Even without Bom performing at Music Bank, her single, You and I still manage to bag the 4th place in the Music Bank’s  K-Chart! If only she performed there, she could’ve won!

Park Bom’s You and I is song of the month in Cyworld!

If you have been keeping track (like every 2days) on what You and I is doing in the charts. You would find that it would stay in the Top  5 and wouldn’t go down( It would go no. 1 then 2, 3 and 4 then 3 again). Indeed, it was there for weeks! Until now, it’s  still no. 1 in Melon!

So, there’s no doubt Cyworld would declare it as Song of The Month.

I woke up a little late, but it is Monday and here is my little wrap-up of last weekend.  I know MAMA is done and over with, and last night was the AMA’s, but here it is, just so no one thinks I missed out on anything (not that there was much to miss out on, anyway).  It will be quick and easy because I was unenthused for the most part.

I’ll start with Korea’s MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards)

First, I’m just going to get this outta the way – who witnessed THIS unfortunate incident??

I thought it was kinda funny that G-Dragon rocked so damn hard that he bust his seems, and in the most  inconvenient area.  I wonder if he noticed, or worse, felt it the second it happened… xP

I’m indifferent about the performances on Saturday night’s award show.  1.) I didn’t like the stage 2.) I detested the camera work and 3.) the performers lacked a bit of something…what is it…um, stage presence?  I like a lot of the songs that were performed at MAMA, but I was left a little underwhelmed by most of the acts.

And speaking of ‘acts‘, act 1, 2, and 3 of 2NE1’s 21st Street Musical was the most uncomfortable I’ve seen those ladies, ever.  The whole thing was scary.  See, the idea was great, but when I saw it for the first time on Saturday, I had no clue why they decided to stick with it.

If it was awkward for me to watch from my computer, who knows what the audience was thinking.

Act 1: KISS by Sandara – was all over the place.  The dancing was strange.  I noticed that Dara’s section of the stage said Club KISS, so I didn’t quite understand why the dancers were whirling around doing pirouettes.  Whirling in a club??  Don’t think so, and the cameraman hardly focused on Dara, and not to mention the terrible lighting at times… -_-

Act 2: You and I by Bom -  She looked adorable in her little house set, but on the contrary to Dara’s lack of focus from the cameraman, with Bom, all we had was her standing there while you’d get a glimpse of people scurrying around in the background.  She sounded good, though, but this is where I was thinking to myself ; “what does this have to do with act 1?“

Act 3: Please Don’t Go by CL and Minji – And this is where I realized that the entire concept of a musical was thrown out of the window. CL and Minji’s outfits are a little questionable, but this performance taken out of the whole musical was probably the best one.

As for the ending number, I thought it was dreadful.  I hope YG doesn’t put 2NE1 through something like this again, cuz it was not that great.

21st Street:

Brown Eyed Girls performed Sign, which wasn’t half bad, actually.  The beginning in particular was really nice.  They looked stun-ning!  They also performed a little number with KARA, dancing to a mix of Mister and Abracadabra, which was pretty hot, too.

Miryo took part in a little rap get-together with rappers from other female groups and, oddly enough, rapped to Lil’ Mama’s Lip Gloss.  To be honest, I don’t take any of these ladies as serious rappers.  Especially that girl with the black fur coat – she annoyed me with her sudden squeals.

G-Dragon and Taeyang performed their solo songs, along with a duet of Korean Dream.  Korean Dream was one of the better performances, I think.  G-Dragon’s DJ section was nice.

As for their solo songs, I saw no purpose for having all those men standing there on stage for Heartbreaker, doing absolutely nothing.  And I hurt a little when Taeyang did that flip and crotch landing on the floor.

2PM performed Heartbeat, which was actually really good.  They looked good and their hairstyle still makes me laugh.  JYP comes up somewhere in the middle and ‘pretends’ to conduct an orchestra.  But he redeems himself for poor orchestra knowledge with all the cool effects that later followed.  I think he took those flashy glasses from Miryo.  xD  Near the end, 2PM performs Again & Again.

Then there was this number.  Netizens aren’t too happy about this, mainly fangirls who are oozing with jealousy.  I, personally, thought this was a good performance.  Nichkhun was obviously part of the whole thing, but there are people out there that believe Ivy drew him up and made him uncomfortable by force.  No, no, no, uncomfortable is far from what he felt.  And the cleavage shouldn’t be an issue, I mean, if you’re listening to the song, Ivy is making it pretty clear that she wants to be touched.  A lot.

when a performance gets super heated like this, no one should take it seriously.  She was putting on a show, that’s what performers do, and she did a great job, no?

