In Naruto Shippuuden 110,  Guren says, “I fully realize that no matter how much I may regret it, no matter how many times I say I’m sorry, nothing will ever erase what I did.”

Firstly, Guren acknowledges that feeling sorrow, or grief will not erase her sins. Guren’s quote follows after a biblical principal: Although the believer and non-believer both have sorrow,  sorrow in of itself does not erase wrong-doing.

Biblical Principle: All Grief is Not Created Equal

Paul writes in 2nd Corinthians 7:10, “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas world grief produces death.”

The difference between the two types of grief are what the grief produces: One produces death, the other produces repentance that leads to salvation without regret.

What Repentance Isn’t (Keeping the Law)

Worldly grief lacks repentance that leads to salvation, not just stopping sin. Paul is not simply saying to stop sinning. Paul says that the repentance must lead to salvation with no regret. In other words, a non-believer cannot repent by obeying the law! Why? Because keeping the law is impossible.

Jesus says:

“Unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
- Matthew 5:20

There was no one that tried harder than the Pharisees to keep the whole law.

However, keeping the whole law is impossible! James writes:

“For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it. For he who said, ‘Do not commit adultery’, also said, ‘Do not murder.’ If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty.”
- James 2:10-11

James argues that if your want to keep the law than you must keep the whole law. Therefore, if a person already has failed in one point, he has failed in keeping all of them!

Based on what both Jesus and James said, we know that a repentance leading to salvation is not just keeping the law since failing one means we’ve failed them all.

Repentance Leading to Salvation

In order to repent with a repentance leading to salvation we first must confess our sins:

“If we we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
- 1 John 1:9

Second, we must do it by faith in Jesus Christ:

“But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it- the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe…and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.”
- Romans 3:21-25

A Salvation with No Regrets

Lastly, Paul specifies that godly grief produces a repentance that leads to Salvation with no regrets. There is only one reason why we can have no regrets: Being justified by faith. Paul writes:

“Since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
- Romans 5:1

A righteousness by faith produces peace with God. The righteousness by faith reconciles us to God (Romans 5:11), producing peace.

To receive salvation from God, Guren must have faith in Christ propitiation for her sins (propitiation means satisfying of God’s wrath or judgment for our sins). Do you have a faith leading to salvation and forgiveness of your sins? Guren took the first step, confessing her sins, and admitting the uselessness of only feeling sorry for her sins. Can you?

NS 101 – Everyone’s Feelings

Guren is rendered unconscious and relives her past as Naruto is caught in an illusion about Sasuke. After Kakashi finds him, Teams Kakashi and Kurenai conclude the mist around them causes Genjutsu courtesy of the Three-Tails. After Guren wakes up, Yūkimaru suffers another fever and passes out. Tsunade hears of the Three-Tails and assembles Shizune, Ino, Tenten and Lee to go and seal it before the Akatsuki do. Naruto and Sakura talk about the home that people should return to before Naruto heads off to find Yūkimaru.

NS 102 – Regroup!

Naruto and his teammates meet Shizune, Ino, Tenten and Lee. The ninjas are spilt into three teams by Kakashi. The Sealing team is made up of Shizune, Sakura, Ino and Hinata. Kakashi, Naruto, Sai and Shino form the Fighting team and the Guarding team comprises of Yamato, Lee, Tenten and Kiba. Tenten passes Naruto a scroll for the mission that the Fifth Hokage gave to her. In a new development, Rinji turns out to be Kabuto’s spy on Guren.

NS 103  – The Four-Corner Sealing Barrier

The teams set off. Naruto introduces Sai and Shino to each other. The sealing team prepares a search and barrier jutsu to seal the Three-Tailed Beast. Kakashi’s fighting team is suddenly attacked by Gozu and Guren while the guarding team begins fighting as well. Lee, Tenten and Kiba finish off Rinji’s subordinates with ease. Meanwhile, Naruto angers Guren saying it’s his fault Yūkimaru went over to ‘her side’ and that he won’t allow her using him as a tool.

