Et oui c’est ce que je peu déplorer ce matin! Un manque fou de stats niveau visites depuis que les mises à jours de mon blog ce font rares! Pour tout vous dire, enfin peu, je suis en plein permis moto, ouiiiii! J’ai opté pour une formation speed à la sauce ECF, donc depuis le 17 Novembre je planche sur plateau, maîtrise, voyage, mais tout ça c’est du passé, et oui! Parce que j’ai validé mon plateau Lundi!! Je devais passer la circulation aujourd’hui, mais,… Repoussé, le charme des moto école! Donc je vous propose un petit deal, si d’ici la semaine prochaine vous ne voyez plus de mises à jour, c’est que j’aurais loupé mon permis A, GRRRR! Alors j’espère remettre à jour ce blog, qui a fait tant de visites en si peu de temps!

Giusto il tempo di prendere la patente che quel matto di mio fratello oggi mi segnala un video interessantissimo. Il video fa da contorno ad un articolo di un noto blog di motociclismo che io leggo spesso e volentieri. In questo articolo si parla delle “dreams road” di casa nostra cioè strade che durante i week-end si affollano di motociclisti (me comrpeso). Ed è proprio il caso di dire me compreso visto che come prima strada da presentare è stata scelta quella di bocca serriola (e te credo!) che sta a pochi km da Città di Castello (sopra a casa del caro e vecchio Manfu). Percorrendo questa strada si arriva ad un passo che si trova tra le Marche, regione natia di Valentino Rossi, e l’Umbria, precisamente tra la provincia di Pesaro e quella di Perugia. Garantisco personalmente che la strada merita

Ce n’est plus une Versys mais une Z 750 que je chevauche !!

Et oui, après avoir essayé la Z d’un pote, je suis tombé fou amoureux de cette bécane et j’ai pu faire une reprise par mon garagiste  de ma Versys pour me prendre une Z à un bon prix …

… blague à part, je roule toujours en Versys et j’en suis heureux de ma belle . Ce n’est que la moto en prêt de mon garagiste pendant mon premier service des 1000 km. Cela dit c’est une moto magnifique à conduir (piloter devrais-je dire!) , à regarder et à écouter. La sonorité du pot d’échappement d’origine est envoutante. Même si c’est plus creux en bas en comparaison avec ma Versys, passé le cap des 4000 tr/min ça pousse déjà fort, et plus haut dans les tours c’est juste grandiose! Si je roulerai solo, je pense bien que ça aurait pu être ma moto, mais comme je cherchais à rouler aussi en duo pour de longues escapades…

Guardate un po come hanno colorato la Z750 per il 2009? Il colore si chiama Candy Lime Green/Metallic Diablo Black e sarà affiancato dal nuovo Candy Imperial Blue, insieme al precedente Diablo Black.

Finalmente l’ho fatto. Ho trovato la giornata giusta, il tempo giusto, il cielo giusto, l’asfalto giusto e un fotografo che mi scattasse qualche foto. Sono felice di presentarvi la mia fidanzata (da sola e mentre viene domata in curva).

Ieri insieme alla mia fidanZeta ho fatto una strada veramente piena zeppa di curve, molto lenta e panoramica e mi sono divertito un mondo. Ecco alcune foto:

I like things a certain way. Those close to me might tell you that I like them my way, but they’re all on crack anyway, so pay no attention to them. Especially if they ask to borrow money.

I’m not hard to please, specifically, as much as I prefer that things function as advertised. That’s all. Nothing drives me so thoroughly shitting-in-the-water-fountain insane as an item that’s supposed to perform a particular task or work in a particular fashion, but doesn’t. Picture if you will:

A bathroom door that doesn’t completely latch. A toilet tank arm-float-thing that doesn’t shut off the water. An ice maker that won’t. A cat that doesn’t chase and gleefully eviscerate crawling things. A phone that creaks and rattles and in general makes more noise than a busload of crickets.

Since I now possess all five pieces to the Amulet of Eye-Gouging Annoyance +6 as outlined above, I’ve earned the right to gripe, and I suppose that I’ll finally have to admit that I am, as someone dear once told me, a giant fussy prick. (Right again, mom.)

Okay, but only about the things that matter. I can live with the door, and the ice maker, for now. And the toilet tank float. So we flibber the arm a few times, and the water shuts off, big deal. And I can even live with the cat, who is easily as squeamish about Southern insects as I am; where I grew up an earwig was a big deal, here they’ve got bugs bigger than a chicken leg. Seriously. Where I draw the line, though, deeply and emphatically with the toe of my generic, unused running shoe, is at a phone that exhibits more neurotic personality tics than I do.

That’s right. This town ain’t big enough, yadda yadda yadda, and I was here first. So the Sony-Ericsson Z750 is gonna have to skedaddle. Probably. Maybe.

Crap.

It gets better reception than any AT&T handset that I’ve used save the Krzr, and signal strength is at a premium around here. The earpiece quality is second to none. The keypad is large and slick and lends itself well to text messaging, and the screen is vivid and clear. Most of the time. More on that later.

