The Ghost Adventures crew investigated the old Remington Arms factory in Bridgeport, Connecticut. It was a very active place, but I’ve about had it with Zak’s theatrics and his repetitive term of “evil spirits” and “demonic spirits” every damn place he goes.

He kept on with the “evil spirits” crap throughout the investigation in the factory that has seen its share of tragedies like an explosion in 1942, that killed seven workers (mostly women) and injured another 80. Many of the EVP’s they caught were of women, and others may be related to a couple of men who had been horrifically killed falling into a smelter.

How and why on earth would he ever want to even remotely suggest that any of these poor unfortunate souls were or are evil? Even when he is referring to a moving dark mass or shadow people, why does he think they are always evil? My experience suggests this isn’t the case at all. It’s just another way some entities manifest.

Oh I know that talking excitedly about “evil spirits” and “demons” appeals to younger and uninitiated viewers and may even boost ratings, but doesn’t Zak feel any sense that he’s compromising his integrity?

During the show there was nothing in their evidence that suggested an evil spirit at all – only some poor people whose lives were ended suddenly and violently.

There was one EVP of a woman asking for help, but as it is will all these paranormal shows, such pleas are always ignored and simply seen as a “cool EVP”.

How much longer are paranormal investigators just going to go around, collect evidence and declare a place haunted – instead of looking for ways to help those that so often ask for it?

Rather than heading straight to the office for my regular segment this morning, I left bright and early to COEX for another one of their fabulous exhibitions (you can expect Dessert and Café shows to follow next week) to host on-site.

I’ll try not to get ahead of myself but hands down, this event is a Foodies paradise. First let’s start off with my favorite, the free take-homes! Looking through my bag of goodies, I not only have a smorgasbord of pamphlets, brochures and booklets, but I took a handful of bite size marshmallow candies, a mini container of ‘Sweet Skin Care Sugar,’ mochi rice cakes from Japan, a ‘Laughing Cow’ cheese souvenir, ‘Ronnefeldt’ tea bags, a 500 gram bag of ‘Super O’ning’ rice, Shinan ‘Solar’ sea salt, a 30,000won gift certificate for ITGO, domestic red cactus juice and whatever else I am too lazy at the moment to dig through.

Many of the products you could also purchase for up to 50% off so make sure to bring enough cash. Let me give you an example, you know the brand, ‘ZAK!’? These unique pieces of dinnerware founded by Irv Zakheim are currently sold in Kosney stores of Korea. I remember looking to purchase a set of plates for a friend’s birthday once and let’s just say I almost swallowed my own tongue! These items usually price at triple what you’d expect at supermarkets, around 8,000 to 20,000won and a limited stock of these products are being sold at this exhibit for 30-40% off…a great way to save on holiday gifts.

I try to prevent myself from actually buying anything but of course, I once again failed. Being selective and ruthless with exhibitors, I was however able to weasel some great bargains and even managed to get a 40,000 skin care set for free!  So except for some cash, make sure to come empty handed.

While walking through the endless rows in 2 separate halls (one for domestic products, the other for international, etc) staff members generously provided samples of companies looking to export or populate their products in Korea. Alcohol being one of the major focuses, you can stroll from booth to booth while sipping red/white wine by Grand Coteau, Myanmar’s lager and double strong beer, endless cups of sake from Japan’s corner and of course Korea’s staples soju and makgeoli from all ends.

Other samples that I really enjoyed, such as seafood crackers by Pekatan, Na Na Food’s dried fruit chips, and hangwa (traditional cookies), I made sure to ask questions about purchasing methods. Although most do bulk orders, they all relayed the hope of one day making their products a staple in our country’s supermarkets. And it wouldn’t surprise me if some of the products began to pop-up within the next few years…an interesting and prospective thought for the still ‘struggling’ range of varieties currently available in Korea

het weekend zit er weer op.. we beginnen nu af te tellen naar komende zaterdag.. want dan is er de Grote Intocht… ik ben toch alle jaren weer wat zenuwachtig in die laatste week.. er moet nog zoveel gedaan worden.. krijgt de StoomBoot geen problemen..  en wat als we te laat aankomen..? maar ik ga er dit jaar niet teveel aan denken.. we gaan er maar vanuit dat er niets meer fout loopt..

Het is ook een goed jaar geweest ook.. geen problemen met de chocolademachine’s.. ook niet met de pepernotenfabriek.. de testafdeling van het speelgoed heeft niet één opmerking gemaakt en belangrijk.. de mandarijntjes zijn net goed van smaak..

Zo Rakkers van me ik ga het hier bij laten en jullie lezen me waarschijnlijk woensdag weer.. want ik heb van Uwe Gekribbelde Memoblaadje doorgekregen dat hij morgen zelf nog eens iets zou willen neertypen.. en het is per slot van rekening zijn blog.. en hij heeft nogal een koppig karaktertje.. maar dat heb ik niet gezegd.

