Windows XP Pro SP3

Windows XP Pro SP3 Build 2 is immediately available for download. This Windows edition includes a luxuriant variety of bonuses starting with a Windows Vista theme, Microsoft
Office 2003 Full…SlipStreamed 75 MB, Adobe Reader 7, MSN Messenger, Firefox and Winrar. The downloadable file is a 695 MB designed to be burned on a single CD.

Obviously, this is not an official Microsoft release. First off, according to the Windows Service Pack Road Map, delivered by Microsoft, on a Microsoft website: “SP3 for Windows XP Home Edition is currently planned for 1H CY2008. This date is preliminary.” 1H CY2008 means the first half of 2008.
Windows XP Pro SP3 Build 2 is instead a pirate version of, probably XP SP2.

Microsoft plan to release service pack 3 for Microsoft WIndows XP at 29 April 2008, buat for some reasons, they had delay the release. But, i already download the file.

This service pack support “ Windows XP; Windows XP Home Edition ; Windows XP Home Edition N; Windows XP Media Center Edition; Windows XP Professional Edition ; Windows XP Professional N; Windows XP Service Pack 1; Windows XP Service Pack 2; Windows XP Starter Edition; Windows XP Tablet PC Edition”.

Xp Service Pack 3 incorpora Internet Explorer 6 per cui chi ha il 7 già installato (o la 8 Beta) deve seguire la procedura indicata al link seguente (inglese) se vuole mantenere inalterata la funzionalità di disinstallazione di Ie7: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/05/05/ie-and-xpsp3.aspx

In sostanza: chi ha il 7 non perde nulla, rimane funzionante con le sue preferenze MA non sarà possibile disinstallarlo successivamente all’installazione del Service Pack.
In pratica ci sono due possibilità: Disinstallare IE7, Installare Xp-Sp3, reinstallare Ie7 (in questo modo Ie7 sarà successivamente disinstallabile) oppure installare Xp-Sp3 e nel caso occorra in futuro disinstallare Ie7 occorre prima disinstallare Xp-Sp3. Io credo che farò finta di nulla ed installerò il Sp3 poichè dubito di dover disinstallare Ie7 nel prossimo futuro…

E’ entrato nella fase RTM (released to manufacturing ) il terzo ed ultimo service pack per Windows XP. Il sistema operativo che Vista non è riuscito a soppiantare nel cuore (e nei pc) degli utenti Ms sta per andare in pensione (tolto dalla commercializzazione) ma, il prossimo 5 Maggio dovrebbe essere rilasciato il Sp3 localizzato in italiano. (il 29 Aprile è atteso nelle prime 7 lingue).
L’aggiornamento vale per Xp Sp1 e Sp2 e si potrà scaricare attarverso l’Update automatico o download stand-alone da 580Mb. 
Io aspetterò comunque qualche settimana prima d’installarlo su macchine produttive. Non si sa mai, aspetto cavie )

on 21st March, Microsoft has released the white paper on the SP3, which may be the last Service Pack for Windows XP. The schedule release will be in the mid of Apr’08. Check and download the document that gives complete information on the SP3 from:

XP service pack 3 is available as of December 10 at Microsoft’s support site. It is the first service pack in a couple of years and incorporates all the monthly updates by pushing them out into one package. If you have automatic updates enabled, then there’s no big rush for you to download this. If you don’t go through the weary ritual of installing the monthly updates, then you will want to download this update ASAP. SP3 brings together all the latest bug fixes and a couple of new features. Unfortunately, it does not update IE 7. I get so tired of that message “Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close” that it would have made my day if Microsoft could have provide some bug fixes for Internet Explorer.

The new features relate to:

• black hole router detection – in which analysis is made on the network stack to determine if routers are silently discarding packets; and,
• added support for Network Access Protection, which appears to be an administrative fix for system admin’s

In Microsoft’s overview, they state that this release “does not significantly change customers’ experience with the operating system”. I really like XP but again, it’s too bad they couldn’t have done something about IE 7.
