It doesn’t get any easier. Download App. Click Scan. Viruses Gone. Computer Fast. <3

Dubbing itself “The Ultimate Popup Blocker” is rather insulting I think. It does so much more than that.

So, I have Spyware on my computer, and it usually detects 30 to 40 viruses weekly, which seems like rather a lot to me. Recently, however, for some stupid, long-to-get-to reason, I did, in fact, download HotBar. I’m not sure how many of you are familiar with this parasite, but it is an abomination, catastrophy, demon, or any other word you want to use for Hell-hole-pain-in-the-ass. Now, don’t get my wrong. HotBar didn’t sizzle my computer into steam and goo, but it DID continue to piss me off, incessantly poping up, if not once per page then once per second after a long time of poking around on the internet I realized that the solutions availble were to either A) do it manually, and that was for supercyper hacker extraordinares only, OR B) download a device to remove the product. Unfortunately, I didn’t really trust any of the downloads available or they didn’t work.

After a lot of hair pulling and nail biting, however I did stumble across a miracle.

STOPzilla. … Wow.

Now keep in mind, I have Spyware and Anti-virus and, what I thought, were pretty much all the bells and whistles. Stopzilla, however, is different. First of all, it’s NOT free, like a lot of the other downloads that seem to be availble. It DOES work though, unlike the other ones.

But here’s why it gets my Nod of the Day:

First of all, it detected, not the usual 30 or 40 threats, but 600! And it fixed them all.

Second of all, it DID rid my computer of HotBar. Rather quickly too. And anything else I never knew I didn’t want on here.

Third, it doesn’t detect like your normal Spyware or Anti-virus protect. Even if you have those, I can guarantee Stopzilla is a huge upgrade. It protects your computer with the protection of BOTH of those combined, but it let’s you keep your internet more private and safe, while protecting your computer from ADWARE (which is just as bad as Spyware).

Fourth? Well, if the first three weren’t enough, this product isn’t free but it’s cheap. Stopzilla is free to download and run, allowing you to scan your computer and see the threats for free BEFORE you choose to buy the solution. For $10, you can move on to the next step, which is cleaning out all, and I mean all, threats from your computer. And that ten bucks lasts you the duration of one whole year, unless you rather get a lifetime supply for just 40 bucks. Either way, it’s a great deal. Plus they give you a 30 day money-back guarantee, so there’s really nothing to lose.

I’m happy to say, my computer is back on track now, and running faster than it was before. That’s probably because STOPzilla got rid of, not only HotBar and Zango (yuck), but a bunch of threatening infections that I never knew my laptop had before. Who knew a complete computer miracle was available for just $9.95?!

A+

Check out STOPzilla’s numerous computer fix-it devices!

NIREN TOLSI – Sep 14 2009 06:00 – Mail & Guardian

‘They came like cabrito [goats], like animals in the middle of the night; the police and the army, breaking down our doors and telling us to move,’ says Angelina Conceicao, recalling her forced removal from Luanda’s Ilha de Luanda.
Angelina (not her real name) is standing outside the tent she shares with another family, surrounded by her five young children — most of them as naked and dusty as this spot outside Luanda where security forces dumped them four months ago.

There is no electricity, running water, rubbish collection or sewerage system in this temporary government camp, Zango I. The tents, says another resident, Maria Esperanza (not her real name), only arrived after her family and 1 000 others had spent a month on the side of road.

“We were left in the open air, with whatever possessions we had getting destroyed by the rain,” says Esperanza. “Later the government started distributing tents, but when they saw we had nothing they started selling them to us. The first day it was $100, but they soon lowered the price — we paid $10.”

This is an increasingly common story in Luanda, a city that, although initially built for 500 000, now houses close to five million people because of the urban migration induced by the 27 years of civil war, according to anti-evictions NGO SOS Habitat.

Sociologist Allan Cain says 75% of Luanda’s population live in the musseques (peri-urban slums), and “80% of those residents have no clear legal title to the land they occupy”.

With petro-dollars fuelling Luanda’s reconstruction and the wealthier classes scrambling for prime property, the city’s poor have suffered.

The government is “cleaning up” Luanda’s sprawling musseques to meet President Jose Eduardo dos Santos’s promise to build a million
new homes by 2012.

But the developmental model is apparently based on evicting entire communities — mainly illegally, and by force, to the isolated Zango camps I, II and III.

Human Rights Watch and SOS Habitat claim that between 2002 and 2006 the state conducted at least 18 mass evictions “involving violence and excessive use of force”.

The 2007 report to the United Nations details some of these abuses:

Between November 2005 and March 2006, police and private developers demolished homes in the Luanda suburbs of Cambamba I, II, Banga We and Bairro 28 De Agosto to make way for the upmarket Nova Vida residential development. The report says the land earmarked for development “was allocated without due legal process, without consulting the affected community and without any effort to provide compensation or adequate alternative housing to those unable to provide for themselves”.

Between June 2004 and November 2005, 2 000 families were forcibly evicted from the Kilamba Kiaxi municipality on the outskirts of Luanda and according to the report, “police beat and arrested several residents and activists”.

