See, you meet a girl when you were eighteen. She is all very pretty and perky. But thirty years later, when you meet the same girl, now an old woman, she has become the queen of gone horribly wrong aging. What will be actually going on in your mind at that point &#8230; “Ah, all those rumors of her about hard drinking and snorting the white powder were true after all!”</p>

<p>The same is with jaguar. Jaguar used to be the epitome of British beauties. The everlasting prettiness of a Jaguar E-type sitting on your front porch for an example. But then she decided to go communist, gained some extra pounds and developed affection for quick money from retired dentists in Florida. Instead of becoming a cougar she became an ugly dying camel.</p>

<p>Now, Ian Callum and his professed love towards Jaguar, is trying to save her family reputation. I cannot discount Callum as just another car designer. He is a visionary, a genius, an artist. But somehow, all his hard work does not feel right. In my dream world if Callum had designed the new S class, it would have been a huge success. In the real world though, he is designing the new luxury barge from Jaguar called the XJ. It is all good looking and futuristic and a break away from the bad aging. Even then, it doesn’t help Jaguar a little bit.</p>

<p>The old pictures of an ugly Jaguar are still very vivid in people’s minds. So are the scary stories of doors coming off and engine refusing to budge to your desperate attempt at turning the keys. It all feels like, a brilliant plastic surgeon trying to hide away all those crow feet and wrinkles under a thin layer of aluminum shell. Nobody and their accounts manager will be willing to put that kind of cash into an expensive car like the XJ, especially if you look at the fact that it is from a company with the worst financial history.</p>

<p>The other brilliant car from jaguar, the XFR is also in no good shape to rescue the company. First of all I will break the news about what is utmost wrong about the XFR. The car has electrical issues. There, I have said it. If you are paying truck load of cash for a car like this, you expect things to be all working perfectly well. That is not with the XFR. It is not that fumes come out of the dash board, but there is a little bit of histrionics on the Jags part. I don’t see it as normal behavior, even in a discounted people carrier. It is annoying, and very well disappointing. All those theatrical effects of the flipping air con vents and the throbbing red starter switch all feels like they are all conspiring as to when to have a mass strike on the factory floor. It disheartened my spirit a lot. Though the dealers were very kind and apologetic, and told me they have fixed the issue, it still nags my mind. Why, did Jaguar engineers spoil the plastic surgery and face lifting party with a loose connection. It just is impossible to explain. A good company like the Mercedes lost its entire market share because of shoddy electricals installed to save cost. So why would Jaguar too repeat the same mistake? Was there an old saying too, which goes on like this “Learn from others mistakes”?</p>

<p>Then there is the XFR performance. Again I have to say this is a brilliant looking car. But it should have come out ten years before. Now, the BMW M5 has made all other performance sedans look like redundant experiments.There is no point in buying an XFR. It is cheaper than an M5, but again it is slower than an M5. The handling is brilliant, but not as brilliant as a BMW. The interiors of the Jag are well appointed and make you feel like you are in your childhood dream, but the BMW is a geek heaven. The suspension is never harsh on you on the XFR, so is the BMW- at least to an extent. I don’t see any compelling reason not to buy a M5 instead of an XFR. Yes the M5 is slightly odd looking, but so is the cheap looking grill on that XFR. Where did that mesh grill come from, the eighties? And, you know what, the Jag is not an indication of sophistication either. The communist period at the Jag, destroyed its reputation as a symbol of British tight upper lip. Now, driving a Jag only means, you have weird fetish towards all things dental. Jaguar has no place in this modern world dominated by the German behemoths and the Japanese slush wagons called the Lax-us.  The Jaguar has a secret weapon though. And nobody cares about it.</p>

