Petition gatherers are seeking signatures for what they call the Teach Great Initiative (a proposed Missouri constitutional amendment).  In some instances they are telling potential signers they represent the “TEACHGREAT organization, a grass-root group of educators interested in keeping better teachers in public schools.” What the petition hopes to accomplish according to the website is:  “teachers to be dismissed, retained, demoted, promoted and paid primarily using quantifiable student performance data as part of the evaluation system.”  TEACHGREAT lists no board members (unusual for an organization supposed to be made up of teachers) on its website and the only phone number listed takes you to a law office in Jefferson City.  169 more words