In a June 2004 eviction, police “shot and wounded three residents”. The UN says the homes were demolished “without reasonable notice”.

Two weeks before the Mail & Guardian’s visit to Zango, about 3 000 families from the Kilamba Kiaxi musseques, nicknamed Baghdad and Iraq, were evicted to Zango, again at dead of night.

SOS Habitat director Luiz Araujo said the government’s strategy was to “separate the poor and the elite”, especially in Luanda’s many mixed-class areas.

Angelina and Maria, for example, were removed four months ago from the Ilha de Luanda, the strip of land separating Luanda’s harbour from the ocean.

A mixture of decrepit fishermen’s shacks, swanky bars and new hotels, it is a prime location. Chinese companies are driving Angola’s infrastructure development.

Martyn Davies, executive director of the Centre for Chinese Studies (CCS) at Stellenbosch University, estimates that 35 Chinese construction companies are helping to build roads, bridges, skyscraping casino-hotel complexes and low-income housing projects in exchange for more than 30% of Angola’s crude oil exports.

The China International Trust and Investment Corporation is partnering the Angolan government on the $3.5- billion Kilamba Kiaxi housing project, which will accommodate about 200 000 people and include business units and schools.

About 10 000 Chinese workers are on site, says a recent CCS report. China has a “non-interference” policy in Africa. Trade with Angola amounted to $25.3-billion last year.

The 150 South African business people who accompanied President Jacob Zuma on his state visit to Angola clearly want a slice of the action. South Africa’s trade and industry department acknowledged that inter-governmental agreements would facilitate South African companies “being part of Dos Santos’s project to roll out a million houses in Angola”.

Watch out for your MLM upline! They can get you good if you are not careful! You need to make sure t

Watch out for your MLM upline! They can get you good if you are not careful!

You need to make sure that you know who your upline is. A short time ago I spoke with a lady on a 3-way phone call.

She was the first woman in this network marketing company who built so quickly that she went to the top of that companies pay plan in 4 months.

Her upline was the envious and jealous type but she didn’t care. Part of her network marketing strategy was NOT to read the company Policies & Procedures manual and that was a bad, bad combination.

Before you ever think about joining any company you MUST thoroughly read the Policies & Procedures they provide you. Before this lady started to build in the program, she did tell the company that her fiancée was promoting another MLM company.

Guess what? Her company’s Policies & Procedures stated that you cannot make any money from another network marketing company – not even an affiliate program! If you violate this provision of the P&P, you can be terminated immediately.

And these restrictions apply to everyone living in YOUR household! Are they serious?!? To me, that sounds like you’re an employee not independent. If you’re an MLM independent contractor, how can they put those kinds of restrictions on you?

Anyway, back to this lady who built to the top of the pay plan. She was rocking and rolling getting new people and having a great time. Everything was just fine. She had a $7,000 bonus check coming for reaching the top of the pay plan! She was the first woman to ever do it and all of a sudden her website is turned off. Everything is shut down. The company didn’t even send her a letter.

Bad News from the Upline!

Her upline called and told her she was terminated because her fiancée was in another MLM program. She had already told the company they were not married and that he was in another program. It had nothing to do with her or her network marketing strategy, but because they lived in the same household, the company used that lever to get her out of the line of compensation. Guess where the people went?

The company views 2 people living in the same household as if the two people are the same. And they can do that because it’s in the Policies & Procedures. Isn’t that amazing?
What are the chances the company would ever find out about this if not for the jealous upline? Because this lady just got terminated, her sponsor inherits her entire organization. It all rolls up to the upline who wasn’t doing as well. Easy pickens.

The Upline could not build it themselves and now they do not have to!
I know of a great number of network marketers who have lost everything they built, because they never read their Policies & Procedures manual. Go to your company website right now, download and read your P & Ps. You may be quite astonished at what you find in the fine print.

FACT: When you joined your company, you checked a little box off stating that you agreed to abide by each of the rules in that P & Ps. But I’ll bet you never actually read them!

This reminds me of a GOTCHA that a lot of network marketing reps fall into. They think, “Everybody I know is violating this rule. The company does not care about that one.”

Believe me, you can violate any rule you want, just as long as you’re not making any big money. But once you start to build a significant income and start making the higher bonus payouts THAT is when it’s worthwhile for your upline – or your company itself – to terminate you for violation of your Policies & Procedures.

What’s in there that YOU don’t know about? Did your upline even tell you to read them? Bet they didn’t! Go find them and read them. Now! Be ready for an eye opener!Look for words like continuous productivity, or ongoing activity, those mean you can NEVER stop recruiting people!

Your plan was to build it and go sit on the beach right? Not so fast! The P&P states you must have ongoing participation or some other fancy term that means if you stop recruiting so does your check!I am dead serious. GO READ IT NOW! If you want to learn how to avoid this in the future then pick up a copy my free eBook. Success in 10 steps. It will help you answer a lot of questions and pick the best company for you.

Things change over time. It may not always be this way. But it definitely is true now. M-L-Mers are frustrated, and they want answers now. Use that knowledge when you advert1se to them and when you talk with them.