<p>Even the company is late in recognizing its potential.  If you take a closer look at the XFR, you will be amazed by the difference. Though performance wise the Brit cat is a bit behind the curve as compared to an M5, it is the best car to own and use it on a daily basis as a high performance sedan. Do you know why? It is because; it is by far the most fuel efficient high performance sedan ever. It falls into a lower tax bracket, due to its lower emissions. On the road, at stop and go traffic, it feels much more comfortable than the M5 too.  Also, the nosy pretentious Prius driving neighbor of yours will never get to know, you are driving an R version of the Jag. This is because there are minimal visual cues separating it from its slower siblings. The car has minimal branding of the R badge unlike the M5. If you are like me, a big fan of the badge delete program, then you will love the Jag. Take off that R lettering, and only an auto geek can spot you as a R driving enthusiast. For all other Jack, Dick and Sally it is just the run off the mill XF.</p>

<p>But, nobody, I mean nobody in this world, wants not to be ostentatious. If you have a Bentley, you will take it to the busiest street in the world. This means, you will have to suffer the bumps on that 20 inch low profile rollers, you will scrub the front bumper against the kerb, the ten year old hawker who doesn’t know what a Bentley is: draws a nice picture of your wife’s bottom on the silver chrome body work using the one rupee coin that you threw at him, you will stop the entire traffic of the city because you have to scold your brilliant and patient driver who is putting up with your stupidity of driving a huge arse Bentley on a crowded single lane.</p>

<p>The sad reality is, no matter how much prettier the XFR is than the M5, how much better it feels to drive on a busy street than the M5, it will never be a legend as the M5. It will be remembered in a few corners of the world as a car that also ran for the laurels of the best high performance sedan. People will remember only vaguely, like the Lancia Stratos. This Brit cat does have a few good points in its favor, but it is way too little to be rescued by them. The Jaguar also knows very well of this sad situation. The present economy is also not helping things very much for the British legend. The car is an understated performance monster. But the time that we live in, we need everything loud and bling. The recession has not taught anybody any lesson. The only lesson that the recession has taught if at all is, even if you are poor and your business is nose diving into the cesspool of brown, smelly things, your wife and your children are unwilling to compromise on the lifestyles that they are used to. They will leave you, if you give a bit of a hint about going bankrupt, allowing you to look at an even more expensive lawyer bill.  And Sadly the Jag is never part of that lifestyle.</p>

<p>Verdict: If the XFR was a new Mercedes, people would have been ready to forgive the stupidity of Daimler. It is that good.</p>

Num evento decorrido no concessionário oficial no Porto, foi lembrado o historial da marca para de seguida ser Vasco Figueira, director de vendas Jaguar Portugal a apresentar as virtudes do novo XJ. Palavras de circunstância proferidas por Jesus Alonso lembraram que “a paixão pela marca está bem patente neste novo modelo o que nos proporciona ânimo para continuar a trabalhar na mesma direcção, tentando transformar a Jaguar numa marca vanguardista, actual e desportiva com que Sir William Lyons sempre sonhou.” Além disso, a marca tenta também sobreviver a alguma turbulência causada pelos massivos prejuízos que, juntamente com os da Land Rover, quase colocaram em causa os lucros do gigante indiano. O novo XJ está disponível em Portugal com três motores: o V8 Supercharged 5.0 litros (510 CV), o V8 atmosférico também com 5 litros (385 CV) e um bloco turbodiesel V6 3 litros com 275 CV. Quanto a preços, a gama XJ começa nos 98.093 euros da versão diesel.</p>

Se trata de un bello sedán de lujo de cinco plazas con  línea de coupé que rompe con lo fabricado anteriormente. Su interior destaca por las buenas terminaciones, los materiales nobles que lo componen y la tecnología empleada.</em></p>

<p><strong>Jaguar</strong> ha mostrado su nueva obra de arte. Es la primera unidad del <strong>XJ</strong> que llega a España y nosotros hemos podido comprobar, en primera persona, su belleza y elegancia. Su imagen es impactante gracias al potente frontal, los anchos hombros y los grandes pasos de rueda que llegan a albergar llantas de 20 pulgadas.<br />

