I made my first purchase from beautyticket.com during the last sale. I spent too much on the YSL Collector Powder for the Complexion Palette from the 2008 Autumn Winter, “Tuxedo” collection. Jesus christ that is a long name! I figured on a coral blush, shimmering highlighter, and a face powder in a cute palette. Once I got it i realized I probably would have been better off spending half as much on the bronzer trio I’ve had my eye on at Victoria’s Secret. This palette is another dud in a recent string of disappointing beauty purchases.

Packaging: The worst thing about this palette is the cheap packaging. It is plastic, like it screams plastic. It’s light, a tacky gold that holds finger prints. The included half-moon brush is too small and the bristles are plastic. It comes in a velvet sleeve that the brush slips out of.

Product: I accidentally used this once before taking a picture and the YSL over-spray disappeared completely when I touched it. I could have BLOWN it away. The highlighter is nice, white with gold shimmer, but the blush and face powder are underwhelming. I didn’t even do swatches because no amount of layering got the colors to a level where my camera could pick them up. Underpowered pigment central! This palette sets my beauty-pet-peeve-detector off too because the strips of color are each too small to fit a brush on. Trying to get some blush? Have some SUPER shiny highlighter too! You’re welcome! I got the best results swirling a brush over all the colors and just applying that on my cheeks over blush. That’s fine, but call it something nebulous like a “beauty powder” then. I mean, this was the description at beautyticket!

Filled with radiance, these three skin illuminators enable the user to adjust the effects as desired: The beige powder enhances the face with velvet-smooth transparency and is ideal for touchups throughout the day. The apricot blush warms and enlivens the complexion.

Applied on the cheekbones, the eyebrow arch and the chin, the pearly pink shade highlights the features with subtle golden reflections. Used together, these three shades offer the complexion a soft veil of light.

The product seems like almost an afterthought, which leads me to think this is an item for the YSL nerd who just wants to show it off. but then why make the packaging so embarrassingly cheap?

To be fair, with the over-the-top smokey eyes that were running free in ‘08, this palette would be a fool-proof way to acheive the understated cheek needed to pull it off. It is literally impossible to make your cheeks too bold with this palette!

Tudo no truque meu bem!

To achieve this mesmerising look start with the eyes to ensure you can wipe away any drops from the bright eye shadows.

MAC Pigment (priced £15) Purple was mixed with MAC PRO Mixing Medium/Eyeliner to create a liquid shadow.

This was applied accentuating the eyes in a cat like shape. Highlight the lid by sweeping Nars Night Life shadow (priced £14.00) close to the lash line.

Laura Mercier Purple Sapphire Kohl Eye Pencil ((priced £14.69) lined the bottom lash line but can also be used to map out the shape before filling in the eye shadow.

Collection 2000 Shake It Up glitter gel eyeliner was applied over the top of the lower liner to give an eye catching purple sparkle. Apply mascara and wipe away any drops then moisturise ready for foundation.

Annaleise wears MAC Micronised Airbrush foundation. This water resistant base has buildable coverage which lasts well and gives a dewy glow to the skin which will highlight the contours of the face.

The cheeks were subtly blushed using a plum toned blusher from Sleek Cosmetics. Glossy Claret lips were achieved by applying Loreal Studio Secrets Plum Lipsstick (priced £8.99) which was blotted before Rimmel Shock gloss in Magnificent (priced £4.49) was slicked over the top for a patent shine (priced £4.20)

For the nails I used L’Oreal Resist & Shine Titanium 710 Meteorite (priced £4.88).

Start with the electrifying blue eyes. Use a blue pencil like Bourjois Contour Clubbing Waterproof eye pencil (priced £4.50) to trace around the upper and lower lash lines and smudge around the eye. This will give your eye shadow a crease-free water poof base to adhere to and intensify the colour in this area.

Now, sweep MAC’s Deep Truth eye shadow (priced £11.00) all over the lids and blend in MAC Plumage (priced £11.00) slightly out from the socket line.

Densely line the inside waterlines in MAC Smolder Kohl Liner (priced £12.00) and apply a platinum shine to the lips using Bobbi Brown Pearl Sugar Gloss (priced £14.00). Finish with Dior Show Waterproof Mascara (priced £20.00)

Once the skin around the eyes has been cleaned of any powder drops, apply YSL’s Matte Touch primer (priced £27.00) with finger tips to eradicate shine, create gorgeous velvet smooth skin and increase the endurance of foundation. Now apply Oil free Iman Second to None cream to powder foundation .

The finishing touch to this look was jewel toned talons Chanel nail colour, in Blue Satin

Apply L’Oreal Studio Secrets Shadow Grey eye shadow (priced £5.99) to the whole lid area all the way up to the socket bone and also sweep along the lower lash line

Light up your eyes by highlighting the inner corners with a vibrant silver shadow MAC Pigment in Silver (priced £15.00) and give a flash of colour to it by blending blue eye shadow Bobbi Brown Midnight (priced £14.00) out from the outer corners, elongating the eye shape.

Add warmth to the cheeks with Bobbi Brown Cranberry (priced £16.00), paint some illuminating sparkle on the lips by sweeping on Chanel Levres Scintillantes Magnifique (priced £18.00) and to the nails by finishing the look with Gosh Nail Varnish in Gasoline (priced £4.89).

Now you are ready to go out and own the night.

Real fashion film isn’t just an afterthought, a mere video of a catwalk show or installation, it must stand on its own as a representation of the designer’s vision and inspiration. Some fashion films are triumphs of experimental film, like Luis Bunuel with a HiDef camera.