To build your own big income in M-L-M, the people you sponsor will need a constant stream of hot prospects. I can help you do that for them, and for yourself. First step is to download the free ebook Success in 10 Steps. Read it and I gurantee you the lights will go on!

Zango sued Kaspersky Lab to force the company to reclassify Zango’s programs as nonthreatening and to prevent Kaspersky Lab’s security software from blocking Zango’s potentially undesirable programs.
The U.S. Court of Appeals has ruled that security software maker Kaspersky Labs had the right to lab

The U.S. Court of Appeals has ruled that security software maker Kaspersky Labs had the right to label adware from Zango as malware and help PC users identify it and remove it. The ruling ends a legal battle that had been going on since 2007–part of a campaign by Zango to get off of security software’s enemies lists through lawsuits and cease-and-desist letters.

For Zango, Kaspersky’s victory is moot–the adware company closed its doors earlier this year. For consumers, it’s good news: It’s a legal precedent that supports the notion that PC users have have the right to control what’s on their computers, and to use software that assists them in doing so.

Zango’s founders would and did argue that there was nothing mal about their wares. But even if Zango had cleaned up its act before it folded, the company was the result of the merger of 180Solutions and Hotbar, two companies whose applications wound up on a lot of PCs without their owners’ knowledge or permission earlier this decade. Including mine. Zango execs kept acknowledging past sins, blaming third parties such as rogue affiliates, and bragging about the company’s current policies, but when I tried Zango after its launch it failed to live up to its allegedly consumer-friendly policies on multiple fronts. And anti-adware crusader Ben Edelman played hectoring Jiminy Cricket to Zango’s Pinocchio for years, documenting what he said were questionable tactics even after the company had supposedly decided to be good.

In this revealing blog post, Zango CTO Ken Smith acknowledges that Zango’s bad rep helped seal the company’s fate. I hope other companies consider it a cautionary tale: Consumers (and large advertisers) have memories like elephants, and you simply can’t take actions that make their lives miserable, then proclaim that you’ve changed your ways and expect the world to welcome you as a solid citizen.

Sunbelt recently posted a blog about the latest development in the legal battle between Kaspersky an

Sunbelt recently posted a blog about the latest development in the legal battle between Kaspersky antivirus and Zango (an ad-supported software provider that closed its doors this spring). Here’s a brief summary of the decision:

We are now pleased to report that the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld that original decision, affirming that Kaspersky enjoys “good Samaritan” protection afforded by the CDA. In the court’s own words, a provider of “access tools that filter, screen, allow, or disallow content that the provider or users considers obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, excessively violent, harassing, or otherwise objectionable is protected from liability [by the CDA] for any action taken to make available to others the technical means to restrict access to that material.” For the Court’s full opinion, see the PDF file (here), which also includes an interesting concurring opinion from one of the panel’s three judges.

As someone who worked for an anti-malware vendor, this decision thrills me. One could argue that this sets a potentially frightening precedent, but there are natural, built-in checks and balances against this. Simply put: Detections are ultimately vetted by humans.

Dozens of times a day, virus analysts are asked to determine whether a given piece of code should be added to detection. As a virus analyst, I’d go through a series of steps to determine the content of a file. To be brutally blunt, the mental check-list in my head was motivated by a single question – which will cause me more eventual pain, adding this file or not adding this file.

Customers and vendors both figure very highly into this question. By not adding this file, is it likely that I’ll later get a dozen other customers writing in later with descriptions of pain and woe caused by running this file? Ugh, that would make me feel horrible, plus I’ll have 12 more emails to answer. Or conversely, by adding this file will I get a description of pain and woe from the software maker who’s lost business because of a detection? That’d also be really awful. So I’d better do everything in my power not to cause that pain.

I remember when trojans first came on the scene. We were called “anti-virus” software back then, so it took a certain amount of pressure from users to convince us to broaden our categories to include trojans. This happened again when adware became a real problem – we were anti-malware software, and this was not clearly malicious in its intent!

The anti-malware industry has come a very long way in the last 10 or so years. It’s because of this evolution that security software has changed so that there are a lot more options for the user who wants a lot more power to make these decisions for themselves. We understand now how much the nature of the beast can change, and how much specific needs vary from one company to the next.

Zango, the company that became a byword for spyware and drive-by software downloads, has finally shut its doors with assets being sold to pay creditors. Known for several years as 180solutions, the company was named and shamed by the FTC who finally won a settlement soon after the company had adopted the name Zango. Its reputation sullied, the company found itself blocked by spyware filters and anti-spam products and, with restricted distribution, was never able to recover.

As some of you may have noticed Zango is a company which blocks access to certain sites which require their software to be installed. I’m sure the software is probably safe but I just don’t want to clog up my PC with rubbish. I found a work around after trying to gain access to a site as I noticed Java running. This gave me an idea.

I turned off all the Java pluggins and I could access the site without installing the software. After gaining access you can turn Java back on. This was the case in Firefox. The way to do it is tools-options-content and then untick Java & Java script. I then researched this and found that people did not have this problem with Safari or Google Chrome as it uses a different engine.

Hope this is useful
