CZB: Există oameni în presa de specialitate care consideră că la Festivalul Uniter, Teatrul Maghiar de Stat din Cluj are pile.

Gabor Tompa (directorul Teatrului Maghiar de Stat din Cluj): Cred că este o problemă falsă şi o idee copilărească pentru că Galele Uniter se desfăşoară de 18 ani şi nu cred că ar fi fost vreo ediţie unde s-au făcut aranjamente. Ar fi fost chiar culmea ca Teatrul Maghiar din Cluj, care a fost cel mai premiat Teatru în istoria Galei Uniter să existe aranjamente în culise ca să obţinem acest Palmares. Probabil este vorba mai mult de o problemă de caracter cu jurnaliştii cărora le place uneori să tulbure apele.

De la ediţie la ediţie, componenţa juriului se schimbă (şi cel care decide nominalizările, şi cel final). Aceste nominalizări în general reflectă şi gustul acelora care fac nominalizările, dar este vorba aici şi de un consens. Componenţa juriului este mereu fără soţ, fie că sunt 3, 5 … odată au fost chiar 7. Prin majoritate de voturi se decide. Este un lucru simplu. CZB: De câţi ani la rând este premiat Teatrul Maghiar de Stat din Cluj?

Gabor Tompa: Până acum, din cele 17 ediţii, la 12 ediţii a fost nominalizată pentru cel mai bun spectacol, primind „Premiul pentru Cel mai bun spectacol” de şase ori (Doi gemeni veneţieni, Livada de vişini, Woyzeck, Unchiul Vania, Trei surori, În staţie).

Acum ne pregătim să mergem în Macedonia şi avem invitaţii aproape pe tot parcursul anului viitor în turnee şi la festivaluri în Italia, Ungaria, Polonia şi Statele Unite. Teatrul nostru într-adevăr a prezentat spectacole în majoritatea ţărilor europene.

CZB: Care este scopul acestor turnee?

Gabor Tompa: Teatrul Maghiar de Stat din Cluj este, începând cu anul 2008, membru în Uniunea Teatrelor din Europa, care este Asociaţia Teatrală cuprinzând multe dintre cele mai valoroase Teatre din Europa. Uniunea este fondata de marele regizor Giorgio Strehler.

CZB: Dacă am înţeles bine, această clădire a fost construită iniţial pentru Teatru, fiind apoi asociată Opera sub acelaşi acoperiş. Există probleme de împărţire a spaţiului şi a timpului de repetiţii. Opera are mai multe departamente cu un colectiv mai numeros. Gabor Tompa: Împărţirea unei scene între Teatru şi Operă este în toate cazurile nefericită, chiar şi atunci când cele două instituţii sunt de acelaşi nivel, au scopuri artstice comune şi câteodată cooperează. În cazul nostru, nu pot să vorbesc despre o astfel de situaţie. Mie personal mi se pare că cele două instituţii la Cluj s-au dus în două direcţii total diferite în ceea ce priveşte sistemul de valori. Se pare că Opera Maghiară din Cluj ar putea să fie o Operă de nivel european dacă ar avea proiecte mai valoroase şi un Management pe măsură. În orice caz şi în orice situaţie, această convieţuire a instituţiilor este dificilă şi necesită un respect reciproc şi o programare în perspectivă. Au fost foarte multe ocazii în anii 1990, chiar şi în anii 2000, când am avut probleme pentru că noi întotdeauna ne făceam programele în avans. Conflictele sunt greu de rezolvat pentru că timpii de repetiţie, fizic, pe scenă, sunt foarte scurţi. Când am preluat direcţiunea Teatrului, primul lucru pe care l-am făcut a fost să despart complet administraţia şi atelierele. Nu mai există nici un angajat comun, pentru că unele persoane se ascundeau în spatele dublei responsabilităţi şi nu erau capabili să facă nimic la timp. Dacă negociam timpul la ateliere şi revendicam de ce nu este respectat termenul stabilit, mi se spunea că se lucrează pentru Operă … şi se întâmpla şi vice-versa. La ora actuală, slavă Domnului, nu există nici un angajat comun la cele două instituţii. Un caz şi mai fericit ar fi desigur să putem lucra în clădiri diferite.

CZB: Vă consideraţi un om realizat prin succesele de care v-aţi bucurat până în acest moment?

