Rear Spar and Ribs

Work has begun on the rear spar. It is profiled, doublers trimmed and I have started on glueing them on. On the front spar I had dramas getting the doublers staying in position even when clamped. 182 more words

Building continues on the front spar. I have finished the bevelling of the front spar to 10 degrees. (Rear is 8 degrees). This required a 1/8″ checkout for the spar attach bracket but as you can see from the pics, they fit just perfectly. 152 more words

Now that the ribs are complete, they are set aside and I have spent my time on the front spar.

This afternoon, spent the afternoon on the bandsaw and with the router shaping the capstrip for the centre section ribs. Once I had completed the top and bottom cap strips for each of the 4 ribs I jumped onto the thicknesser to get my oversize spars down to one inch thickness. 136 more words