<p>El grupo de diseñadores dirigidos por Ian Callum decidieron prescindir de los faros dobles y la parrilla pequeña típicos de los modelos anteriores. En su lugar, montaron una calandra de grandes dimensiones, como la del <strong>XF</strong>, y unas ópticas afiladas que, según la marca, le dan un aire felino. Además, éstas están orientadas hacia el exterior, dando al <strong>XJ</strong> una imagen más ancha y poderosa. Parte de ellas están formadas por LEDs, otorgándole así una apariencia moderna y diferenciadora.</p>

<p>La zaga presenta una tapa limpia, con un pequeño alerón moldeado en ella y la insignia en el centro. Ésta se puede subir y bajar con tan sólo pulsar un botón. El maletero es espacioso, aunque no es de los más grandes del segmento, y su piso tiene detalles sobre la moqueta. El paragolpes recibe una banda cromada, que juega con las líneas que lo forman, y dos salidas de escape con forma trapezoidal, una a cada lado.</p>

<p>Pero sin lugar a dudas, lo que más nos ha llamado la atención han sido los pilotos, que desde que se mostraron las primeras imágenes del<strong> XJ,</strong> han suscitado muchas dudas. Su diseño nos ha parecido arriesgado y atrevido, pero por encima de todo, acertado. Tienen forma vertical y debido a sus diodos luminiscentes, parecen “las marcas dejadas por las garras del jaguar”.</p>

<p>De su perfil destaca el pilar C, de color negro y que combina con el techo panorámico, y la línea descendente que da al vehículo forma de coupé y crea una ventanilla con aspecto de lágrima alargada. Además, las pequeñas tomas de aire cromadas situadas en los laterales refuerzan la imagen de lujo que tiene el <strong>Jaguar XJ</strong>.</p>

<p>Cuando accedes al interior del automóvil, te sorprende el lujo y la modernidad que desprende. Sin duda es lo mejor del <strong>XJ</strong> y donde los diseñadores más se han volcado, y eso se nota. Mires donde mires observas piel de gran calidad que forra el salpicadero, los paneles, los asientos y la consola central. Ésta combina a la perfección con la madera de primera calidad y la fibra de carbono que <strong>Jaguar</strong> ha utilizado para las molduras.</p>

<p>La pantalla táctil, los mandos, la zona del Selector JaguarDrive y el freno de mano electrónico presenta una luz azul, que junto con su trabajado diseño, dan un aspecto moderno y elegante al interior. Incorpora un panel de instrumentos virtual tremendamente práctico que muestra diferente información al conductor (<a href="http://periodismodemotor.com/2009/08/12/cuadro-de-instrumentos-con-pantalla-tft-para-el-range-rover/" target="_blank">estrenado por el Range Rover 2010</a>). La joya de la corona la encontramos en el salpicadero. Se trata de un reloj analógico creado a partir de las refinadas máquinas suizas. Es sencillo pero exquisito. Los múltiples LEDs de los que están formadas sus agujas se iluminan por la noche.</p>

<p>Si tenemos que poner un “pero”, es a su espacio interior. Este coche, a pesar de tener 5,12 metros de longitud, no presenta un espacio amplio para las piernas de los ocupantes posteriores. Es suficiente, sí, pero no lo esperado. Lo mismo ocurre con la distancia al techo, que al tener línea de coupé, es pequeña. Esto podría producir una sensación de agobio sino fuese por el techo panorámico, que por cierto, es de serie.</p>

<p>En líneas generales podemos decir que <strong>Jaguar</strong> ha creado un auténtico coche de lujo, con un precioso y trabajado diseño y en el que la tecnología se mezcla con la elegancia y la distinción de manera perfecta. Sin duda un gran trabajo de la firma inglesa que puede llegar a mirar por encima del hombro a rivales de enorme talla como el <strong>Mercedes-Benz Clase S </strong>o el <strong>BMW Serie 7</strong>.</p>

