The berries on Barrier Saltbush (Enchylaena tomentosa), which we mentioned about a month back, are at their best right now. The colourful orange/red berries are about as plentiful as they get, are looking plump, and are just starting to show signs that they will soon be shrivelling up.
I managed to ID one of the plants near the Catalina harbor on the Two Harbors island: Atriplex semibaccata, commonly called the Australian saltbush. The name alone should lead one to believe it is a non-native. 207 more words
