Announced on November 12, the fourth in the Dominican-made Zino series is offered only in a 6-inch by 53-ring perfecto formally known as the “Zino Embassy Selection Limited Edition Perfecto.”

It has an elegant black-and-gold double band, with a medium-to-full body and a slightly sweet aroma. Deeper in flavor than the energetic Zino Classic blend, the balance of caramel on the tongue and spice on the throat is gently maintained through most of the cigar, but with a preponderance of spice in the second half.

This consistency of balance is engaging and satisfying, and impressive in the perfecto format. Just as nice is the accessible pricing of $9.80 per cigar, not including local taxes. The Embassy Selection is offered only in boxes of 10.

Dell’s long-awaited Inspiron Zino HD has finally popped official over on the outfit’s IE portal, and considering that it even made a brief appearance on the US site over the weekend, we’re guessing it’s only a matter of hours, minutes and / or nanoseconds before the minuscule desktop shows up everywhere. A total of ten interchangeable colors and designs are being offered on the machine (which gets going at €329), not to mention an integrated HDMI socket and an optional Blu-ray drive. Unlike most of the mini PCs out there today, this one actually has a specs list worth drooling over, and if we can figure out how to get a TV tuner in here, we’d say we just might be looking at our next bedroom HTPC. C’mon US admins — it’s not that early in Round Rock.

Indispensáveis no dia a dia, os nutrientes, como vitaminas e sais minerais, atuam como combustíveis para manter o organismo saudável e sempre bem disposto.

Quando um deles está em falta, o corpo dá sinais de cansaço e fica vulnerável à doenças como anemia, viroses e outras tantas que invadem o sistema imunológico, quando nossa resistência está baixa.

Para evitar que nossa máquina entre em pane, é preciso ingerir a quantidade e o tipo certo de nutrientes para suprir as necessidades básicas de cada fase da vida. “Nutrientes como cálcio, ferro, vitaminas A, C, E e zinco são importantes em qualquer idade, mas em alguns momentos é preciso aumentar a ingestão de alguns desses e de outros nutrientes, para que nossa saúde não fique prejudicada”, explica a nutricionista Alexandra Magna Rodrigues, do Centro de Atendimento e Apoio ao Adolescente.

 
Bebês
Nesta fase (até os seis meses de idade, no mínimo), é recomendado apenas a ingestão do leite materno, que é o alimento mais completo para a idade. “Dar água e outros líquidos ao bebê neste período diminui a absorção do ferro, nutriente essencial para o desenvolvimento do bebê”, explica Alexandra.

A nutricionista explica que os minerais ferro e cálcio são os nutrientes mais importantes nesta fase, porque são eles que promovem o crescimento do bebê, o fortalecimento dos ossos e do sistema imunológico. “É o momento de criar as bases para sua saúde por toda a vida”. “Se você garante uma boa alimentação na infância e na adolescência, já é um grande passo para ter uma vida saudável quando adulto”, diz a nutri. 

Nutrientes essenciais

-Ferro: fortalece o sistema imunológico e dos ossos
Onde encontrar: leite materno e depois do período de amamentação, que deve ser de seis meses a dois anos de idade, em carnes e verduras de folhas verde-escuro.

-Cálcio: é importante para a saúde dos dentes dos bebês, após o primeiro ano de vida.
Onde encontrar: nos derivados do leite, como iogurtes e queijos.

- Vitamina C: ajuda na absorção do ferro.
Onde encontrar: laranja, goiaba, limão.

-Vitamina A: fortalece o sistema imunológico e a visão.
Onde encontrar: mamão, abóbora. 

 
Infância
Na infância, os nutrientes importantes não mudam, porém, agem de maneira mais intensa no organismo. “Com exceção do zinco, que nesta fase é fundamental para abrir o apetite da criança, os demais nutrientes se mantêm, porém, agora passam a assumir papel ainda mais importante, pois, é nesta fase que o primeiro grande pico de crescimento acontece e a saúde da criança tem que estar em dia com estes nutrientes. Sem eles, não há desenvolvimento físico e cognitvo”, explica Alexandra.

