It’s a beautiful, sunny, June afternoon and Canada’s women’s soccer team is getting ready to play in nearby BC Place stadium. What better time than to enjoy a rosé that has been sitting in the wine fridge, just waiting for such an excuse. 148 more words

2011 Clau De Nell Anjou Cuvée Violette was the final wine of the night. This went through a substantial transformation throughout the day. I opened this in the afternoon to give it some air. Came out of the bottle angry and with shrill acid. By the end of the evening during dinner, this had mellowed and transformed into a balanced beauty with lovely black fruit and an intriguing herbaciousness and savory flavors that was a dead solid match for the perfectly cooked leg of lamb our friend Chris had cooked. At $35, this is priced right about where it needs to be and is a clean and fun entry wine into the Loire region.