Gabor Tompa: Nu îmi pun această problemă şi nici scopul meu nu este să fiu realizat. Eu încerc să îmi fac meseria de regizor şi îndatoririle, responsabilităţile de director al unui Teatru care are o mare tradiţie şi considerat în ultimii ani un Teatru de vârf, atât în România cât şi în întreaga cultură teatrală de limbă maghiară, Teatru membru, dintre cele 18 teatre alese în Uniunea Teatrelor din Europa. Încerc întotdeauna să îmi asum riscuri artistice, să păstrez funcţia aceasta indispensabilă de a fi o oglindă a realităţii, „de a ţine oglindă naturii”, cum zice Hamlet şi să nu se compromită sau să nu se prostitueze anumite proiecte ieftine de gust dubios, chiar dacă vor fi presiuni din partea mediocrităţii sau a unor forţe obscure, care din când în când au atacat Teatrul.

Ca director de Teatru, cea mai mare bucurie a mea este să pot invita artişti extraordinar, nu ca să îmi realizez eu proiectele de regizor, ci pentru ca să pot observa diversitatea aceasta care a fost adusă prin venirea unor artişti precum Vlad Mugur, Silviu Purcărete, Mihai Mănuţiu, David Grant, David Zinder şi alţii care lucrează anul acesta la proiecte noi. … dar şi scenografi ca Andrei Both, Helmut Sturmer, Judith Dobre, Didi Ciupe, Carmengita Brojboiu şi compozitori … deci trebuie să existe o opţiune clară de valori care a dus la o şcoală foarte bună pentru Teatru. Şcoala acestor regizori, acestor artişti cu care s-a colaborat, a constituit poate uneori o şcoală uneori mai preţioasă decât toate academiile sau facultăţile pe care le-au terminat actorii noştri.

CZB: Cum atrageţi publicul de limbă română la Teatrul Maghiar?

Gabor Tompa: Nu există reţete dar singura modalitate este de a face spectacole bune, valoroase, oneste din punct de vedere profesional şi să alegem texte care sunt de interes, capodopere ale dramaturgiei universale, spectacole interesante cu piese noi care tratează nişte probleme acute ale societăţii contemporane şi să facem spectacole care sunt înţelese dincolo de limbajul vorbit. De ani de zile traducem spectacolele la cască în limba română. Acum am introdus şi supra-titrajul, sau subtitrajul, care face spectacolul să fie mult mai uşor de urmărit. Spectatorul poate acum să asculte universul sonor original al pieselor de teatru. Dar nu numai în limba românăm la festivalurile pe care le-am organizat în ultimii ani, precum festivalul Interferenţe, Festivalul Uniunii Teatrelor din Europa, etc. au fost traduceri şi în alte limbi, precum engleză, franceză şi germană.

CZB: Anul acesta unde se organizează Festivalul Uniunii Teatrelor din Europa?

CZB: Cum aţi ajuns să organizaţi atelierul de Teatru Japonez?

Gabor Tompa: Ne-am înţeles indirect, prin Fundaţia Culturală Arthoc, care a considerat că Teatrul Maghiar din Cluj ar fi spaţiul ideal pentru a organiza acest atelier cu Yoshi Oida, unul din principalii actori al lui Pater Bruck de la Centrul de Cercetări Teatrale din Paris, un actor care a jucat în aproape toate spectacolele de teatru regizate de Bruck, dar şi cu alţi regizori celebri. Yoshi Oida a făcut şi regie – şi cred că acest Atelier Internaţional va constitui un punct de plecare spre noi colaborări între actori. Sunt convins că într-un asemenea atelier toată lumea va beneficia şi îşi va reîmprospăta regândirea teatrală cât şi mijloacele artistice.

CZB: În decembrie va avea loc un concert în Sala Mare de Jazz cu Lucian Ban?

Gabor Tompa: Da. Este vorba de Tuba Project, unde sunt patru instrumentişti la tubă şi Lucian Ban. Am avut ocazia să urmăresc concertele din New York al lui Lucian Ban cu diverşi cântăreţi de jazz şi instrumentişti-muzicieni americani. Sper că lumea va fi pe fază când prezentăm un spectacol de jazz cu o asemenea formaţie de renume în Sala Mare a Teatrului Maghiar. Este într-adevăr o premieră şi va avea loc vineri 11 decembrie 2009.
