Según comenta Zibri en su pagina web ya existe una nueva versión de ZiPhone (desde cuando lleva diciendo lo mismo?), comenta que será muy sencillo, más que anteriores programas suyos, pero esta versión aun se esta testeando y únicamente ha sido probada con la versión de firmware 2.0.1. (claro, claro…)

Dice Zibri que no hace falta apresurarse (una cosa es apresurarse y otra quedarse dormido). También dice que acaba de encontrar una vulnerabilidad en el iPhone/iPodtouch y que la está investigando, dice que afecta a todos los modelos de iPhone/iPodTouch y a todos los firmwares, pero esto va mas allá y asegura que este error es tan grabe que aún no sabe que hacer con el y a dejado un mensaje a apple diciéndo que si estan interesados, que se pongan en contacto con él y sino que lo hará publico.

Si en el mundo de usuarios del iPhone hace tiempo que perdio toda credibilidad, no me imagino el caso que le harán los Cupertino.

No os resulta curioso que siempre tiene algo listo (que nunca dice que es), mucho mejor que lo anterior, pero justo para el firmware anterior y por eso no lo publica?

Ladies and gentlemen, our friends over at the Russian iPhone (RiP) Dev-Team have been busily working on the latest version of the ever-famous Installer.app. First introduced as an Application to download and install third-party Apps, the new version of Installer is making a comeback with a nicer and sleeker interface. I have mentioned before (in another post of mine) that the Cydia interface was much more sleeker and intuitive as compared to the earlier version of Installer. People, I take back what I have said.

The new version of Installer seems have taken a leaf out of Cydia’s and the Apple App Store’s books. The overall appearance is similar to the App Store. The color scheme and the way that the application is laid out is extremely similar. The difference is in how the Download Page is presented. The page is similar to previous versions of Installer, however, it now features reflections of the Application’s icon and on the whole, it just feels sleek. It amazing that the RiP Dev-Team pulled this off in such a short time. A whole revamp of the Installer.app. Congratulations!

Well folks, there you have it. The highly anticipated Installer 4.0! I am not sure about the method of distribution but here are my guesses:

Scenario 1

The Installer will be distributed via the Cydia Packager application. The application would be available as soon as the Dev-Team releases it.

Scenario 2

Installer fans who want to get their hands on the application would have to first, Pwn their iPhones / iPod Touch, and then proceed to get the OpenSSH tool. They would then download the Application via thier computers and place the application into their device via SSH.

Scenario 3

As cited earlier, Zibri is working hard to bring a new version of ZiPhone to the masses. This new version may come with Installer 4 prepackaged. The application, if included, will be installed onto the device during the Jailbreak.

Recently, on Hackint0sh.org blog site, there has been a heated discussion regarding Zibri, one of early hacker member who released Ziphone software. It seemed to me that everyone hated his “stealing” of code from the community. In otherwords, Zibri took the code available to him, and created his own software “Ziphone”. Now, normally, this would not be a problem, since it is an open source community, but the way he went about was the cause of heated discussion.

So, I began thinking about the “Hacking Ethics”. Just like any other community, hacking community have many devoted members, who works for nothing but a credit in the end. A small write up of credit section mentioning their name for the effort, would satisfy anyone of those devoted hackers. The issue gets complicated when there is a split in the group.

How does one keep track of whos contribution resulted in what hacking method? When everyone is banging ideas, left and right, where does the “source” of method become recognized? Anyone who has participated in many  software developement group sessions can attest impossibility of keeping track of ideas. Sometimes, it comes in staircase forms, where no progress is made for a long time and suddenly, a fresh flow of ideas pour in. Under those conditions, how do we keep track of origin of ideas?

When an open source group is split into two groups, for whatever the underlying reason might be, how can we call one group a “thief” and another a owner? With millions of open source projects on line, is this a things to come? Are we headed for an ending feud and litigation era? Legally, I believe they both have rights. As long as they indicate the contribution of entire group members, anyone should be allowed to modify and release software. But, that’s not what we see with Zibri today.