The plastic used in the housing feels flimsy and cheap, and pressing the function buttons above the keypad causes it to creak and moan. Admittedly, this probably would bother only a handful of obsessively neurotic wackjobs around the world, but recall an earlier reference to “giant fussy prick” and comprehend, would you kindly. The external OLED display is useless even in late twilight, as it simply can’t be seen under anything stronger than moderate indoor lighting, and the internal screen, though pretty, automatically grows dimmer under low-light conditions. There’s no way to change this.

Regardless of whether it’s a phone or a meddling politician, I don’t want shit thinking for me. This is the reason I’ve sworn off (okay, mostly sworn off) Samsung and LG; I want a phone and its function to change to serve my needs, not the other way around. If I want to assign the right soft key to opening the Happytime Kool-Aid Bunnyfart folder on my phone, instead of the AT&T MediaNet MoneySink garbage that I’ll never use, so what? What’s the big deal? When the Z750 abandoned some of the more endearing versatility of its older sibling, the W580, in exchange for the less flexible UI design of its peninsular cousins, I balked. Loudly. Like the balkers of yore. Old school.

It’s impossible to turn off the data connection on the Z750. Prolly got somethin’ to do with their high-falutin’ 3G fancypants HSDPAWCDMAUMTS bunk. The center button on the 4-way toggle is assigned to open MediaNet instead of the menu. Again, no way to change it; the button is defiantly emblazoned with the AT&T MediaNet logo, as if daring you to even try to reassign it. It scoffs at your silly, willful individualism. Now go away.

With only one exchange permitted per transaction, I find myself waffling like Mrs. Butterworth over here. A different Z750 could conceivably lack the construction flaws that plagued (mildly infected) the one I bought, but that won’t address the design deficiencies in the UI.

For a mid-range phone, the Z750 is a solid performer with an oddly rigid yet flaky personality and questionable build. Frankly, the damn thing makes me want to speak harshly to an old lady without immediate pause or apology but perhaps with tinges of regret later on which might initially be mistaken for indigestion.

While it looks very much like the mirror finished Z610 that was announced a little over a year ago, the Sony Ericsson Z750 offers a number of improvements that make the device viable to far more people than the original. Take, for example, the Z750’s new quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity. This means the Z750 will work on just about any GSM or UMTS network on the planet, something the tri-band GSM and single-band UMTS Z610 couldn’t claim. There are other changes as well, like the new GPS functionality and integrated Google Maps.

The Z750 we tested for this review is a near-production prototype supplied to us by Sony Ericsson USA. As a prototype, minor problems that we experience in our review tests will quite likely be addressed and fixed before these phones ever make it to the retail consumer. We can’t say with 100% certainty that such issues will be fixed, but the phone itself was overall very stable and performed very nearly like a production handset, and Sony Ericsson has been made aware of any issues we came across.

Physical Aspects

While I have to admit that I wasn’t particularly thrilled to see that our Z750 test unit was pink, I can also admit that the look of the phone has grown on me over the past week or so. Considering that at 98mm x 59mm x 21mm (3.9″ x 2.3″ x .8″) in size and weighing 111g (3.9oz), the Z750 isn’t what you would call small or thin, but it has some nice, simple lines and a distinctive look to it. The mirrored finish on the top half of the folder doesn’t show fingerprints nearly as much as I had feared it would, and I really love the way the small, hidden monochrome display just seems to float on the surface of the phone. The display provides all the information that one typically needs, such as caller ID info and signal and battery status, yet wastes very little power when used.

There are few features on the exterior of the phone apart from the prominent camera. On the left edge of the phone are the volume and music keys. The volume keys perform normally when pressed for a short duration, but also function as previous and next track controls when long-pressed. The dedicated music pause/play button is located nearby. The other edge of the phone is where the Sony M2 memory card slot is found. The loudspeaker is found on the back of the device, and the slightly curved “ice scraper” antenna keeps the speaker from being blocked when the phone sits on a desk. A normal fast port power/data connector is located on the bottom of the device. The hinge, while spring loaded, is somewhat odd in that it will ensure that the phone snaps fully opened or closed, yet allows the phone to be positioned freely somewhere in the middle as well. This is good for improving readability while it sits upon a desk.

The Sony Ericsson Z750 is a bit more conventional looking once it has been opened. It has a reasonably large color display, and a very spacious keypad and control cluster. The display is of only average brightness, but it is exceptionally crisp and colorful. The pixels on it are so tightly spaced as to make it almost look like paper at times. The keypad has an outstanding layout and feel, the best I have come across in a while. The d-pad works well and offers good action, but has a nail file like feel to it that I found somewhat annoying. The twin chrome softkeys are a bit small but are very easy to find and use. The call buttons are clones of the softkeys, and sit above dedicated web, clear, and shortcut menu buttons. Beneath the keypad sits the power key. It is interesting to note that Sony Ericsson seems to have abandoned its normal control cluster layout and no longer offers a dedicated back key, while using conventional red and green call buttons.

My only real complaints regarding the Z750’s physical design are fairly minor. The backlighting on the keypad is somewhat uneven, though the d-pad and controls are well-lit. And while the body pieces of the Z750 seem to fit together with fairly tight tolerances, the device as a whole feels a bit hollow and a tad less sturdy than some other high-end clamshells on the market.
