Am 30. und 31.10.2009 war der “Expedition Zukunft”  SCIENC=XPRESS in Warnemünde. Die Fotos in meinem Blog zeigen Ihnen ein paar Schnappschüsse aus dem Zug. Für mich war das Gesamtkonzept des Zuges interessant, es spannt einen Bogen vom von der Entwicklung des Wissens der Menschheit, dem Bevölkerungswachstum, den Anforderungen und Fortschritten in der Medizintechnik, der Entwicklung des Internets, der Chemie und und ….

Auf der Suche nach meinem Platz in der Zukunft habe ich mir gemeinsam mit meinem Sohn die Ausstellung angesehen. Witerhin war ich gespannt, ob etwas über den Beitrag von Kultur und Kunst in der Zukunft gesagt wird, mit welchem Design und Darstellungsmöglichkeiten gearbeitet wurde.
Klar viele Dinge kannte ich, aus den LABs, der Zusammenarbeit mit dem Fraunhofer Institut, dem Netz, dem TV …. Aber der Zusammenhang zwischen den Themengebieten macht die Ausstellung interessant, neben den einzelnen Exponaten. Nur leider zum Thema Kunst und Kultur wenig zu finden, es war mehr ein Rückblick als ein Blick in die Zukunft. Aber es war auch nicht verwunderlich, denn die Kosten werden durch große Unternehmen, Forschungseinrichtungen getragen. So bleibt die Frage, wer hätte das Thema Kunst und Kultur sponsern können , denn es wurden sogar die Nobelpreisträger im Bereich der Kunst und Kultur ausgeblendet.

Nokia sta per lanciare sul mercato un nuovo telefono della serie Xpress Music, si chiamerà X6 (come la Bmw sì).

Per l’occasione, verranno realizzati una serie di eventi a scopo promozionale tra cui una serata ai Magazzini Generali di Milano il giorno 25 novembre.

I riferimenti a questo evento si trovano su una pagina web che non può essere aperta con nessun altro sistema operativo che non sia Windows e con nessun altro browser che non sia Explorer.

Praticamente 4 utenti su 10 non possono avere accesso a questa informazione.

E giusto per non infierire non ci mettiamo a controllare le quote di mercato di sistemi operativi e browser nel target di clientela di un telefono come l’X6.

Yeni işletim sistemi ve dokunmatik arayüz

Nokia 5800, 77xx modellerini saymazsak Symbian işletim sistemi üzerinde dokunmatik kontrol sunan ilk model. Symbian üzerinde Nokia’ya has bir arayüz olan S60 arayüzü bu modelle 5. versiyonuna ulaşıyor. Biliyorsunuz N serisinde en son kullanılan S60 3.2 idi.
S60 5. versiyon parmakla kontrol edilebilecek şekilde güncellenen bir arayüz. Altyapısı ve çalışma prensibi önceki S60 modellerine oldukça benziyor. Bu da daha önce S60 cihazı kullanmış olanlar için avantaj olarak görülebilir. Çünkü aradığınız her fonksiyonu elinizle koymuş gibi bulabilirsiniz.

 

While I try to keep my blog devoted to the amber waves of hair, I wanted to reflect on one of the other major aspects of my life — journalism.

Several weeks ago I was informed that 60-75 high school students would invade one of my journalism classes in order to learn more about the rocky craft of newsmaking. At first I was surprised that people even younger than I would head down the teetering world of journalism, but later I found the field-trip ironic since SF State will soon be closing its doors to any freshman due to budget cuts.

After laughing off the initial irony of inspiring high schoolers to pursue journalism at a school that wouldn’t even accept them, no matter how talented, I would actually have to do something. As Editor-in-Chief of the SF State school paper there was that additional pressure of passing on infectious motivation and inspirational tidbits of wisdom.