Putting his personal charms aside, Zibri did take code available to him, modified and released under Ziphone label. Ethically speaking, he did this on his own, without an approval of the group. And this is where my question of ethics comes in. We all know  it was a wrong thing for him to do. But, was he bound by the ethics, when, in fact, the sole purpose of the group was “Hacking” of the iPhone? Is there honour among thieves? Is this far fetched?

Of course I know my right from wrong. I know there is an ethical way to behave in hacking community. But, lets suppose that, Zibri and the group both had a solution to unlocking they were sweating over. If Zibri’s plea for the release of the method was ignored ( I am still supposing it ), is it wrong for him to do it on his own? Let’s say that the group felt the method needed more testing. If Zibri felt that it was ready, was it unethical for him to release it? We see half baked software everyday. ( The flip side of this is a rock solid software in perpetual beta – Gmail )

I guess I would never know the true story of ZiPhone, but I think it is important that someone keeps track of these events, for the history, if nothing else.

Oggi impazzano su tutti i blog dedicati discussioni sul fatto che in alcuni brevetti della Aplle sia presente il GPS, Zibri sul suo blog, prima dice di no poi dopo e-mail di altri utenti che lo hanno visto nei brevetti dice che forse lo avrà, io per ora mi ero rifiutato di srcivere dell’ennesimo rumors, ma poi mi sono molto infastidito nel leggere i soliti commenti: mms e a che servono, videochiamata, mai usata, gps e che ci devo fare, umts solo per i pecoroni italiani ecc., BASTA!

Il GPS integrato e’ una figata pazzesca se ovviamente supportato da un programma di navigazione decente, ti evita di portarti dietro altri pesi batteri e cavi e in emergeza è geniale!

L’UMTS Strautile nella sua veloce implementazione HDSPA 7.2 mbs come avere una ADSL in tasca, ovunque!

Gli MMS mai avuta una ragazza lontana? Mai avuti bambini? Nipoti? Parenti?

Fotocamera da 5 mpx con flash e Autofocus? perche’ Voi vi portate sempre dietro la reflex? Ottima e utilissima!

La Radio FM strautile in scooter, se non uso il gps, arriva un achiamata si azzittisce, parlo attacco e ho di nuovo la musica il tutto con comandi vocali o con un dito sotto il collo (n95)!

Ora se il nuovo iPhone non li avrà poco male c’e’ Nokia, Samsung, LG, HTC, ecc., ma da qui a dire che non servono c’e’ un abisso!!

Percio’ basta dire che sono cose inutili se non ce le ha l’iPhone !

La mela morsicata fa ottimi S.O. e harware stiloso e figo, ma non ha mai prodotto tecnologia superiore e non credo che il trend si inverta, non e’ facile sviluppare un prodotto cosi’ all’avanguardia delle tecnologia come un HTC o un Nokia N95(usicto piu’ di un anno fa) da zero ci vogliono anni, soldi e sviluppo e Apple fra 4 o 5 anni avra’ magari appianato il gap ma per ora è così bello figo ma e’ un iPod con alcune funzioni telefoniche va preso cosi’. Io lo uso come telefono secondario e va benone dura 8 ore !

Nel numero di Panorama in uscita oggi c’è un interessante articolo scritto da Piergiorgio Zambrini, in arte Zibri, che tutti noi conosciamo per essere il creatore del mitico Ziphone, il programma più usato al mondo per sbloccare il dispositivo di casa Apple.

Nell’articolo Zibri dà alcune importanti anticipazioni sul nuovo iPhone 3G.