“Além disso, o cuidado do cardápio das crianças vai para o consumo de guloseimas, alimentos industrializados e os enlatados. Pobres em nutrientes, eles acabam substituindo as refeições e isso pode provocar danos à saúde como o não crescimento, problemas cognitivos ou até dentes frágeis”, diz a nutricionista.

 
Adolescência
O zinco assume um dos papéis principais no prato dos adolescentes. O mineral é responsável pela maturação sexual na puberdade e regula a produção de hormônios. “O zinco é fundamental para o desenvolvimento sexual na adolescência. Sem ele, pode haver uma deficiência de algum hormônio importante para a vida sexual dos jovens”, explica Alexandra.

Outro nutriente fundamental nesta fase é o cálcio. Isso porque, a adolescência é a segunda maior fase de crescimento, portanto, além de calorias extras, os jovens precisam de cálcio para que sua massa óssea se desenvolva.

Nutrientes importantes

- Zinco: favorece a maturação sexual e regula os hormônios.
Onde encontrar: ostras, cereais integrais e carnes vermelhas.

- Cálcio: Crescimento ósseo.
Onde encontrar: Derivados do leite, como iogurtes, queijos, requeijão, coalhada e em verduras, como couve e brócolis.

 
Fase adulta
Para os adultos, os nutrientes mais importantes são as substâncias antioxidantes (que preserva a saúde das células), ferro, cálcio e ômegas 3. “Na fase adulta, corremos mais riscos de desenvolver doenças no sistema cardiovascular e estamos nos preparando para terceira idade, e estes nutrientes são essenciais para prevenir estes e outros males”, explica Alexandra.

Para as mulheres, o climatério é um período crítico. Muitas deixam de menstruar sem nada sentirem, enquanto outras passam por intenso sofrimento, como ondas de calor que dificultam seu convívio social e profissional.

Além das ondas de calor, que podem ser visualizadas através do rubor facial e da sudorese instantânea que causam, os demais sintomas são subjetivos. Pode ocorrer insônia, depressão, redução da libido, incontinência urinária com infecções urinárias de repetição, perda da lubrificação vaginal, com propensão à candidíase e outras vaginites, dor para manter relações sexuais e dolorimento mamário.

A deficiência do hormônio feminino está implicada na gênese de doenças crônico-degenerativas como a aterosclerose e doenças cardiovasculaes, no declínio cognitivo, na doença de Alzheimer e na osteoporose. Para esta fase, a melhor forma de amenizar os problemas é investir nas isoflavonas da soja.

Outro aspecto que não deve passar em branco é a memória. Com o passar dos anos, nossa memória vai falhando e a alimentação é fundamental para amenizar este processo. Para amenizar a perda de memória e de concentração, o ideal é ingerir vitaminas do complexo B, encontrada na carne vermelha, peixes, cereais integrais, leite, entre outros alimentos. 
 
Nutrientes importantes

-Isoflavonas: presentes na soja e em seus derivados, como sucos e leite. Pela semelhança com o estrogênio natural, a isoflavona da soja pode diminuir a intensidade e a frequência das ondas de calor em, aproximadamente, 50% a 60% das mulheres na fase da menopausa.

- Ômega 3: são gorduras essenciais para o funcionamento do nosso organismo. Auxiliam na produção do bom colesterol, além de reduzir as taxas de gorduras no organismo, responsáveis por desencadear doenças cardiovasculares.
Onde encontrar: peixes, em especial salmão e atum, e linhaça triturada

- Antioxidantes: eles protegem o organismo contra o efeito dos radicais livres, que danificam as células.
Onde encontrar: Castanha do Pará (selênio), uva , vinho e chá verde( flavonoides).

