So heute ist nun meine neue Grafikkarte angekommen.

Zum Glück war ich auch da, als der Postbote kam und ja morgen soll dann endlich mein passender Wasserkühlaufsatz dann auch kommen, natürlich wird das dann noch nachgetragen. Leider ist es so, wie erwartet, dass die Graka wesentlich besser ist wie mein System. Dem hab ich vorerst mit Overclocking von meiner CPU entgegen gewirkt von 2,6 auf 3,12 GHZ . Irgendwann soll dann ein schnellerer und größerer Arbeitsspeicher rein kommen dann sind die OC-Möglichkeiten noch größer. Leider fehlt mir der PCI-Express 2.0 Slot, leider kann das nicht der P35 Chipsatz *grml*.

Totul fiind o miscare de marketing, XFX are o serie de banner-e pe site-uri partenere, si a creat si un site special dedicat proiectului. Pe acest site gasim o singura referinta catre Radeon HD 5000. In rest, pe langa mesajele care descriu noul univers, exista trei filmulete de prezentare, ce puteau fi ceva mai bine gandite si jucate.

Si cateva alte tab-uri la care inca se lucreaza (de la lansarea noilor GPU-uri si pana in ziua de azi). Dar care probabil vor fi gata pana in 2118 (anul in care cei de la XFX doresc sa isi lanseze produsul).

Bom, como todos sabem, hoje, dia 23 de setembro, é a data oficial de lançamento da nova série HD5800 da ATI e como é de costume, os sites “oficiais” de reviews já tiveram a chance de testar a nova caixinha de diversão placa.
Pois bem, como a ATI havia prometido, a placa realmente entrega desempenho pelo menos 20% superior a GTX 285 da nVidia, na maioria dos casos e performance semelhante em alguns dos jogos testados (maldita hora que fui comprar uma HD4890).
Enfim, seguem alguns benchmarks que catei na cara dura da Tom’s Hardware encontrei na internet.

Começando com Crysis. Finalmente uma single GPU para roda-lo "bem". Mesmo com Anti-Aliasing e resolução de 1920x1080. Detalhe para o "Epic Fail" da GTX 295 na resoluçao 2560x1600

Como vocês podem ver, a HD5870 tem força o suficiente para comer com farinha Crysis mesmo em 1920×1080 com Anti-Aliasing x 8 sendo mais rapida até que a “antiga” HD4870×2. Colocando duas HD5870 para trabalhar em Crossfire não trouxe muitos beneficios, ficando proximos da pontuação de duas GTX 285 em SLI, mas talvez com o amadurecimento dos divers dorgas mano riariaria drivers, a performance em Crossfire melhore. O detalhe do benchmark vai para a GTX 295 que com apenas 896mb de memória por núcleo, não foi capaz de rodar o benchmark com tais configurações. Isso prova que nem sempre a placa “flagship” mais rapida do mercado até então é necessariamente a mais adequada para o seu uso.

HD5870 em Crossfire S2 Far Cry 2.

O resultado do Benchmark do Far Cry 2 com duas HD5870 em Crossfire chega a ser ridiculo supreende. A configuração em Crossfire é 20fps mais rapida que a configuração em SLI de GTX 285 e absurdos 41fps mais rapida que uma GTX 295 sendo alcançada pelo SLI de GTX 285 apenas na resolução de 2560×1600.

Grand Theft Auto obviamente "gargalado" pelo CPU utilizado no teste. Nada menos que um Core i7 965 overclockado para 3.76ghz.

Não sei proque os sites de review ainda insistem em usar Grand Theft Auto IV como benchmark. Está mais do que claro que nenhuma das placas pode entregar todo o seu poder neste teste, mas creio que se a CPU não fosse o fator limitante, a configuração de GTX 285 em SLI seria a mais rapida até 1920×1080 e ficando pouco atras do Crossfire de HD5870 na resolução de 2560×1600. Detalhe para a GTX 285 que se saiu muito bem em 2560×1600 marcando 10fps a mais que a concorrente HD4890. Uma observação para a GTX 295 que novamente não foi capaz de rodar o benchmark a 2560×1600 por falta de memória. Isso prova que nem sempre a placa “flagship” vai suprir as suas necessidades.