Ecco un piccolo stralcio delle dichiarazioni di Zibri:

“L’iPhone2 sara’ disponibile in tre colori, piu’ sottile del precedente e navighera’ il web ad alta velocita’. Ma non avra’ il gps integrato. Ossia la possibilita’ di trasformarsi in navigatore satellitare senza dover dipendere da antenne esterne. Tra le novita’ piu’ importanti, la tecnologia per essere un rivale del Blakberry per essere sempre collegati alla casella di posta elettronica. In più” sostiene Zibri “grazie a un potente microprocessore, l’iPhone si potra’ trasformare in una console per videogames in grado di competere con la Playstation portatile della Sony, con giochi tridimensionali a 30 fotogrammi al secondo.”

Spero che l’autore dell’artico abbia volutamente alla maniera di Panorama esagerato l’intervista altrimenti il povero Zibri si e’ fumato il suo iPhone a meno che la Apple non abbia avuto in anticipo di 6 mesi una partita del successore di Atom ( che ricordiamo ancora non e’ uscito sul mercato).

I toni sono allucinanti connessione 50 volte piu’ veloce (e’ una semplice HDSPA che abbiamo da due anni sui nostri cell.), e giochi superiori alla PSP e dove sta l’acceleratore grafico?

Meno male che in Italia saranno gia’ simfree senno’ poveri i nosti terminali!

Keeping up with Zibri’s Blog , I noticed today that in light of the new upgrade in the: Unlocking, Activating, deBugging, downgrading powerhouse that is ZiPhone, Z also throws in that it is”THE favorite tool in Apple Stores”.  Could this be true? Do beloved Mac Geniuses use the simple one-click fix for iPhones? Of course they do. You’d be a fool not to utilize it.  The worry of a jailed, AT&T only iPhone and left our minds and now the only decision we need to make is, “Which software do I use”. As a Mac user i will forever say: ” ZiPhone all the way”

Ora è disponibile per il download la versione ZiPhone 2.6 e come raccomanda Zibri, bisogna prima fare un restore da Itunes del firmware 1.1.4, dopodichè lanciare il nuovo programma e fare il jailbreak.

Testato personalmente e funziona!

Quindi scaricate tranquillamente il nuovo software e provate.

Wer sich mit dem iPhone länger beschäftigt kommt an dieser Seite eigentlich nicht vorbei: http://de.ziphone.org/  – es sei denn man möchte sein iPhone nur mit den “normalen” Funktionen benutzen. Die normalen Funktionen sind eigentlich schon weit vorne; allerdings möchte man ja immer ein bisschen mehr als vom Werk aus geht. Dabei geht es mir nicht um die Freischaltung meines iPhone für fremde Netze. Derzeit bin ich mit dem T zufrieden. Aber Applikationen zu installieren und Einstellungen nach meinen Vorstellungen vorzunehmen reizt natürlich sehr. Was Zibri mit seiner Community hier auf die Beine stellt ist sehenswert.

Die neue Version wurde gestern  online gestellt und ich muss gestehen dass ich sie sofort getestet habe. Läuft mit der neuen iPhone Version 1.1.4 völlig problemlos. Es gab auch keine Probleme während der Installation. Innerhalb von nicht mal 5 Minuten war die ganze Aktion vorüber. Und ich erfreue mich weiterhin an einem voll funktionsfähigen Iphone mit vielen Zusatzfunktionen.

Late last night (~2am) I saw that iClarified has put up a 1.1.4 Unlock on their Installer repo (installer.iclarified.com) with a pretty serious warning not to try it as it was for testing only. Well I awoke this morning to a new Unlock on Installer for 1.1.4 simply called “Unlock (1.1.4)”. This will ONLY work on 3.9 Bootloader (click here if you are not sure which one you have)

This is a full unlock for 1.1.4 (modified GunLock), that means you end up with 04.04.05_G modem firmware (baseband) and OS firmware where with the Independence 1.4beta5 unlock you are left on 04.02.13_G modem firmware (1.1.2 baseband). I have not personally tested this one yet (as I have found something cooler), but I am sure it works with the great reception it is getting over on Hackint0sh.