A Shaded View on Fashion Film started in Paris and now travels the world for fashion weeks in Seoul, London and Tokyo.

Gareth Pugh’s fashion film for his Autumn/Winter collection took top honours last month at A Shaded View on Fashion Film, produced by leading fashion film creators ShowStudio. The very definition of austere; a silhouetted outfit billows in black over a white background, a model’s hair dissolves to ink (a popular visual at the moment, as seen in the latest Nissan TVC), lots of treadmill model walking and the hackneyed old mirrored split screen. These visual motifs have been done better before. The opening silhouette zooms into full frame with the feet distractingly cut off, there are some clunky cross-fades and the ink is unconvincingly composited and masked. When filming an ink drop into water, the water ripples cause the image of the ink drop to shake. An image stabilization in post is usually required to correct the water ripple, but is noticeably absent here, so there’s a stable model and an incongruously shaky ink drop.

However, the ‘slice’ motif is pretty cool, first appearing subtly at 40 seconds with variations occurring throughout. At 5 minutes 41 seconds the film visually switches to an under-illuminated series of still poses and understated movements lit by a single swinging lamp just out of frame. Its a lovely counterpoint to the over-lit cyclorama that precedes and follows.

But there’s the distinct impression that this was a “shoot first, ask questions later” kind of production, where the director had only a vague notion of how she wanted the finished film to look when directing the shoot. Fashion films are free to be a visually experimental mindfuck, but if the only connective tissue is the designer’s garments, audience interest will be limited to the fashion community. Connective tissue is woven in a script outlining a concrete theme, without that your stuck bullshitting your way through post-production. I don’t see why fashion films, even those ostensibly intended for the catwalk, shouldn’t transcend the fashionista demo. Luis Bunuel brought surrealist cinema to the mainstream with Un chien Andalou in 1929, a palimpsest of social and religious iconography sketched with a thick ink of existential dread. Similarly expressionistic, fashion film can be a contemporary aeolian harp played by the winds of our malaise and aspirations. ShowStudio and YSL’s 24hrs is proof its possible.

The new Phoebe Philo’ Celine collection just run the catwalk.

You can see very clearly so many different influences as: Montana, YSL, Calvin Klein and Armani.

Looks like a deja vu collection.

When Celine sold her brand years ago she supposed to stay as adviser but after few month she and her husband was invited to leave the atelier.

The same history in all the other brands.

Why instead Celine by Phoebe Philo they just don’t do Phoebe by Phoebe Phylo.

Luxury brands can no longer hide from the Internet and the social media opportunities available to them. But still, not every luxury brand is taking advantage of those opportunities and the ones that are, haven’t necessarily got it all figured out yet. But a few luxe brands (especially from the fashion/beauty category) are leading by example and one of the major arenas they are playing in is Twitter. While number of followers is not the only important factor to consider when judging a brand’s success, it is an indication of the fact that consumers care about a brand and what they have to say. So what’s all the hype about? What are these brands tweeting about and why do people care?

Louis Vuitton: 55,073 followers - Besides tweeting about new stores, celebs decked out in Louis and other company news, Louis Vuitton recently started writing “Heritage Tweets” that contain history factoids about the iconic brand.

I am a powder girl. No liquid foundations for me. And definition of powder can only comes in loose or compact not even 2-way cake for me. Yes i know these days foundations are ingenious with built in benefits like hydration, SPF and glow factor etc. But i am still not wowed – being natural is in my profile. I am most happy with least makeup. I only wear them when i go for dinner or for serious photo taking. Have been an ardent fan of Estee Lauder loose powder since the day I started on makeup. Only decided to change cos i wanted some adventure. I chanced upon this innovative packaging (by YSL) some time ago. Though i still like the finer texture of my first loose powder, i definitely treasure the fun of this new “toy” and the no-more-mess of loose powder. You just need to dial the rim anti-clockwise, the powder is out. And you can control the amount you want, no more turning the powder upside down!

I’m really excited to have My good friend Chantelle James (www.Beautyboxartistry.com) professional makeup artist giving me monthly updates on her favorite products and top tips on how to use them. Chantelle and I work very closely together on photoshoot’s, you can see some of our work at my photography portfolio www.pritography.com.

Chantelle has given me 10 of her current favorite products and tips on how to use them.. Here we go-

1. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour cream

Price- £22.00

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream helps to fight against chapped lips (great for those wintery lips) and leaves skin feeling silky smooth and well conditioned. The 8 hour cream is also great for burnt, irritated and dry skin.

Chantelle’s Top tip- Apply all over the face including lips first thing after your morning cleansing routine, this will throughly condition your skin and prepare it for your makeup.

Fix + is a hydration spray made from spring water, vitamins and minerals. Some ingredient’s include: camomile, cucumber and green tea.

Chantelle’s Top tip- Spray before applying your moisturiser, this will help to hydrate your skin leaving it supple and smooth. This is great preparation for your base makeup. Hydrated skin does not drink your makeup therefore allowing your makeup to last longer throughout the day.

Mulberry root extract is one of the ingredient’s used in this product, it helps to tone down skin redness.

Chantelle’s Top tip- Apply on a daily basis on top of your moisturiser for maximum effect.

Chantelle’s Top tip- Great for a girl on the go. There is no fuss as you have a lip pencil, gloss and lipstick all in one.

My favorite shades:

Raisen Berry- Darker/chocolate skin tones