Early Tuesday morning I had the pleasure to meet about 10 of the writer/editor/photographers of the Green & Gold paper and was pleasantly impressed with the questions that they had for me. Many of the reporters were asking how to deal with page constraints, story selection and production cycles. In most situations I would be the authority on little more than, well, my redhead expertise (you knew I had to plug it in somewhere, didn’t you?) but here I was able to spout off whatever golden nuggets of brilliance I could muster together to, at least, appear to know what the hell was going on. But frankly all I could think was, “We are in the newsroom and if the [X]press writers and editors could please refrain from cursing too loud or making sexual jokes in front of these teens and their chaperons.”

Thankfully the visitors didn’t hear anything too offensive, that I noticed.

After recuperating from all the ego boosting I got from being so self-important that I would guide nubile minds, I was met with six times as many teens in my opinion writing class.

Our task of the day was to do a “Man on the Street” type of exercise where one class member would bring 1-4 high schoolers out to the campus grounds to get quotes, photos, and/or sound slides about what is on the mind of SF State students.

In all of the elitism and glory of hierarchy (oh, and because there weren’t enough students) I was sadly left without a chosen group to lead bravely into the windy campus grounds. So what’s the next best choice — be an editorial runner between groups. Giving time updates, taking pictures, lending out my camera and generally making sure people knew what the task was. It was surprisingly similar to being EIC.

Some groups seemed to take the reigns more than others and came up with inspired lines of questioning like the differences in San Francisco districts and monetary impacts to college students in an economic crisis. It reminded me of the interviewing basics of allowing the people to guide you to the story rather than the other way around.

Some of these kids showed some serious promise and I hope that some of them will bring that experience into a college publication and hopefully, eventually into the mainstream media.

This day of divination from the newsy norm was a welcome change that made me stop to think about people outside of our campus consume media.

As the opinion editor for my campus newspaper, the [X]press, I was curious what would be in store for me when the editorial page editor of the San Francisco Chronicle, John Diaz, paid a visit to my opinion writing class.

Although I was a little disappointed that he didn’t dissect the [X]press’s opinion page (hot off the press that Thursday morning!) or even his own publication’s editorial page, I knew he was there to dish out general words of advice on writing and getting published.

A few tips that writers aren’t told often enough?

Don’t hold back.

Journalists are often restrained by the short leash of “objectivity,” but it’s better to expose ourselves and our personalities when writing an opinion piece.

Read your piece out loud.

To help you find your voice, make sure you’re using words that are natural to you. If you find yourself reaching for the thesaurus — or typing in www.thesaurus.com — it will show in your writing.

Don’t be a pain to work with.

You can fight for some phrases or parts of your original piece but be open to editing. You’ll be more likely to get published this way.

One thing I’m still grappling with, however, is the idea of writing in first person. I agreed with Diaz when he showed how personal experiences led to — and ultimately strengthened — some opinion pieces, but too many people equate “first person” with “soapbox.” Granted, I’m using first person in this blog, but I’m careful not to rant. At least not without substantiated facts and reporting.

In all, it was a more hopeful lecture — one that did not begin or end with, “Good luck finding a job when you graduate.”

Yeah Racing Cup 2nd Round

Yeah Racing Cup 2nd round, the 1:10 2WD Mini Touring Race was held on 9th, Aug, 2009 at Track Carena, HONG KONG.  There were 18 entries and divided in 2 race groups (A Main and B Main).  Each Yeah Racing Cup participant has been sponsored with a 23T Yeah Racing Hackmoto motor, one set of Xpress rubber tires for the race and a rcMart T-Shirt.  Fish Son was the champion of the A Main group, while Billy Ho came in 2nd and was only one point behind Fish Son.  Fiat was the champion of the B Main Race and SunLi achieved the 2nd place in the race.  In the end, all drivers were more than happy with the whole race because they had a lot of fun and great racing.

Como ya saben, no nos es posible utilizar los drivers propietarios de ATI (fglrx) en nuestro prehistórico Dell Inspiron 1501 o nuestras vetustas (?) tarjetas de video^[1], ni siquiera con la salida de los últimos drivers con soporte para Ubuntu 9.04. Por suerte, gracias al comentario que dejó Abel O’Ryan, me fue posible compilar los últimos drivers libres de ATI con una mejora nada despreciable de 600 fps (de ~200 a ~800), según leí, a algunos superó los 1000!.