NS 104 – Breaking the Crystal Style

The Fighting team continues its battle. Tobi decides to go seek the Three-Tails on his own as he had angered Deidara earlier. He discovers the sealing team trying to seal the Three-Tails at the lake. Shino’s bugs defeat Guren, but Kakashi is stopped from killing her by Gozu, who dies protecting Guren. The guarding team stops Rinji from interfering with the sealing team just as Guren remembers she is the one who killed Yūkimaru’s mother. Kabuto uses this fact to manipulate Guren.

NS 105  - The Battle Over the Barrier

Guren heads back to the lake with Yūkimaru and Kabuto to stop the sealing. With Rinji’s help, she manages to disrupt the jutsu, and the beast begins attacking the ninja on the lake. As the beast tries to attack Guren, Yūkimaru uses his power to make it stop, and Orochimaru’s plan is revealed to have been to manipulate Yūkimaru to love Guren and willingly use his power for her. Tobi, noticing the beast, goes to bring Deidara to it.

NS 106 – Red Camellia

Yūkimaru falters and the Three-Tails attacks Guren. Yūkimaru uses his power to restrain the Three-Tails, but he runs out of chakra and is unable to do so. Guren leaves her position and protects Yūkimaru with a Crystal Style shield. Naruto goes out to find Yūkimaru, but ends up fighting the Three-Tails with Guren. Despite their efforts to defeat it, the beast overpowers the two of them, and then proceeds to swallow them. Meanwhile, Kakashi, Shino, and Sai find Yūkimaru unconscious and flee with him, leaving Kabuto frustrated.

NS 107 - Strange Bedfellows

Guren tries to attack Naruto within the Three-Tails, but passes out instead. Meanwhile, Sakura and Ino heal Yūkimaru while Kakashi, Shizune, Kiba, Sai, and Hinata search for Naruto. Naruto and Guren soon encounter a horde of mini Three-Tails that try to attack them, but they evade them and begin to argue about Yūkimaru. While Yūkimaru awakens, Naruto summons numerous Shadow Clones to look for a way out of the beast’s stomach. Elsewhere, Kabuto gives Curse Marks to Rinji’s men, ordering them to capture Yūkimaru.

NS 108 - Guidepost of the Camellia

Naruto and Guren help each other from the hungry mini Three-Tails as Rinji’s men attack Lee’s group. Yūkimaru and Kakashi devise a plan to track the Three-Tails with the boy’s power and get Naruto and Guren out. After Naruto and Guren escape from an illusion making fog, Naruto begins to realize Guren’s good intentions. Yūkimaru then plays the song his mother taught him right above where the Three-Tails is submerged and Kakashi makes a crack in the beast’s barrier; Naruto and Guren hear the tune and blast their way out.

NS 109 - Counterattack of the Curse Mark

The Sealing Team prepare to contain the Three-Tails again, and tell Sai to take Yūkimaru somewhere safe, but Sai is attacked and beaten up by Kabuto’s men, who retrieve Yūkimaru. Rinji finds his comrades but they decide not to work for him or Orochimaru anymore. They suddenly begin to suffer fatal side effects from their powers, and Rinji gives them the antidote after making them promise not to betray Orochimaru and to continue following his orders. The Sealing Team is attacked by Rinji’s men, but are defended by Kakashi, Yamato and Shino. Rinji makes Yūkimaru eat more pills to control the Three-Tails while Naruto and Guren notice the boy using his powers.

NS 110 – Memory of Guilt

The Sealing Team continues to seal the Three-Tails with Katsuyu’s help while Kakashi, Yamato and Shino defeat Rinji’s men and prepare to find Yūkimaru. Meanwhile, Naruto and Guren find Rinji with Yūkimaru, and Rinji reveals to him that Guren was the one who killed his mother. Yūkimaru forgives Guren, however Rinji tries to attack her but is stopped by Naruto. Rinji is then revealed to be Kabuto in disguise, who threatens to kill Naruto if he gets in his way.

NS 111 – Shattered Promise

Kabuto explains that he killed Rinji, and that Orochimaru wants the Three-Tails to prepare for the upcoming war. He summons Rinji’s corpse, which he uses to attack Guren and Yūkimaru. Guren manages to fight back by crystalizing herself along with Rinji. The huge crystal, with Guren and Rinji inside, drops into the lake. Yūkimaru then believes that Guren is dead and his grief causes him to overuse his power on the Three-Tails, breaking the Sealing Jutsu. Naruto uses his Collaboration Jutsu with Gamakichi and Gamatatsu to attack the Three-Tails, forcing it underwater and stopping its rage. Naruto goes to Yūkimaru who is lying near the lake unconscious and tells him they will go home together.