<p align="justify"><font face="Verdana" color="#800080" size="2">On se réveille à 6h45 et on “déroule” le programme du matin (habillage, pt déj, direction <a title="école" href="http://www.epnd.lu/" target="_blank">école</a>, petite promenade dans les couloirs, et entrée en classe un peu avant 8h).</font></p>
<p align="justify"><font face="Verdana" color="#800080" size="2"><a title="Papa" href="http://maylysandre.wordpress.com/mon-papa/" target="_blank">Papa</a> vient me chercher à l’issue de mon cours de <a title="luxembourgeois" href="http://www.lexilogos.com/luxembourgeois_langue_dictionnaires.htm" target="_blank">luxembourgeois</a>, vers 17h. Il a tout chargé dans la voiture pour nous rendre en week end sur la côte belge. Nous nous arrêtons à une station service pour faire le plein, et c’est là que “l’histoire” commence :</font></p>
<p align="justify"><font face="Verdana" color="#800080" size="2"><a title="Papa" href="http://maylysandre.wordpress.com/mon-papa/" target="_blank">Papa</a> aime les voitures, il a 2 Jaguar (une XJ8L et une XKR) et ce qu’il appelle son “utilitaire”, un <a title="BMW X5" href="http://images.google.com/images?oe=UTF-8&#38;sourceid=navclient&#38;gfns=1&#38;q=BMW%20X5&#38;um=1&#38;ie=UTF-8&#38;sa=N&#38;hl=fr&#38;tab=wi" target="_blank">BMW X5</a>… diesel, comme tout bon utilitaire. Oui mais voilà, il a un peu oublié qu’il faut mettre du gasoil dans le réservoir… et pas 80 litres d’essence sans plomb 95 ! Par chance, il s’en est aperçu avant de démarrer. Nous attendrons donc le dépanneur une petite heure. Il monte la voiture sur son “plateau”, et nous dans le camion. Je trouve ça très drôle, c’est une nouvelle expérience pour moi. Nous attendons encore presque 2h, le temps de vidanger le réservoir et de remettre du gasoil… et ça c’est beaucoup moins amusant.</font></p>
<p align="justify"><font face="Verdana" color="#800080" size="2">Bref, il est 20h30, quand nous reprenons la route avec 3h de retard. La route est difficile : des trombes d’eau, des accidents en série. <a title="Papa" href="http://maylysandre.wordpress.com/mon-papa/" target="_blank">Papa</a> s’arrête même pour porter secours à un automobiliste dont la voiture vient de faire un tonneau juste devant nous. Nous arrivons à notre hôtel à minuit… moi j’ai dormi une bonne partie du trajet.</font></p>

<p> Os indianos da Tata não estavam de brincadeira quando decidiram comprar a Jaguar. Eles estão obsecados em fazer a marca ter vendas em grande escala e fazê-la voltar a ter projeção mundial. Ontem, mostramos aqui os planos da Jaguar lançar um <a title="Jaguar Esportivo" href="http://blogcarro.wordpress.com/2009/09/30/jaguar-prepara-hatch-de-aluminio-com-novo-motor-v6/">hatch esportivo</a> de quatro portas.</p>
<p>Agora, surge a primeira imagem do recém lançado sedã <a title="Jaguar XJ" href="http://blogcarro.wordpress.com/2009/08/15/o-dia-do-carro-de-luxo/">XJ </a>(aposta principal da marca) na versão station wagon, ou para nós popularmente conhecida como perua. A projeção foi feita pelo site <a title="Autocar" href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/243691/">Autocar</a>.</p>
<p>A perua deve ser lançada junto com a primeira reestilização do sedã de luxo XJ. Com ela,  deve ser apresentado um novo motor a diesel de 2.2l biturbo capaz de gerar pelo menos 200 cv de potência. Fora isso, todos os mimos da versão sedã do XJ estarão presentes. Aos poucos, os indianos estão construindo uma nova marca com um nome tradicional.</p>