Embora não sejam considerados vitaminas, os flavonoides têm várias funções nutricionais que têm sido descritas como modificadores de resposta biológica; a maioria atua como antioxidantes, e alguns têm propriedades anti-inflamatórias. Pesquisas demonstram que os flavonoides previnem ou retardam o desenvolvimento de alguns tipos de câncer.
Onde encontrar: uva, chás de frutas vermelhas, vinho, chá verde.

- vitaminas do grupo B: atua na conversão dos carboidratos em energia, nos músculos e nos sistema nervoso. Sua deficiência pode causar fadiga, perda de apetite, náusea, fraqueza muscular e desordens digestivas. Há irritabilidade, depressão, diminuição da memória, falta de concentração, fraqueza nas panturrilhas, rachaduras e ardência nos dedos e sola dos pés.

Onde encontrar: em todos os vegetais, ocorrendo em maior quantidade nos grãos integrais, no arroz integral, no broto de feijão e nos legumes, levedo de cerveja, nozes, farinha de soja, flocos de aveia, fígado.

 
Terceira-idade
Na terceira-idade, o lema é combater os males da idade. Para as mulheres, recomenda-se a ingestão de cálcio para evitar a osteoporose, já para os homens, a dica é investir na substância antioxidante licopeno, encontrada no tomate, que tem forte ação contra o câncer de próstata.

Vale ressaltar que os demais nutrientes são importantes nesta fase e não devem ser banidos do cardápio. “Muita gente acha que a terceira idade é a fase de cortar calorias e gorduras, mas na verdade, é a época em que se deve evitar produtos diet e ligth, a não ser que seja uma recomendação médica, pois as reservas do nosso organismo precisam estar sempre abastecidas”, explica a nutricionista.

Henke Kelner recently re-blended the Zino Classic and utilized Dominican tobaccos, while still maintaining the original Honduran characteristics. You can learn more about Zino here. This was a gifted smoke from the nice people at Davidoff. Today we offer a joint review of this cigar.

Take 1:
Appearance, 1.8:

The first thing that jumped out about this stick was the label and packaging—very elegant and classy.  The medium brown wrapper was relatively smooth with some tooth. The triple cap was constructed very nicely and the cigar was firm to the touch with one small soft spot towards the head of the smoke. The cigar cut well and the cap came off very cleanly. The pre-light aroma and draw were filled with a clean tobacco taste and aroma with no other notes showing prominence. So far so good on this smoke.

Burn, 1.8:

The draw on this smoke seemed a little tight at first puff and this continued throughout the cigar as it never really loosened up. The Zino produced a very adequate amount of smoke with a very pleasing medium gray ash, which held for well over and inch before I let it go.

Flavor, 1.5:

The first puff of this smoke was very smooth with no real flavors jumping out at me. As I moved into the 1/3 this continued—no real flavor notes to speak of and a kind of unpleasant or harsh citrus on the finish.  Unfortunately, this never changed and the smoke never gained any traction in the flavor department. It was a very bland smoke and due to the fact it was deceptively full by the middle of 2/3, I was ready to put it down.  I worked my way to the beginning of the 3/3 in hopes that it might redeem itself, but no such luck and I did put it down for good. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. Any general interest in continuing the smoke and future purchasing were wiped out and that, coupled with the lack of a flavor profile, really dropped the score in the category.

Overall, 1.5:

The appearance of this smoke was top notch but unfortunately this did not translate into a great tasting cigar at all. The Zino was really a letdown and, at $7.00 a stick, I need something from Flavortown for me to want to pay another visit.  I enjoyed the experience to start with but by the 2/3 it was work and that is never a good thing when smoking a cigar.

Take 2:
Appearance, 1.7:

The classic had an excellent roll to form the perfectly capped Torpedo; the wrapper was also of good quality though it had several large veins running alongside the roll. The pre-light draw was great. No major complaints in this department.

Burn, 1.2:

The draw during the smoke matched that of the pre-light, very nice; however, the construction of the ash proved why the draw was good—a very loose roll. The ash held decently for the first inch but a very large split developed through the middle of the ash, causing it to nearly form two directional ashes. This is one of the worst ash-splits I’ve seen. I also had to re-light about half way through.