NS 112 – A Place to Return To

Gozu rescues Guren at the bottom of the lake and Yukimaru, who has lost his ability to control the Three-Tails, awakens to find his crystal charm glowing, and happily runs off into the night to find Guren and later that morning leaves with Guren and Gozu. Tsunade orders the teams to return to the village to regroup because of their wounds and because without Yukimaru’s abilities Orochimaru is no longer able to control the beast, and sends ANBU to keep watch of the lake. Tobi and Deidara return to the lake, and after Deidara kills the ANBU members, the two Akatsuki members lure out the Three Tails and easily capture it.

Episode 105 : The Battle Over The Barrier

Guren yang “kabur” dari pertarungannya melawan kelompok Kakashi siap menggagalkan misi Naruto dan kawan-kawan. Guren datang dan langsung menyerang ke arah four corner sealing barrier. Tenten dan Lee yang udah tau ada musuh dateng menahan serangan pertama Guren.

Tenten dan Lee terdesak ma serangan Guren. Rinji menggunakan kesempatan ini buat menghancurkan segel yang lagi dibuat kelompok Tsunade. Tapi Naruto datang tepat waktu dengan serangan jutsu kolaborasi Naruto – Gamatatsu, water pistol. Yep, Gamatatsu dan Gamakichi dipanggil Naruto.

Dan arghhhhh…..Sanbi muncul dan ngamuk! (akhirnya bisa ngeliat juga wujud asli Sanbi, dari muka sampe ekor!). Segel kelompok Tsunade terancam gagal. Dan bener aja, Sanbi alias Three Tails langsung nyerang dengan kekuatannya. Semua yang ada di danau, akhirnya harus terpental ma serangan Sanbi. Dan akhirnya segel dari kelompok Tsunade pun bener-bener hancur. Misi pun kayanya gagal…

Tobi yang dari tadi ngeliat kejadian ini, kaget ngeliat wujud Sanbi. Yep, target yang dia cari ada disini. Sanbi alias Three Tails!!

Sanbi yang dari tadi ngamuk mendekati Guren yang terdampar di deket bukit dan siap menyerang Guren. Yuukimaru yang ngeliat ini, langsung mengeluarkan kemampuannya, mengontrol Sanbi!!

Episode 106 : Red Camellia

Apapun yang terjadi, Guren harus nyelamatin Yuukimaru dan pergi dari tempat ini. Tapi Guren harus terluka akibat serangan Sanbi berikutnya, ditambah luka dari Rinji yang tiba-tiba datang. Dengan di provokasi Rinji, Yuukimaru mengeluarkan cakranya lagi buat ngontrol Sanbi, kali ini lebih besar dari sebelumnya. Serangan Sanbi berhasil di reda, Guren pun sementara selamat.

Sanbi_Three Tails

Tapi ini cuma sebentar, Yuukimaru udah bener-bener habis! Sanbi pun mulai ngamuk lagi. Buat melindungi Yuukimaru, Guren membuat barrier dari kristal buat Yuukimaru. Sementara Yuukimaru sendiri turun ke danau dan melawan Sanbi.

Yang bikin saya ga nyangka, Naruto yang datang ternyata kerjasama ma Guren buat melawan Sanbi. Serangan kristal Guren dan Rasengan Naruto ternyata ga mempan sama sekali buat Sanbi. Tapi Guren punya rencana jitu. Setelah diserang Sanbi dan harus tenggelam, Guren mengeluarkan jutsu lainnya yang belum digunakan, Crystal Styel Arrow of Light! Jutsu Guren ini berhasil melukai mata Sanbi.

Naruto menggunakan kesempatan ini buat nyerang Sanbi lagi. Dengan Giant Rasengannya, Naruto berhasil membuat Sanbi terdesak. Sanbi pun masuk ke dalam air. Tapi……..ternyata Sanbi belum habis! Sanbi muncul lagi, loncat dan menyerang Naruto dan Guren! Barrier yang dibuat Guren buat Yuukimaru pecah. Pertanda Guren mati? Tapi Yuukimaru berhasil diselamatin dan dibawa Kakashi, Sai, dan Shino.