For decades now, the Jag has been a symbol of affluence, performance, and high standards. As a result, it should come as no surprise that the new <a href="http://www.jaguar.com/us/en/#/new_xj/" target="_blank">Jaguar XJ</a> is going to roll out of the factory with HD radio installed in its dashboard. This is hardly a new thing for Jaguar as their XKR sports car and XFR sports sedan already feature the technology.</p>
<p>It joins the esteemed ranks of other auto lines &#8212; mostly luxury &#8211; that have adopted the HD standard including BMW, Hyundai, Mercedes and Volvo as well as brands aimed at the high performance/tech savvy youth demographic like the BMW Mini and Toyota&#8217;s Scion.</p>
<p><a href="http://content.usatoday.com/communities/driveon/post/2009/09/68499715/1" target="_blank">DriveOn</a> brings us a statement from Jaguar itself on the subject:</p>
<blockquote><p>“Jaguar’s enthusiasm and continued support for HD Radio broadcasts emphasizes the great value proposition associated with the technology,&#8221; said Paul Faletti, Jag&#8217;s vice president of marketing in the U.S.</p></blockquote>
<p>The steady encroachment of HD into the auto world is one that should not be surprising. Satellite Radio has been in that arena for some time, but unlike HD, Satellite requires a subscription fee in order to listen. HD, with its preponderance of multicast channels, can offer a wide and growing range of content without the monthly hit to your bank account.</p>
<p>Looks like drive time is going to be posh and entertaining for future Jag owners! Hear that Jaguar roar!</p>

Os modelos, fabricados em 2003 e 2004, podem apresentar problemas nos tubos de freio inferiores traseiros. Em comunicado, a marca afirma que seis veículos estão envolvidos no recall.</p>
<p><!--more-->O XJ pode apresentar um problema de atrito entre os tubos traseiros e um dos absorvedores de vibrações, que ficam na bandeja protetora do assoalho. Assim, a resistência à corrosão dos tubos pode diminuir, causando vazamento de fluido de freio em casos extremos, podendo haver perda total de eficiÇencia dos freios. Um dos indícios é um aumento no curso do pedal.</p>
<p>Na verificação, os tubos de freio serão examinados quanto à integridade, sendo substituídos caso sejam encontrados vestígios de corrosão. O absorvedor de vibrações também será retirado, o que não comprometerá o conforto do veículo, de acordo com a Jaguar.</p>

<p>Part of the UK government-funded project &#8216;Limo-Green&#8217;. The goal of the project was to develop and build a series hybrid luxury sedan. The<span id="ppt19091588"> 2010 Jaguar XJ limo-green</span> uses an electric motor for propulsion, in this case a 145 kW, 295 lb-ft unit. A lithium battery pack moves the car for 30 miles on a charge and then the Lotus-developed 1.2-liter range extender takes over for the remainder of the 600-mile range.</p>

<p>The MP4-12C is built around an extremely light and rigid carbon fiber tub. The body panels are all carbon fiber and composites, making the new McLaren more expensive to build than its competitors and resulting in an expected £160,000 ($265k) price tag – higher than either the new Ferrari 458 Italia or the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, but lighter in weight, too.</p>

That ought to be good for a 0-60 time in the low threes and a 200+ mph top end.</p>

<p>Conceived and created as a way to celebrate the MX-5 Miata&#8217;s 20th anniversary, the Superlight&#8217;s new profile and 2,194-pound curb weight is the brainchild of the automaker&#8217;s European R&#38;D center in Oberursel, Germany.</p>

<p>Saab&#8217;s first production hybrid powertrain will match diesel fuel economy numbers while providing lower emissions and competitive performance. It seems Saab will pair an electric motor with excellent torque characteristics right from idle with a highly-tuned 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 120 horsepower. That gasoline-fed powerplant should be able to manage good power at higher engine speeds, making for adequate overall acceleration across the rev range. If there&#8217;s any truth to this rumor, Saab is planning to use a relatively small battery pack that&#8217;s not expected to power the car for long periods of time.</p>