Flavor, 2.0:

The flavor profile was not at all what I expected from a mid-priced, full-bodied smoke. There was a light bit of pepper in the after taste in the first 1/3, but this mellowed out for the remained of the smoke. The Zino had no complexity whatsoever, nor was it consistent—this was the biggest deduction in scoring for this department.

Overall, 2.0:

Overall, not worth the money. At around $7, there are lots and lots of sticks I’d pick up first, most for half the price and twice the enjoyment. Don’t spend your money or your time on this stick.

… é o nome de um novo mini-desktop que está por sair dos galpões da Dell.

Com recursos de alta-definição, possui portas HDMI, USB, e-Sata, LAN, conectores de áudio in/out, fonte externa, drive ótico (não se sabe se DVD ou Blue-ray), leitor de cartões, e o que num primeiro momento parece ser uma porta VGA na verdade é um conector DB9 serial. Alguns sites divulgaram ser um conector VGA porém este da foto só possui 9 pinos.

Por enquanto só conseguiu-se garimpar duas fotos, que dizem ter sido tiradas sem o aval do fabricante, mas já dá para ter uma boa idéia de que o lançamento vai sacudir o mercado e ao menos incomodar bastante o concorrente da Apple.

Fico por aqui suspirando por mais este sonho de consumo enquanto voces apreciam as fotos do queridinho em acabamento preto, que é o mais fácil de combinar em todos os ambientes de sua casa.

UPDATE 1.  AUGUST 2009

Wir haben das Key West zu fünft am Abend des 1. August besucht um uns einen Eindruck vom neuen Küchenkonzept zu machen. Leider war die Entäuschung gross. Von der im Tages-Anzeiger besprochenen mediterranen Küche haben wir bei unserem Besuch beim besten Willen nichts mitbekommen. Auf der Karte fanden wir dafür Klassiker wie Cordon-Bleu, Wienerschnitzel und ähnliches. Diese waren aber wenig berauschend. Das Cordon-Bleu war trocken und langweilig, das Wienerschnitzel versalzen. Vom frischen Wind im Key West haben wir nichts gespürt.

Das Key West hat einen neuen  Besitzer und ein neues Konzept. Mehr dazu in einem Artikel des Tages-Anzeigers vom 12. Juni 2009.

Es gibt nicht viele Seerestaurants dieser Art am unteren Zürichsee. Seeanstoss. Eigener Bootssteg. Wunderbare Terrasse. Zweier-Tischchen auf dem Bootssteg für romantische Abendessen. Moderne, leicht karibisch angehauchte Küche. Dazu illustre Gäste: Murat Yakin soll hier von Zeit zu Zeit verkehren.

Das Key West gibt es bereits seit vielen Jahren. Ich war hier das erste Mal 1996, als ein Freund von mir in diesem Restaurant sein Service-Praktikum der Hotelfachschule absolvierte. Seither hat sich nicht viel verändert.

Karte

Viel Fleisch und genau so viel Fisch und Gambas. Moderne, aber einfache Küche ohne grossen Schnickschnack. Schöne Weine und einen gut bestückten Humidor.

Exklusives und Aufwendiges sucht man hier vergeben. Die Auswahl bereitet trotzdem Freude.

Bedienung

Für einmal ein Restaurant, wo es zu diesem Punkt nicht viel zu sagen gibt. Ich möchte es so ausdrücken: der Service ist zufriedenstellend. Fast so wie die Karte: unspektakulär. Weder sehr freundlich, noch unfreundlich, weder sehr effizient, noch sehr langsam. Durchschnittlich halt.

Auf jeden Fall ist der Service gut genug, dass er einem den Abend nicht verdirbt.

Einmal mehr ein 200 Franken Restaurant, für zwei Personen versteht sich.

Campari-Orange, Bier, kleine Vorspeise (Salat und Gurkensuppe), US-Rindsfilet (120 gr.), US-Entrecôte (120 gr.), 1/2 Liter offen Baron de Ley (Rioja), 1 Mineralwasser und eine kleine Zino-Zigarre = 212 Franken.