A pile of artists performed.  Janet Jackson opened the night with a decent melody of songs.  She was clearly lip-syncing, but that’s not a big shocker, since she always does that.  There were some boring performances in between.  One that I did enjoy was Shakira.  I thought she was amazing.  I thought it was funny when many women started dancing sexually in front of all the celebrities; you could tell they were awkwarded out.  I didn’t know the song Rihanna performed, so I didn’t like it.  Lady Gaga kept it pretty safe with the most outrageous part being a flaming piano.  And I think that’s where I stopped watching the award show because it was so goddamn boring.  I read that Jennifer Lopez fell on her butt, which was probably hilarious, since she’s struggling to break out on the music scene again…

2NE1 not only are doing well in their group activity but now also their solo activities. ‘Please don’t go’ is realease only 20th and now it is topping various chart.

I hope YG will let the two maknaes promote this song.. but if that will happen they will end up battling with Taeyang.. will YG allow that? other companies does that but I haven’t seen YG done that.

And You and I is still doing good. will we see Bom next week on music shows?

I totally enjoyed the performance overall. The musical theme was awesome! Dara might be lacking a little in her vocals when she was performing “Kiss”, but her expression and interaction with Lee Yong Woo made it alllll up!

Bom unni looked so sweet in her dress while singing “You and I”. Everything worked for me here. From the setting of the stage (Bom in the attic), to her dress and the way she sang.

But my FAVOURITE part was CL and MINZY’s COLLABORATION! OK. This is a MUST WATCH! I wanna get Minzy’s pants. It looks so good. And did u guys notice Kim Tae Woo oppa and GD’s expression. Tae Woo oppa was totally enjoying himself and showing the girls lots of support! GD looks glad. haha, smiling to himself, noding to the beat.  Back to the girls, they were filled with energy, their vocals were stable despite the dancing  and they really looked like they were enjoying themselves. Well, YG babies really know how to enjoy themselves while performing dont they? 

Next, we have GD+YB!!!!!!
KOREAN DREAM (7 WAVE)

GD performed “Heartbreaker” and once again, Jiyong is all out to proof that he’s different! Yay, Love his attitude. With all the kpop boy idols copying GD’s signature “Heartbreaker” blonde hair, GD has change it back to his original colour. Thats my man! haha… He did a different rendition of his hit solo, this time round with a rock edgy feel to it. Ok, the way he decended was kinda feaky, but other than that, he did GREAT! Many might find his coat odd, but VIPs never doubt Jiyong’s unique sense of fashion ya?
(Have u guys thought of why there are so many blondes just standing there in the “heartbreaker” masks? ahem, I think I figured out what they mean…) 

Next up was YB with “Where U at” and “Wedding Dress”

I went wild when I saw him appearing with his shades, standing alone with no dancers. I guess YB alone was able to pull it off and he DID. We can all see how much he gave with the overflowing amount of energy that was potrayed in the dance. WOW, I still prefer the effect with the dancers though. The impact was wayyy off the roof when the dancers came in. Although YB was tired from dancing, he still managed the vocals well. Not perfect, but not bad either. Looks like its a give and take kinda stuff. YB, theres still room for improvement. FIGHTING!!! You can do better!

The HIGHLIGHT!!! “KOREAN DREAM”

YB-Black, GD-White. I LOVE THE CONTRAST when the 2 groups stood beside each other. What else can I say? haha.. GD was awesome at working the crowd. With his random screams and and badass attitude, no wonder the crowd went wild. Gosh, I wanna go watch SHINE A LIGHT so badly now… Besides that, GD’s short remix + YB’s dance= PERFECTION.

I kinda fell behind this weekend and didn’t really post anything.  It felt weird not commenting on anything K-pop related.  I totally felt it’s absence and here I am, making up for lost content.

As are all my posts – brief, simple, and straightforward – here is a quick wrap up of some of the things that’ve been going on.  This all may be old news by now, but here it is anyway.  I’ll commence with Inkigayo.

SHINee came out victorious last weekend and won their third Mutizen (called a triple crown, I believe) and expressed their gratitude through their me2Day, which is the equivalence of twitter in Korea.

[Jonghyun] Triple crown!! Heart throbbing mutizen song!!! Let’s go far with your love~ Everyone be careful of the cold!!

[Taemin] Thank you all the noonas  dongsaengs aunts who give their best for us^^!! Everyone jjang, I am really happy^^;;;

[Minho] Onew hyung~ recover fast so we can perform together~ You know that there must be all 5 of us for SHINee to shine, right~?