Neben den Neuigkeiten aus dem Genre Fernsehen, wie der 95.000-Euro-Strafe für den Call-In-Sender 9Live und die nun doch ausgestrahlte „Zimmer frei“-Folge mit Martin Sonneborn, geht es heute um das große Thema „Zuschauer sein“. Wie ist die Atmosphäre bei einer Fernsehaufzeichnung? Die KüHe berichten am Beispiel „Harald Schmidt“ und betreiben gleichzeitig eine Nachlese zur vergangenen Ausgabe.

Obgleich der Film-Block diese Woche etwas kürzer ausfällt, weiß Herr Körber über „Burn After Reading“ zu referieren, der – zugegeben – nicht auf der regulären Liste der Filmschule zu finden war. Wieso, warum und vor allen Dingen weshalb es dazu kam, erklären die beiden in der Folge.

Weitere Themen: Wir haben erneut den „KuH der Woche“ gekürt, der uns dieses Mal in die Vergangenheit führt. Außerdem feiert der KuH-Tipp den TV-Herbst mit den vierten Staffeln von „Stromberg“ und „Pastewka“. Einen Vorgeschmack auf die beiden Serien gibt es in der KuH. Und: Erste Einsendungen von schlimmen Radio-Claims, denn die Suche nach den schrecklichsten Slogans geht weiter. Natürlich darf auch der Titelschmutz in dieser Folge nicht fehlen.

What a busy day we’ve had today, what with our new suite being delivered and our old one taken away, and yet my incredible wife Gillian still found time to let Gracie try out her computing skills. Between the two of them they managed to surf their way to the ‘cbeebies‘ website and found the ‘Something Special’ page.

The cbeebies site is great for  kids it keeps them amused for ages. Here’s Gracie singing that old favourite, "Old MacDonald’s Farm". The backing vocals are performed by our two budgies, ‘Coochie’ and ‘Coco’.

Filozoficky a přírodovědně školený Bohuslav Brouk vytáhl do boje za „racionalizaci spotřeby“. Navazuje tak na myšlenky Adolfa Loose, „bojovníka proti ornamentu, kýči a maloměšťáctví“ (Honzík, Z tvorby životního slohu, 1965: 8–9). Kritizuje „pošetilé lpění na věcech neboli takzvanou chrematofilii“ (Brouk, Racionalisace spotřeby, 1946: 7)(2) a vytváří teorii a klasifikaci „krámů“. Pro jeho přístup i pro postoj jeho druhů z avantgardy je typické, že hledá realizaci svého programu v institucionálních cestách – ve školení projektantů, ve „chrematologických výzkumných ústavech“, v registračních úřadech a v „převýchově lidstva“.

1	Een voorbeeld van de grootte van de paspels. Boven- en onderpaspel zijn even hoog.
2	Verstevig de plek waar de zak komt (op de verkeerde kant van de stof.) Knip de versteviging 5 cm breed en 4 cm langer dan de lengte van de zakingang.
3	Teken de lijnen voor de zak op de versteviging met behulp van een geodriehoek. Teken de driehoek op de uiteinden 1,5 cm naar binnen toe (2 cm voor dikke stoffen) Rijg de middenlijn
	TIP: geef het middel aan van de doorslag, dus 7,5 cm zowel op doorslag lijn als op paspels
4	Knip de onderdelen voor de zak: - paspels schuin van draad: 6 cm hoog en 4 cm breder dan de zakingang - zakdelen van de gewenste lengte, ook 4 cm breder dan zakingang
5	leg de paspel enkel aan de GOEDE kant (goed op goed) tegen de rijgdraad aan. Spelden met veel spelden overdwars, spitse punten liggen bij de rijgdraad)

11	Sla de paspel om naar binnen, vouw om, de zijkanten (driehoekjes) dus ook.
12	Controleer de breedte en speld de paspel vast in de stiklijn
13	Stik de paspel vast in de stiklijn
14	Doe hetzelfde voor de bovenste paspel, maar stik die nog niet vast
15	Rijg de paspels eventueel met een schuine steek tegen elkaar aan, dat houdt ze goed bij elkaar tijdens het verdere werken.
16	Zakdeel op de onderste paspel stikken (aan de binnenkant) op 1 cm, openstrijken en apart locken. TIP: geef vantevoren 2 cm vanuit het paspel midden een horizontale lijn, waar je de zak tegenaan legt.
17	Leg het zakdeel dat tegen de bovenpaspel moet komen 1 cm boven de spelden in de naadlijn en zet die met een paar spelden vast (aan verkeerde kant van de stof)
18	Draai de stof om, en speld de paspel opnieuw vast, nu met de bovenzak erbij. Stik vanaf de goede kant in de stiklijn van de bovenpaspel. Openstrijken en apart locken. Tip: speld de onderzak even vast, zodat die niet dubbel eronder kan zitten.
	Belangrijk: Stiksels van boven en onderpaspelmoeten even lang zijn

Nachdem mit der Einführung der neuen Gewinnspielregeln endlich die Möglichkeit besteht, Bußgelder zu verhängen, ist es nun soweit.