Guren mati? Naruto gimana? Kemanakah mereka? Kita liat di episode minggu depan!hhee…

Episode 103 : Four Corner Sealing Barrier

Misi untuk menyegel Three Tails dan menyelamatkan Yuukimaru dimulai!

Kelompok Tsunade : Hinata, Sakura, dan Ino mulai membuat four corner sealing barrier untuk menyegel Three Tails. Segel ini akan di tempatkan tepat di atas Three Tails berada. Kelompok Kakashi : Naruto, Sai, dan Shino ketemu ma Guren dan Gozu. Dan harus bentrok di tengah danau. Naruto, Sai, dan Kakashi bertarung lawan Gozu dan Guren. Shino lagi nyiapin jutsu serangga …

Kelompok Yamato : Lee, Kiba, dan Tenten pun bentrok ma kelompok Rinji dan kawan-kawan di tengah danau. Smoke yang dibuat anak buah Rinji berhasil dimentahkan Lee dengan vision of heart nya yang udah di ajarin ma Gai. Melihat ini, Tenten dan Kiba langsung semangat dan berhasil mengalahkan anak buah Rinji tanpa ampun dan tanpa perlawanan.

Episode 104 : Breaking The Crystal Style

Battle antara kelompok Kakashi dengan Guren dan Gozu tambah seru. Sai ngelawan Gozu dengan kehebatan ninja art nya. Sementara Naruto dan Kakashi ngelawan Guren yang harus diakui jutsu crystal style nya emang hebat. Battlenya seru cuy!

Naruto Shippuuden 104

Guren akhirnya terdesak ma serangan serangga Shino yang udah disiapin Shino sebelumnya buat ngelawan crystal style Guren. Makin terdesak lagi gara-gara Naruto mulai nyerang lewat Tajuu Kagebunshin dan Rasengannya. Akhirnya dengan kondisi yang makin terdesak, Guren bikin barrier buat dirinya sendiri, buat nahan serangan Naruto dan Shino. Barrier berhasil nahan serangan-serangan mereka.

Kakashi akhirnya turun tangan. Dengan Chidorinya, Kakashi mulai nyerang Guren. Ga disangka, Gozu menghalanginya. Yep, Gozu akhirnya bisa melepaskan diri dari Sai dengan jutsu lumpurnya. Dan sekarang Gozu harus nahan serangan Chidori Kakashi. Kekuatan Chidori emang luar biasa. Sebelum Gozu mati, Gozu berhasil menyelamatkan Guren dengan lumpurnya. Kristal barrier berhasil hancur, tapi Guren udah ga ada di area pertarungan.

Di laen tempat, segel udah hampir selesai dan di bawa ke tengah danau tempat Three Tails berada. Rinji yang berhasil selamat dari pertarungan dengan kelompok Yamato mencoba menggagalkan segel kelompok Tsunade. Tapi usahanya berhasil digagalkan ma Lee yang dateng tepat waktu.

Usaha menyegel Three Tails mendekati berhasil. Tapi kayanya jadi tambah rumit lagi. Tobi dari akatsuki udah nyampe di deket danau dan ngeliat apa yang dilakukan kelompok Tsunade. Deidara juga kayanya bentar lagi nyusul Tobi. Ditambah lagi, Guren dan Kabuto mulai siap-siap pake Yuukimaru buat ngontrol Three Tails dan menggagalkan segel dari kelompok Tsunade.

Rumit….!haghh…

Gimana kelanjutan segel dari kelompok Tsunade? Three Tails muncul lagi lewat control dari Yuukimaru? Gimana ma rencana Tobi dan Deidara yang emang khusus buat nyari Three Tails (sanbi)? Ikuti kelanjutannya di episode minggu depan….

SALAM RASENGAN! Halah….

