One of my favorite things about attending my home church, Blackhawk, is that the teaching often leans toward the historical. As a historian and a history teacher, this obviously is a sweet spot for me, but I find that for all of us who call Blackhawk Church home, the ability to have true historical context around a passage that may seem otherwise well-known sheds new light on God’s Word. 127 more words

It is easy to read the middle of Luke 12 (v13-21) and pick up on Jesus’ message about greed. What is perhaps more important, though, about this parable of a farmer who decides to take his wealth and put it toward larger facilities to hold it all rather than compassionate causes is his reason for doing so … or really, lack of reason. 588 more words
