suo rhodes aiutano a prendere nuovamente il fiato [pur non rimanendo mai fermi]. E con “Tthhee Ppaarrttyy” e “DVNO” si è di nuovo in pista, con un mood più aggressivo rispetto a “D.A.N.C.E.” .

Quando arriva “Stress”, la nervosissima “Stress”, non c’è ragione che tenga. Batteria tesa e serrata, suoni ossessivi e dal moto circolare come le pale di un elicottero, pianoforti pesanti e drammatici, interferenze come se dei roditori mordessero con forza i cavi dell’alimentazione del sound system: impossibile rimanere indifferenti. [Il video à la Warriors è bellissimo e rende pienamente l'idea del pezzo]

“Waters of Nazareth” e soprattutto “One minute to midnight”, entrambe molto belle e diverse l’una dall’altra, riportano l’adrenalina a livelli quasi normali e vanno a chiudere il disco.

“Cross” è un lavoro composto e assemblato in maniera matura e in buona parte innovativa: pervaso da sintetizzatori dal suono crunch e da strumenti marcatamente “analogici” che si affiancano a sonorità e tecniche proprie della musica elettronica, è un giusto mix tra ecletticità e schiettezza; la struttura stessa del disco è altrettanto interessante e di certo non lasciata al caso, è presente un filo conduttore che si snoda tra le tracce più spensierate [per esempio quelle che presentano delle parti cantate] e quelle più cupe e potenti [la maggior parte delle tracce strumentali]. Consigliatissimo!