The lake is covered in mist caused by the Three Tailed Beast (Sanbi).  Guren is unconscious while Yuukimaru kept watch over her.  Naruto, on the other hand, has had hallucinations about Orochimaru and Sasuke.  He almost hurled a rasengan on Kiba if Kakashi didn’t stop him.  Naruto told them what he saw on the lake.  He would’ve wanted to go back to check on Yuukimaru but Kakashi did not allow him to.  Kakashi also sent Pakkun back to Tsunade to await orders.

Meanwhile, Guren was awakened by a dream about her past.  I’m not quite sure but it seems as if she is the person that killed Yuukimaru’s mother.  When she awoke, she found Yuukimaru beside her before he fell ill again.  Yuukimaru told her she is the person he is supposed to return to.

Back in Konoha, Tsunade received the report from Pakkun and decided they need to capture the Sanbi before either Orochimaru or the Akatsuki succeeded in doing so.  She sent Ino, Tenten, Lee and Shizune to assist Kakashi and the rest of the team in sealing the Sanbi.

Meanwhile, Sakura and Naruto are the first to keep watch.  Sakura saw Naruto in deep thought and went to him.  Naruto said that he was thinking about what Jiraiya told him that home is where someone is thinking about you.  They resolved together to keep thinking about Sasuke no matter how hard it may seem for their thoughts to reach him.  They will never give up.  It was so sweet.  Anyway, after Sakura left to go back to her post, Naruto decided he has to find Yuukimaru, saying if he really doesn’t have a home to go to, then he could come home with him.

So, Orochimaru did plan to capture the Three Tailed Beast!  Yuukimaru can indeed control the three tails — that was the experiement afterall, but only up to a certain point, it seems.  And Guren’s role is to contain the beast with her Crystal Style Jutsu.  However, the three tails is too strong even for Guren.  None of her Jutsu worked on the three tails.  Naruto also finally discovered that the person Yuukimaru is returning to is with them.  Guren also used all her chakra in the end to protect Yuukimaru from the three tails’ rampage.  There’s also in the end, like a dimensional gate where the three tail disappeared to after Yuukimaru, for the last time, tried to control him.

Look, it's Hinata and the Seven Dwarfs!

Hinata’s caught in crystal; Naruto works his toad. Yuukimaru puts on Kabuto’s funny hat, swallows a handful of pills and, as Kabuto puts it, starts to have some fun. Sanbi no Isonade starts to take form at last.

This is Mollie (Ibiki Teishi) with a breakdown of Shippuden episode 98.  Those of you who have been to my fanfic site, you’ve probably seen most of this, it was written last Thursday when everyone was certain Hinata was dead.  From here out, on orders from ma pimp, I’ll be posting these regularly to iareawesomeness.  If you want to see the rundown for older episodes, feel free to visit my fanfic blog (reviews go back to Episode 82).

Camelia Waves as Sanbi is Called

Yuukimaru’s camelia imagery continues, I loved this pic and kept wanting to catch this half sec of vid because the camelia only forms for a second and drifts away.  Japaneses art, fer sure, dude…appreciate it.  The frames before telegraph it’s arrival though; it appears for a sec, and then it is gone. It was groovy, and I couldn’t let it pass by without capturing it for you.  For those of you not currently watching the anime, Yuukimaru is the presumed host of the three tails.  He’s a messed up kid with a unisex name like Robin or Pat or…Sam.  He sure does have a think for camelias tho.

This was a much improve episode. Good amounts of jutsu, suspense and finally a show down between Team Guren and Team Konoha. There was fu, but no injury, a standoff and hostage situation, a rescue, a mistake that worked out and a Guren Yuukimaru reunion. Kabuto comes along looking like a…I don’t want to say it…he honestly looks like a villain reject from an old Scooby Doo episode. He comes in wearing a baggy cloak with a hood that drags the ground and sleeves that hang past his hands. This ep starts where the last one ended, Naruto bringing down the crystal jutsu house with toad spit! We see some great teamwork by Tenzou (Yamato) moving Sai into action as Naruto takes a typical “Naruto style” lead and fires off his jutsu even as Kakashi tries to stop him. Guren counters, turns the spit to a big pink crystal dragon and shatters Sai’s big ink bird. Priceless! But instead of just blabbing about it, let me show you.