HAWX, claramente otimizado para hardware ATI entregando quase o dobro de performance em Crossfire comparado com a configuração em SLI.

Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. eh claramente otimizado para hardware ATI (mas é claro, veio até a versão original/completa junto com a minha HD4890) fazendo com que a performance de uma HD5870 seja semelante ao SLI de GTX 285. Aliás, até a “velha” HD4890 chegam proximas da configuração em SLI de GTX 285 e ficando apenas 6fps atras na resolução de 1920×1080.

Enfim, a nova serie de placas da ATI realmente chegou chutando bundas forte ao mercado e cumpre com boa parte das promessas. Agora, fico no aguardo do contra-golpe da resposta da nVidia para esta série. E espero que essa resposta venha logo, porque as HD5870 estão sendo vendidas a preços altissimos. Você pode encontra-las hoje no Mercado Livre por R$ 1.600 em caráter de pré-venda sendo entregue somento em 20 de outubro. Ou seja. NEM ROLA! Completamente inviavel para um pobre trabalhador proletariado de trabalho braçal e escravo comum.
Bom, cabe a mim esperar. Enquanto isso, vou me contentando em ver fotos e  videos de unboxing.

HD5870 da Gigabyte. A segunda placa mais bonita dessa série perdendo apenas pro modelo da XFX. Na minha opinião é claro.

HD5870 da HIS. Bonita, mas a "espadinha" é completamente dispensavel.

XFX HD5870 por outro angulo (primeira foto no post do dia 21/09). A mais bonita na minha opinião. Vocês tem que concordar. A combinação de cores e a textura do colante são lindos.

The alienware x58 desktop offers this setup (which is close) for 2,049.00

The alienware does not offer the GTX275 card, so its hard to get a good price range so i chose the 4870×2 option, due to it being the same price on newegg as the gtx275’s.  I also did not put in a cd/dvd drive due to it being like 25$ for one, so i left it out of the price war.  U can buy an Alienware chasis with a 750w psu with the glow for 199$ off their site, so oviously their not selling very many of these systems anymore.

Also alienware uses very very low quality products in their machines, and if its a name brand product they make you pay full retail for it even tho its just an upgrade.  like going from a 500gig hd to the velociraptor SSD which i have in my list above, added an extra 300$ whereas u can seee the VR SSD is only 179.99…

Sure you get a warranty with it, but if you go to your localy Owned PC repair shop, alot of times if you have them order the parts and have them build it, they will warranty it for you.  Of course they will charge you 50-80$ an hour to build your machine, but it shouldnt take more then 1-2 hours for them to do so.  Also Alot of products I’ve listed have lifetime Waraanties, so your covered by all angles.

Also if you notice, all the products above are the highest end of the series you can get. I did this to prove a point to people reading this.  You can save 10-20% off that final price of mine if you just get the same product but a lower model.

Example, the GTX275 i posted costs 329.99  you can get a lower end GTX275 from here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814187073&cm_re=gtx275-_-14-187-073-_-Product  For 219.99 which would cut off 110$ right there.

so in theory right there u can get RAM that is pretty decent, and a decent GPU and a single 1tb drive  instead of what i suggested and a mobo that supports 3 way sli  and save yourself 690$  which bring the price down to $1,502.

ANWAYS  I believe this guide will really help people understand how much money is really invested into gaming machines, and to understand that its a big choice to lay down a few thousand bucks on something that MIGHT NOT work…   I’ve had zero problems so far with my pc so imo it was 2500 well spent, and i used my tax refund for it so its a win win.

I would always suggest to get the mid range of hardware, due to it being the most reliable, and also go talk with your local geek squad, or just go to a forum online and im sure you’ll find help.

I recently purchased a brand new XFX Nvidia GTX 260 Black Edition graphics card and the good folks over at Nvidia included a free code to download Arkham Asylum off from steam. I usually would have waited to buy a game like this for a couple of months until it came down in price, but since it’s free I looked forward to this one coming out.