<p>The 2011 Infiniti QX56 went on display in the Middle East and some stealthy soul caught a couple of close-up pics from the front and rear three-quarter. It&#8217;s a much smoother vehicle than the old one, ditching the arcs for hard angles. It also sheds finicky styling cues like the current vehicle&#8217;s slightly contorted C-pillar arrangement, going for an uninterrupted window line rimmed by a chrome strip. Head on, though, it&#8217;s grille-tastic.</p>

<h3><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span id="ppt19152408">2011 Rolls-Royce Ghost</span></span></h3>
<p>Rolls-Royce has officially dropped dozens of images and plenty of details on its new &#8220;baby&#8221; saloon, the Ghost. The new Roller won&#8217;t be seen publicly for another week, when it&#8217;ll formally bow in Frankfurt, but we now know that its 6.6-liter V12 generates an impressive 575 lb-ft of torque at 1,500 rpm, along with 563 horsepower in U.S. trim. The 212.6-inch body stretches over a 129.7 inch long wheelbase, and the whole car weighs in at 5,445 pounds unloaded.</p>

<p>There are no surprises in the styling, which is unchanged from the 200EX concept displayed in Geneva last March. naturally, the Ghost retains the Phantom-style coach doors (don&#8217;t call them suicide in the presence of a Rolls rep) with built-in umbrellas. Inside, the Ghost carries over additional Phantom quirks, such as the &#8220;Power Reserve&#8221; gauge the driver gets in lieu of a traditional tachometer. Aside from that, this is clearly more of a driver&#8217;s car than the Phantom, whose opulent backseat accommodations show that it&#8217;s more about being driven in. The Ghost&#8217;s steering wheel is much smaller in diameter and has a thicker rim than its big brother, and the seats appear to have more contouring for lateral support, as well. Pricing hasn&#8217;t been announced yet, but plan on bringing a Halliburton attache case full of cash if you plan on buying one, just to be on the safe side. It&#8217;ll automatically burn the CD&#8217;s tracks onto the car&#8217;s hard drive so you won&#8217;t end up with a car full of jewel cases. Avoid putting in opera CD&#8217;s, lest you want your car to die.</li>
<li>What&#8217;s that? Your old car&#8217;s sound quality was worse quality than Asda&#8217;s fruit and veg aisle? Don&#8217;t worry! The XJ boasts <em>20</em> B&#38;W speakers laid out all around the car. That&#8217;s surround sound you can&#8217;t buy (metaphorically). Did I mention that the system powering the surround sound is an 1200W 7.1 system? No? Well, it is.</li>
<li>Is your daughter playing some Taylor Swift over and over again? *Cough*Joy*Cough* Grab a pair of the wireless headphones and stick on your own tunes. But I don&#8217;t see why you&#8217;d wanna do that when Taylor is <em>the best </em>artist in the world.</li>

<p><em>210&#8242;000 km on the clock and it still outperforms several other vehicles. Picture taken on Christmas Day 2004 in the Langeberg Mountains Western Cape. 650 meter climb over of 5 km. What I like most of it is it&#8217;s superb performance both off-road and on the freeway.</em></p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I have started this blog to have fun.   Jeeping is a big part of my life and I am on several jeep forums as Jeepin_for_life.  I am a proud owner of an 03 Jeep Wrangler that I have slowly modified and I will continue to modify.  I have owned an 88 Jeep Cherokee and my dad owns a 79 CJ-7 Renegade Levi Edition.   The 88 XJ went to Jeep heaven and the 79 is in original coniditon and is being slowly restored.</p>
<p>My 03 TJ is my pride and joy.  I have a 2in lift, full custom exhaust,  custom stereo, and some more little things that I will mention in future posts.  I will keep this blog up to date with all of my modifications and projects that I make on my Jeep as well as any trips that I make in the Jeep.</p>
<p>If you own a Jeep I want to hear from you! I love talking with fellow Jeep owners!</p>
