Demonic Resurrection skin slammer Viru (Virendra Kaith) signs up to endorse Zildjian Cymbals and Mapex Drums. Virendra joins the Mapex and Zildjian families of worldwide artists and is along great drummers like Chris Adler (Mapex), Aquiles Priester (Mapex), Dennis Chambers (Zildjian), Marco Minnemann (Zildjian), Gavin Harrison (Zildjian) and many more great drummers.

Viru is the only extreme metal drummer from India to endorse Zildjian cymbals.

Virendra speaks “It’s like a dream come true for me. Friend and fellow photographer Kevin, a drumming enthusiast, recently notified me that on Sunday the Drum Headquarters in St. Louis will host the drummer from the Black Crowes and Craigie Zildjian of Zildjian cymbals  for “a cymbal fest with sales and such, door prizes, etc.” Noon to 5 PM.

Cool. But there’s something even cooler about it. According to Wikipedia:

The Avedis Zildjian Company is a cymbal manufacturer founded in Istanbul, Turkey by an Armenian named Avedis Zildjian during the Ottoman Empire. Currently located in the United States, it is the world’s largest manufacturer of cymbals. At nearly 400 years old, Zildjian is the oldest family-run business in America and one of the 300 oldest companies in the world. They also sell drum-related accessories, such as drum sticks.

So don’t let the name fool you. Zildjian is All-American. Fitting, since most companies with “American” in the name and stars-n-stripes logos seem to make all their junk overseas.

As you may know, I am a drummer primarily. I started learning music on guitar first at a very early age and shortly began working on my drum chops once my pop got a good drum set. Since beginning my career in music, I’ve always heard that I am a tough person to shop for but that really isn’t true, I am a sucker for anything music related including apparel. So, what I’m trying to say is, for those shopping for a musician, a drummer more specifically, check out the Music Clothing available on the AMS site. If you can’t find what you want there, you can always pick them up a cowbell since we all know you always need more cowbell. If they happen to already have a ton of cowbell, you can’t go wrong with drum sticks unless of course they are very brand loyal and you have no idea what brand they happen to play. Speaking as a drummer, you’re safe picking up a drum brand t-shirt and calling it a day. That way, you can spend more time shopping for yourself.

To my dear girls, I wish you happiness and joy in celebrating another year of your birthday. I hope I’ll meet you up for a drink and catching up. I got to know these girls in two different situations back in my first year in UKM.

Ainsah and I were involved in AIESEC Global Village Day project. We only talk about work, work, and work. I didn’t really know her as a person. But after years, I think I already understand her personality and cope with her just fine.

Aiza and I were in the same debate tournament for freshies. She was representing Kolej Pendeta Zaaba, meanwhile I was in Kolej Ibrahim Yaakub. I cant quite recall her until her roommate, Ainur happened to be my coursemate cum lab partner introduced us again. It happened so fast and somehow we get along quickly. I crashed in their place for almost every fortnight. I thank God for her and how she saved my ass from a lot of troubles. Yes, I always put myself in danger. She has been a great friend to me and I appreciate her as much. And now she’s turning 23 but it’s semester break. I cant do her any surprises. I wish I could return her kind of what she did on my 20th birthday.

Debat Perpaduan 2006

There was once Aiza and I went to a music shop and I was fascinated by Zildjian drum sets. It was smoking black, bold, and the cymbals and hi-hats were shining bronze. I stood there and glared for a while like I am looking at James Marsden’s deep piercing blue eyes, floating on the highest cloud. *waaah…* (ignoring the fact that he’s happily married).

And then she said, “Babe, I would buy this set for you as your wedding gift.”

I held her shoulder with a meaningful smile. Nobody could ever tell how I was so overwhelmed by her thoughts. Even both of us might forget it someday but having someone saying that to me was very sweet. Oh, but why wedding gift? Can I just have it on my upcoming birthday? *LOL*

She’ll be rich enough by then and to run her own law firm. By the time I’m getting married, she could just splash her money on everything. Yeah, and that would be 10 years from now. She is F-I-E-R-C-E by nature and I know one day she’ll be a successful lawyer.

To Ainsah and Aiza, I love you both and I wish that 23 is the number of wisdom and luck.

Avedis Zildjian ha presentado siete nuevos modelos de la serie A Custom Rezo.

“Los nuevos hi-hats A Custom Rezo de 14” y 15” tienen un nuevo diseño de campana que produce un volumen adicional cuando es necesario, con su tapa media y un peso medio, mientras sigue produciendo la mezcla cálida de las matices que uno espera de la línea de platillos A Custom,” según Zildjian.

Let´s face it. Picking up the drums is ( from your parents point of view ) perhaps not the best thing to do. Gone will be the days of silence in suburbia, gone will be the days of havin the neighbours over for a spontaneous coffee and pie gathering and also, if you´re lucky ( and they´re unlucky? ) gone will be the days of them having a quiet weekend since U need to get that kit driven to the gig in the neigbouring state. Also, it has far more bombastic features than,say, the piccola flute.

It is obviously a loud, volyminous and, if your name is Neil Peart, quite full of various features that has to go up and down every night you play.

Yet again, it is the most, primal, most beautiful most feirce sound you´ll ever hear when played right, also when played right it is the most delicate, airy and percussive instrument there is, full of possibillities and ways of expression. It is in short an instrument of many faces.