Onew was absent due to the influenza A H1N1 that has been plaguing celebrities left and right.  He is reportedly recovering well and should be ready to go very soon.

This week was Park Bom’s second live performance of You and I.  A couple weeks ago, she was criticized from her outfit to the shaky choreography.  I wont blame the netizens this time, cuz It WAS a little on the rough side.  But she did manage to pull together a much cleaner performance on Inkigayo last weekend.

Was I satisfied, though?  Not entirely.  Watch.

I had a problem with her head turning every two seconds half way through the song.  I didn’t get it.  And I was more irritated that she kept stopping and letting the track play while she just stood there awkwardly.  She looked great, sounded alright, but the performance as a whole was a little below average for me.  Almost, dare I say it, mediocre.  It looked as if she was auditioning for American Idol or something.  I love her, but she needs to work harder on her performing skills because it’s all still shaky and really lacks a wow factor.

But that’s just me, though…

moving along to Taeyang, who debut Wedding Dress for the first time on stage.  Watch as he does a whole lot of dancing with hardly any singing…aside from the occasional ad libs.  ohh~!

This dude is FIT.  And his moves are pretty neat.  I’m jealous >.<  I thought he did a good job for his comeback, but this will probably be the one time I sit here and watch the whole thing through, cuz it wasn’t amazing enough for me to keep the video (nor the song) on replay.  Nice choreography, though, especially at the bridge and chorus.

Oh, and he gave a little taste of Where U At, just cuz he’s cool like that.

There were several other people who performed, but I’m either not interested, or I’m too unfamiliar to comment on them.  Although I like 2PM’s Heartbeat, Inkigayo’s performance was NOT that great.  Something was off with the audio.

The Inkigayo team later apologized for it.

I don’t know much about this next duo, but all I know is that Nadia is made up of Hwang Hyun and Myung In Hee.  It’s a new project group from SM Entertainment.  This video was released yesterday via YouTube and it’s a surprisingly good cover of Kara’s Mister.

Aren’t they refreshingly charming!?  I think so…

Their mini album will be released November 18th~!

Here’s Big Bang performing Let Me Hear Your Voice in Japan.  I like that TOP is growing his hair out.  It looks good.  They all do, actually.  The only thing I would change, if I was allowed to, was to remove GD’s sunglasses.  That’s a pet peeve of mine, when people wear them indoors, and not even GD gets a pass with me.

And speaking of, I believe he either messed up big time, or someone failed to edit the audio.  Because GD’s rap is way off.  It’s pretty obvious, listen.

I was hoping to never post back to back “Sing-along Sundays”, yet here I am doing exactly that. Woops. Such is life.

Enjoy this melodic and catchy tune from a talented little lady named Ingrid Michaelson. Sorry to get sappy with you all, but my wife and I love this song and used to shout it at the top of our lungs as we were driving across Washington state visiting family. Point being, if a song’s sing-along-ability is my favorite characteristic I would say it’s ability to remind you of certain memories if number 2. For our purposes, we’ll call it nostalgic-ness.

Anyway, this song is called “You and I”. Grab a partner and belt it out. Or, do what I like to do sing the low and falsetto parts.

2NE1’s main vocals, Park Bom is back at Inkigayo for her second performance of You and I. Big Bang’s main vocals, Taeyang performs his comeback stage at Inkigayo. Bom’s You and I has been topping the charts since it was released. But now that Taeyang’s Wedding Dress is out, You and I found a tough opponent. Hmmm… I smell a battle within YG Family.

So I heard that Bom was disappointed with her previous performance of You and I last week. But really, I think her performance last week was awesome. Nothing to be sad about Bom because you totally rocked Inki’s stage. And personally, I think last week’s performance was better than today’s. Today lacks choreography. And Bom looks awkward with the mic stand.

TAEYANG IS THE SEXIEST THING ON EARTH! His previous Where U At performance at Inki killed me. And today I died again. His oozing of sexiness. Plus the choreography totally outshines 2PM’s zombie dance (not that it shined anyway). I’m betting on a triple crown for Taeyang. Bong, you should learn a thing or two from Taeyang about making awesome live performances. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that I hate Heartbreaker, it just so happens that it looks pale in comparison to Taeyang’s Wedding Dress. Anyway if this was a YG Battle, I’m sorry Bom but Taeyang brings home the crown.

So the BIG THREE: YG (Bom and Taeyang), JYP (2PM), SM (SHINee) were at Inkigayo today. No wonder MBLAQ, BEAST and SS501 didn’t show up ROFL. Now seriously, congratulations to SHINee for winning the triple crown. No matter how much I wish that 2PM wins the Mutizen, I think Taeyang deserves it more.