Absolut empfehlenswert an einem schönen Sommerabend am See (mit oder ohne Boot). Wer auf Topservice und kreative Speisen von Zeit zu Zeit verzichten kann, der wird hier einen unvergesslichen Abend verbringen.

Zino Davidoff was an acknowledged master of the cigar business in almost every way: he was a premier tobacconist, the author of The Connoisseur’s Book of the Cigar, and he is reportedly the inventor of the desktop humidor. For forty years he operated Davidoff of Geneva, nurturing the family business from a neighborhood shop to an international enterprise. He is credited with the success of the Hoyo de Monterrey Chateau series of Cuban cigars, as well as his own eponymous line of Cuban cigars. In 1989, disgusted with the low quality and shoddy workmanship of his Cuban suppliers, he publicly incinerated over one hundred thousand of his company’s cigars. From these ashes would rise a new, better Davidoff made in the Dominican Republic. As Lord Buckley might say, Zino stomped on the terra.

But before the famous conflagration was the Zino cigar. It was created in 1975 especially for Americans — due to the embargo, the Cuban Davidoff was of course not sold in the States. The original Zino was made in Honduras, and the Mouton-Cadet and Connoisseur blends were its well known lines. But when Davidoff broke off with Cubatabaco in 1989 the Dominican Davidoff White Label became the prototypical black tie cigar. Subsequently the Zino line stepped back into the shadows.

With all of its rich history and style, Davidoff has garnered a somewhat stodgy reputation. The company is understandably unwilling to part from its well earned reputation, but at the same time with Zino Platinum it wants to appeal to a younger set, to cater to the “modern urban pop culture of today.”

Zino Platinum is comprised of two distinct lines of regal cigars, the Crown and the Scepter. The Crown series is marketed as a super-premium in the 30 to 40 USD price range. (That’s the damage per stick, not box.) The Scepter is a more “affordable”  premium at around 9 to 14 USD. I guess nine bucks for a Davidoff is a cheap date, relatively speaking.

The marketing department evidently spared no expense. The cigars are packaged in 12 or 16 count cans that are elegantly decorated with dogs dressed up in period costume. The Low Rider can features a schnauzer in an Elizabethan collar — the lace kind, not the plastic post-surgery kind most dogs are familiar with.

The Zino Scepter blend starts out with Dominican piloto and two distinct San Vicente leaves, combined with a native Peruvian leaf for filler. That is surrounded by a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and then the whole shebang is wrapped in an Ecuadorian Connecticut leaf that has been matured for two years.

Construction Notes

The wrapper on this lonsdale is typical of good Connecticut shade leaf: a nice golden brown color with few inconsistencies. The roll is a little bit soft and the cap is not perfect, but good enough. With the classy silver band, this is a nice looking stick.

The draw is perfect, and very consistent from cigar to cigar. Once clipped and lit, it burns steadily though maybe a bit more rapidly than I expected. The burn is even and the ash is firm but it cracks enough that you’ll want to keep the ashtray handy.  Overall fine construction.

Tasting Notes

The Zino Scepter is a smooth, but still very flavorful smoke. It starts with an earthy introduction and a dry finish which is quickly joined by a light aftertaste of pepper. The texture is buttery smooth, and the aroma is quintessential Ecuadorian Connecticut: creamy, with notes of vanilla and oak.

The pepper downshifts in the middle section for smooth easy smoking. The flavors remain mellow and earthy, and it’s easy to sit back and coast on the rich aroma alone.

That pleasant sweet perfume laced with spice wraps things up in the last section.  The aftertaste stays clean up to the band, but soon after that the flavors start to turn a little papery.