So WHY do we pick up this instrument in the first place? Is it because we really ENJOY pissing our parents of? Is it because we like to embrace our primitive features every now and then? Perhaps it´s because we thought that guy on MTV had the coolest looks ever or maybe its because we heard someone play the living hell out of a pair of drums and created a sound we just coulnd´t forget? The answer to all of these questions are of course a ” yes ” yes to all of them. I believe there are just as many reasons to play the drums as there are drummers. I like to imagine ( in semi-kind-of-romantic way ) that the REAL reason why we play is that it is the most basic, fundamental thing to do. To hear a rythm, a pulse and to imitate it. After all, one of the first sounds we ever get to experience is a beat. A heartbeat, a pulse, not at all equivalent with a click-track or whatever but the most natural beat there is. So it is no surprise to me that we are so easilly led into the world of rythm, after all, everything around can be interpreted as some kind of rythm.

Looking back  in the history of music, one of the first instruments made, back in the Paleolithic era where different kinds of rythm instrument, made from bones, jaws etc. Some of these features have survived and are used even today, the guiro for example is a typical scraping instrument which might or might not have survived these eons of time. A quick look at African music tells us that the abillity to create rythm and the abillity to create a sound with our voice are two very accessible and fundamental ways for us to express ourselves.

We are, in short, made to drum, made to dance to the rythm and made to sing. It is in our nature.

So the next time You find yourself in the bar or anywhere else for that matter, saying to yourself  ( or to some hottie ) ” I don´t dance ” you are neglecting your most inner natural yearn. The same thing goes for the drummer who finds himself worn-out or out ideas, dried up with inspiration or just plain tired of playing. My advice is; let go. Let nature take over for a while, perhaps for once. Play randomly, like u never have efore, join an African drum ensemble, set yourself in an enviroment so far from your comfort-zone that you simply just have to adapt. And most important, listen to your body, follow it´s lead for once, not the other way around.

I promise you you will be amazed what you can do.

Ich benutze das Becken jetzt seit etwa 2 Jahren.
Sehr gutes China Becken wegen seiner Abmessungen und der höheren Stimmung als bei den meisten Chinas.
Was mir am wenigsten gefällt? Dass ich nur die Chance hatte es dreimal zu spielen.
Ich habe viele Chinas getestet und dieses Becken hat mir neben dem K und dem Oriental China Trash am besten gefallen.
Sehr gutes Preis/Leistungs Verhältnis: Ich habe einen Drittel weniger gezahlt als für ein neues Becken – aber es war neu…
Ich würde nicht zögern es noch einmal zu kaufen…

Avedis Zildjian Co. ha anunciado dos nuevos modelos Signature de sus baquetas. Los dos artistas que han firmado estas baquetas son John Blackwell (Prince/Justin Timberlake) y Ronnie Vannucci (The Killers).

Con una longitud de 16” 1/8 y 0,57 de diámetro, las baquetas Blackwell tienen un “cuello robusto y una punta corta para proporcionar sonoridades potentes para el Funk y el R&B. La punta de madera es más fuerte y ayuda a crear sonoridades profundas y redondeadas para platillos y baterías.”

Le serie John Blackwell (Prince/Justin Timberlake), e Ronnie Vannucci (The Killers) sono in vendita.

16 1/8 pollici di lunghezza e  0.57 plollici di diametro, le bacchette Blackwell viene descritta con ”un grande collo e un e una estremià molto corta per dare alla bacchetta potenza per funk e R&B. La cima di legno , più massiccia, aiuta a creare sonorità rotonde e profonde sui piatti e sulle pelli.

Lunghe 16 pollici,  con un diametro di 0.610 pollici, le bacchette Vannucci sono disegnate per il batterista che vuole “bacchette più larghe, qualcosa da afferrare,” secondo la  Zildjian. “Fatte in acero, questo modello da al batterista la potenza necessaria senza il peso del legno di Eucarya, ed è assolutamente ben bilanciata. I’ve posted about Tony before, and I’m sure I will again. In my opinion, there has never been a drummer with a more perfect combination of energy, creativity, technical ability, and discipline. I’m thinking about Tony again tonight because I just came across some footage of a clinic he did, filmed at a Zildjian Day in the 80’s…

It’s a six-part series of videos, and it covers quite a few topics. To be honest, I think clinics in general (even with great drummers like Tony), are always somewhat hit and miss, but this footage alone makes the clips worth watching.

Avedis Zildjian Company adalah pabrik cymbal terbesar didunia. Sekitar 400 tahun, Zildjian adalah satu dari perusahaan tertua yang masih beroperasi didunia. Mereka juga menjual asesoris-asesoris yang berhubungan dengan drum set, misalnya stick drum.

Pendeknya kemudian, pada tahun 1981, Robert memulai membuat cymbal Sabian di Meductic Azco factory, dimana Kerope dan anaknya meneruskan untuk membuat Sabian pada awalnya (Hand Hammered) cymbal (cymbal buatan tangan).

Lain daripada cymbal, Avedis Zildjian Company juga memproduksi produk lain misalnya drum stick dan asesoris lain pada drum. Drum sticks diproduksi di Alabama, dan digunakan oleh hampir seluruh endorser Zildjian. Avedis Zildjian Company meneruskan untuk membuat cymbal hari ini di Norwell, Massachusetts. Armand Zildjian sebagai kepala perusahaan setelah kematian Avedis sampai dia sendiri wafat pada 2002. sekarang perusahaan ini dikendalikan oleh putri Armand Craigie Zildjian dan Debbie Zildjian.