The justu, the action…the…GULP! Did you catch that? Naruto’s frog tongue just ate Hinata, and…that’s all I have to say about that. Then the frog had to get her back up, so there was a little crystal barf. Gamatatsu…I have to say he’s kind of growing on me. Water pistol, toad gullet. And with the manga in it’s current state, I’m wondering if Gamabunta survived or if Gamatatsu is destined to be his successor?

I know, I know...one more puke or snot joke and you'll slap me...but this is funny!

Now, thanks to last week’s special guest appearance by insert unnecessary filler character here, oops, I meant Tsunade…we learned that getting turned into jewelry was actually not a pretty thing. Oh! Look, a byakugan sun catcher! No, not nice at all. Apparently the jutsu crystalizes everything in its path. Everything. That includes spit, snot, flegm, bile and blood. Oof. That means Hinata is one big Folger’s flavor crystal and we’ve secretly replaced her regular blood with rich, delicious Guren crystals.

But then! A miracle! And you all reading the manga should sit up and pay attention.

This is the second time the anime and the manga have converged conveniently at the time of serious character threat. The first time was with Kakashi. The day he went down in the rubble, he was saying “I will survive” in that day’s anime episode. Fan service? Creepy timing? Coincidence? Could be.

Then today. Hinata faces down Pain and it looks bad…THIS is what they give us on Hinata. Twice now. And the anime has been moving backward, marching in place until this very day. This is intentional. Take a look at the clip and let me know what you think…

Hmmm…unusual don’t you think?

Provides a way that Hinata could have rescued herself. Provides a little foreshadowing to her future confession to Naruto. Was it fan service and marketing? Or does it add to the story? Is it a hint? I think we’ve got hints and foreshadowing here and I’m reasonably sure this was planned timing.

But meaning? or marketing?

Your guess is as good as mine.

Team Leaf split up to go after Guren’s squad. Finally the bats are used to lure the enemy out of hiding, but not before a well placed fart joke. What did I say up there? That you probably had had enough of my snot and puke shots…so, here’s something a bit different. Pootin’…and I don’t mean that guy from Russia.

Kiba talks trash and gets his nose bent out of shape.

Ah, there is nothing like the breath of fresh air from a well-placed fart joke. It’s da bomb! Light a match, er, don’t light a match. Let’s crack a window instead. (Now, young ‘uns…the art to the fart is to use the element of surprise…spring up on someone unexpectedly, but then…disappear just as suddenly. Don’t. Dwell. You could have a real problem on your…uh…in your…)  MOVIN’ ON.

Sanbi's host from Manga 320 Poster; Yuukimaru and his violet eyes from Ep #98

A lot of people have asked how I know Yuukimaru is the destined host to the three tails.  Well, the name of the arc references the three tails, Kabuto’s been doing weird experiments on her, uh, him, uh the kid.  Then we also have the poster of the beast hosts (manga #320).  I think the important thing to remember is the color of the eyes here; my pic reproduced like crap, but in the live anime the color is very obvious and unusual.

I’m looking forward to how he gets the massive scar, but other than that, sure seems to me that Yuukimaru is the Three Tails host from the manga. I wonder if Akatsuki is about to show up to claim their demon? Looks like somewhere along the line he also gets a hair cut.  But it is filler and therefore we must continue to wait and see…wait and see…zzzzzz….wake me when somehting happens, huh?

Kabuto comes in and scolds Guren for leaving Yuukimaru and in general acts like Big Man in the Clubhouse. It really doesn’t help that he…looks like a bad imprsonation of a crappy Scooby Doo villain reject. All he needs is a teal colored mask with goofy glowing eyes. His sleeves and hem are both too long and…he just looks dumb, ok?

And I plan to get away with it, too...

Anyway, Kabuto takes Guren and Yuukimaru for a ride in a boat. Suits the kid up in that funny hat of mystical drug experimentation and barks at Guren, reminding her that THIS mission might put her back in the running to be Oro’s next…erm…batting glove (well, you come up with a euphemism for his reincarnation jutsu. ish.) Kabuto offers the kid a fistful of pills and…well I’ll let you see…

Now, I ask you, do you think Michael Jackson has anything on Kabuto in this scene? Chilling. Blech. Guren almost stands up to him, but in the end thinks better of protesting and encourages the kid to play along with Kabuto. Sanbi starts to appear.  See you in the comment threads.