Por cierto, meter manos aquí puede ser peligroso, en el sentido que no sería raro que se pudiera caer todo el servidor gráfico, por lo que si no estás acostumbrado a trabajar con la terminal para reparar el xorg.conf, te recomendaría que tuvieras cuidado. De todas formas es sólo una advertencia y realmente no tendría por qué pasar si lo haces con cuidado. Bueno, dejo de aburrirte y pongamos manos a la obra:

Entonces lo primero será revisar que tengamos los repositorios correctamente configurados para ello:

• Gestor de paquetes Synaptic > Configuración > Repositorios > Tickear “fuente”
• Recargamos los repositorios y cerramos Synaptic

Ahora vamos a instalar los paquetes necesarios para la compilación:

• sudo apt-get install build-essential autoconf libxmu-dev libdrm-dev x11proto-dri2-dev pkg-config libxi-dev git-core pkg-config
• sudo apt-get build-dep mesa (sí, no va “install“)

Descargamos desde el git de radeon-rewrite los últimos drivers:

• git clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/mesa/mesa (este paso puede tardarse bastante, especialmente cuando aparentemente termina el conteo)
• cd mesa
• git branch radeon-rewrite origin/radeon-rewrite
• git checkout radeon-rewrite

Ahora comenzamos con la compilación:

• ./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr --with-dri-drivers=radeon,r200,r300

Aquí viene un punto que es difícil de explicar, porque la variedad de errores es enorme, básicamente se trata de ausencia de algunos paquetes. Luego de que aparezca el error, lo que tienes que hacer es buscar el lib[paquete_ausente]-dev correspondiente en Synaptic. Suena raro, pero te voy a dar un ejemplo para que puedas guiarte:

checking for GLUT... configure: error: Package requirements (x11 xmu xi) were not met:

No package 'xi' found

Entonces vía Synaptic buscas el paquete libxi-dev lo instalas y ejecutas el comando nuevamente, si todo salió bien al final debería salir:

Run 'make' to build Mesa

Y como nosotros somos muy obedientes:

• make
• sudo make install

Puesto que estás en Jaunty y con nuestra añeja tarjeta, sólo bastaría reiniciar el entorno gráfico para comenzar a probar los nuevos drivers. Para asegurarte que esté todo bien configurado lo probamos con lo mismo de siempre:

~$ glxinfo | grep render
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R300 (RS400 5975) 20090101 x86/MMX+/3DNow!+/SSE2 NO-TCL

~$ glxgears

I discovered that the Nokia XPress Music stands for Express Music What a great discovery that i made! XD Then… Yesterday i’ve spent about half an hour finding out my Livejournal password. Why? Because a year ago i had my first blog there. But couldn’t keep it updated for more than a month so here on WordPress i made a record blogging now for 10 months. I have blogger too, but just because of Gmail i made it when i was signing up for a mail and been browsing what Google Account can offer. Because i have nothing to do now, I’ll write small reviews of each blog provider that i was using and also a small view of mine about WordPress.

LiveJournal: I start with this one cause it’s the first one i have ever been using. It’s a nice place to blog and with a lot of layouts you can chose from. It has a pretty easy to use dashboard because basically the only thing on the dashboard that you can use is the mailing and the post and set up the accounts. I can’t even remember how you can change the layout but sure it’s somewhere around where the blog settings are. It’s not any fault of the provider that i have left my blog, it’s because i was either lazy or just there wasn’t anything i could write about. I returned there twice but for 1-2 posts and that was all. For those who want to have a pretty looking online-journal it’s the best way to start with until you get used of how they are used and then you can try more complex ones.