Wie DWDL.de und Welt.de letzte Woche berichteten, hat die ZAK Ernst gemacht, und tatsächlich entsprechende Bußgelder ausgesprochen.

Laut DWDL.de trifft es neben Sat.1 mit 40.000€ auch Das Vierte mit 12.000€. Selbst 9Live erwarten einige Ordnungswidrigkeitsverfahren, an deren Ende als Ergebnis offenbar Geldbußen stehen sollen.

Eine genaue Aufzählung der einzelnen Verstöße lässt sich dem mehrseitigen DWDL Artikel entnehmen.

Grob gesagt geht es um irreführende Aussagen bzgl. der Schwierigkeitsgrade einzelner Spiele, der Anzahl an geschalteten Leitungen, möglicher suggerierter Lösungen und dem immer wieder gern vorgespielten Zeitdruck. Alles alte Bekannte.

Freudig zur Kenntnis genommen habe ich, dass Das Vierte mit dem Relaunch offenbar plant, seine Gewinnspiel TV Shows einzustellen. Das wäre nach CallActive der nächste Sieg für den Zuschauer.

Wie nicht anders zu erwarten, plant ProSiebenSat1 gegen die Bescheide beim Verwaltungsgericht Einspruch einlegen. Die Bußgelder sind also noch nicht in trockenen Tüchern.

Darüber hinaus wird die Rechtmäßigkeit der Bußgelder bestritten, weil die Gewinnspielsatzung auf der sie beruhen, nach Auffassung von ProSiebenSat1 rechtswidrig ist und deswegen im Moment vom Bayerischen Verwaltungsgerichtshof überprüft wird.

Ich bin ja mal gespannt, wer hier am Ende als Sieger aus dem Ring gehen wird.

Yesterday the Scottish Government decided to release the man convicted of involvement in the "Lockerbie Bombing", Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahid on compassionate grounds. I rememember too well the night of 21 December 1988 when the news flash came on the TV screen that a plane had crashed into the village of Lockerbie. The picture in the paper of the cockpit of Pan Am Flight 103 will forever be etched in my mind. Gracie’s mum was only 9 months old at the time, and as I read the news paper and looked at the map that showed the route the flight was taking I realised that the flight path would have taken it over my home town. If the bomb had exploded a few minutes later then I might have been a victim. The thought really shook me.

I, and many other’s, including some of the victim’s families am not entirely convinced of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahid’s guilt but whether you think he was guilty or not I think It was right to show mercy and compassion to someone who has spent nine years in prison and who is now dying. The  Bible does not say, "Do to others what they’ve done to you" that’s not justice, that’s vengence. It says, "Do to others what you would want them to do to you.". Jesus said "Blessed are the merciful for they will receive mercy"

Many people think he should not have been released, that he didn’t deserve mercy but then nobody deserves mercy. Mercy is not getting what you  deserve, it’s getting what you don’t deserve. That’s why it’s mercy.

I will leave you with the words of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahid, these words are from a man who has been released and will soon be dead, what reason has he to lie. These do not sound to me like the words of someone who’s just got away with murder.

 "Many people, including the relatives of those who died in and over Lockerbie are, I know, upset that my appeal has come to an end; that nothing more can be done about the circumstances surrounding the Lockerbie bombing.

"I share their frustration. I had most to gain and nothing to lose about the whole truth coming out – until my diagnosis of cancer.

"To those victims’ relatives who can bear to hear me say this: they continue to have my sincere sympathy for the unimaginable loss that they have suffered.

"To those who bear me ill will, I do not return that to you."

Megrahi had served almost eight years of a 27-year sentence for the bombing.

His statement continued: "I cannot find words in my language or yours that give proper expression to the desolation I have felt.

"This horrible ordeal is not ended by my return to Libya.

"It may never end for me until I die. Perhaps the only liberation for me will be death.

"And I say in the clearest possible terms, which I hope every person in every land will hear: all of this I have had to endure for something that I did not do.

"The remaining days of my life are being lived under the shadow of the wrongness of my conviction. I have been faced with an appalling choice: to risk dying in prison in the hope that my name is cleared posthumously or to return home still carrying the weight of the guilty verdict, which will never now be lifted.

"The choice which I made is a matter of sorrow, disappointment and anger, which I fear I will never overcome. I say goodbye to Scotland and shall not return. My time here has been very unhappy and I do not leave a piece of myself.

"But to the country’s people I offer my gratitude and best wishes."

Tout juste 15 ans! Zak Laughed est né  près de Clermont Ferrand. Il chante en anglais d’une voix cristalline. Son répertoire est très proche des Beatles et de Jonathan Richman et  il joue de la guitare comme Johnny Cash.

Repéré  par le label Rough Trade pour ses interprétations de Dylan, de Eels et des Strokes, Zak est en passe de devenir une future star du rock.

Son premier album, The last memories of my old house sera dans les bacs courant septembre. Souhaitons lui une belle réussite.

Aki a Mindenható Isten segítségét, áldását, jótéteméneit élvezi nincs mitől féljen.
