Handbuilding 4 - large coils

Building in slabs using the coil method. This was quite fast and satisfying. We were using a grogged raku clay which was good for building larger structures – it held itself up really well. 232 more words

This week we were exploring coiling. I was a bit apprehensive about this, having had very little success with it in the past. In fact I had previously found it very frustrating, with the clay drying and cracking, my coils flat and uneven and the forms unwieldy. 167 more words