Batman Arkham Asylum

Today Batman Arkham Asylum came out for the PC. A couple of hours into it I’m impressed with it’s pretty visuals and great animation. The voice acting includes  a lot of the talent from the Batman animated series which makes it sound perfect. Now that’s all well and good, but do you wanna know what I really like about this game? No, it’s not the detective-I can-see-and-know-everything-god-mode.

It’s the fighting. The combat has an incredible weight behind it so that when you punch people you can almost feel their bones break. It’s well paced and has top notch animations with many different ways you can take out your opponent. Add to the great batman style punches, the enjoyment of sneaking around and dropping down silently from gargoyles to kill from behind and you just made my day.

Now all we need is a mod to make every punch flash “Kapow!” or “Wham!” on the screen while re-skinning batman to look like Adam West.

Holy video games Batman! Keep on gaming people!

I surprised myself this evening. I was disgustingly polite!!
While I was at the mosque, there was this kid next to me. He must have been around 14. He was short, round and had eczema around his eyes. I always sit by the back wall because I have a tendency to lose my balance and tip backwards, but this kid was seriously annoying me.
So I’m standing there, and he leans back against the wall. No problem…until he bounces himself forward. And then falls back. And bounces forward. Then falls back again. And forward again. On and on and on; I’m there trying to focus on my prayer and in the corner of my eye there’s this big blue blob bouncing back and forth.

So once I finished that set, I asked him to stop. This is what I had in my mind, what I wanted to say:

Hey panda. Let’s face it, you’re not exactly the skinniest guy here now are you? That’s fine. If you want to lean back against the wall, be my guest. I understand that those legs of yours struggle to hold you up and the the amount of food you just ate is probably making you sleepy. I assure you, you can go back to the kitchen in about an hour or so. But please for the love of god, stop bouncing off the wall. They’re paying professionals to demolish the mosque safely in a couple of months, so don’t knock the walls out while everyone’s still in here!

But here’s what I actually said:

Stop bouncing off the walls please, it’s distracting.

He stopped, for about half an hour and then started again. I tried nudging him a little to get him to stop but to no avail. I just closed by eyes and stuck it out for the last 10 minutes. Grr, I wanted to smack him.

My brother and his wife already have one problematic daughter. She’s nearly 3 years old and stubborn enough to give me a run for my money. She drives everyone up the freaking wall, screams until she gets her way, doesn’t sleep properly – keeping her parents up at night and then doesn’t let them rest during the day; especially on Sundays when my brother isn’t at work.
So what on Earth possessed them to have another one?! The first daughter is getting progressively worse in terms of behaviour, and the second, who is only a few weeks old, gets really bad stomach aches and keeps them awake even more.
People confuse the hell out of me. At least computers have manuals.

Speaking of computers, hopefully I’ll hear back from XFX today – the company that manufactured my 780i motherboard. I’m planning to flash the BIOS to an unofficial one (it’s been modded to add a feature in to it) but the only person that has tested it is the person who created the mod; in comparison to most of the other mods which have been tested by a variety of different people.
So I’m being cautious because I don’t want to brick the BIOS and not have some way of recovering it. So I’ve put in a support ticket asking them to confirm or deny a piece of information that I found on the Internet which stated that the 780i does not have a second BIOS or recovery BIOS; and another which showed what allegedly comes up when you do brick the BIOS – a screen that tries to load AwardFlash from floppy. If it’s true then I’ll go ahead with it, because even if I brick it, I can restore it to default. Otherwise, it’s not worth the risk on my main rig.

“I suspect if more people understood how simple it really is to get computer components to fit together, more would try it. Getting them to work together is a dark and terrible magic.”

My thoughts exactly… sorta. I’m building a new rig this week, and while it’s always good to be careful and even a little nervous when assembling expensive components, that attitude is a little cynical for my taste. Building computers is fun. Doing mods, upgrades, repairs, is fun. I’m absurdly excited about my rig, truth be told.