Conclusion

The Zino Platinum Scepter series is a mild bodied cigar that is ultimately quite satisfying due to its complexity. You get what’s expected from a high quality Connecticut Shade wrapper, but beneath that there is a nice layer of pepper and oak that makes the experience a little more interesting than what you’d expect from a plain good cigar. The price is questionable, but you do get a nice can with pictures of dogs dressed up like Louis XIV prancing back to Versailles. If you don’t mind throwing away a few bucks on snazzy (or silly) advertising, you won’t be disappointed.

But who is the man behind the name?

“Zino Davidoff was born March 11th, 1906, in Kiev, Russia. In 1911, the political situation forced him and his family to emigrate. A journey lasting more than three months eventually brought the Davidoff family to Geneva, and that same year Zino’s father, Henri, opened a tobacco shop on the Boulevard des Philosophes.

Zino Davidoff: a man with a great sense of humour and a well-developed feeling for the beautiful things in life. An artist; who understood people, and respected them. Who never lost sight of his purpose; to enrich life through enjoying its good things.

Who even as a successful businessman remained true to himself and to his principles. Zino Davidoff believed in simplicity, in the complete enjoyment of life. People who knew Davidoff knew this. They came from all over the world to share his philosophy, to enjoy his finest, purest cigars. Zino Davidoff died in 1994, but his legacy and philosophy will be with us for many years!

Traditionally Davidoff cigars were of Cuban origin.  After the trade embargo with the US, Zino realized he just lost a huge market with the United States.  So he developed the Zino line to distribute in the US.  After the Davidoff/Habanos relationship ended in the 80s, Zino brought the Davidoff brand back to the United States but with completely different size names.  Those will be reserved hopefully when the embargo ends and Davidoff and Habanos can reestablish a partnership that made some of the best cigars ever made.  I will patiently wait for my Dom Perignon and Chateau Margeaux.

Davidoff blends.  Construction and consistency is the cornerstone of a Kelner cigar.  He has somehow mastered the ability to keep the exact same taste in a cigar year after year.  Kelner’s blends have a very distinct taste.  Some call it “musty” or “dry” and you either like it or you don’t.  But Kelner has made some of the greatest cigars I have ever had the pleasure of smoking including the AVO LE5 and the Davidoff Vintage 2000 Panetela.

Davidoff is known for their Connecticut-wrapped cigars, whether they are grown in the shade in the Connecticut River Valley or under the clouds/sun in Ecuador.  Recently Kelner has begun experimenting with Connecticut Broadleaf and Dominican wrappers.  I can’t wait to see if Kelner gets his hands on some Authentic Corojo from newly acquired Camacho cigars.

– one of the most luxurious and expensive cigars ever made.  Hallmarks of consistency and construction, these cigars have been disregard due to the recent trend in “strong” cigars, but there is no mistaking that a Davidoff cigar is an exceptional cigar.  All tobacco must be aged a minimum of 4 years.  Originally using Connecticut Shade wrappers, in 2002 production switched to using Ecuadorian Connecticut wrappers.

• 100^th Anniversary Diadema (2006) – this monster perfecto was only available at select Davidoff stores.

• OVTC Edition – this perfecto was made to celebrate the anniversary of the Old Virginia Tobacco Company.
• Panetela Extra Vintage 2000 (2003) – my favorite Davidoff LE.  Davidoff’s first true Vintage cigar.

• Puro Dominicana Robusto (2007) – this spicy all-Dominican puro may be the precursor to the new Puro d’Oro.

• Puro Perfecto (2009) – this small batch release features a robust Dominican wrapper.

• Reserva 12 Robusto Extra (2008) – another wonderful and flavorful LE, but these will need some time to fully develop.

• Robusto Intenso (2005) – my second favorite Davidoff LE, this was spicy but balanced and showed lots of aging potential.

• Robusto Real <<Especiales 7>> (2004) – have not tried this LE.  Please send me one of you have one.

Zino – This line was created to give the US consumers a Davidoff product when Davidoff cigars were still being made in Havana.

• Zino Classic – available in 7 sizes with an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper.  This famous brand began in Honduras in 1975, but was finally discontinued in 2005. Instead, Zinos moved to the Dominican Republic in 2006, using Honduran tobaccos and a Connecticut seed wrapper.