Blogger:  Second one is the blog of the search engine known by everyone Google. It is not necessary to set up a Gmail account for this just a usual registration on Blogger.com is enough to start your own blog or blogs. Yes, Blogger supports multiple blogging (to have more than one blogs with a single account). My only problem with Blogger was that it has a too complex and complicated dashboard for me and very few layout variations to chose from. I like to change once in a while how my ’second home’ looks like. All in all i think it’s a pretty good blogging opportunity provider for those who really feel themselves at home with CSS layout design and like to discover how things work on a site.

WordPress: The last one i would like to write about is WordPress, one of my favorite blogging interfaces around. It has an easy to use dashboard and absolutely everything you would need. There are some nice layouts you can use, with some of them to customize the header of them (:lol: those are the ones that i like). Also here is possible to make more than one blog with a single account. There is also a Pro version for those who would like to invest really in blogging and enjoy the full features of what wordpress can provide for the lovers of blogging. I personally just like it because of easy to use tools, layout, easily understandable stats. Probably the only drawback around is that the sidebar widgets does not support Flash Applications .

Following up the previous report of the Xpress Front Upper Arm Protoype. The Xpress development team has finished the production and released the new aluminum front upper arm set for their MRR2 Mini. This aluminum front upper Arm provides more specifically basic settings on the front suspension system for rc racer who find the existing plastic front upper arm is hard to adjust.

Advance Racer Choice
The existing plastic front upper could able to set a wider camber angle and caster angle when the car is steady. However, the caster angle changes following the car bumping on the road when the car is moving. Hence, an advanced racer would notice the different and apply a suitable setting to cope with different road surfaces. Lightweight plastic front upper arm gives more performance on the race.

RC Racer Choice
But with the Aluminum front upper arm the caster angle and camber angle could be adjust separately by insert different thickness of washers. Thus, increasing the accuracy of balancing the car front and the suspension system is more stable while the car is moving. Aluminum made front upper arm could increases the strength of the suspension system if experience any impact.

Tips for camber adjustment:
- Fasten the 3 x 10mm screw before insert the ball end in it to secure the upper arm in a firm position.
- For setting a different camber angle, insert another screw (e.g. 3 x 2mm) in front of the 3 x 10 mm screw then insert the ball end. So that the distance of the upper arm will be longer to provide a normal camber angle.

Al davant de tot hi anava una parella de jubilats que havien vingut de Buenos Aires per veure a la seva filla que feia uns anys que vivia a Barcelona. Al costat meu hi havia un noi japones mirant les fotos que hi havia fet amb la camera. A la meva dreta hi seia una parella de jubilats amb accent andalus que anaven a cuidar el seu net a la seva filla. Al passadis hi anava gent dreta i destacava una bella noia russa a prop de l’entrada del vago. A prop de la noia hi havia una jove parella italiana i una parella d’edat mijana alemanya amb un fill d’uns 15 anys o mes que anava acompanyat amb un amic la procedencia del qual desconec i del qual nomes puc dir que despertava l’interes de tot el vago. Al mig hi havia dues noies parlant frances i cap al final dos xicots amb el pel molt rapat, ulls blaus i amb aspecte eslau.
Aquesta era la gent que hi havia al vago on GAY.CAT escrivia aquest post mentre esperava amb expectacio qualsevol comentari dels viatgers no pas sobre l’aturada del tren des de feia cinc minuts sino sobre on ens haviem aturat: tot just davant de la platja gai i nudista de l’home mort, entre Sitges i Vilanova.

I can’t  really put it this picture in the “daily” category anymore first able because I took it yesterday and secondly I haven’t done my daily pictures since a long time which become more a random picture category than a daily one. No excuse about why I didn’t take time recently to take my daily shots…
Well, let’s just share pictures. I was walking on the beach with my father yesterday when he showed me this dead bird half decomposed in the sand.(thanks daddy)
I have done this shot with my recently forgotten nokia as I didn’t have my dslr with me. It’s really when these little camera comes handy ! I’m happy I could capture this strange scene to can share it with you now. Please enjoy the result below :