In the woods, Team Kurenai fights Guren’s men. Hinata and Kiba get stuck in a smoke screen prepared by Kigiri and Hinata is seriously injured by Nurari’s attacks. Kakashi is stuck battling Gozu, and isn’t able to finish him off because Gozu has the upper hand in speed and force. Just as Rinji and his team are about to kill Hinata, Kiba, and Akamaru, they are forced to retreat by Shino and his insects. Meanwhile, Yūkimaru remembers his mother. 

NS97 – The Labyrinth of Distorted Reflection

In Konoha, Tsunade discovers they have an enemy using Crystal Style. While on his mission with Team Kakashi, Naruto meets Yūkimaru once again and talks to him. Guren puts a gigantic Crystal Prison over the forest trapping Team Kurenai inside. Guren then prepares six Crystal Clones and attacks Team Kurenai with them. Hinata defeats one clone but is locked up in a Crystal Prison by another. Team Kakashi reaches the borders of the giant prison and Naruto uses his new Jutsu with Gamatatsu to bust a way in. 

NS98 – The Target Appears

Team Kakashi arrives to help Team Kurenai and manage to retrieve Hinata. Guren decides to retreat and rendezvous with her men at their base. After Hinata is broken free, Kakashi tells Sakura and Sai to stay with her until she’s better, as the others chase after their enemies. At Guren’s base, Kabuto arrives and takes everyone to the lake from before. He straps Yūkimaru to his machine and Guren creates five Crystal Pillars around them. As the machine amplifies Yūkimaru’s chakra, the Three-Tailed Beast begins to surface. 

I’m really curious with this filler because in the manga, we see the Akatsuki members capturing the Three Tailed Beast in a lake — probably in this same lake.  I wonder what Orochimaru is trying to achieve in this experiment, then.  Because if the Akatsuki will capture this beast in the manga later on, that means that Orochimaru either failed to capture the 3-tails or he didn’t really intend to capture it.

Anyway, the episode continues with Naruto still training with Gamatatsu and Gamakichi.  Guren and Yuukimari have reached their destination.  Naruto also found out about the secret mission through Sai who is unable to lie successfully.  So he demanded Tsunade that he be allowed to join them.  When Tsunade asked him why he should be permitted to join, awww…. it was so sweet.  He told Tsunade that he needs to tell Sasuke that he has a home he could return to.  Also, Jiraiya wrote Tsunade a message about trusting Naruto.  I suppose anime lovers are already being given a preview that Jiraiya is about to die soon enough.  But that’s another story.  Kakashi and the team of Kiba, Shino and Hinata, on the other hand is still on the hunt for the enemy.  Guren has decided that she needs to take care of them.  Before Guren left, Yuukimaru gave her a charm with a red camellia design. Yuukimaru remembers his mother through her. 

Nothing much really happened in this episode.  Since I’m unable to upload videos here, I’m trying another blog and if successful, I’ll post the link here instead in the future.

Anyway, in this episode, Orochimaru wants Guren and Yuukimaru’s power to become one.  For what purpose, we have yet to find out.  So, Kabuto gave orders to Guren to take Yuukimaru with her back to the HQ where those who survived the fight for survival are waiting.  Kakashi and the team of Kiba, Shino and Hinata are still searching for them.  Shino was able to find an insect that will be immuned to Guren’s Crystal Technique.  Naruto is still training with Gamakichi and Gamatatsu,with Konohamaru with them.  Tsunade, on the other hand, called on Yamato to aid Kakashi along with Sai and Sakura and not to let Naruto know the mission has something to do with Orochimaru. 

This is actually a filler arc and not available in the manga.  In the manga, Guren’s character appeared after Sasuke reversed Orochimaru’s jutsu and possessed his soul. Also, right after Naruto defeated Kakuzu in the manga, the story shifts to Sasuke who is unwilling to actually give Orochimaru his body and therefore ends up possessing Orochimaru instead.  I think this particular filler started from episode 91.  There’s actually another one, if I’m not mistaken, episodes 65-69 are also filler arcs.  But I’ll confirm that some other time, probably tomorrow.  Haha!  Let me double check my anime and manga comparisons!