• Zino Light – Discontinued, I think.  These are still available although I think they are no longer made.  These are mixed filler with a precut tip packaged in plastic sleeves with either a Sumatran or Brazilian wrapper.

• Zino Mouton Cadet – Discontinued. This line was replaced by the Zino Classic line.  These were originally made in Honduras with a Connecticut-seed wrapper.

The Griffin’s – the least known of the Davidoff brands, The Griffin’s cigars are sweet and creamy with richness in flavor but mildness in strength.  Basically these are Davidoff cigars at a fraction of the price.   The Griffin’s was created in 1984 by Swiss nightclub impresario Bernard H. Grobet, who owned and operated the Griffin’s Club. Word spread throughout Switzerland about the quality of his house cigar and it was introduced in the U.S. in 1989 (Perelman).

• The Griffin’s – available in 11 sizes with a creamy Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper.

• The Griffin’s Maduro – available in 4 sizes with a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.

• The Griffin’s Fuerte – debuting in 2002, this is the fuller bodied Griffin, which is available in 3 sizes with an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper.

The Zino Platinum Scepter Series is another one of my favorite lines, although not in all sizes. I prefer the smaller sizes in the line like the Bullet. Just like all of the other Davidoff lines there is a yearly limited edition cigar. For the Zino Platinum Scepter Series it is the Master Edition. The 2007 Master Edition featured a rich looking Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. This particular cigar has been sitting in my humidor for about a year.

The Master Edition has a darker wrapper than the Scepter Series, with little veins and a nice satiny feel. It draws well with a dead even burn and a nice even ash.

The ash holds on for quite a while.

The initial flavors I pick up are wood and toast. Like most Kelner-made cigars, it is dry on palate but gives way to creamy & chewy coffee notes with some cocoa powder thrown in as well.

There is just a touch of spice not pepper spice, something more like cinnamon. As I get down to the end, the flavors intensify but I have to be careful and smoke it slowly as it can easily get acrid quickly.

This was a really good cigar that aged nicely. I probably should have waited some more before I smoked it.

The Zino Classic Torpedo is a short little belicoso, the first new size since the Classic line was reblended by Henke Kelner a few years ago.  I picked this up at Empire Cigars.

This is a nice looking light brown colored cigar with barely visible veins and is firm but with an appropriate amount of give.  The wrapper is very thin and soft and silky to the touch.

This was a big surprise as this cigar was a disappointment first puff.  I was hit with wave after wave of ammonia, which has a halting sour that makes you want to throw it down.

This is a real shame as I had liked the Classic Line as it was a consistent cigar that had a creamy toastiness and oakiness with a hint of coffee that was mild in strength but very flavorful.

This is not ready ammonia at all.  The ammonia tang won’t leave your tongue and you just can’t get rid of the taste.  I pitched it.  This might be the first time Henke has let me down.

Aanstaande vrijdag is het weer zo ver. Dan vindt de alweer de zesde editie plaats van het concept Tek Attack. Op deze avond zullen de DJ’s hun vage kant tonen door de lekkerste en vooral vaagste Jump & Tek te draaien. De vorige editie tijdens de Tilburgse Kersmis was weer een groot succes. Dus gewoon vrijdag 12 september weer een nieuwe editie met de lekkerste Tek. Liefhebbers kunnen zes uur lang genieten van de DJ’s Qatja S, Binum en de Tek Attack residents JeeVee, Demis H en Denzity.

Voor deze gelegenheid heeft Binum zijn oude platen van zolder gehaald en zal een heerlijk setje gaan draaien. Bij de mannen van Qatja S kan je veel vaagheid verwachten. Zij zullen wat meer de (vage-)Techno kant op gaan gezien hun releases. Natuurlijk zullen ook de residents weer hun steentje bijdragen aan deze editie.

Bezoekers die voor 23.00 binnen zijn mogen gratis doorlopen. Daarna is de entree-prijs 6 euro.
